Heads Up DHS, Bertha Lewis is plotting racial violence and civil unrest

There is no racist like a black racist, eh, Bertha old girl?

It is amazing how bold these Marxists are but one has to assume they know Obama and Holder has their back, right New Black Panthers?

Behold Bertha Lewis, CEO of ACORN addressing the Young Democrat Socialists Group:

Transcript of the above speech…

First of all, let me just say that any group that says “I’m young, I’m democratic, and I’m a socialist” is alright with me. [applause]

The reason that you have to build your organization, and make it as big and as powerful as you can, is because you need to get into real battles. And here’s what I think you need to do. And you need make sure that you get into this battle. The next big battle that’s coming…whether healthcare lives or dies…[break]

Immigration is the next big battle. Immigration, immigration, immigration. And the reason this is so important is, you know, here’s the secret [whispers]:

We’re getting ready to me a majority, minority country. Shhhh. [applause] We’ll be like South Africa. More black people than white people. [laughter] Don’t tell anybody.

You get yourselves together, get strong, get big, and get in this battle. Get in this battle! Because again it’s all about money. How this country works. Who we have in this country. And the fact that a fear of a black planet that’s being played out in the United States today. The future of our country is people of color. And how that’s going to change our psyche and our economics, this is why folks are grabbing so hard to change the economic paradigm, because we gettin’ ready to have a majority country of people of color. And the fear of a black planet is real. [break]

My challenge to black folks, and to people of color and civil rights folks, are as this: the face of immigration needs to be a lot blacker than it is. Because once they can frame the immigration debate as about Latinos, crossing some mythical border, when in fact we have second and third generation black folks in this country who come from immigrant families. But they’re not standing up and marching with their Latino brothers and sisters, and saying “I am an immigrant too”…[break]

So Young Democratic Socialists, join this immigration war. Black people, young black people that have been put in the vast vat of “African Americans”, JOIN. Don’t march along side, don’t march in back, be right out front!

Because that will be the battle for our democracy. That will be the battle for the kind of government that we have. That will be an economic battle of epic proportions. Immigration, self-sufficiency, and the people united. Thanks you. [applause]

Sounds like a Marxist Call To Arms to me

Bertha is calling for a race war
against Whites
for the sake of ‘white’ money

The astounding arrogance of this administration and it’s continued financial support makes a tax payer proud to be an American. Of course the Eric ‘call me a racist’ Holder will never prosecute a group that will wander through grave yards to ‘dig up’ additional votes. It is my profound desire to see Obama one day chained to a post in a hut in Kenya, wearing an electronic ankle bracelet, surrounded by armed guards, possibly Navy SEALS that spent time rotting in jail before his ouster. They will make sure he doesn’t slide out of the hut the same way he slid under the front door at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Oh Oh, News Flash: Kenya won’t take him he doesn’t have a birth certificate. I’m with you Jim.
I heard a sound byte from her that alluded to putting tea party folks into interment camps.
    Heard it on Glenn Beck.
These people are witnessing the sand eroding out from under the foundation they have so meticulously constructed and they are desperate to maintain their power.

  4. AFVET says:

You correct VF, they have a lot of guts when they have the White House watching their back.

  5. m2 says:

RUSH: Now, there’s a story in the Chicago Trib, I have seen pictures, thousands and thousands of people marching, union thugs in Illinois demanding tax increases. Here it is. I’ve got the Chicago Tribune story right here. Grab audio sound bite number 31. We have a sound bite with this. “Thousands of protesters bused down by labor unions and social service advocates rallied at the Capitol today…” this was yesterday “…in an attempt to pressure state lawmakers into raising the income tax to avoid more budget cuts.” The unions want everybody else and their taxes to go up so that they don’t lose their pensions and they don’t have to get any kind of cuts whatsoever. “A spokesman for Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White estimated the rally crowd at 15,000, with more than 12,000 marching around the building. That would appear to make it the largest Capitol protest since the Equal Rights Amendment crowds a quarter-century ago. Bus after bus pulled up on streets surrounding the Capitol complex and dumped sign-waving protesters clad in purple, green, red and blue shirts that represented a show of strength from a variety of public employee unions and dozens of groups that formed what they named the ‘Responsible Budget Coalition.'” And here is what they were shouting.

PROTESTER: Raise my taxes! Raise my taxes! Raise my taxes! Raise my taxes! Raise my taxes!

RUSH: Springfield, Illinois, at the Capitol, thousands of protesters bused down by labor unions demanding higher taxes. Okay. Raise theirs. Raise their taxes. Cut ours. They want their taxes to go up, raise ’em! Now, this is an interesting development here. And it’s interesting because the unions now see the underfunded pension plans, the states being bankrupt, and they see what Chris Christie is doing in New Jersey, and they see that California is paying attention to New Jersey, and they see the teachers unions get socked out there, all kinds of givebacks, teachers having to forgo promised raises and increases in pension benefits and so forth. So here are the freeloaders. “Rush, how can you say they’re freeloaders? They’re union people. They have jobs.” They’re freeloaders. These are public employee union people. They know what they live off of. They live off taxes. These are not private sector union people. These are people that live off of your tax payments. And they want more. They want you to have to pay more taxes so that they continue in their freeloader gigs.

Bertha is just lying to those Young Socialists like all LEFTISTs lie to their peons. She’s stoking hatred, division, and inspiring greed- as is the standard playbook these days.

She knows that her superiors NEED illegals to stay in power. She knows that illegals are not liked by African Americans and she’s trying to paint a rosier picture to inspire them to serve Soros’ cause. I don’t think it has anything to do with ‘black’, if she were being honest- she’d tell them they are 15% of the population here.

    As is the way.

This isn’t to help Mexicans, Mexicans here illegally or black folk. It’s just MORE GREED FOR THE TOP….

  7. m2 says:

Apparently MONEY makes the Leftist World go ’round.

    • Bertha needs the (gov’t) taxpayer money to fund her ACORN
    • Climate alarmists need taxpayer money to fund them.
    • Unions need taxpayer money to pay for their cushy pensions
    • Wall Street makes deals with Democrats to socialize the nation using taxpayer money.

    What do they get?
Gov’t gets voter fraud in exchange.
Gov’t gets union votes in exchange.
Gov’t gets illegal votes in exchange.
Gov’t gets campaign contributions in exchange for loopholes and poor legislation
Gov’t gets control over all people in exchange for Alarmists funding.

    Al Gore gets filthy rich.
Obama and his cronies, filthy rich.
Top Democrats, writing their own laws and breaking Republic rules of the land, filthy rich.
ACORN execs… embezzle money without trial, filthy rich.
Soros manipulates anything he can without care because he pays Democrats to subvert the law, filthy rich.
Fannie Mae Freddie Mac execs, filthy rich.

So the common good espoused so readily by liberals and socialists is just an easy way to get filthy rich off the backs of others.

    Stealing. Burn in hell Leftists.

