It’s about ignoring voter majority will, not anti-incumbency

It’s All So Simple…

We Elect people to Congress
to represent majority voters’ will

Majority Voter Opposition to Obamacare, TARP, the Recovery Act, and the rest of the massive spending bills was ignored by the Congressional Majority who voted for these bills in defiance of majority voter will.

We were ignored and we are now cleaning these bastards out of office.

The clean out will also include Republicans who sold us out, not just so-called ‘Democrats.’

There is no place for Progressives, be they Republican or Democrat.

I use the term ‘Democrat’ loosely… the Democrat Party, as we have known it no longer exists.

That party has been swallowed by radical Socialists/Marxists/Communists who are hell bent on destroying the essence and fabric of America. Such is their hatred of us and what makes America the most exceptional country ever to exist in the history of civilization.

The Progressives/Socialists/Marxists would have us all believe what is going on is simple “Anti-Incumbent” sentiment. It serves their purposes to say so because they want to dodge responsibility for what they are doing, and who and what they are.

Too bad for them… they are trying to tell us what we think. lol
We will teach them what we think and what we are going to do about it.

Take the case of this guy, Alan Mollohan:

Alan Mollohan just got his ass handed to him on a silver platter by his constituents in the WV primary, beaten by a Democrat who opposes Obamacare and Cap & Trade.

Yes Mollohan is an incumbent… 14 terms; a Democrat from West Virginia serving in the House of Representatives.

Mollohan was too self-absorbed, self-serving and elitist to give a crap about voters and much more interested in sucking up to Obama and Pelosi.

Mollohan just got FIRED!

    ( – A bill introduced this month in Congress would put the federal and state governments in the business of tracking how fat, or skinny, American children are.

    States receiving federal grants provided for in the bill would be required to annually track the Body Mass Index of all children ages 2 through 18. The grant-receiving states would be required to mandate that all health care providers in the state determine the Body Mass Index of all their patients in the 2-to-18 age bracket and then report that information to the state government. The state government, in turn, would be required to report the information to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for analysis.

    U.S. troops in Afghanistan could soon be awarded a medal for not doing something, a precedent-setting award that would be given for “courageous restraint” for holding fire to save civilian lives.

    The proposal is now circulating in the Kabul headquarters of the International Security Assistance Force, a command spokesman confirmed Tuesday.

    “The idea is consistent with our approach,” explained Air Force Lt. Col. Tadd Sholtis. “Our young men and women display remarkable courage every day, including situations where they refrain from using lethal force, even at risk to themselves, in order to prevent possible harm to civilians. In some situations our forces face in Afghanistan, that restraint is an act of discipline and courage not much different than those seen in combat actions.”

    I have sent a letter to Prez Obama to help me with a few details: (lol)

    Dear Mr. President:
    I’m planning to move my family and extended family into Mexico for my health, and I would like to ask you to assist me. We’re planning to simply walk across the border from the U.S. Into Mexico , and we’ll need your help to make a few arrangements. We plan to skip all the legal stuff like visas, passports, immigration quotas and… See More laws. I’m sure they handle those things the same way you do here. So, would you mind telling your buddy, President Calderon, that I’m on my way over? Please let him know that I will be expecting the following:

    1. Free medical care for my entire family.

    2. English-speaking government bureaucrats for all services I might need, whether I use them or not.

    3. Please print all Mexican government forms in English.

    4. I want my grand-kids to be taught Spanish by English-speaking (bi-lingual) teachers.

    5. Tell their schools they need to include classes on American culture and history.

    6. I want my grand-kids to see the American flag on one of the flag poles at their school.

    7. Please plan to feed my grand-kids at school for both breakfast and lunch.

    8. I will need a local Mexican driver’s license so I can get easy access to government services.

    9. I do plan to get a car and drive in Mexico , but, I don’t plan to purchase car insurance, and I probably won’t make any special effort to learn local traffic laws.

    10. In case one of the Mexican police officers does not get the memo from their president to leave me alone, please be sure that every patrol car has at least one English-speaking officer.

    11. I plan to fly the U.S. Flag from my house top, put U S. Flag decals on my car, and have a gigantic celebration on July 4th. I do not want any complaints or negative comments from the locals.

    12. I would also like to have a nice job without paying any taxes, or have any labor or tax laws enforced on any business I may start.

    13. Please have the president tell all the Mexican people to be extremely nice and never say critical things about me or my family, or about the strain we might place on their economy.

    14. I want to receive free food stamps.

    15. Naturally, I’ll expect free rent subsidies.

    16. I’ll need Income tax credits so although I don’t pay Mexican Taxes, I’ll receive money from the government.

    17. Please arrange it so that the Mexican Gov’t pays $4,500 to help me buy a new car.

    18. Oh yes, I almost forgot, please enroll me free into the Mexican Social Security program so that I’ll get a monthly income in retirement.

    I know this is an easy request because you already do all these things for all his people who walk over to the U.S. From Mexico . I am sure that President Calderon won’t mind returning the favor if you ask him nicely. Thank you so much for your kind help. You’re the man!!!

    We need to determine who is on the side of the Constitution.
    Anybody who is not, is out. Very simple.
    If they are questioned on the Constitution and cannot answer, or dance around the question, they are out.
    If they have sworn to uphold the Constitution and yet do not know what is contained within it, they are out.
    The present administration is taking advantage of the level of ignorance that exists within the populace.
    The regime has implemented restrictions on free speech over the internet, under the onerous policy of regulation.

    The tornadoes died down before it hit our area. My husband used to tell me that if a tornado comes, for me to go to center of house to the walk-in closet. I had gathered flash lights, candles, bottle water, pillow, cb & radio, blanket & his photo.

    I sat in closet quietly while listening to radio not knowing if I was gonna die, but was mentally prepared for the end as I know it. It was dark outside cause it was nite-time, and then suddenly for about 5 minutes the outside was lit up like it was sun in the sky. Weird.

    Palin, a potential 2012 presidential candidate, told National Rifle Association members during their annual meeting that the only thing stopping Obama and his Democratic allies from trying to ban guns is political backlash.

    “Don’t doubt for a minute that, if they thought they could get away with it, they would ban guns and ban ammunition and gut the Second Amendment,” said Palin, a lifelong NRA member who once had a baby shower at a local gun range in Alaska. “It’s the job of all of us at the NRA and its allies to stop them in their tracks.”

    Gun enthusiasts have trumpeted fears that their rights would erode under a Democrat-led White House and Congress, but President Barack Obama has largely been silent on issues such as reviving an assault weapons ban or strengthening background checks at gun shows. Obama also signed a law allowing people to carry loaded guns in national parks.

    Palin, the GOP’s 2008 vice presidential nominee, also praised tea party activism during an appearance in Charlotte, and scoffed at suggestions that the movement had roots in violence, racism or rednecks before adding: “I don’t really have a problem with the redneck part of it, to tell you the truth.”

    She proceeded to read several redneck jokes off her phone and talked about how she could relate to some of them.

    During an event earlier Friday in Washington sponsored by an anti-abortion group, she challenged Republican women to help the GOP “take this country back” and elect anti-abortion lawmakers. She praised female leaders of the tea party movement and invoked the 2008 acceptance speech where she compared herself to a pit bull.

