Obama to Rolling Stone mag: FOX is ‘ultimately destructive’ (to his socialist plans)

A clear and present danger to all America

Well that ya go… FOX News, according to The One, is destroying the country because, according to him, they have a point of view he does not agree with.

Sounds like something right out of Socialist/Communist Dictator Hugh Chavez’s mouth.

From Rolling Stone:

What do you think of Fox News? Do you think it’s a good institution for America and for democracy?

“Look, as president, I swore to uphold the Constitution, and part of that Constitution is a free press. We’ve got a tradition in this country of a press that oftentimes is opinionated. The golden age of an objective press was a pretty narrow span of time in our history. Before that, you had folks like Hearst who used their newspapers very intentionally to promote their viewpoints.”

“I think Fox is part of that tradition — it is part of the tradition that has a very clear, undeniable point of view. It’s a point of view that I disagree with.”

“It’s a point of view that I think is ultimately destructive for the long-term growth of a country that has a vibrant middle class and is competitive in the world.”

“But as an economic enterprise, it’s been wildly successful. And I suspect that if you ask Mr. Murdoch what his number-one concern is, it’s that Fox is very successful.”

Casting a free press as the evil empire, Mr Obama? The scourge of the Middle Class? You make that up yourself or did George Soros write that for ya?

Sooo… you are the self-proclaimed “Defender of the Middle Class?” Is that why you attack the Tea Party and call it a special interest funded and controlled entity thus denying it is a Middle Class Grassroots Movement?

More from the Rolling Stones interview:

“There’s no doubt that the infrastructure and the financing of the Tea Party come from some very traditional, very powerful, special-interest lobbies.”-Barack Obama

The One is looking into his crystal ball and seeing an end of his Socialist agenda to drag the Unites States into third-world status. Why does American Exceptionalism offend him so much? For the same reasons it offends every enemy of the United States. This country stands in the way of world enslavement.

Racial animus is not the stuff of policy disagreement, it’s a constitutional travesty.

Those who read this space know I am not a fan of the Republicans’ vaunted “Pledge to America.” I’m for simple pledges, the kind that get back to basics. If the Republican party is interested in making a pledge like that — a pledge that will resonate with the vast majority of the American people — here’s a suggestion: Promise an unwavering commitment to the principle of equal protection of the law for every American citizen. Promise, therefore, that Congress will investigate weighty allegations that the Obama Justice Department is engaged in racist law-enforcement practices.

New Cybersecurity Bill Gives Obama ‘Power To Shut Down Companies’

Businesses who don’t follow government orders would be suspended for at least 90 days with no congressional oversight

    Paul Joseph Watson
    Prison Planet.com
    Tuesday, September 28, 2010

An amalgamated cybersecurity bill that lawmakers hope to pass before the end of the year includes new powers which would allow President Obama to shut down not only entire areas of the Internet, but also businesses and industries that fail to comply with government orders following the declaration of a national emergency – increasing fears that the legislation will be abused as a political tool.

The draft bill is a combination of two pieces of legislation originally crafted by Senators Lieberman and Rockefeller. One of the differences between the new bill and the original Lieberman version is that the Internet “kill switch” power has been limited to 90 days without congressional oversight, rather than the original period of four months contained in the Lieberman bill.

In other words, President Obama can issue an emergency declaration that lasts 30 days and he can renew it for a further 60 days before congress can step in to oversee the powers.

The new powers would give Obama a free hand to not only shut down entire areas of the Internet and block all Internet traffic from certain countries, but under the amalgamated bill he would also have the power to completely shut down industries that don’t follow government orders, according to a Reuters summary of the new bill.

“Industries, companies or portions of companies could be temporarily shut down, or be required to take other steps to address threats,” states the report, citing concerns about an “imminent threat to the U.S. electrical grid or other critical infrastructure such as the water supply or financial network.”

The only protection afforded to companies under the new laws is that they would have to be defined as “critical” in order to come under government regulation, but since the government itself would decide to what companies this label applies, it’s hardly a comforting layer of security.

“Even in the absence of an imminent threat, companies could face government scrutiny. Company employees working in cybersecurity would need appropriate skills. It also would require companies to report cyber threats to the government, and to have plans for responding to a cyber attack,” states the report.