  9. samiam60 says:

Ok then Bertha Lewis, you be lookin for a fight? Well let me give you a dose of your own medicine:

    By Patrick J. Buchanan

Barack says we need to have a conversation about race in America .. Fair enough. But this time, it has to be a two-way conversation.. White America needs to be heard from, not just lectured to… This time, the Silent Majority needs to have its convictions, grievances and demands heard. And among them are these:

First, America has been the best country on earth for black folks. It was here that 600,000 black people, brought from Africa in slave ships, grew into a community of 40 million, were introduced to Christian salvation, and reached the greatest levels of freedom and prosperity blacks have ever known Wright ought to go down on his knees and thank God he is an American.

Second, no people anywhere has done more to lift up blacks than white Americans. Untold trillions have been spent since the ‘ 60s on welfare, food stamps, rent supplements, Section 8 housing, Pell grants, student loans, legal services, Medicaid, Earned Income Tax Credits and poverty programs designed to bring the African-American community into the mainstream. Governments, businesses and colleges have engaged in discrimination against white folks — with affirmative action, contract set-asides and quotas — to advance black applicants over white applicants. Churches, foundations, civic groups, schools and individuals all over America have donated their time and money to support soup kitchens, adult education, day care, retirement and nursing homes for blacks.

    We hear the grievances.
    Where is the gratitude??

Barack talks about new ‘ladders of opportunity’ for blacks. Let him go to Altoona ? And Johnstown , and ask the white kids in Catholic schools how many were visited lately by Ivy League recruiters handing out scholarships for ‘deserving’ white kids.? Is white America really responsible for the fact that the crime and incarceration rates for African-Americans are seven times those of white America ? Is it really white America ‘s fault that illegitimacy in the African-American community has hit 70 percent and the black dropout rate from high schools in some cities has reached 50 percent?

Is that the fault of white America or, first and foremost, a failure of the black community itself?

As for racism, its ugliest manifestation is in interracial crime, and especially interracial crimes of violence. Is Barack Obama aware that while white criminals choose black victims 3 percent of the time, black criminals choose white victims 45 percent of the time?

Is Barack aware that black-on-white rapes are 100 times more common than the reverse, that black-on-white robberies were 139 times as common in the first three years of this decade as the reverse?

We have all heard ad nauseam from the Rev. Al about Tawana Brawley, the Duke rape case and Jena . And all turned out to be hoaxes. But about the epidemic of black assaults on whites that are real, we hear nothing.

Sorry, Barack, some of us have heard it all before, about 40 years and 40 trillion tax dollars ago.
This needs to be passed around because,
this is a message everyone needs to hear!!!

  10. samiam60 says:

Oh and by the way Bertha, I wrote this one:

Is it any wonder why the lefties refer to us as:

    Those so-called astro-turfing redneck illiterate racist tea-bagging racist selfish gun-toting racist bible-carrying small-minded terrorist Jihadist-hating anti-communism torture-loving townhall-ranting non-existent 912 DC rallying racist tobacco chewing carbon-dioxide spewing racist confederate-nazi troglodytes and neanderthals? Did I mention racist?

I can remember a time in America when we had all Polish, all Irish, all Italian neighborhoods.

Folks, this Country is a melting pot of many nationalities and races. Is it no wonder that some tend to keep to themselves and that some choose to not associate with others. Is that not what Freedom means.

Find me one Country on planet earth where there are different races and nationalities that don’t always care to associate with one another.

Why is that so wrong. It happens within our own Families and Circles of Friends.

Political Correctness is really just Bullshit.

We are a free society and if someone don’t like me for who I am or what I stand for well that’s just ok with me. I don’t expect everyone to like me or agree with me in this life.

    So what am I saying?

I am saying the people will pick and choose whom they like and dislike and nothing is ever going to change that.

All men/women are Created Equal. It stops there.

What a person does with his or her life determines just how equal we are.

That applies to Race, Ethnic background and gender.

America is messed up these days because folks who clearly are not equal are given positions of importance based on their Heritage rather than their Qualifications.

Affirmative Action weakened American industry by virtue of unqualified individuals being placed in positions of power and decision making.

    It is just plain wrong!

This is the land of Opportunity for anyone who is willing to ” work ” for it. ( PERIOD. )

It is not the land of Opportunity for people who demand it by virtue of heritage.

    That’s just wrong.

So I guess that just makes me a Bigot and Racist now don’t it?

  11. samiam60 says:

History is on the side of White America Bertha and there is no way you or Obama are going to turn back the clock on Race in America. We’ve come to far to let Radical Socialists such as yourself and Obama bring back Hate and Fear in America.

We are ALL AMERICANS now and don’t you forget it.

  12. samiam60 says:

    Don’t be a grasshopper…

    This one is a little different… …
    Two Different Versions….
    …Two Different Morals

The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long,
building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and
laughs and dances and plays the summer away..

Come winter, the ant is warm and well fed.

The grasshopper has no food or shelter,
so he dies out in the cold.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Be responsible for yourself!

The ant works hard in the withering heat
and the rain all summer long, building his house
and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and
laughs and dances and plays the summer away.

Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a
press conference and demands to know
why the ant should be allowed to be warm and
well fed while he is cold and starving.

CBS, NBC , PBS, CNN, and ABC show up
to provide pictures of the shivering
grasshopper next to a video of the ant
in his comfortable home with a table filled with food.

America is stunned by the sharp contrast.

How can this be, that in a country of such wealth,
this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?

Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the
    grasshopper and everybody cries when
they sing, ‘It’s Not Easy Being Green…’

ACORN stages a demonstration in front of
the ant’s house where the news stations
film the group singing, We shall overcome.
Then Rev. Jeremiah Wright has the group kneel
down to pray to God for the grasshopper’s sake.

President Obama condemns the ant and
    blames President Bush, President Reagan,
    Christopher Columbus, and the Pope
    for the grasshopper’s plight.

Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reid exclaim in an
interview with Larry King that the ant has
gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper ,
and both call for an immediate tax hike on the
ant to make him pay his fair share.

Finally, the EEOC drafts the Economic
    Equity & Anti-Grasshopper Act retroactive
to the beginning of the summer.

The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate
number of green bugs and, having nothing left
to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the

Government Green Czar and given to the grasshopper .

The story ends as we see the grasshopper and
his free-loading friends finishing up the last
bits of the ants food while the government
house he is in, which, as you recall,
just happens to be the ant’s old house,
    crumbles around them because the
    grasshopper doesn’t maintain it.

The ant has disappeared in the snow, never to be seen again.

The grasshopper is found dead in a drug related
incident, and the house, now abandoned, is taken
over by a gang of spiders who terrorize the ramshackle,
once prosperous and once peaceful, neighborhood.

The entire Nation collapses bringing the rest of the free world with it.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Be careful how you vote in 2010.

  13. samiam60 says:

It is more than time to flush Political Correctness and let the Truth be Told.

There you have Bertha, your gonna start hearing the other side of the coin in a way you may not like. Get used to it, White America has had enough of YOUR RACISM.

  14. arlenearmy says:

    I hear yah!

Within the black “community” I have actually heard added excuses (particularly from black men). Some Black men have blamed the failures of the black “community” on black women. Some black men are STILL saying that they were cut out the loop in being head of household when black women started getting & maintaining jobs from predominately white establishments.

  15. arlenearmy says:

Folks like Bertha are too far gone to get the message. She sees racism in all aspect of her life, even when it’s not present.

  16. samiam60 says:

Arlene so good to see you. You and I both know Bertha see’s Racism because there is money to made from it. Obama has her to stir the pot.