    “You don’t want to mess with moms who are rising up,” Palin said at the Susan B. Anthony List event. “If you thought pit bulls were tough, you don’t want to mess with mama grizzlies.”

    Palin said she understood how some women might consider abortion, citing her own experiences as the mother of a child with Down syndrome and the parent of an unwed teen mother. Last year, Palin said that “for a fleeting moment” she considered having an abortion when she learned of her son Trig’s prognosis.

    But she said Friday that abortion is morally wrong and women should carry a fetus to term.

    “It may not be the easiest path, but it’s always the right path,” she said.

    She said Obama is “the most pro-abortion president ever to occupy the White House” and asserted that the health care law would fund abortions.

    In fact, Obama’s health care law would not allow federal dollars to pay for elective abortions. Catholic hospitals and organizations of Catholic nuns backed the measure. U.S. Catholic bishops and major anti-abortion groups opposed it, arguing that federal dollars could end up paying for abortions.

    Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILY’s List, said Palin talks a good game, but her version of what American women want doesn’t honor freedom and independence. She mentioned the Democratic lawmakers whom Palin had targeted for their votes for health care overhaul.

    “First she puts targets on their back, then she wants the government in their bedrooms — what is Sarah Palin doing to Western women?” said Schriock. EMILY’S List helps candidates who back abortion rights.

    Palin also criticized the media, singling out their coverage of her daughter Bristol, whose pregnancy was announced days after Palin was named the vice presidential nominee. Bristol Palin is a single mother who works on an abstinence-only campaign.

    She said some young women would see what happened to Bristol and perhaps be encouraged to seek an abortion instead of facing similar criticism.

    Palin also said Friday that the United States should continue to drill for oil despite the Gulf spill.

    She made the comments in an interview with ABC News.

    Both boats crossed the Northern Limit Line, the maritime border between the two countries, and ventured about 1.2 miles (2 kilometers) into South Korean waters before turning back, Yonhap said.

    North Korea has claimed the line, which covers rich crab fishing grounds, should be drawn farther south.

    The border was the scene of fatal naval skirmishes in 1999 and 2002. The two Koreas also exchanged naval gunfire in 2004 and 2009.

    “When you have a pay czar in the White House who thinks that they have enough power and knowledge to set the salaries for hundreds of people in dozens of companies, in an industry they’ve never been in — I mean, if that’s not socialist — if the government is the largest owner of General Motors and Chrysler, the largest funder of AIG — they just nationalized student loans so they’re now all 100 percent government program,” Gingrich told “Fox News Sunday.”

    “If you can get $757 billion out of the Congress and no elected official has even read the bill, that’s the behavior of a Chicago-style machine,” Gingrich added.

    Gingrich, who just published the explosive book “To Save America,” cited polls showing greater than 50 percent of Americans want to repeal the health care law.

    He also noted that a federal judge has declared the National Day of Prayer unconstitutional, “which if it weren’t so serious it would be laughable.”

    Gingrich described the case of two Connecticut lawmakers who have introduced legislation that would keep Catholics from working in emergency rooms because of their objections to performing certain procedures.

    Gingrich said that he stands by his argument that the “secular-socialist machine” represents as great a threat to America as Nazi Germany or the Soviet Union, not in the sense of the immorality of those deadly regimes, but as a “threat to our way of life.”

    “The degree to which the secular-socialist left represents a fundamental replacement of America, a very different world view, a very different outcome, I think is a very serious threat to our way of life.

    Echoing Republican arguments of the 1980s, Gingrich also is calling for the Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Education to be abolished and replaced. He said it’s impossible to reform an agency that has spent two generations recruiting antibusiness, anticommercial bureaucrats.

    On Social Security, Gingrich said he wants people to be able to manage their own accounts based on their personal contributions to the fund. Returning to the question of whether the stock market is a safe enough place to house retirement investments given recent volatility,

    Gingrich said someone retiring today who has been investing for 30 years is ahead of the current “transfer system.”

    “When Social Security paid its first check, there were 42 taxpayers for every recipient. When my grandchildren, who are eight and 10, get to be Social Security recipients, there may well be two taxpayers for every recipient. You can’t sustain that,” he said.

    The dinner will also be the official debut for new White House social secretary Julianna Smoot, who took over two months ago. Smoot has faced seemingly endless comparisons to her predecessor, Desiree Rogers, who left the job after weeks of criticism over her role in the incident and demands from lawmakers that she testify about it to Congress.

    The White House announced in March that Calderon and his wife, Margarita Zavala, would be the guests of honor. But compared to the frenzy over the Obamas’ first dinner — when it seemed all anyone wanted to know was how they might tweak this staid yet elegant White House tradition, who made the cut for the guest list and which fashion designer would create the first lady’s evening gown — the buzz over the coming Calderon fiesta seems to be lacking.

    “The first of anything always gets a lot of attention,” said Anita McBride, chief of staff to first lady Laura Bush.

    Dinner buzz may have been drowned out, too, by a cascade of events since the White House announcement, including passage of a health care bill, the signing of a new nuclear weapons treaty with Russia, a summit on nuclear security in Washington attended by dozens of foreign leaders, the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, the attempted car bombing in New York’s Times Square and last week’s visit by Afghan President Hamid Karzai.

    But expect the chatter to intensify as dinnertime nears.

    “We are still, to this day, receiving phone calls from people who want to be invited,” Ricardo Alday, a spokesman for the Mexican embassy in Washington, said late last week.

    As with the first dinner, Mrs. Obama is bringing in a guest chef to cook for around 200 guests — Rick Bayless, whose upscale contemporary Mexican restaurant Topolobampo in the Obamas’ Chicago hometown is one of their favorites. Bayless has said the Obamas usually begin meals at the restaurant with tortilla soup and guacamole. So could those dishes, or versions of them, be on Wednesday’s menu? The White House wouldn’t say.

    The last state dinner for Mexico was on Sept. 5, 2001, less than a week before the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington. President George W. Bush and his wife, Laura, treated then-Mexican President Vicente Fox and his new bride, Martha, to a dinner of bison crusted in pumpkin seeds and poblano whipped potatoes, followed by a fireworks display over the South Lawn.

    The unprecedented attack derailed the two leaders’ promises to collaborate on a revamp of U.S. immigration policy.

    Immigration will be among the issues on the agenda when Obama and Calderon meet Wednesday. The issue remains unresolved and passions have been stirred anew by Arizona’s tough new law targeting illegal immigration from Mexico. Calderon has said the law is discriminatory, and he has warned that relations with Arizona will suffer as a result.

    Calderon and Obama have met more than a half-dozen times since Obama became president, but it’s their wives who appear to be settling into a friendship.

    Zavala visited Mrs. Obama at the White House in February, and Mrs. Obama visited Zavala at her home, Los Pinos, during a visit to Mexico last month. At several public events in Mexico, the first ladies laughed together and chatted. They also have some things in common: both are lawyers who gave up their careers to support their husbands’ political ambitions and raise their children. The Obamas have two daughters: Malia, 11, and Sasha, 8. Zavala and Calderon have three kids: Maria, 13; Luis Felipe, 10; and Juan Pablo, 7.

    For sure, the Obamas do not want a repeat of what happened in November. Nor does Calderon want his moment in the American spotlight to be eclipsed.

    The White House reviewed its procedures after the Nov. 24 dinner and decided to station a staff member at the security checkpoint at social events to help resolve discrepancies about guests.

