Is Obama offended by Norway’s ‘whiteness?”; BHO snubs royalty and concert but likely will blame Bush for it

the above photo proves... no one of arrogance can fake humility.

Obama did, in Oslo, Norway, one of the few things Obama knows how to do… deliver a speech. Speeches are given by every Leader… it is common.

Action is what Leaders are truly judged by… harmful action and beneficial action… and inaction.

A poor leader who delivers great speeches is not uncommon… I can think of a few spectacular examples in history.

What about the reaction by Norwegians to Obama’s Behavior today? …his actions and inaction on the day of their bequeathing upon him their Nation’s most special honor? The Nobel Peace Price?

H/T to Monica T, by way of Michelle Malkin, for the translated news from Norway…

Progress Party leader Siv Jensen thinks it is bad that U.S. President Barack Obama does not want to have lunch with King Harald. The Norwegian people agree with her in a poll which in fact made for VG.  According to the poll said 44 percent of the population that it is rude of Obama to drop lunch with the king of Norway.  34 percent thinks that Obama’s decision is entirely fair.  But even more responding that he drop the Nobel concert. 53 percent believe it is rude to do such a thing, while 27 percent understand that he does not set aside time to listen to, among others, Donna Summer.

Moreover, says 48 percent of the respondents that Obama should set up the press conference and interview with CNN.

Progress Party leader Siv Jensen is upset.

I think it is bad that he was cancelling the royal house. It is a central part of Norway’s management system, and he should have respect for the monarchy, “said Jensen.

Watching the Obama Acceptance speech reminded me of something… he knows right from wrong …he knows what he should do and should not do.

Yet he engages, via Powerful Political Allies and voter proxies numbering in the millions, in daily slash and burn attacks (a portion of which is unbridled racism) on Christianity and the opposition political party of mostly White, with some Black and Asian and Hispanic, American People who comprise the vast majority of American Citizens.

…a people who are an honorable Majority… a group of people for whom Barack typifies an un-repressed contempt of, and hatred for… unleashing demonizing blame upon them in a daily act of social poisoning of the minds of converts to Socialist control as a political tool for promotion of his Socialistic/Communistic Ideology; an ideology which has always served those in power at the expense of a nation’s citizens.

It typifies the outright elitist sociopathic arrogance of political extremists throughout the history of humankind.

I see his speech as a commentary that he knows the evil of what he does… and under a veil of faux humanitarianism, works to enslave for the ego gratification of total power to benefit self-serving wannabe masters who would be kings.

Biggest problem Obama has? He picked the wrong country to pull his war for power thinking he would get away with it.

I predict he and his cohorts will set back the Democratic Party 100 years… if not contained from causing further harm to this country.

I want to conclude with a comment made on BigGovernment’s blog post, Thursday Open Thread: Nobel Edition:

Harald H. · 3 hours ago

I am Norwegian, and are not even watching – ITS SAHARADE. [sic] I just tell the American people, those who gave him the price wish you the become a socialist/ communist state. Therfore [sic] Carter and Gore got it. Not the honorable Ronald Reagan. Then they want him to sign a climate treaty overriding your GREAT CONSTITUTION. There is a junior partner in government [SV], anti American, which was friends with DDR, became environmentalist the night the Berlin Wall fell. They have had Castro as their role model for 50+ years, and want to have a trade boycott Israel. Has membership in the Nobel Comity, a really creepy “lady.” They do not want to boycott Burma, because the generals are also socialists.
We in Europe rely on Christian, conservative and libertarian Americans to save us from climate mafia, and resurgence of communism. Then America should pull out of UN (a criminal enterprise] throw them out of New York, suggest Havana (Reagan asked them to move to Moscow). Like the International Criminal Court had one purpose to prosecute American – and Israeli officials. They even tried through Belgium’s court system. The left in Europe is behind it. Their goal is to break the American economy and your freedom. That’s what has prevented from making progress. Now they love Obama, they are in bed with Muslim countries and any haters of America and Israel. God Bless America. I am a conservative, libertarian and a Christian. I am a friend of America and Israel.