  17. AFVET says:

    ROCK AND ROLL SAM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Love it.

  18. samiam60 says:

    Good Evening AFVET,

    Lets face the Facts here:

We all know the ultimate goal of the Obama Administration and the Progressives in Congress is a Socialist/Marxist Government. Thus Dictatorship is essential.

We all also know that the American People are NOT going to peacefully allow that to happen.

No Way. So we have to conclude that these thugs know full well they can only achieve this take over by Force.

C’mon, we all know where things are going. We just don’t know how soon it will come about.

  19. samiam60 says:

We my friends are in the epic battle of Good and Evil. No one said this was going to be pretty and no one said it would not get ugly. That is the nature of war, like it or not. Things get messy and sometimes we have to meet the enemy head on and yes ” FIGHT BACK”. I have just done that with a story. Fact is, the story is TRUE. Face it, being nice didn’t win World Wars now did it?

If your here to fight for your Freedom then you had better expect to get your hands dirty doing things you would rather not.

If you have no stomach for this fight then just stay away. I am here to WIN.

  20. samiam60 says:

Today as we speak America is at a crossroads like we have never seen before. Our very Freedom and that of our Children and Grandchildren is a stake this very day. With that being said, I have to ask this Question of all of you who call yourselves Patriots.

    Where are you?

  21. dancingczars says:

Now if I say anything I’m going to sound like a racist. I no problem with people of any color. I do have problems with gang bangers, crack addicts, pimps, thieves thugs and scumbags. So I’d like to Big Bertha to tell me something where is the black majority coming from.? Currently the blacks in America represent a little over 13% of the population. They are disproportionately represented in prison representing thirty percent of the population. Those raised in the lushness of Government housing projects have a disproportionate incidence of unintended pregnancy, resulting in low birth weight babies, crack addiction is rampant, gang violence kill off black youths, so I’m thinking Bertha needs to get her head out her butt. A dirty little secret about blacks receiving social security. A person can receive full benefits at 66 years of age. The average life expectancy of a black male is 66 and one half. But as Obama has consistantly shown us statics and numbers can say anything. Factually black men live nearly as long as their white counterpart if they make it to thirty. Logic would dictate that on hell of a lot of blacks are lost to gang violence, drugs and in the recent past AIDS. So who’s to blame? Me with my honkey whit face or the failed liberal policies that lock subsets of our culture into a mindset of poverty and dependence on the government which could give a damn about them while they pander for their votes. It’s well past time for the likes of the race bating Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Maxine Waters and big Burtha to STFU new voices will emerge the voices of Star Parker, Allen West promise hope and freedom from forced government tyranny upon those who least deserve it. The poor and less fortunate, and yes there are a great deal more whites than blacks in that catagory that live among us. I’m Jim

GM Could Be in Hot Water With FTC Over Truth in Advertising

    General Motors
is running ads on all the major networks this week claiming it has repaid its bailout from the taxpayers “in full.” But the claim isn’t standing up to scrutiny from lawmakers and government watchdogs who have found that the automaker was able to repay the bailout money only by dipping into a separate pot of bailout funds.

  24. samiam60 says:

General Motors is running ads on all the major networks this week claiming it has repaid its bailout from the taxpayers “in full.” But the claim isn’t standing up to scrutiny from lawmakers and government watchdogs who have found that the automaker was able to repay the bailout money only by dipping into a separate pot of bailout funds.

The TV spot may land GM in hot water
with the Federal Trade Commission over its truth-in-advertising laws, which prohibit ads that are “likely to mislead consumers.”

“We have repaid our government loans in full — with interest — five years ahead of the original schedule,” says Ed Whitacre, chairman and CEO of General Motors Company, asking Americans to give the bankrupt company another look.

But a top Senate Republican has accused GM of misleading taxpayers about the loan repayment, saying the struggling auto giant was able to repay a $6.7 billion bailout loan only by using other bailout funds in a special escrow account.

Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley’s charge was backed up by the inspector general for the bailout — also known as the Trouble Asset Relief Program, or TARP. Watchdog Neil Barofsky told Fox News, as well as the Senate Finance Committee, that General Motors used bailout money to pay back the federal government.

“It appears to be nothing more than an elaborate TARP money shuffle,” Grassley, the ranking Republican on the Senate Finance Committee, said in a letter Thursday to Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner.

You Decide: Did GM Try to Pull a PR Fast One?

The FTC said it could not provide any comment on the ad or whether it had received any complaints or inquiries about GM’s claims from the public or from government officials.

The FTC has a division of advertising practices that investigates possible false claims, but specific investigations are not made public. If the FTC determines that truth-in-advertising laws have been violated, the agency files complaints against the organizations in violation.

GM announced Wednesday that it had paid back the $8.1 billion in loans it received from the U.S. and Canadian governments in 2009. Of that, $6.7 billion went to the U.S. Treasury.

“A lot of Americans didn’t agree with giving GM a second chance,” Whitacre said in the 60-second ad. “We invite you to take a look at the new GM.”

Well, meet the new GM. Same as the old GM. The company is still majority-owned by the federal government, which has a 60 percent stake in the Detroit titan; the Canadian government owns another 12 percent.

GM is not yet solvent, continues to be racked by debt and is still unable to turn a profit — something that has eluded the company since 2004. GM filed for bankruptcy in 2009 but was saved from collapse by a $52 billion infusion from the federal government.

But the company says the repaid TARP loan is a “good start,” a signal that the company is emerging from its debts and moving back into the black.

“I think any way you look at it, that we’re giving (loans) back with interest before we had to should be taken as a positive sign,” said GM spokesman Greg Martin.

Martin said GM has not received any communications from the FTC or complaints from federal officials, and said that public feedback has been positive.

But Senator Grassley has called on Treasury Secretary Geithner to provide more information about why the company was allowed to use bailout money to repay bailout money, and how much of the remaining escrow money GM would be allowed to keep.

“The bottom line seems to be that the TARP loans were ‘repaid’ with other TARP funds in a Treasury escrow account. The TARP loans were not repaid from money GM is earning selling cars, as GM and the administration have claimed in their speeches, press releases and television commercials,” he wrote.

But Barofsky told Fox News that while it’s “somewhat good news,” there’s a big catch.

“I think the one thing that a lot of people overlook with this is where they got the money to pay back the loan. And it isn’t from earnings. … It’s actually from another pool of TARP money that they’ve already received,” he said Wednesday. “I don’t think we should exaggerate it too much. Remember that the source of this money is just other TARP money.”

Barofsky told the Senate Finance Committee the same thing Tuesday, and said the main way for the federal government to earn money out of GM would be through “a liquidation of its ownership interest.”

Grassley criticized this scenario in his letter.

“The taxpayers are still on the hook, and whether TARP funds are ultimately recovered depends entirely on the government’s ability to sell GM stock in the future. Treasury has merely exchanged a legal right to repayment for an uncertain hope of sharing in the future growth of GM. A debt-for-equity swap is not a repayment,” Grassley wrote.

factory that produces memory chips for computers and portable
There was some talk that my industry was being scrutinized by the
administration, but I paid it no mind. I live in a free country.
There’s nothing that the government can do to me if I’ve broken no
laws. My wealth was earned honestly, and an invitation to dinner with
an American President is an honor.