As we have highlighted, the threat from cyber-terrorists to the U.S. power grid or water supply is minimal. The perpetrators of an attack on such infrastructure would have to have direct physical access to the systems that operate these plants to cause any damage. The recent Stuxnet malware attack, for example, was introduced and spread through a physical USB device, not via the public Internet.

Any perceived threat from the public Internet to these systems is therefore completely contrived and strips bare what many fear is the real agenda behind cybersecurity – to enable the government to regulate free speech on the Internet.

Handing Obama the power to shut down certain companies or businesses is likely to heighten already existing fears that the new cybersecurity federal bureaucracy could be used as a political tool.

As we reported back in March, the Obama administration’s release of the Comprehensive National Cybersecurity Initiative, a government plan to “secure” (or control) the nation’s public and private sector computer networks, coincided with Democrats attempting to claim that the independent news website The Drudge Report was serving malware, an incident Senator Jim Inhofe described as a deliberate ploy “to discourage people from using Drudge”.

Senator Joe Lieberman appeared to admit that the legislation had more to do with simply protecting US infrastructure when he told CNN’s Candy Crowley that the bill was intended to mimic the Communist Chinese system of Internet policing.

“Right now China, the government, can disconnect parts of its Internet in case of war and we need to have that here too,” said Lieberman.

As we have documented, the Chinese government does not disconnect parts of the Internet because of genuine security concerns, it habitually does so only to oppress and silence victims of government abuse and atrocities, and to strangle dissent against the state, a practice many fear is the ultimate intention of cybersecurity in the United States.

The implementation of the cybersecurity apparatus would represent another huge expansion of the federal government, creating an Office of Cyber Policy within the executive branch and also “A new National Center for Cybersecurity and Communications (NCCC) within the Department of Homeland Security, led by a separate director who would enforce cybersecurity policies throughout the government and the private sector.”

Lawmakers have indicated that they intend to push through the bill before the end of the year, though with Congress set to leave Friday amidst deadlock on a number of issues, cybersecurity looks like it will have to wait until mid-November, providing its opponents with extra time to point out the inherent threats the legislation poses to free speech and free enterprise.

    Good afternoon Tellit!

I am in total agreement with Rev. Wayne Perryman.

If WE THE PEOPLE vote for Herman Cain for President or Vice President, are we still racists? Herman Cain is a black Tea Party member. I agree with his Conservative values. I agree with Justice Thomas’ point of view. I would have voted for Condoliza Rice if she would have ran for President and hoped she would have run.

Tea Party as racist? BULLSH!T! It’s point of view, not color.

What gets me is the Church organizations that are going… So do they teach that Jesus was a Communist? Oh, let me soften that up a bit. Do they teach Jesus believes in Social Justice?

  16. VotingFemale says:

With regards to the bill concerning the internet off switch at the president’s discretion for 60 days…

They likely will try to ram that through in their lame duck session…

Yes, they want total control of the country… and I am willing to wager they have been discussing the feasibility and ins and outs of suspending the mid-term elections. we are talking desperate men who can touch what they want to own in its entirety.

This is where it starts getting real… do they have the guts to try it?

I hope not… for that would certainly split the country apart.

  17. VotingFemale says:

That surprises you? It is part of the communist manifesto…

I did a piece back in 2008 titled “Jesus was a Centrist”

And you know… the leftists comments were that he was a liberal… yet had no comeback to “What is Cesar’s belongs to Cesar” and that Jesus took from no rich man what was his… he preached to save the souls of rich and poor alike… that willing charity was in itself a blessing… and that there would always be those who are poor. always…

All that is so contrary to the teachings of Socialism and Communism who instead teach class warfare and that the middle class is the enemy of the poor.

If obama claims that we have free speech, then why did he create an office to single out bloggers who spoke against him. I forgot the name of that office. 19. VotingFemale says:

Arlene, Michelle Malkin was one of the driving forces to shut down that turn in a blogger e-mail address. As far as I know it is no longer in operation.