The official also said Obama will soon offer the Palestinians a public pledge that a Palestinian state will encompass most of the West Bank and eastern Jerusalem with the exception of what is known as the three main settlement blocs – Ariel, Gush Etzion and Maale Adumim. The pledge will likely be oral and not in the form of a letter, said the PA official.

Reid to Republicans: Let’s stop debate on ObamaCare so I can hold a fundraiser
posted at 12:15 pm on December 10, 2009 by Ed Morrissey

Harry Reid’s latest maneuver on ObamaCare has less to do with the legislation — or with the poor staffers he wants to spare from another weekend of work — than with his political survival. ABC News reports that Reid demanded that Republicans drop debate on several ObamaCare amendments so that he can send the Senate home over the weekend, supposedly to give staffers a break. But as Byron Wolf informs readers, Harry has a fundraiser he desperately needs in a re-election effort that already appears Quixotic:

But Reid, who wants to get a healthcare bill finished by Christmas, urged Republicans on the Senate floor to forego a debate on several conference reports this weekend in order to give Senators and staffers the weekend off.

“I understand the Republican leader doesn’t want us to do health care. I appreciate that. He and I have different positions on that,” said Reid. “I see no reason to punish everybody this weekend and I hope the minority will give strong consideration to the proposal that i’ve made.”

But in addition to shepherding the health care bill through the Senate, Reid is also locked in a tough reelection campaign.

And in that regard his desire for a weekend off is not so benevolent to other Senators and staffers.

It turns out Reid has a 1,000 plus per plate fundraiser scheduled for Saturday in New Orleans, according to one local paper, which also reports that Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-LA, a key swing moderate in the health care debate, will also be in attendance.

Say, wasn’t this the same Harry Reid that scheduled a cloture vote to open debate on the bill for a Saturday? At the time, he didn’t want to let his caucus go home and talk with constituents, lest they be pressured into actually representing their viewpoints on ObamaCare. Reid didn’t have much thought for the staffers and their weekend free time at that stage, did he?

Why not just give everyone the weekend off and pick up debate on Monday? Reid’s running out of legislative dates on the 2009 calendar. He wants to push this bill through Congress before the new year arrives. If they’re still debating ObamaCare in January, it won’t be going anywhere — not in an election year, and not with job approval ratings for Barack Obama and Democrats plunging downward at an increasing pace.

Republicans won’t give up their debate time. Reid will either have to skip his Big Easy fundraiser or let the schedule slip. But if he does the former, maybe Nevadans can start asking why Reid needs to go to Louisiana to raise money instead of coming home himself.

Strange spiral in Norway sky—now deemed a Russian rocket out of control?

  59. LisaInTX says:

Digital image processing is so advanced these days that it would be easy to dismiss the above picture as simply having been Photo-shopped, but this is not the case.

According to spaceweather.com (as well as several Norwegian-language news sources which do this author little good!) ,sky-watchers throughout northern Norway spotted this amazing phenomenon in the heavens on the night of Dec 8-9, 2009.

No one knows for sure what it was, but here is the account from Nick Banbury, who witnessed the event from Harstad, Norway:

It consisted initially of a green beam of light similar in color to the aurora with a mysterious rotating spiral at one end.this spiral then got bigger and bigger until it turned into a huge halo in the sky with the green beam extending down to the earth. According to the press, this could be seen all over northern Norway and must therefore have been very high up in the atmosphere to be seen hundreds of km apart

Some say it my have been a Russian rocket careening out of control, but the tight-lipped Russians deny this at present. I’ll be keeping an eye on this story for further developments.