    Signs of another tent being built on the South Lawn suggest that at least a portion of Wednesday evening’s festivities will take place outside of the White House itself.

    Among the rich and famous of Mexican heritage who have been invited are recently retired golfer Lorena Ochoa, who is perhaps the best-known, non-soccer-playing athlete in Mexico, and actresses Salma Hayek and “Desperate Housewives” star Eva Longoria Parker. Longoria Parker helped host a celebration of Latin music at the White House last year.

    Obama’s Aunt Granted Asylum, Stopping Her Deportation to Kenya

    Zeituni Onyango, the half-sister of President Obama’s late father, testified earlier this year in Boston in an asylum case that was re-opened after she illegally stayed in the United States following a 2004 deportation order.

    CLEVELAND — A U.S. immigration court granted asylum to President Barack Obama’s African aunt, allowing her to stay in the country, her attorneys said Monday.

    The decision was mailed Friday and comes three months after Kenya native Zeituni Onyango, the half-sister of Obama’s late father, testified at a closed hearing in Boston, where she arrived in a wheelchair and two doctors testified in support of her case.

    The basis for her asylum request hadn’t been made public. People who seek asylum must show that they face persecution in their homeland on the basis of religion, race, nationality, political opinion or membership in a social group.

    Her lawyer, Margaret Wong, said last year that Onyango first applied for asylum “due to violence in Kenya.” The East African nation is fractured by cycles of electoral violence every five years.

    In a November interview with The Associated Press, Onyango said she was disabled and was learning to walk again after being paralyzed from Guillain-Barre syndrome, an autoimmune disorder.

    Onyango moved to the United States in 2000. Her first asylum request was rejected, and she was ordered deported in 2004. But she didn’t leave the country and continued to live in public housing in Boston.

    Onyango’s status as an illegal immigrant was revealed just days before Obama was elected in November 2008. Obama said he did not know his aunt was living here illegally and believes laws covering the situation should be followed.

    A judge later agreed to suspend her deportation order and reopen her asylum case.

    Wong has said that Obama wasn’t involved in the Boston hearing. The White House also said it was not helping Onyango with legal fees.

    In his memoir, “Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance,” Obama affectionately referred to Onyango as “Auntie Zeituni” and described meeting her during his 1988 trip to Kenya.

    NEW YORK — The Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Barack Obama’s controversial former pastor, said in a letter obtained by The Associated Press that he is “toxic” to the Obama administration and that the president “threw me under the bus.”

    In his strongest language to date about the administration’s 2-year-old rift with the Chicago pastor, Wright told a group raising money for African relief that his pleas to release frozen funds for use in earthquake-ravaged Haiti would likely be ignored.

    “No one in the Obama administration will respond to me, listen to me, talk to me or read anything that I write to them. I am ‘toxic’ in terms of the Obama administration,” Wright wrote the president of Africa 6000 International earlier this year.

    “I am ‘radioactive,’ Sir. When Obama threw me under the bus, he threw me under the bus literally!” he wrote. “Any advice that I offer is going to be taken as something to be avoided. Please understand that!”

    The White House didn’t respond to requests for comment Monday about Wright’s remarks. Several phone messages left by the AP for Wright at the Trinity United Church of Christ, where he is listed as a pastor emeritus, were not returned. Wright’s spokeswoman, his daughter Jeri Wright, did not immediately comment on the substance of the letter.

    Then-Sen. Obama cut ties with Wright when his more incendiary remarks became an Internet sensation in the spring of 2008. At a National Press Club appearance in April 2008, he claimed the U.S. government could plant AIDS in the black community, praised Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan and suggested Obama was putting his pastor at arm’s length for political purposes while privately agreeing with him.

    Obama denounced Wright as “divisive and destructive” and later cut ties to the pastor altogether and left Wright’s church.

    The letter was sent Feb. 18 to Joseph Prischak, the president of Africa 6000 International in Erie, Pa. Wright subsequently agreed to write a letter to Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner on the group’s behalf to try to get access to millions of dollars.

    Wright’s original letter ranting against Obama’s treatment of him surfaced in an appeal filed by federal inmate Arthur Morrison, boxing great Muhammad Ali’s one-time manager, who was convicted of making phone threats.

    Charles Lofton, Wright’s executive assistant, told The Associated Press that he faxed a copy of the letter to Morrison’s attorney as requested. A copy of the faxed letter signed by Wright showed that it was sent from the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago on March 31 to the fax number for Goodwin’s law office in Tulsa, Okla.

    Prischak, of Africa 6000 International, is a business partner of Morrison, who has been imprisoned for nearly 18 years after he was convicted of making phone threats between 1989 to 1992 to hospitals where an ex-girlfriend worked.

    Prischak told Wright in a Feb. 11 letter that he was seeking the clergyman’s help in reaching out to the U.S. Treasury Department. He said that Uday Hussein, the son of Saddam Hussein, had entrusted 87 million British pounds in 1990 to Morrison and Ali to buy pharmaceuticals, milk and food for the children of Iraq.

    Prischak said the money was never spent because Morrison was imprisoned. He sought Wright’s help in lobbying U.S. authorities to permit 25 million British pounds in interest from the money held in an overseas account to be allowed to be sent to faith-based groups for the children of Haiti.,2933,593043,00.html

The ideological polarization we spied in Utah two weeks ago was on display again in Pennsylvania and Kentucky, while the GOP House campaign committee suffered its third embarrassment in a year. The most satisfying outcome across all parties and ideologies was arguably Democratic Congressman Joe Sestak’s comfortable victory over Democrat turned Republican turned Democrat Arlen Specter in the Pennsylvania Senate primary. In defeating the 80-year-old Mr. Specter, voters showed there is at least some limit to partisan opportunism and thus committed an act of political hygiene. Mr. Specter fled the GOP last year when it became clear he would lose a Republican primary to former Congressman Pat Toomey, and he promptly switched positions on everything from union ‘card check’ to health care. Mr. Sestak ran by claiming to be the more authentic Democrat, despite President Obama’s embrace of Mr. Specter, at least as long as the President needed him for the 60th health-care vote. In crunch time in the primary, the White House decided to sit this one out. One disloyal act is repaid in kind. … Perhaps the evening’s most intriguing result was the landslide victory by eye doctor Rand Paul in the Kentucky GOP Senate primary. He defeated Secretary of State Trey Grayson, who was the favorite of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. Mr. Paul is the son of libertarian Republican Ron Paul and is a favorite of the tea party movement. Mr. Paul’s national security views aren’t ours, but this year domestic policies are dominant and in his remarks last night he sounded mainstream themes on taxes, spending and reducing the size of government. His challenge going into the fall will be to maintain the fervor of his tea party supporters while winning over independents and enough conservative Democrats to keep the seat for the GOP. The larger and most welcome story is that voters are saying they want to replace the current crowd in Washington. We say pour it on.” –The Wall Street Journal

    Experienced seafaring navigators who travel the North Atlantic will tell you that the exposed tip of an iceberg is not their main concern, it’s the huge mass of the unseen iceberg hidden below the surface that poses the greatest danger to their ships.

    So it is for President Obama and the Democrats; it’s the huge number of unseen supporters hidden below the surface of the Tea Party that pose the greatest political danger to Democrats.