I checked my coat, was greeted by the Chief of Staff, and joined the
President in a yellow dining room. We sat across from each other at a
table draped in white linen. The Great Seal was embossed on the
china. Uniformed staff served our dinner.

The meal was served, and I was startled when my waiter suddenly
reached out, plucked a dinner roll off my plate, and began nibbling
it as he walked back to the kitchen.

“Sorry about that,” said the President. “Andrew is very hungry.”
“I don’t appreciate…” I began, but as I looked into the calm brown
eye across from me, I felt immediately guilty and petty. It was just
    a dinner roll.

“Of course,” I concluded, and reached for my glass. Before I could,
however, another waiter reached forward, took the glass away and
swallowed the wine in a single gulp.”And his brother, Eric, is very
    thirsty.” said the President.

I didn’t say anything. The President is testing my compassion, I

    I withheld
my comments and decided to play along. I don’t want to seem unkind.

My plate was whisked away before I had tasted a bite. “Eric’s
    children are also quiet hungry.
With a lurch, I crashed to the floor. My chair had been pulled out
from under me. I stood, brushing myself off angrily, and watched as
it was carried from the room.

And their grandmother can’t stand for long.”
I excused myself, smiling outwardly, but inside feeling like a fool.

Obviously I had been invited to the White House to be sport for some
I reached for my coat, to find that it had been taken. I turned back
    to the President.

“Their grandfather doesn’t like the cold.”
I wanted to shout, “that was my coat!” But again, I looked at the
placid smiling face of my host and decided I was being a poor sport.
I spread my hands helplessly and chuckled. Then I felt my hip pocket
and realized my wallet was gone. I excused myself and walked to a
phone on an elegant side table. I learned shortly that my credit
cards had been maxed out, my bank accounts emptied, my retirement and
equity portfolios had vanished, and my wife had been thrown out of
our home. Apparently, the waiters and their families were moving in.
The President hadn’t moved or spoken as I learned all this, but
finally I lowered the phone into its cradleand turned to face him.

“Andrew’s whole family has made bad financial decisions. They haven’t
planned for retirement, and they need a house. They recently
defaulted on a subprime mortgage. I told them they could have your
home. They need it more than you do.”

My hands were shaking. I felt faint. I stumbled back to the table and
knelt on the floor. The President cheerfully cut his meat, ate his
steak , and drank his wine. I lowered my eyes and stared at the small
grey circles on the tablecloth that were water drops.

“By the way,” He added, “I have just signed an Executive Order
nationalizing your factories. I’m firing you as head of your
business. I’ll be operating the firm now for the benefit of all

There’s a whole bunch of Erics and Andrews out there and they can’t
come to you for jobs groveling like beggars.”

I looked up. The President dropped his spoon into the empty ramekin
which had been his crème Brule. He drained the last drops of his
wine. As the table was cleared, he lit a cigarette and leaned back in
his chair. He stared at me. I clung to the edge of the table as if
were a ledge and I were a man hanging over an abyss. I thought of the
years behind me, of the life I had lived. The life I had earned with
a lifetime of work, risk and struggle. Why was I punished?
How had I allowed it to be taken? What game had I played and lost? I
looked across the table and noticed with some surprise that there was
    no game board between us.

    What had I done wrong?

As if answering the unspoken thought, the President suddenly cocked
his head, locked his empty eyes to mine, and bared a million teeth,
chuckling wryly as he folded his hands.

“You should have stopped me at the dinner roll,” he said.

Good morning Foxwood. Are you ready to fight that good fight for America?

  31. Foxwood says:

I’m back to piss some people off, Sami.

You can fall down the stairs and blame others for your misery, or you can get up, climb up and fight the Commie libs before they strangle your country.

    I’m for the latter.

We now have our Cannon Fire from the deep South. I love the smell of Gunpowder in the morning.

  33. Foxwood says:

We fired our cannon ’til the barrel melted down.

I am working today till 6 but off Sunday.

    A day of Rest 🙂

They don’t know of the mismanagement of Medicaid and Medicare. They don’t know that the biggest and most corrupt healthcare service is the US government.

Now the EPA wants some young indoctrinee to make a video of how government regulations are good for the country. These young indoctrinees don’t know anything about the Constitution for a reason. They will be the enforcers of Communism as they are taught Capitalism doesn’t work.

H.R. 2454, the “Cap & Trade” bill passed by the House of Representatives, if also passed by the Senate, will be the largest tax increase any of us has ever experienced.

“Kevin’s introduction is about keeping the world of Archie Comics current and inclusive,” said Jon Goldwater, Archie Comics Co, CEO, on the Archie’s website about Keller’s debut.

I do think that the kids should know that Iran is now a super power. Since the 2007 Arms Embargo they have built an impressive arms industry and are selling arms to others. Soon they will have a combo nuclear bomb cum space rocket delivery system. It will be available at Wendy’s drive up window. Of course Russia – our great friend is in there somewhere hedging its bets.

And so Obama lets out a new space vehicle – the mystery menace – and tells the world he has very effective non-nuclear weapons, too. Oh let’s go play at this house since he has the best toys.

Of course Obama forgets to tell you that buried in the new treaty with Russia is an agreement that we will drop some non-nuclear delivery systems as well. It’s kinda sorta like hiding the true cost of things in health care only this is hiding the true cost to our lives. He sees no difference.

  62. samhenry says:

Well, anything taller than Ahmadenijad is problematic. Nothing in Iran can be taller than he unless it comes in parts. It’s kind of like the way Philadelphia used to be – no building could be taller than the statue of William Penn on City Hall. That got trashed. Progress you know. Now poor Penn is in the shade a lot.

  63. samhenry says:

America – the Obama Administration will just not wake up to the fact that Russia is not our friend and that Iran IS on the cusp of super power status. So much for M.E. diplomacy. So Obama is in the woods in the Carolinas. I am sure he thinks he is at Camp David. He just doesn’t know where anything is strategically located anymore.

Bill Maher: Barack Obama Is A Moderate Republican By ’70s Standards
    By Noel Sheppard

Bill Maher on Friday said Barack Obama is a moderate Republican by ’70s standards.

As the subject on the most recent installment of “Real Time” moved to the retirement of Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens, the HBO host actually said that it was the Republican Party that has changed in the past thirty or forty years and not Stevens’ view of the world.

“You know what’s ironic is that you know who’s really a moderate Republican by ’70s standards?” Maher asked. “Barack Obama.”

Illegals are a tremendous problem associated with crime, drugs, and violence. Federal government’s failure to act is why Arizona pass this law. Illegals entered the US knowing they are breaking the law and deserve to be rounded up and thrown in jail.

At a point in time where there are no jobs in the US, why would we give them to ILLEGALS.

    The Bridge

A man on his Harley was riding along a California beach when suddenly the sky clouded above his head and, in a booming voice, God said, ‘because you have tried to be faithful to me in all ways, I will grant you one wish.’

The biker pulled over and said, ‘Build a bridge to Hawaii so I can ride over anytime I want.’