But it is still a mystery as to what created this fantastic sight. If you’re a SETI kind of person, perhaps the aliens have at last arrived, but I don’t recommend gambling on that in Vegas. -:)

Here come another of those “Guilt by Associations” that Senator Barack Obama will try to weasel himself out of. As you may know, Philip Berg is suing Senator Obama in Civil Court. Berg wants Obama to Produce his real birth certificate to prove that he meets the citizenship requirements to be President. Rather than just product the birth certificate (is he trying to hide something?) Obama’s legal team filed a motion to dismiss. One of the Lawyers filing the motion was Joe Sandler (sandler@sandlerreiff.com) of the Washington law firm Sandler, Reiff, and Young (see the document below).

If Mr. Sandler’s name sounds familiar it Should. He is the Legal Hit Man for the Council of American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). CAIR is an organization with terrorist ties, and has been as an un-indicted co-conspirator in the Holyland Foundation Hamas Funding trial.

Sandler’s role for CAIR has been to stifle people from telling the truth about Islam. For example, last year he tried to get Jihad Expert Robert Spencer banned from speaking to the Young American Foundation, by using a threatening letter. Sandler followed up by threatening columnist Mike Adams for writing about the Spencer incident.

Look, everyone deserves legal representation that is not the Issue. The real issue is why is a candidate for President of the United States, a guy who wants to take over the role of Commander-in-Chief in the war on terror, using the Lawyer for CAIR a group with terrorist connections, to represent him in a law suit? Once again the Junior Senator from Illinois leave us with questions and no answers.

Obama Snubs in Oslo Anger Norwegians

    Thursday, December 10, 2009 2:02 PM

By: Dave Eberhart Article Font Size

Newly minted Nobel Laureate Barack Obama has stirred up some bad feelings in Oslo, Norway, by opting out of a round of events traditionally attended by the prizewinner — not the least of which is lunch with the King of Norway.

According to a report by the U.K.’s Guardian, Obama has scratched off a dinner with the Norwegian Nobel committee, a press conference, a television interview, appearances at a children’s event promoting peace, a music concert — as well as a visit to the exhibition that honors him at the Nobel peace center.

A local poll found that 44 percent of Norwegians believe it was rude of Obama to nix his scheduled lunch with King Harald, with only 34 percent responding that they believe it was okay.

“Of all the things he is cancelling, I think the worst is cancelling the lunch with the king,” said Siv Jensen, the leader of the largest party in opposition, the populist Progress party. “This is a central part of our government system. He should respect the monarchy,” she said, according to the Guardian report.

However, the Norwegian Nobel committee has been somewhat less critical of the perceived breaches in etiquette.

“We always knew that there were too many events in the program. Obama has to govern the U.S. and we were told early on that he could not commit to all of them,” conceded Geir Lundestad, secretary of the committee.

Meanwhile, peace activists opposed to the Afghanistan war held an unscheduled demonstration in honor of the American prize winner.

The Nobel peace committee has been under fire for awarding Obama the greatly coveted Peace Prize so early in his tenure as the titular head of the Free World.

I have looked at about 20 different versions of that “Swirl” in the sky over Norway—-I found ONE that showed it coming from what looked to be the horizon and from earth….it started out red/pink and as it rose higher in the sky, it expanded and the tail from the horizon disappeared…..and then the swirl started, then the center seemed to expand until it disappeared…..
Looked like either a rocket or some kind of rocket like firework????
IMO—-Looked man-made based on it coming from the horizon and the shape of it…????

    COMING NEXT TO OBAMA’S AMERICA:

Fast-Growing Christian Churches Crushed in China

  102. samiam60 says:

LINFEN, China — Towering eight stories over wheat fields, the Golden Lamp Church was built to serve nearly 50,000 worshippers in the gritty heart of China’s coal country.

But that was before hundreds of police and hired thugs descended on the mega-church, smashing doors and windows, seizing Bibles and sending dozens of worshippers to hospitals with serious injuries, members and activists say

Today, the church’s co-pastors are in jail. The gates to the church complex in the northern province of Shanxi are locked and a police armored personnel vehicle sits outside.