UN ‘to appoint space ambassador to greet alien visitors’ (Mrs Othman)
    Telegraph | Sept 26th, 2010

Posted on 09/27/2010 11:20:36 AM PDT by TaraP

A space ambassador could be appointed by the United Nations to act as the first point of contact for aliens trying to communicate with Earth.

Mazlan Othman, a Malaysian astrophysicist, is set to be tasked with co-ordinating humanity’s response if and when extraterrestrials make contact.

Aliens who landed on earth and asked: “Take me to your leader” would be directed to Mrs Othman. She will set out the details of her proposed new role at a Royal Society conference in Buckinghamshire next week.

The 58-year-old is expected to tell delegates that the proposal has been prompted by the recent discovery of hundreds of planets orbiting other starts, which is thought to make the discovery of extraterrestrial life more probable than ever before.

Mrs Othman is currently head of the UN’s little known Office for Outer Space Affairs.

Hubbard, dean of Columbia Business School, joined Dan Gross and I to discuss the “major structural imbalances” facing America, chief among them being the government’s profligate spending.

Hubbard, you may recall, was chairman of the President’s Council of Economic Advisers during George W. Bush’s first term. As you might expect, he is a strong advocate of smaller government and lower taxes. But Hubbard and Navarro, a business professor at UC Irvine, are also harshly critical of Bush’s “gross mismanagement” of the fiscal stimulus bequeathed to his administration by President Clinton. Specifically, Hubbard chastises his former boss for the creation of a new unfunded federal mandate, Medicare Part D.

But if Bush was a big spender, President Obama is “taking it to a whole other level,” Hubbard says, citing the familiar critiques of ObamaCare and Financial Reform and “excess government spending” in general.

In short, Hubbard believes Obama inherited a mess but has made it worse with nearly every one of his major policy initiatives and general governing philosophy.

“We as a nation cannot resolve what have become deep and systemic structural imbalances in our economy simply by throwing more money and more and more regulations and more and more taxes at the problem,” Hubbard and Navarro write.

Stay tuned for additional segments from this interview where Hubbard discusses proposed solutions to many of our most intractable problems, including housing, the trade deficit with China and energy policy.

Austerity whips up anger, protests mount in Europe

BRUSSELS (AFP) – – Painful cuts by overspending EU countries come head to a head with mounting social anger on Wednesday when labour leaders call angry workers onto streets right across the continent.

Set for its largest Europe-wide protest for a decade is Brussels where labour leaders are planning to bring 100,000 people from 30 countries to say “No to austerity!”

“We will demonstrate to voice our concern over the economic and social context, which will be compounded by austerity measures,” John Monks, general secretary of the European Trade Union Confederation.

The protest, the biggest such march since 2001 when 80,000 people spilled into the EU capital, is being held to coincide with a plan to fine governments running up deficits.

Detailed proposals are due to be released that day by the 27-nation bloc’s executive arm, the European Commission, with the continent’s finance ministers also gathering in Brussels this week.

Millions of jobs fell off the European map in the global downturn and many more look set to be squeezed as governments axe public spending.

“This is a crucial day for Europe,” said Monks, “because our governments, virtually all of them, are about to embark on solid cuts in public expenditures.

“They’re doing this at a time where the economy is very close to recession, and almost certainly you’ll see the economy go back into recession as the effect of these cuts take place.”

In Spain, where trade unions have called a general strike on Wednesday, unemployment has more than doubled, with one in five workers jobless in July.

Madrid in consequence is looking at a drastic overhaul of its labour legislation to ease flexi-time and hiring and firing. Pensions are frozen, wages cut for civil servants and VAT taxes on the rise.

But elsewhere labour leaders are equally concerned. At a glance: The human cost of the crisis in Europe

Portugal’s leading labour confederation, the CGTP, which is close to the communists, has called protests in Lisbon and Porto and hopes for more than 10,000 participants.

Poland’s main unions, Solidarity and OPZZ, expect “several thousand” at a protest outside government headquarters.

Similar marches are scheduled in Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia and Serbia, with labour leaders across the board clamouring for growth and protesting the injustice of workers paying for the errors of the financial sector.

“Those responsible for this crisis, the banks, the financial markets and the ratings agencies are all too quick in asking for help from states and public budgets and today want the workers to pay for their debts,” said French labour leader Jean-Claude Mailly, who heads the FO union.