God replied, ‘Your request is materialistic; think of the enormous challenges for that kind of undertaking; the supports required reaching the bottom of the Pacific and the concrete and steel it would take! I can do it, but it is hard for me to justify your desire for worldly things. Take a little more time and think of something that could possibly help man kind.’

The biker thought about it for a long time. Finally, he said, ‘God, I wish that I, and all men, could understand women; I want to know how she feels inside, what she’s thinking when she gives me the silent treatment, why she cries, what she means when she says nothing’s wrong, why she snaps and complains when I try to help, and how I can make a woman truly happy.

    From the Hill

President Barack Obama’s hopes for winning climate change legislation in this Congress appeared to be hanging by a thread on Saturday.

The key Republican senator negotiating on the bill, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), threatened to abandon his work out of fury that Democratic leaders may take up immigration legislation before a global warming bill.

Hours later, the principal Democrat working the issue, Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.), announced that a press conference to unveil the legislation on Monday was being “temporarily” postponed due to “external issues.”

In an interview this week with The Hill, Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.), a key voice on the issue in the House, threatened to urge Hispanic voters to stay home in November if Democrats did not make a serious effort on immigration.

Discouraged Hispanic voters would be a major problem for Democrats running for reelection in 2010, including Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), who is behind in the polls and in recent weeks has pledged to move forward this year with immigration reform.

On Saturday, Reid said the public expects Congress to work on both climate change and immigration, but gave little signal over which could come first.
“Immigration and energy reform are equally vital to our economic and national security and have been ignored for far too long,” he said.

Reid did seem to give a small edge to climate change by stating that “significant committee work that has not yet begun” is necessary to move immigration reform. He did not give the same description of climate change legislation, which has already been approved by the House.

The Presbyterian Church down the street and around the corner in the village here had a chicken barbecue and so I limped on over tonight. I fell down yesterday again. I’m not too good on my feet and I have a medication that makes it worse. I’m like a collapsible umbrella. Boy do those Presbyterians cook! They have the best food booth at the annual village festival. All the religions in the village vie with one another in the culinary arts. I love it when barbecue season hits.

Everyone at my table was old like me and self-satisfied to live in this wonderful village in this part of our country. It’s a good feeling. It’s solid. There are good people here are I am so fortunate. And in my old age, the neighbors are very amenable to this old soul using the facilities at their homes when I can’t make it back to my own. Old age involves constant strategic planning. The military should hire me on.

Well suh Mr. FOX, I’m just about ready to hit the hay. My friend little Impulse is already zonked. She is so cute. Sam loved her so. He used to lick her up one side and down the other every day so she’d shine. And he was meticulous about her ears. I thought he’d lick them off her head. She misses him because she is cuddling very close to me days. But she is doing right well for a little old JRT. She was an only child before I got Sam so she rather relishes alone time with Mom. However, she is very demanding. I have to drop everything and scratch her tummy for hours – or she barks at me.

  102. samhenry says:

I’ll see you tomorrow, my FOX. And goodnight Sammi wherever you are? Are you with Mrs. Callabash Sami?

Who were the Real Slave Traders of Old?

While we are all familiar with the role played by the United States and the European colonial powers like Britain, France, Holland, Portugal and Spain, there is very little discussion of the role Africans themselves played. And that role, it turns out, was a considerable one, especially for the slave-trading kingdoms of western and central Africa. These included the Akan of the kingdom of Asante in what is now Ghana, the Fon of Dahomey (now Benin), the Mbundu of Ndongo in modern Angola and the Kongo of today’s Congo, among several others.

For centuries, Europeans in Africa kept close to their military and trading posts on the coast. Exploration of the interior, home to the bulk of Africans sold into bondage at the height of the slave trade, came only during the colonial conquests, which is why Henry Morton Stanley’s pursuit of Dr. David Livingstone in 1871 made for such compelling press: he was going where no (white) man had gone before.

How did slaves make it to these coastal forts? The historians John Thornton and Linda Heywood of Boston University estimate that 90 percent of those shipped to the New World were enslaved by Africans and then sold to European traders. The sad truth is that without complex business partnerships between African elites and European traders and commercial agents, the slave trade to the New World would have been impossible, at least on the scale it occurred.

  122. samiam60 says:

This is a 2 page article by the New York Times and should be read by all.

  123. samiam60 says:

For many African-Americans, these facts can be difficult to accept. Excuses run the gamut, from “Africans didn’t know how harsh slavery in America was” and “Slavery in Africa was, by comparison, humane” or, in a bizarre version of “The devil made me do it,” “Africans were driven to this only by the unprecedented profits offered by greedy European countries.”

But the sad truth is that the conquest and capture of Africans and their sale to Europeans was one of the main sources of foreign exchange for several African kingdoms for a very long time. Slaves were the main export of the kingdom of Kongo; the Asante Empire in Ghana exported slaves and used the profits to import gold. Queen Njinga, the brilliant 17th-century monarch of the Mbundu, waged wars of resistance against the Portuguese but also conquered polities as far as 500 miles inland and sold her captives to the Portuguese. When Njinga converted to Christianity, she sold African traditional religious leaders into slavery, claiming they had violated her new Christian precepts.

Did these Africans know how harsh slavery was in the New World? Actually, many elite Africans visited Europe in that era, and they did so on slave ships following the prevailing winds through the New World. For example, when Antonio Manuel, Kongo’s ambassador to the Vatican, went to Europe in 1604, he first stopped in Bahia, Brazil, where he arranged to free a countryman who had been wrongfully enslaved.

African monarchs also sent their children along these same slave routes to be educated in Europe. And there were thousands of former slaves who returned to settle Liberia and Sierra Leone. The Middle Passage, in other words, was sometimes a two-way street. Under these circumstances, it is difficult to claim that Africans were ignorant or innocent.

Given this remarkably messy history, the problem with reparations may not be so much whether they are a good idea or deciding who would get them; the larger question just might be from whom they would be extracted.

So how could President Obama untangle the knot? In David Remnick’s new book “The Bridge: The Life and Rise of Barack Obama,” one of the president’s former students at the University of Chicago comments on Mr. Obama’s mixed feelings about the reparations movement: “He told us what he thought about reparations. He agreed entirely with the theory of reparations. But in practice he didn’t think it was really workable.”

About the practicalities, Professor Obama may have been more right than he knew. Fortunately, in President Obama, the child of an African and an American, we finally have a leader who is uniquely positioned to bridge the great reparations divide. He is uniquely placed to publicly attribute responsibility and culpability where they truly belong, to white people and black people, on both sides of the Atlantic, complicit alike in one of the greatest evils in the history of civilization. And reaching that understanding is a vital precursor to any just and lasting agreement on the divisive issue of slavery reparations.

Editor’s note: Roland S. Martin, a CNN political analyst, is a nationally syndicated columnist and author of “Listening to the Spirit Within: 50 Perspectives on Faith,” and the new book, “The First: President Barack Obama’s Road to the White House.” He is a commentator for TV One Cable Network and host of a Sunday morning news show.

(CNN) — John Boyd is tired.

He’s tired of having meetings with members of Congress. Tired of trying to talk with the Obama administration and the president himself. Tired of hearing people say that they sympathize with his effort to fight widespread and longtime discrimination by the federal government against the nation’s black farmers.