    And with many recent polls showing support for the Tea Party growing, it looks like the Democrats will have to navigate some treacherous waters heading into the November elections.

    Global Cooling Is Coming — and Beware the Big Chill, Scientist Warns

    Contrary to the commonly held scientific conclusion that the Earth is getting warmer, a scientist who has written more than 150 peer-reviewed papers has unveiled evidence for his prediction that global cooling is coming soon.

    The hottest new trend in climate change may be global cooling, some researchers say.

    Contrary to the commonly held scientific conclusion that the Earth is getting warmer, Dr. Don Easterbrook, emeritus professor of geology at Western Washington University and author of more than 150 peer-reviewed papers, has unveiled evidence for his prediction that global cooling is coming soon.

    “Rather than global warming at a rate of 1 F per decade, records of past natural cycles indicate there may be global cooling for the first few decades of the 21st century to about 2030,” said Easterbrook, speaking on a scientific panel discussion with other climatologists. This, he says, will likely be followed by “global warming from about 2030 to 2060,” which will then be followed by another cooling spell from 2060 to 2090.

    Easterbrook spoke before a group of about 700 scientists and government officials at the fourth International Conference on Climate Change. The conference is presented annually in Chicago by the Heartland Institute, a conservative nonprofit think tank that actively questions the theory of man’s role in global warming. Last year the Institute published Climate Change Reconsidered, a comprehensive reply to the United Nations’ latest report on climate change.

    “Global warming is over — at least for a few decades,” Easterbrook told conference attendees. “However, the bad news is that global cooling is even more harmful to humans than global warming, and a cause for even greater concern.”

    Easterbrook made several stunning claims about the effects of the coming cold. There will be twice as many people killed by extreme cold than by extreme heat, he predicted, and global food production will suffer because of the shorter, cooler growing seasons and bad weather during harvest seasons.

    But not everyone is breaking out the overcoat and mittens.

    “It’s absurd to talk of global cooling when global heating is with us now and accelerating,” said Dan Miller, managing director of the Roda Group, and an expert on climate change. “According to NASA, this past April was the hottest since temperature measurements began. And 2010 is on track to be the hottest year since temperature records began.

    “North America was relatively cool last year, but the Earth as a whole was much warmer than average,” he said.

    Data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Agency (NOAA) also points to a warming trend. The agency recently reported that global land and ocean surface temperatures for the first four months of 2010 were the warmest it had on record.

    Easterbrook, one of 75 climate and policy experts presenting at the conference, uncovered sudden climate fluctuations of warming and cooling — all of which occurred before 1945, when carbon dioxide levels began to rise sharply — through geologic evidence.

    Ten big climate changes occurred over the past 15,000 years, and another 60 smaller changes occurred in the past 5,000 years.

    Based on new analysis of ice cores from Greenland to Antarctica, Easterbrook said global temperatures rose and fell from 9 to 15 degrees in a century or less — swings that he said were “astonishing.”

    In addition, he explained that energy consumption will rise — and consumer prices will rise along with it — and political and social instability could result as the world population grows 50 percent in the next 40 years while food and energy demand soars.

    Another presenter at the conference, James M. Taylor, an environmental policy expert and a fellow at the Heartland Institute, said that global cooling is already happening. Based on figures provided by the Rutgers University Global Snow Lab, he noted that snow records from the last 10 years exceeded the records set in the 1960s and 1970s.

    A sign of global cooling? This past “decade set a record for largest average global snow extent,” Taylor said.

    Senators Press for National Guard Troops on Border

    Frustrated lawmakers are demanding action to stem the spread of violence and drug trafficking that has spilled across the border into their states.

    WASHINGTON — Homeland Security and Pentagon officials are at loggerheads over a plan to send National Guard troops to the U.S.-Mexico border, even as President Barack Obama is pledging to bolster security there.

    The Guard stalemate has festered for nearly a year, and frustrated lawmakers are demanding action to stem the spread of violence and drug trafficking that has spilled across the border into their states. The inaction raises questions about whether the White House is convinced the federally funded deployment is necessary, or whether border states will be forced to bear the costs of dispatching the Guard troops on their own.

    Speaking at the White House on Wednesday with Mexican President Felipe Calderon, Obama said the U.S. is committed to standing with Mexico against the drug cartels.

    “As your partner, we’ll give you the support you need to prevail,” he said, adding that through increased law enforcement on the U.S. side of the border, “we’re putting unprecedented pressure on those who traffic in drugs, guns and people.”

    Fueling the discord over sending the National Guard to the border was the U.S. response to the Gulf oil spill, which has included federal authorization for deploying up to 17,000 National Guard troops.

    Those costs, however, are likely to be borne by oil giant BP PLC, which leased the offshore drilling rig Deepwater Horizon that exploded off the Louisiana coast April 20, killing 11 and releasing a huge, continuing oil spill.

    The oil spill notwithstanding, border state lawmakers say they need help too.

    “If you’ll indulge me, we think we have another crisis on the border,” Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., told Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano at a hearing this week. “I want to know about whether you’re going to send the Guard to the border or not.”

    When she tried to explain other DHS improvements along the border, McCain cut her off.

    “People’s homes are being violated, and their families can’t take kids to the bus stop,” the senator fumed. “And you are very familiar with the issue, because you yourself asked for the Guard to go to the border back in 2006.”

    Napolitano, a former Arizona governor, responded that the request involves the White House as well as the Pentagon and the Homeland Security Department, and is still in the interagency process. While she said she would like the decision to be made as soon as possible, she added she could not say when she would have an answer.

    “We don’t have a resolution on that yet,” Air Force Gen. Gene Renuart said in an interview with The Associated Press. Renuart, who headed the U.S. Northern Command until his retirement Wednesday after 39 years of service, added that while money is a point of contention, the greater disagreement centers on what missions the National Guard would perform.

    He said the discussion between the Defense and Homeland Security departments continues, and some of the requests “have evolved a bit in this interim period.” He did not provide details.

    First floated last June, the idea was to use 1,500 Guard troops temporarily to supplement border patrol agents. The Pentagon and Homeland Security drafted a $225 million plan, but disagreed over who would pay for it and how the troops would be utilized.

    Pentagon officials, worried about perceptions that the U.S. was militarizing the border, argued that the Guard could only be used for particular duties. Military leaders said they did not want Guard troops to screen vehicles at border points or perform any law enforcement duties, and said the program should be temporary and not tied to any existing program that could get extended.

    Defense officials have said that possible missions for the Guard soldiers could include surveillance along the border, intelligence analysis, helicopter transportation support and aviation surveillance, which likely would involve unmanned aircraft.

    In a letter to Obama this week, McCain and Sen. Jon Kyl, R-Ariz., said sending at least 6,000 National Guard to the border — with half focused on the Arizona portion — would immediately improve the safety of Americans there.

    White House spokesman Nick Shapiro said the administration has taken a number of steps to improve security at the border, including adding more law enforcement personnel and prosecutors, and increasing cooperation with the Mexican government.

    “The president is firmly committed to ensuring that our Southwest border is secure,” Shapiro said. “The administration continues to evaluate additional law enforcement options as well as the use of the National Guard, as needed, along the Southwest border.”

    Mr. Obama, Please Read Arizona’s Immigration Law

    Members of President Obama’s team now admit they have never read Arizona’s immigration law. Is this some sort of political strategy? Is it working?