But while Europe tries to clean up its post-recession books, a backlash has begun among voters focused on vast anticipated numbers of public sector job cuts.

The worker backlash was clearly seen in Britain, where Labour unions, lawmakers and party members handed their leadership to left-leaning Ed Miliband — in a surprise, last-minute defeat for his better-known, more centrist brother and former foreign secretary David.

“We’re a rich part of the world,” said Monks.

“We’re going to keep this campaign going, fight for growth, fight for jobs, fight to protect social Europe. Don’t go down the austerity route.”

From Dreams of My Father : “I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn’t speak to my own. It was into my father’s image, the black man, son of Africa, that I’d packed all the attributes I sought in myself, the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, Dubois and Mandela.”

Joe Biden’s “Stop Whining” Remark Incites Backlash from the Left

The White House’s latest attempts to mobilize liberals ahead of the midterm elections have once again generated a backlash from the left.

Progressive bloggers and activists were up in arms after Vice President Joe Biden said at a Democratic fundraiser yesterday that the party’s base should “stop whining.” His remarks were echoed by President Obama in a newly-released Rolling Stone interview in which he says his supporters need to “buck up.”

The liberal community is pointing to the remarks as the latest examples of the Obama administration’s disinterest in listening to its core backers — and they it’s an unwise move so close to the midterm elections.

John Aravosis of Americablog.com charged that belittling the Democratic base is “now clearly a White House strategy.”

“I can’t for the life of me understand what the White House thinks it gains by continually poking the base – the people who actually vote in mid-term elections – only five weeks before the election,” Aravosis wrote. “The President, rather famously, routinely refuses to stand up to conservative Democrats and Republicans, and it’s likely the primary reason we’re about to lose the House.”

Aravosis contends that Mr. Obama should have made the economic stimulus package bigger but instead chose to compromise with moderates.

“The entire country, all of us with friends and family members currently out of a job, are paying dearly for this mistake,” he wrote. “So for him and his to tell us and ours to stop whining is pretty pathetic.”

Adam Green, co-founder of the Progressive Change Campaign Committee, suggested the vice president should be thanking, not chiding, groups like his, for their fundraising and get-out-the-vote efforts. PCCC recently raised $100,000 for progressive New Hampshire House candidate Ann McLane Kuster and is organizing hundreds of thousands of phone calls to voters ahead of Election Day.

“The ‘professional left’ is busting our butt to mobilize progressive voters in 2010, picking up the ball that this White House dropped when they refused to fight for the overwhelmingly popular public option, refused to break up the big banks, and demobilized Obama voters who expected this president to at least fight for big change,” Green said.

Salon’s Glenn Greenwald, a critic of the Obama administration’s record on civil liberties, took to Twitter to point to evidence that Mr. Obama has continued the anti-terror policies of the Bush administration. He then asked, “Do they really think ‘stop whining’ is an effective message? Apparently.”

Marcy Wheeler, another critic of the president’s national security policies, said on Twitter, “As much as I focus on torture & assassination, I’d buck up a lot faster if the Admin focused on helping people save their homes.”

Mr. Obama’s and Biden’s recent remarks come on the heels of a confrontation between the White House and liberal bloggers, who accused the administration of “hippie punching.” In other words, they accused the White House of relying on liberal voters to mobilize on Election Day while ignoring liberal goals like ending the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan or ending the military’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy.

Democratic National Committee Chairman Tim Kaine said on the CBS “Early Show” today that Democrats will have to mobilize the base but also appeal to right-tilting independents this November.

  53. arlenearmy says:

    Tellit
Basically, Perryman is saying that a black person’s grievance has less worth when the accused perpetrator is black. But for a black person’s grievance has greater worth when the other party is white.

This is a very sad but true scenario: Look what happens when there is black on black crimes. If I got killed by a black person, probably not a damn thing would be done about it. I would be just another black woman dead in the grave. And the crime would be filed in the archives. But, if I got killed by a white person, the cops would more likely react. This is saying that society has given my life less value when it is touch by a black; but that if I want my life to be increased in value, its got to be snuff out by a white person. Again, this is sad but true.