But more importantly, he’s tired of attending another funeral of an elderly black farmer, knowing full well that the man and woman never had the satisfaction of seeing the federal government honor its word and fund the $1.15 billion settlement stemming from a decades-long discrimination fight.

The settlement announcement between Boyd’s group, the National Black Farmers Association, and the Obama administration stipulated that the money was to be paid by March 31, but Congress went on a recess without acting on the request.

This week, in between funerals of his dying membership, Boyd visited with the officials working with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, as well as President Obama, hoping someone would show some leadership and make the settlement a possibility.

Boyd even pushed the administration to grant the money on an emergency basis, but was told they would not support that effort, which would allow them to circumvent the congressional pay/go rules.

Yet all that has transpired is talk, but no action.

This whole battle began when a North Carolina charged that the U.S. Department of Agriculture had for decades denied service and equitable loans to African- American farmers compared with whites. The class-action lawsuit initially was settled by the Clinton administration, known as Pigford I, but not all claims met the original deadline. The second settlement, known as Pigford II, is the current case.

It’s understandable that Congress doesn’t want to add more to the growing U.S. deficit, but what about the enormous opportunities denied to these black farmers for years by the same federal government? These men and women weren’t asking for a handout. They were using their own hands to till land, grow crops, provide a way of life to send their children to college, and grow and prosper like every American. But it was clear racism that denied them of that opportunity. Thousands of dollars were provided for white farmers to build and grow, and if they received any money at all, hundreds were thrown their way.

This generation of Americans, when confronted with the past sins of racism, often remark that slavery and Jim Crow was so long ago. But we are talking about men and women who have fought a racist system in the last 20 to 30 years. They are the victims of racism, so why should Congress continue to deprive them by not setting the money aside?

Again, had the USDA not systematically denied them the opportunities afforded to white farmers, had they treated all farmers the same way, this generation of Americans wouldn’t have to be paying for the sins of the past.

But we are. And instead of ignoring their plight, Congress should say, “Enough is enough. We did wrong by them years ago. And it’s time that we make it right.”

No one will ever know the pain and agony of trying to eke out a living as a farmer, only to witness the loss of the land your parents and grandparents fought to keep in the family. But this continuing mistreatment of black farmers is shameful.

Every American, no matter their skin color, should demand that Congress stop playing games. How do you pay for it? Killing a few of those precious earmarks is a good start.

No more press releases. No more meetings. No more talk. All these men and women want is fairness. They didn’t get it years ago, and surely deserve it now.

The opinions expressed in this commentary are solely those of Roland Martin.

Time for Congress to pay black farmers?

Could Cleaner Air Actually Intensify Global Warming?

    by NPR Staff

    April 25, 2010

Is the solution to global warning more pollution?

As much of the world marked Earth Day this past week, the Environmental Protection Agency reported that air pollution has declined dramatically over the last 20 years. It sounds like good news, but science writer Eli Kintisch argues that there’s a surprising downside: Cleaner air might actually intensify global warming.

“If we continue to cut back on smoke pouring forth from industrial smokestacks, the increase in global warming could be profound,” Kintisch writes in an opinion piece for the Los Angeles Times.

“Conservative protest is motivated by a love of what America stands for.”

“The latest liberal meme is to equate skepticism of the Obama administration with a tendency toward violence. That takes me back 15 years ago to the time President Bill Clinton accused “loud and angry voices” on the airwaves (i.e., radio talk-show hosts like me) of having incited Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh. What self-serving nonsense. Liberals are perfectly comfortable with antigovernment protest when they’re not in power.

From the halls of the Ivy League to the halls of Congress, from the antiwar protests during the Vietnam War and the war in Iraq to the anticapitalist protests during International Monetary Fund and World Bank meetings, we’re used to seeing leftist malcontents take to the streets. Sometimes they’re violent, breaking shop windows with bricks and throwing rocks at police. Sometimes there are arrests. Not all leftists are violent, of course. But most are angry. It’s in their DNA. They view the culture as corrupt and capitalism as unjust.

Now the liberals run the government and they’re using their power to implement their radical agenda. Mr. Obama and his party believe that the election of November 2008 entitled them to make permanent, “transformational” changes to our society. In just 16 months they’ve added more than $2 trillion to the national debt, essentially nationalized the health-care system, the student-loan industry, and have their sights set on draconian cap-and-trade regulations on carbon emissions and amnesty for illegal aliens.

Had President Obama campaigned on this agenda, he wouldn’t have garnered 30% of the popular vote.

Like the millions of citizens who’ve peacefully risen up and attended thousands of rallies in protest, I seek nothing more than the preservation of the social contract that undergirds our society. I do not hate the government, as the left does when it is not running it. I love this country. And because I do, I insist that the temporary inhabitants of high political office comply with the Constitution, honor our God-given unalienable rights, and respect our hard-earned private property. For this I am called seditious, among other things, by some of the very people who’ve condemned this society?

Former President Bill Clinton broadened his warning that Tea Party protesters could fuel violence reminiscent of the Oklahoma City bombing. Video courtesy of Fox News.

I reject the notion that America is in a well-deserved decline, that she and her citizens are unexceptional. I do not believe America is the problem in the world. I believe America is the solution to the world’s problems. I reject a foreign policy that treats our allies like our enemies and our enemies like our allies. I condemn the president traveling the world apologizing for America’s great contributions to mankind. And I condemn his soft-pedaling the dangers we face from terrorism. For this I am inciting violence?

Few presidents have sunk so low as Mr. Clinton did with his accusations about Oklahoma City. Last week—on the very day I was contributing to and raising more than $3 million to fight leukemia and lymphoma on my radio program—Mr. Clinton used the 15th anniversary of that horrific day to regurgitate his claims about talk radio.

At a speech delivered last Friday at the Center for American Progress in Washington, D.C., the former president said: [T]here were a lot of people who were in the business back then of saying that the biggest threat to our liberty and the cause of our domestic economic problem was the federal government itself. And we have to realize that there were others who fueled this both because they agreed with it and because it was in their advantage to do so. . . . We didn’t have blog sites back then so the instrument of carrying this forward was basically the right-wing radio talk show hosts and they understand clearly that emotion was more powerful than reason most of the time.”

Timothy McVeigh was incensed by the Clinton administration’s 1993 siege on the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas. It’s no coincidence that the bombing took place two years to the day of the Waco siege. McVeigh was not inspired by anything I said or believe and to say otherwise is outright slander. In the aftermath of the bombing, I raised millions of dollars for the children of federal employees killed in that cowardly attack through my association with the Marine Corp Law Enforcement Foundation.

Let me just say it. The Obama/Clinton/media left are comfortable with the unrest in our society today. It allows them to blame and demonize their opponents (doctors, insurance companies, Wall Street, talk radio, Fox News) in order to portray their regime as the great healer of all our ills, thus expanding their power and control over our society.

A clear majority of the American people want no part of this. They instinctively know that the Obama way is not how things get done in this country. They are motivated by love. Not hate, not sedition. They love their country and want to save it from those who do not.”

It’s funny, VF, that Teapartiers “might” be dangerous, yet it’s the lefties that throw rocks and bottles and beat up people.

So, there’s a problem if you might be dangerous, but not if your actually dangerous?

Or is the reality, your only dangerous if your a Conservative?