    Members of the Obama administration, who soundly condemned Arizona’s new immigration law, are now admitted that they have never even read it. Could President Obama and Mexican President Felipe Calderón find themselves in the same boat based on comments they made today at their joint appearance on the White House lawn?

    Let’s review. The first person who had to admit he had never read the Arizona law Attorney General Eric Holder made his admission last week. On Monday, it was Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano’s turn. On Tuesday, State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley revealed that he, too, had not read the bill, despite commenting on it. Given how inaccurate these officials have been in their descriptions of the law, maybe members of President Obama’s team simply had no option but to plead ignorance.

    After all, how do you take a law that clearly states the following: “A law enforcement official or agency of this state or a county, city, or town or other political subdivision of this state may not consider race, color or national origin,” and then claim that it is racist or could lead to racial profiling? Not only that but other parts of this very short law also include additional safeguards against racial profiling. For example, the law requires that the police may only ask for ID if they have “lawful contact” with “lawful stop, detention or arrest” and that authorities must have “reasonable suspicion” that a suspect is an illegal alien.

    Failure by members of President Obama’s administration to read the four page text of Arizona’s law is no a small matter, since some on his team managed to create quite a stir in various appearances on Sunday talk shows by bringing up concerns about racial profiling and racism.
    Take, for example, Ms. Napolitano’s warning on “This Week” on May 2: “Unfortunately, I think it [the law] does and can invite racial profiling.” If these various “news” shows had been doing their job, they would have challenged Napolitano and other officials on these claims. Even just reading parts of the law — verbatim — to Ms. Napolitano or other administration officials during their appearance on the program would have been enough to force them to admit their ignorance.

    In Ms. Napolitano’s case, her admission did not come until Sen. John McCain asked her several questions when she appeared before the Senate Homeland Security Committee. One gets a sneaking suspicion that the administration might just be feigning ignorance about the law rather than admitting to knowingly making outrageous statements about racism.
    But how are other administration officials’ statements different from Obama’s claim today: “I think a fair reading of the language of the statute indicates that it gives the possibility of individuals who are deemed suspicious of being illegal immigrants from being harassed or arrested and the judgments that are going to be made in applying this law are troublesome.” He also warned might make American citizens “subject to suspicion simply because of what they look like.”
    And then there’s Calderón’s claim that the law is “discriminatory.”

    President Obama keeps asserting that Americans risk being harassed because of the Arizona law. But he never explains how this could happen given what appears to be the extremely straightforward language in the law.

    And then there’s this. It now turns out that the Obama administration has even been apologizing in private to foreigners for Arizona’s law. “We brought it up early and often. It was mentioned in the first session and as a troubling trend in our society, and an indication that we have to deal with issues of discrimination or potential discrimination,” Those are the words of Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy Human Rights and Labor Michael Posner, who led a U.S. delegation in talks with the Chinese, speaking to reporters this past Friday. — Someone needs to ask Mr. Posner if he actually read the law before he started denigrating America to the Chinese.

    Over the weekend, Arizona Governor Jan Brewer had the guts to portray the consequences of these false attacks when she said, “Our border is being erased, and the president apparently considers it a wonderful opportunity to divide people along racial lines for his personal political convenience.” Yet, it isn’t just the president and his administration or President Calderón who are practicing such racially divisive politics. The media is just as irresponsible and they owe all Americans an apology.

    Here’s the solution to all the controversy over full-body scanners at the airports. Have a booth you step into that will not X-ray you, but will detonate any explosive device you may have on you.

    It’s a win-win for everyone, and there would be no privacy or racial profiling issues. No religious bigotry. No anti-Islamic issues. It would be relatively cost effective compared to the current screening system. And it would be prejudiced against bad people with explosives.

    It eliminates a long and expensive trial. Justice will be swift.

    Case closed! This is so simple it’s brilliant.

    I can see it now: You’re in the airport terminal and you hear a muffled explosion, followed by an announcement over the PA system, “Attention standby passengers. We now have a seat available on flight number …”

Europe; the US is still a large economy but it is not growing, while the growth in the emerging world is and will continue to be strong
    * “People still think of emerging market economies as poor cousins, but because 80% of the world’s people are here, in aggregate the consumption is huge.”; these are not saturated markets and they are growing rapidly

    * Eventually, there will be war and one will want physical commodities “not paper from UBS or JP Morgan”
    * In war, cities will not offer safety because one can get bombed, water may be poisoned, electricity shut off; instead, one should buy a house in the middle of nowhere/on the countryside
    * The tremendous economic Sophism of the day is that a nation can print its way into prosperity; “If debt and money printing equaled prosperity then Zimbabwe would be the richest country.”
    * “Mugabe is the economic mentor of Ben Bernanke.”

    The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows that 25% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Forty-three percent (43%) Strongly Disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -18 (see trends).

    Following passage of health care, enthusiasm for the president among Democrats soared. Today, however, just 49% of Democrats Strongly Approve of Obama’s performance. That’s down from a high of 65%. It remains to be seen whether this is a temporary aberration or the beginning of a lasting change.

    Taxpayers could be on the hook for another $165 billion if a bill to bail out private union pension funds makes it through Congress.

    A Democratic senator is introducing legislation for a bailout of troubled union pension funds. If passed, the bill could put another $165 billion in liabilities on the shoulders of American taxpayers.

    The bill, which would put the Pension Benefit Guarantee Corporation behind struggling pensions for union workers, is being introduced by Senator Bob Casey, (D-Pa.), who says it will save jobs and help people.

    As FOX Business Network’s Gerri Willis reported Monday, these pensions are in bad shape; as of 2006, well before the market dropped and recession began, only 6% of these funds were doing well.

Forty-four percent (44%) Strongly Disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -20 (see trends).

    The Presidential Approval Index is calculated by subtracting the number who Strongly Disapprove from the number who Strongly Approve. It is updated daily at 9:30 a.m. Eastern (sign up for free daily e-mail update). Updates are also available on Twitter and Facebook.

    Overall, 42% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the president’s performance. That is the lowest level of approval yet measured for this president. Fifty-six percent (56%) now disapprove of his performance.

    An Army veteran in Wisconsin will be allowed to display an American flag until Memorial Day, but the symbol honoring his service in Iraq and Kosovo must come down next Tuesday, his wife told

    Dawn Price, 27, of Oshkosh, Wis., said she received a call from officials at Midwest Realty Management early Wednesday indicating that she and her husband, Charlie, would be allowed to continue flying the American flag they’ve had in their window for months through the holiday weekend. The couple had previously been told they had to remove the flag by Saturday or face eviction due to a company policy that bans the display of flags, banners and political or religious materials.

    “It’s basically an extension so we can fly the flag on Memorial Day,” Price told “It does need to come down after that.”

    Charlie Price, 28, served tours of duty as a combat engineer in Iraq and Kosovo, his wife said. To honor his eight years of service, she began decorating their apartment during Veterans Day in November. An American flag topped off the display, she said.

    “I knew it made Charlie really proud to see that,” she said. “And this isn’t something new. This has been up for quite some time now.”

    Veterans’ groups were furious at the realtors’ refusal to allow the flag to fly.

    “As a veteran, it sickens me that the Dawn and Charlie Price’s building management company would imply that the American flag could be construed as offensive by their residents,” said Ryan Gallucci, a spokesman for AmVets.