The closure of what may be China’s first mega-church is the most visible sign that the communist government is determined to rein in the rapid spread of Christianity, with a crackdown in recent months that church leaders call the harshest in years.

Authorities describe the actions against churches as stemming from land disputes, but the congregations under attack are among the most successful in China’s growing “house church” movement, which rejects the state-controlled church in favor of liturgical independence and a more passionate, evangelical outlook.

While the Chinese constitution guarantees freedom of religion, Christians are required to worship in churches run by state-controlled organizations: The Three-Self Patriotic Movement for Protestants and the Chinese Patriotic Catholic Association for Roman Catholics.

But more and more Chinese are opting to choose their own churches, despite them being technically illegal and subject to police harassment. Christians worshipping in China’s independent churches are believed to number upwards of 60 million, compared to about 20 million who worship in the state church, according to numbers provided by scholars and church activists.

House churches have been around for decades, but their growth has accelerated in recent decades, producing larger and larger congregations that are far more conspicuous than the small groups of friends and neighbors that used to worship in private homes, giving the movement its name.

Their expansion and growing influence has deeply unsettled China’s rulers, always suspicious of any independent social group that could challenge communist authority. Fears that Tibetan Buddhism and Islam promote separatism among Tibetans and Uighurs also drive restrictions on those religions.

“They are so afraid of rallying points developing for gathering of elements of civil society,” said Daniel Bays, who follows Chinese Christianity at Calvin College, a religious school in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

While house churches have faced varying degrees of repression depending on the region and political climate, the latest crackdown appears to specifically target the largest congregations.

Authorities want to dismantle large churches “before they grow out of total control,” said Bob Fu, a former Communist Party researcher in Beijing who now heads the China Aid Association, a Texas-based church monitoring group.

At least two other large churches have recently faced similar crackdowns.

In Beijing in October, authorities locked parishioners of Shouwang house church out of the space they had rented to worship in. In Shanghai, the Wangbang congregation faced a similar lockout. Both congregations had grown to more than 1,000 members.

Shouwang and Wangbang church leaders have not been detained, but activists fear further arrests are coming.

In a brief phone conversation, Wangbang’s pastor Cui Quan said worship continued in small groups while he fought to have their lease restored. He declined to give other details.

Christianity was long associated with foreign interference in traditionally Buddhist and Taoist China, and came under heavy attack after the 1949 Communist revolution.

The most onerous restrictions were lifted after the death of communist leader Mao Zedong in 1976. Although Christians still account for a less than 10 percent of China’s 1.3 billion people, recent years have seen rapid growth in house churches in both cities and rural areas,

Adding to official concerns about their numbers, house-church Christians also emphasize missionary work — illegal in China — and some have even operated an underground network to help smuggle North Korean refugees and Uighurs out of China in defiance of the security forces.

The Golden Lamp Church was built by husband and wife evangelists Wang Xiaoguang and Yang Rongli as a permanent home for their followers, whose numbers had soared to more than 50,000.

The couple, administrators at the provincial teachers’ college, had been preaching in the region around the city of Linfen since 1992, establishing a network of three dozen communities meeting in improvised spaces such as factory dormitories and greenhouses. They also attracted thousands to tent revival meetings.

According to Bob Fu, Shanxi authorities grumbled as the church was being built last year, but did not try to stop work and offered few, if any, signs that an impending crackdown.

On a rainy Sunday in mid-September, some 400 police officers and hired thugs descended on more than a dozen church properties around Linfen, smashing doors and windows and hauling off computers, Bibles, and church funds, according to accounts posted online by church members and their allies.

Those accounts said worshippers who resisted were beaten, with dozens hospitalized with serious injuries.