  188. samhenry says:

VF I did a post on it. I am thoroughly disgusted with Lindsay Graham and his hissey fits.

Intelligent people know he doesn’t represent most Republicans. But the masses – OY.

I hope he doesn’t blow it for us in 2010 because he has given the Democrats a pile of ammo (sorry – violent imagery).

  189. samhenry says:

It is if you are perceived to be dangerous. Then, instead of picking you up and checking your perceived-to-be-dangerous ID, they just film you and label you as dangerous even if you are walking across the street. They’re into labeling not arresting.

Do I remember the Chicago riots at the Democratic Convention. Ah, sweet memories of youth and of how the Republicans took over eventually and caused the country to continue to mature in adult, free fashion.

He should have stayed the course and made a strong response that was not an ad hominem attack. I don’t like to see us play in the sandbox the way the Democrats do. It was his hissey fit and not what he was saying that I feel will give us trouble.

  193. samhenry says:

HEY FOX – superlative video. We need to remind the present generation about how Democrats really handle riots – and not a Mexican in sight just middle class, highly educated white youth on a tear. I wonder what they would do today?

Nixon’s victory is often considered a realigning election in American politics. From 1933 to 1968, the Democratic Party was obviously the majority party. During that time period, the Democrats won seven out of nine presidential elections. The election of 1968 reversed the situation completely. From 1968 to 2008, the Republican Party was undoubtedly the majority party. During that time period, the Republicans won seven out of ten presidential elections

Vandals smear refried beans into swastikas in Ariz. capital, more protests planned

    JONATHAN J. COOPER • Associated Press Writer • April 26, 2010

PHOENIX (AP) — The conflict over a sweeping crackdown on illegal immigration in Arizona intensified Monday as vandals smeared refried beans in the shape of swastikas on the state Capitol’s windows.

More protests were planned Monday after thousands gathered this weekend to demonstrate against a bill that will make it a state crime to be an illegal immigrant in Arizona.

Arizona is a war zone. The President should have the guts to send down some troops to protect both the citizens and local law enforcement. If there are riots, it’s on his head. It would drive home the point of what is REALLY going on to give the illegals a bad name. Al Qaeda and other terrorist operatives are hoping that this racial turmoil keeps things nice and confused down there. It will serve their purposes.

It is tragic. We need to picket the White House to take action.

Thanks for letting me know I’m not alone in my feelings. It will be so simple for the President to get out front of this in an equitable way.

I have been spouting for an entire year about Obama’s priorities and how they would bite him someday. It didn’t take a rocket scientist to see that – just someone who wasn’t fired up to get free stuff from the government. He needed to deal with the war, the economy and take on immigration reform. Once he had an idea of how much money was left, then he could have realistically assessed how much money he had left to deal with.

So, O, declare war on the Mexican cartel and get on with it. How many more Mexicans, Mexican Americans and Americans are going to have to have to die unavenged before you send in the troops to end it. Mexico can’t end it. If they could, the cartel would not have grown to the status it has today. The Cartel is running the country. Wake up, O. At least send Bo down there to bark at a few people.

Sharpton vows to protest Arizona immigration bill

    The Associated Press
    Sunday, April 25, 2010; 3:00 PM

NEW YORK — The Rev. Al Sharpton says he’s ready to travel to Arizona and march in the streets to protest the state’s new immigration law.

Sharpton joined Lillian Rodriguez Lopez from the Hispanic Federation in New York City on Sunday to speak out against the law. They say activists are prepared to commit civil disobedience to fight it.

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer signed the bill Friday. It requires police to question people about their immigration status – including asking for identification – if they suspect someone is in the country illegally.

The law will take effect in late July or early August.

President Barack Obama has called the new law “misguided” and has instructed the Justice Department to examine it to see if it’s legal.

(CNN) — Delivering on a promise he made nearly a year ago, President Obama will host a two-day entrepreneurship summit beginning Monday designed to improve relations with the Muslim world.

“It represents an opportunity to highlight and support business and social entrepreneurship in Muslim-majority countries, including their minority populations, and Muslim communities around the world,” a statement from the summit’s website said.

“Through this summit, the United States seeks both to join existing efforts and inspire new efforts to promote entrepreneurship and innovation.”

The summit will include remarks by the president and Commerce Secretary Gary Locke and closing comments from Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Participants from more than 40 countries on five continents have been invited to participate, according to the White House. “The summit will highlight the role entrepreneurship can play in addressing common challenges while building partnerships that will lead to greater opportunity abroad and at home,” it said.

The president extended the offer for the summit to Muslims around the world while in Cairo, Egypt, in June. In a speech, Obama stressed the importance of “education and innovation” in lands where “there remains underinvestment in these areas.” He called for “a new corps of business volunteers to partner with counterparts in Muslim-majority countries”

The internal effects of a mutable policy are still more calamitous. It poisons the blessing of liberty itself. It will be of little avail to the people, that the laws are made by men of their own choice, if the laws be so voluminous that they cannot be read, or so incoherent that they cannot be understood; if they be repealed or revised before they are promulgated, or undergo such incessant changes that no man, who knows what the law is to-day, can guess what it will be to-morrow. Law is defined to be a rule of action; but how can that be a rule, which is little known, and less fixed?

Chicago Violence: National Guard Needed? Two Democrats Say Yes

    By Shannon Bell
    Monday, April 26th, 2010 at 2:54 pm

Two Illinois state lawmakers, both Democrats, have asked Governor Pat Quinn and Mayor Richard Daley to do something about rising Chicago violence. National Guard troops are being requested by John Fritchey and LaShawn Ford who say something needs to be done to help the people of Chicago feel safe again.

In what he concedes is a drastic call to action, Fritchey said that he’s not looking for tanks to roll down the streets of Chicago, but what he is looking for is perhaps an increased presence especially in certain neighborhoods where crime is rampant. So far this year 113 people have lost their lives in Chicago violence; National Guard troops would help curb that say Ford and Fritchey.

This is amazing. They are smart enough to request at least national guard troops for Chicago in the drugs/crime situation but not in Arizona. If we don’t get after this drug business, we will have Arizona all over the country.

I also feel sick. I have to call my boarder from Ghana. Imp got into some of his native foodstuffs and I have to ask him:

The Department is led by the Attorney General, who is nominated by the President and confirmed by the Senate and is a member of the Cabinet. The current Attorney General is Eric Holder.

Obama Jumps Into 2010 Race With Appeal to Latinos, African-Americans, Women and Youth

President Obama left white, middle-aged male voters in his rear-view mirror Monday in launching his first midterm election pitch, calling on “young people, African Americans, Latinos and women” to deliver for Democrats in November.

  267. samiam60 says:

President Obama left white, middle-age male voters in his rear-view mirror Monday in launching his first midterm election pitch, calling on “young people, African Americans, Latinos and women” to deliver for Democrats in November.

In a video to supporters, Obama urged those who helped get him elected in 2008 not to abandon Democrats in an election year that is shaping up to take a chunk out of the Democratic majority in Congress.

In the appeal, Obama says new voters who “powered our victory in 2008” need to “stay involved” in 2010.

“It will be up to each of you to make sure that the young people, African Americans, Latinos and women, who powered our victory in 2008 stand together once again,” he said.