    “We’re talking about our most revered national symbol. This is insulting to anyone who has defended our flag honorably, like Charlie Price.”

    Dawn Price said she now works to amend the federal Freedom to Display the American Flag Act of 2005, which states no “condominium association, cooperative association, or residential real estate management association” may stop someone from flying the American flag. The law, however, does not apply to renters.

    “This has been eating at us since Friday,” she said. ‘The best way to fight this isn’t getting an eviction and going after these people in court. That’s just going to cost us a lot of time, energy and money.”

    Instead, Dawn Price said she either intends to place a curtain between the flag and the apartment window to block it from onlookers or will move it to a rear balcony come next week.

    “We don’t want to fight the eviction,” she said. “We know we’d lose.”

    Officials at Midwest Realty Management, which manages Brookside Apartments, where the Prices live, did not return several messages seeking comment. In a statement to the Oshkosh Northwestern, company officials said the policy was established to provide a consistent living environment for all residents.

    “This policy was developed to insure that we are fair to everyone as we have many residents from diverse backgrounds,” the statement read. “By having a blanket policy of neutrality we have found that we are less likely to offend anyone and the aesthetic qualities of our apartment communities are maintained.”

    Despite the brief reprieve, Dawn Price said her husband is disappointed by the flag flap.

    “He actually sees it as a slap in the face to his service,” she said. “He’s pretty upset about it, especially right around Memorial Day.”

    A Facebook group created by Dawn Price, “Freedom to Display the American Flag,” had roughly 2,000 members as of Wednesday.

    “As a father of a son [who] is currently serving in Iraq this blackens my heart!!!!” read one comment. “These men and women sign a blank check up to and including their life!”

    Washington, DC ( — New information obtained by a member of Congress makes it appear the Obama administration has spent $10 million potentially illegally promoting a pro-abortion constitution in Kenya. Obama officials were thought to have spent $2 million but Rep. Chris Smith says that figure could exceed $10 million.

    Lobbying for or against abortion is prohibited under a provision of federal law known as the Siljander Amendment annually included in the State, Foreign Operations Appropriations Act.

    The amendment reads, “None of the funds made available under this Act may be used to lobby for or against abortion,” and violations are subject to civil and criminal penalties under the Antideficiency Act, 31 U.S.C. § 1341.”

    The three issues that are depressing his ratings have a great deal in common. In each case, the president originally seized on the issue to make populist political hay.     Signs Point to Administration Plan to Lock Up 13M Acres of Federal Land

    A leaked partial document produced by the Bureau of Land Management and obtained by Fox News suggests the Obama administration is considering a plan to lock up 13 million acres of land — and the Department of Interior is refusing to answer questions.

    First, a little background: The federal government owns about one-third of the land in the United States — most of it in western states. For example, 84 percent of Nevada is owned by Uncle Sam.

    But the government leases large parcels of federal land for all sorts of things — grazing, mining, exploration, recreation.

    Those commercial activities create jobs and tax revenue for the states. Tax revenues from commercial activity on federal lands often pays for local schools. However, with the single stroke of his pen, President Obama can use the Antiquities of Act of 1906 to turn federal land into National Monuments.

    That would effectively lock up the land from any kind of private use or development.

    The plan may actually be more than 13 million acres. Republican members of the House have asked for the rest of the memo, but the Department of the Interior is refusing to hand it over.

    Rep. Doc Hastings, R-Wash., said he is worried.

    “When the administration is, for lack of a better word, stiffing us — you know that causes concern,” Hastings said during a hallway interview on Capitol Hill. “We do have responsibilities to our constituents to make sure that when there is a huge change on federal lands in their area, that they are part of that process. We are afraid that that process is going to be taken away from them and that’s why we’re asking for these documents.”

    Republicans on the House Natural Resources Committee were unable to garner Democratic support for a resolution requiring the Department of Interior to produce some 2,000 documents it has on this matter.

    The DOI did cough up 300 e-mails that Republicans say do not reveal very much.

    When contacted by Fox News, the department’s press secretary hinted that the GOP request is under further review.

    “This is an on-going process,” Kendra Barkoff wrote. “We may supplement this response as the process is concluded.”

    There are those who believe these lands are precious — and should be locked up from development. But in western states this is controversial.

    Western state governors are worried that the Obama administration is going to do this quickly and quietly — without public hearings. They want the process to be more transparent. But for now, those documents are being tightly held by the Obama Department of Interior.

    WOOSTER, Ohio – Burnt poles and piles of ash are all that remain of some American flags that were burned in Wooster early Monday morning.

    Just after 3 a.m., Wooster police received a call from a resident about a missing flag. Police soon realized the flag wasn’t missing, instead, it had been burned.

    Police later found between 20 and 30 burned flags on Sanders and Morgan and believe the incident happened sometime before 3:20 a.m.

    This venerable and much honored WW II vet is well known in Hawaii for his seventy-plus years of service to patriotic organizations and causes all over the country. A humble man without a political bone in his body, he has never spoken out before about a government official, until now. He dictated this letter to a friend, signed it and mailed it to the president.

    Dear President Obama,

    My name is Harold Estes, approaching 95 on December 13 of this year. People meeting me for the first time don’t believe my age because I remain wrinkle free and pretty much mentally alert.

    I enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1934 and served proudly before, during and after WW II retiring as a Master Chief Bos’n Mate. Now I live in a “rest home” located on the western end of Pearl Harbor , allowing me to keep alive the memories of 23 years of service to my country.

    One of the benefits of my age, perhaps the only one, is to speak my mind, blunt and direct even to the head man.

    So here goes.

    I am amazed, angry and determined not to see my country die before I do, but you seem hell bent not to grant me that wish.

    I can’t figure out what country you are the president of. You fly around the world telling our friends and enemies despicable lies like:
    ” We’re no longer a Christian nation”
    ” America is arrogant” – (Your wife even
    announced to the world,” America is mean-
    spirited. ” Please tell her to try preaching
    that nonsense to 23 generations of our
    war dead buried all over the globe who
    died for no other reason than to free a
    whole lot of strangers from tyranny and
    I’d say shame on the both of you, but I don’t think you like America, nor do I see an ounce of gratefulness in anything you do, for the obvious gifts this country has given you. To be without shame or gratefulness is a dangerous thing for a man sitting in the White House.

    After 9/11 you said,” America hasn’t lived up to her ideals.”

    Which ones did you mean? Was it the notion of personal liberty that 11,000 farmers and shopkeepers died for to win independence from the British? Or maybe the ideal that no man should be a slave to another man, that 500,000 men died for in the Civil War? I hope you didn’t mean the ideal 470,000 fathers, brothers, husbands, and a lot of fellas I knew personally died for in WWII, because we felt real strongly about not letting any nation push us around, because we stand for freedom.

    I don’t think you mean the ideal that says equality is better than discrimination. You know the one that a whole lot of white people understood when they helped to get you elected.

    Take a little advice from a very old geezer, young man.

    Shape up and start acting like an American. If you don’t, I’ll do what I can to see you get shipped out of that fancy rental on Pennsylvania Avenue . You were elected to lead not to bow, apologize and kiss the hands of murderers and corrupt leaders who still treat their people like slaves.