Wang, Yang, and three other church leaders were convicted on Nov. 25 on charges including illegally occupying agricultural land and assembling a crowd to disrupt traffic. Yang, 51, received a seven-year sentence, while Wang, 56, and the others received terms of three to four years. Five others were sentenced without trial to two years in a labor camp.

Other church leaders have gone into hiding.

Courts, police and government officials in Linfen refused to comment on the claims of violence and persecution. A local Communist Party spokesman said only that the case centered on the mega-church’s lack of planning approval.

“We have always supported and allowed everybody to believe in religion. But the church itself is an illegally constructed building,” said the spokesman, who would give only his surname, Wang.

A lawyer for Wang and Yang, Li Fangping, said the church had applied for permits to build the church from the local religious affairs bureau and the land use authority, but received no reply.

Almost three months after the crackdown, people in and around Linfen refuse to discuss the church, and police vehicles remain parked on virtually every corner of the neighborhood where the Golden Lamp is located.

    Morning Sami, VF!

Jesus Nearly Banned at White House Inn

  106. samiam60 says:

I can see the headlines now: “Gate-crashers Enter White House; Jesus Kept Out!” Except it almost happened. Really.

I was reading the New York Times Sunday Styles section yesterday (yep, I’m straight) when I came across an article about embattled White House Social Secretary Desiree Rogers — she’s the one who broke with previous White House tradition by inviting herself to the state dinner when she should have been at the door keeping out the loopy riff-raff.

But in the twelfth paragraph of the article there was a real bombshell: It said that earlier this year at a luncheon with other previous White House social secretaries, Ms. Rogers claimed that this year the White House would have a “non-religious” Christmas celebration. (For those of you confused by that, it’s just like a “non-religious” Yom Kippur celebration, or a “non-Irish” St. Patrick’s Day celebration, or an “international” July 4th celebration.)

    The Times article continued:

“The lunch conversation inevitably turned to whether the White House would display its crèche, customarily placed in a prominent spot in the East Room. Ms. Rogers, this participant said, replied that the Obamas did not intend to put the manger scene on display — a remark that drew an audible gasp from the tight-knit social secretary sisterhood. (A White House official confirmed that there had been internal discussions about making Christmas more inclusive and whether to display the crèche.)”

In the next sentence we learn that this radical idea was eventually scotched. (Perhaps the “audible gasp” from the bipartisan audience tipped them off.) But the fact that it was going to happen reveals a level of political tone-deafness in the current administration that is staggering. To most average Americans — who did not grow up in an Ivy-League, inside-the-Beltway hothouse governed by the rules of the French Revolution — the idea of keeping Jesus out of “the people’s house” at Christmas evokes disturbing images of the Holy Family being turned away from the Inn, or worse yet, images of Herod. But to a super-secular White House afraid to offend anyone — except for average Americans — it probably just seemed like another fab “progressive” innovation.

If President Obama wanted to fuel the fears of every serious Christian in America and actually prove that he is every bad thing they’ve ever heard about him on every crazy Web site, the idea of symbolically taking Jesus out of the White House at Christmas would be just the ticket!

Let’s face it: “Brand Obama” dodged a bullet by not going forward with this terrible idea, but only barely dodged it. After all, the facts of the story are right there in The New York Times for all to see.

What can be said of an administration so out of touch with the people it governs? Previous American presidents seemed to understand that while America is not “officially” a Christian nation, it is a nation whose Founders all believed in a Creator, and whose people are overwhelmingly Christian. Even Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton had the créche displayed during their administrations. What is going on?

Is this administration so afraid to offend people of other beliefs that they will seriously consider obliterating basic American traditions? As a friend of mine put it: their logic is like saying that serving American food at the White House state dinner might offend the Indians in the room.

But it’s never offensive to simply be yourself. What can be terribly offensive is bending over backwards when its absolutely unnecessary. Or bowing when it’s absolutely unnecessary. People may begin to suspect that you simply have spine issues — and yes, I mean that metaphorically.