    And just who do you think you are telling the American people not to jump to conclusions and condemn that Muslim major who killed 13 of his fellow soldiers and wounded dozens more. You mean you don’t want us to do what you did when that white cop used force to subdue that black college professor in Massachusetts , who was putting up a fight? You don’t mind offending the police calling them stupid but you don’t want us to offend Muslim fanatics by calling them what they are, terrorists.

    One more thing. I realize you never served in the military and never had to defend your country with your life, but you’re the Commander-in-Chief now, son. Do your job. When your battle-hardened field General asks you for 40,000 more troops to complete the mission, give them to him. But if you’re not in this fight to win, then get out. The life of one American soldier is not worth the best political strategy you’re thinking of.

    You could be our greatest president because you face the greatest challenge ever presented to any president.
    You’re not going to restore American greatness by bringing back our bloated economy. That’s not our greatest threat. Losing the heart and soul of who we are as Americans is our big fight now.
    And I sure as hell don’t want to think my president is the enemy in this final battle…

    If you do not like the values of the West – see the First Amendment – you are free to leave. I hope for God’s sake that most of you choose that option.

    They’re demanding that Wichman be reprimanded, that the university impose mandatory diversity training for faculty,

    Now, the local chapter of CAIR has jumped into the fray.
    CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, apparently doesn’t believe that the good professor
    had the right to express his opinion.
    For its part, the university is standing its ground in support of Professor Wichman,
    saying the e-mail was private, and they don’t intend to publicly condemn his remarks.

    Flag Vandalism Mars Memorial Day in Several States

    From Oregon to Minnesota to Ohio, vandals trampled on Old Glory over the Memorial Day weekend. In one Ohio town alone, approximately 25 American flags were found set ablaze on Monday.

    At least one national veterans group called for those responsible for the “shocking and reprehensible” acts of vandalism to be quickly arrested and prosecuted.

    Police in Wooster, Ohio, were going door-to-door early Tuesday in search of the people who torched roughly 25 flags and flagpoles along Saunders Drive and Morgan Street, Capt. John Quicci said.

    “They were set on fire,” Quicci told, adding that an investigation is ongoing.

    No suspects or motives had been identified, according to Quicci, who was unable to estimate damages to the 3-by-5-foot flags and the 10-foot metal poles placed outside of residents’ homes by the annual Wooster Rotary Parade of Flags project.

    The people who torched the flags face charges of criminal damaging and arson, Quicci said.

    “We’re treating this very seriously,” he said.

    In Minneapolis, a fire was set late last week to an American flag hanging outside a Marine veteran’s home. The residence was spared and no injuries were reported, but the flag was destroyed.

    Elizabeth Hawley said she found the ashes Thursday morning and called the act “very disturbing.” She said her husband is keeping his feelings reserved, but she knows he’s upset.

    Hawley told the Minneapolis Star Tribune that she thinks the flag-burning was a random act of vandalism.

    In Portland, Ore., Christian Ashby and his wife awoke Sunday to find their American flag torn down, covered in obscenities and burned outside their home, reported. Flying the flag has special meaning to his family, Ashby said.

    “Well, we have some close relatives, especially my wife, who had a cousin who suffered from [post-traumatic stress disorder] and took his own life,” Ashby told the website. “So, we have some very dedicated family to veterans of the United States services. So, it means a lot to us to fly the flag.”

    Ashby said a local man who served two tours in Vietnam loaned him another flag after posting news of the vandalism online.

    Ryan Gallucci, a spokesman for AMVETS, a national organization representing 200,000 veterans, said he found the acts of vandalism “shocking and reprehensible,” particularly on Memorial Day weekend.

    “We absolutely condemn it,” Gallucci told “Memorial Day is one of our country’s most significant holidays and a chance to honor the men and women who sacrificed their lives for our freedom. For someone to desecrate the American flag on Memorial Day, it’s unconscionable, it’s unforgivable.”

    Gallucci called for quick closure to the ongoing investigations in at least three states.

    “The people who are responsible for this need to be apprehended and held accountable for their actions,” he said. “We shouldn’t tolerate it, regardless of what the excuse is. We need to get to the bottom of it.”

    Opinion: Why the web benefits liberals more than conservatives

    CNN) — From the micro-donation platform first popularized by Howard Dean in 2003 to the million-strong Barack Obama Facebook page to the huge audience of the Huffington Post, liberals have been the dominant political force on the internet since the digital revolution began.

    Now, research out of Harvard University’s Berkman Center for Internet and Society suggests that the reason behind this imbalance may be the liberal belief system itself.

    Liberals, the research finds, are oriented toward community activism, employing technology to encourage debate and feature user-generated content. Conservatives, on the other hand, are more comfortable with a commanding leadership and use restrictive policies to combat disorderly speech in online forums.

    All of this suggests that the internet may benefit liberals more often than conservatives — at least for now.

    The different approaches of the top two political blogs may illustrate the correlation between ideology and online strategy.

    The Huffington Post’s closest conservative competitor,, has only a fraction of its audience size and is tightly controlled by an inner circle of three authors.

    A leading right-wing blog, Hot Air was founded by Michelle Malkin, an author who is known for her support of wartime loyalty oaths and racial profiling as a defense against terrorism. In criticizing Obama’s 2009 address to the United Nations, she said, “he solidified his place in the international view as the great appeaser and the groveler in chief.”

    Indeed, Malkin’s hard-line national security views are matched by Hotair’s unusually restrictive comment policy. The site permits comments only by registered users; currently, registration is closed to any new users. The site states, “We may allow as much or as little opportunity for registration as we choose, in our absolute discretion, and we may close particular comment threads or discontinue our general policy of allowing comments at any time.”

    By contrast, the left-leaning Huffington Post, the most visited blog on the Internet, has thousands of bloggers and invites active users to become featured authors and comment facilitators.

    Founder Arianna Huffington herself supported working diplomatically with the international community to deal with Saddam Hussein and recently endorsed Jeremy Rifkin’s book “The Empathic Civilization,” which she says “allows humanity to see itself as an extended family living in a shared and interconnected world.”

    Thus, from just a snapshot of the top political bloggers, one catches a glimpse of an emerging pattern: leadership and control from the right, and equality and community on the left.

    Harvard professor Yochai Benkler finds that these differences are representative of the broader political web.

    “The left not only chooses more participatory technology, but also uses the available technological tools to maintain more fluid relations between secondary or user-contributed materials and those of primary contributors,” he writes. “The left is more egalitarian in opportunities for speech, more discursive, and more collaborative in managing the sites.”

    By contrast, Hot Air’s prohibitive policies, and Malkin’s support of strong leadership, seem consistent with Benkler’s conclusion that the right is more “hierarchical” in its approach.

    While any definitive statements about a technology still in its infancy are premature, the inclusiveness of the liberal approach does seem to have its advantages. Obama’s Internet strategy is credited with giving grass-roots supporters space to find unique ways to reach their more apathetic peers and motivate them through user-generated content.

    This openness to outsiders gave rise to surprising internet sensations such as the iconic “Hope” poster and enormous gatherings coordinated by social-networking activists.

    Indeed, conservative Scott Brown’s stunning victory in a Massachusetts Senate race took its strategy from Obama’s playbook. Instead of micromanaging the campaign message, Brown permitted an unknown universe of latent conservative activists to contribute as they saw fit.

    “An engaged following is more likely to retweet, to comment on blogs, to respond to unfounded criticism,” Boston political consultant John LaRosa told Wired. Of Brown’s campaign, he said, “it became a movement, and it just fed on itself.”

    But even if more conservatives adopt Brown’s online strategy, right-wing constituents overall may be less comfortable with grass-roots activism. Russell J. Dalton, a political science professor at the University of California, Irvine, says that among politically active youth, liberals are substantially more likely to donate money, attend a rally and participate in online discussions.

    Republicans tend to see a “limited participatory role” for citizens, Dalton writes in his book “The Good Citizen: How a Younger Generation Is Reshaping American Politics.”

    The conservative philosophy of ironclad loyalty to a singular message does have decided advantages. In Congress, strong party loyalty has allowed Republicans to vote as a bloc, giving them formidable strength despite their minority status.

    However, the internet is less predictable. And, from what we have observed from the short life of the web, opening one’s site to the capricious innovations of grass-roots users can be enormously beneficial but hard to control.

    Conservatives may one day embrace the participatory web en masse. However, the very structure of the internet as a decentralized grouping of communities may never appeal to the large portion of right-wingers who prefer military-style hierarchies and commanding leaders.

    And, as years go by without a conservative social-media pioneer or a top-ranked website, it looks as thoug the internet has already chosen a side.

    What if 20 Million Illegal Aliens Vacated America ?

    I, Tina Griego, journalist for the Denver Rocky Mountain News wrote a column titled, “Mexican Visitor’s Lament”- 10/25/07.

    I interviewed Mexican journalist Evangelina Hernandez while visiting Denver last week. Hernandez said, “illegal aliens pay rent, buy groceries, buy clothes. What Happens to your country’s economy if 20 million people go away?” Hummm, I thought, what would happen, so I did my due diligence, buried my nose as a reporter into the FACTS I found below.

    It’s a good question it deserves an honest answer. Over 80% of Americans demand secured borders and illegal migration stopped. But what would happen if all 20 million or more vacated America ? The answers I found may surprise you!

    In California , if 3.5 million illegal aliens moved back to Mexico , it would leave an extra $10.2 billion to spend on overloaded school systems, bankrupt hospitals and overrun prisons. It would leave highways cleaner, safer and less congested. Everyone could understand one another as English became the dominant language again.

    In Colorado , 500,000 illegal migrants, plus their 300,000 kids and grandchilds would move back ‘home’, mostly to Mexico . That would save Colorado an estimated $2 billion (other experts say $7 billion) annually in taxes that pay for schooling, medical, social-services and incarceration costs. It means 12,000 gang members would vanish out of Denver alone.

    Colorado would save more than $20 million in prison costs, and the terror that those 7,300 alien criminals set upon local citizens. Denver Officer Don Young and hundreds of Colorado victims would not have suffered death, accidents, rapes and other crimes by illegals.

    Denver Public Schools would not suffer a 67% dropout/flunk rate because of thousands of illegal alien students speaking 41 different languages. At least 200,000 vehicles would vanish from our grid locked cities in Colorado . Denver ‘s 4% unemployment rate would vanish as our working poor would gain jobs at a living wage.

    In Florida , 1.5 million illegals would return the Sunshine State back to America , the rule of law, and English.

    In Chicago , Illinois , 2.1 million illegals would free up hospitals, schools, prisons and highways for a safer, cleaner and more crime-free experience.

    If 20 million illegal aliens returned ‘home’, the U.S. Economy would return to the rule of law. Employers would hire legal American citizens at a living wage. Everyone would pay their fair share of taxes because they wouldn’t be working off the books. That would result in an additional $401 Billion in IRS income taxes collected annually, and an equal amount for local, state and city coffers.

    No more push ‘1’ for Spanish or ‘2’ for English. No more confusion in American schools that now must contend with over 100 languages that degrade the educational system for American kids. Our overcrowded schools would lose more than two million illegal alien kids at a cost of billions in ESL and free breakfasts and lunches.

    We would lose 500,000 illegal criminal alien inmates at a cost of more than $1.6 billion annually. That includes 15,000 MS-13 gang members who distribute $130 billion in drugs annually would vacate our country.

    In cities like L.A. , 20,000 members of the ‘ 18th Street Gang’ would vanish from our nation. No more Mexican forgery gangs for ID theft from Americans! No more foreign rapists and child molesters!

    Losing more than 20 million people would clear up our crowded highways and gridlock. Cleaner air and less drinking and driving American deaths by illegal aliens!

    America’s economy is drained. Taxpayers are harmed. Employers get rich. Over $80 billion annually wouldn’t return to the aliens’ home countries by cash transfers. Illegal migrants earned half that money untaxed, which further drains America ‘s economy which currently suffers an $8.7 trillion debt.

    At least 400,000 anchor babies would not be born in our country, costing us $109 billion per year per cycle. At least 86 hospitals in California , Georgia and Florida would still be operating instead of being bankrupt out of existence because illegals pay nothing via the EMTOLA Act.

    Americans wouldn’t suffer thousands of TB and hepatitis cases rampant in our country-brought in by illegals unscreened at our borders.

    Our cities would see 20 million less people driving, polluting and grid locking our cities. It would also put the ‘progressives’ on the horns of a dilemma; illegal aliens and their families cause 11% of our greenhouse gases.

    Over one million of Mexico’s poorest citizens now live inside and along our border from Brownsville, Texas to San Diego, California in what the New York Times called, ‘colonias’ or new neighborhoods. Trouble is, those living areas resemble Bombay and Calcutta where grinding poverty, filth, diseases, drugs, crimes, no sanitation and worse. They live without sewage, clean water, streets, roads, electricity, or any kind of sanitation.

    The New York Times reported them to be America ‘s new ‘ Third World ‘ inside our own country. Within 20 years, at their current growth rate, they expect 20 million residents of those colonias. (I’ve seen them personally in Texas and Arizona ; it’s sickening beyond anything you can imagine.)

    By enforcing our laws, we could repatriate them back to Mexico . We should invite 20 million aliens to go home, fix their own countries and/or make a better life in Mexico . We already invite a million people into our country legally more than all other countries combined annually. We cannot and must not allow anarchy at our borders, more anarchy within our borders and growing lawlessness at every level in our nation. It’s time to stand up for our country, our culture, our civilization and our way of life.

    Interesting Statistics!

    Here are 14 reasons illegal aliens should vacate America, and I hope they are forwarded over and over again until they are read so many times that the reader gets sick of reading them:

    1. $14 billion to $22 billion dollars are spent each year on welfare to illegal aliens.(that’s Billion with a ‘B’) –

    7. 28% percent of all federal prison inmates are illegal aliens.

    8. $190 billion dollars are spent each year on illegal aliens for welfare & social services by the American taxpayers. –

    9. $200 billion dollars per year in suppressed American wages are caused by the illegal aliens.

    10. The illegal aliens in the United States have a crime rate that’s two and a half times that of white non-illegal aliens. In particular, their children, are going to make a huge additional crime problem in the US .

    11. During the year 2005, there were 8 to 10 MILLION illegal aliens that crossed our southern border with as many as 19,500 illegal aliens from other terrorist countries. Over 10,000 of those were middle-eastern terrorists. Millions of pounds of drugs, cocaine, meth, heroine, crack, Guns, and marijuana crossed into the U.S.from the southern border.