“If you help us do that — if you help us make sure that first-time voters in 2008 make their voices heard again in November — then together we will deliver on the promise of change and hope and prosperity for generations to come,” he said.

The promotion, which reaches out to constituencies that voted in large measure for Obama but typically vote in lower percentages than older and white voters, is being sponsored by the Democratic National Committee and Organizing for America, the group formed from Obama’s massive e-mail support during the 2008 campaign.

Obama also tweeted his message: “Announcing #OFA and @democratsdotorg plans for the 2010 elections—and the important role that you can play. Watch: http://j.mp/blRzwT.”

White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said as the November races gear up, the president wanted to speak to his supporters.

“There are elections in November and I’m sure the president is going to participate,” Gibbs said.

While National Republican Committee Chairman Michael Steele has also said that he wants the party to reach out to minority voters, the president’s appeal to minority voters comes just as immigration reform takes center stage inside Washington debate circles.

The statement also echoes Obama’s warning during the health care debate — that voters will decide in November whether they like what the administration and Democratic Congress is doing. His remarks repeat the positioning from congressional Democrats who allege Republicans are in the pocket of “big business” to the detriment of the American people.

“Despite everything we’ve done, our work isn’t finished. Today, the health insurance companies, the Wall Street banks, and the special interests who have ruled Washington for too long are already focused on November’s congressional elections. They see these elections as a chance to put their allies back in power, and undo all that we have accomplished. So this year, I need your help once more,” he said.

But National Republican Senatorial Committee spokesman Brian Walsh issued a response saying the president’s “rally cry” is an attempt to sell a product independent voters don’t want.

“I think the fundamental problem is that candidate Obama has turned out to be a much different person than President Obama and independent voters across the country are simply not buying what they’re trying to sell,” Walsh told Fox News Radio. “That’s because the politics of hope has been replaced by the policies of higher taxes, reckless spending and more government control over Americans’ everyday lives.”

Walsh noted that each time the president has gotten involved in an election over the past 15 months, it has not worked out well for Democrats.

“We certainly expect that he’s going to go out on the campaign trail but I would point out that he sought to do the same thing in New Jersey and Virginia and most recently in Massachusetts and in all three elections the Democrats lost even with the president’s last minute campaigning.”

Fox News polling from last week shows that Obama has a 39 percent approval rating from independent voters with a 47 percent disapproval. A separate Gallup Poll out last week showed that self-identified party affiliation had reached its narrowest gap since 2005, when the war in Iraq under the Bush administration was growing unpopular. The poll out Friday showed 46 percent of Americans identified as Democrats or leaned Democratic, while 45 percent identified as or leaned Republican.

OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma House voted overwhelmingly Monday to override vetoes of two restrictive abortion measures Gov. Brad Henry has called unconstitutional intrusions into citizens’ private lives and decisions.

The Senate was expected to follow suit Tuesday, after which the bills would become law.

One of the measures requires women to undergo an ultrasound and listen to a detailed description of the fetus before getting an abortion. The other prohibits pregnant women from seeking damages if physicians withhold information or provide inaccurate information about their pregnancy.

Supporters said the second measure was aimed at preventing women from discriminating against fetuses with disabilities. The votes were 81-14 and 84-12.

Henry, who vetoed the measures Friday, has called the ultrasound legislation flawed because it does not allow exemptions for victims of rape and incest. The Center for Reproductive Rights, a national abortion rights group, calls it among the strictest anti-abortion measures in the nation.

Keri Parks, director of external affairs for Planned Parenthood of Oklahoma City, urged the Senate to uphold the governor’s vetoes.

“Doctors, not politicians, should be making these medical decisions,” Parks said.

Each of the vetoed bills passed the 48-member Senate 35-11, one vote shy of the three-quarters majority needed to override. Anti-abortion legislation supporter Sen. Mike Mazzei, R-Tulsa, was absent when both bills received final passage.

Tony Lauinger, state chairman of the anti-abortion group Oklahomans for Life and vice president of the National Right to Life Committee, said Mazzei is expected to be in the Senate chamber Tuesday.

But Senate Democratic Leader Charlie Laster of Shawnee, who voted to pass the bills, said Henry had raised important issues and that he had not decided Monday whether he would vote to override the Democratic governor.

“We’re not baseball umpires. We don’t stick by our call even if it’s a bad one. We get to reconsider,” Laster said.

Supporters of the legislation said they do not share the governor’s concerns about its constitutionality, which they say should be left to the courts to decide.

“We must move to stop the degradation of human life seen in recent years and stand up for those who cannot defend themselves,” said House Speaker Chris Benge, R-Tulsa.

Legislative attempts to restrict abortion are not unusual across the country, or in Oklahoma.

This month alone, Henry has signed laws requiring clinics to post signs stating a woman cannot be forced to have an abortion, saying an abortion will not be performed until the woman gives her voluntary consent and making abortions based on child’s gender illegal.

Nebraska also put new restrictions on abortion this month, enacting a law that bars the procedure at and after 20 weeks of pregnancy based on the assertion fetuses can feel pain at that point. The other requires women be screened before having abortions for mental health issues and other risk factors indicating if they might have problems afterward.

Some have not presented themselves today, Sami. They are in the future. But today, I see that senate Republicans are beginning to speak up in positive ways (see my post today). The teapartiers are not caving to Democrat labeling.

There is the undeniable power of the Conservative bloggers. There is a spirit among the opposition that says never give up. We are fighting and we are calling out our own shortcomings so that we can shore them up before the Dems do and we are effective in getting OUR message out. There are a lot of intelligent hard working people on our side.

Health Care was one thing. It will not be so easy going forward for the big O. Remember how popular Opra was. She isn’t anymore.

In May 2009, Ian Jolly, 57, was attempting to dine at the Thai Spice restaurant in Adelaide, when he was refused entry after staff misheard his female companion, and thought his “guide dog” was a “gay dog.”

“The staff genuinely believed that Nudge was an ordinary pet dog which had been desexed to become a gay dog,” the owners said in a statement to South Australia’s Equal Opportunity Tribunal.

Jolly is now set to receive a written apology and $1,400 compensation.

However, Jolly said that the situation had made him embarrassed about going to restaurants.

Debt Commission Gets Started With ‘Everything’ on the Table, Including National Sales Tax

President Obama said Tuesday that “everything has to be on the table” as his newly appointed debt commission goes to work, but he would not entertain questions about whether tax increases, included a value-added tax, or spending cuts will get serious consideration.

  318. samiam60 says:

President Obama said Tuesday that “everything has to be on the table” as his newly appointed debt commission goes to work, but he would not entertain questions about whether tax increases, included a value-added tax, or spending cuts will get serious consideration.

“We’re not playing that game,” the president said.

Among the proposals that have generated attention recently is the idea of a value-added tax, a form of a national sales tax. Though Obama has indicated an openness to considering the tax, he said Tuesday that he would not indulge in any speculation.

“We’re not going to say what’s in. I’m not going to say what’s out. I want this commission to be free to do its work,” he said, warning that the country would face a “day of reckoning” if the federal government cannot control its spending.

Former Wyoming Republican Sen. Alan Simpson will join former Clinton Chief of Staff Erskine Bowles to lead the elite18-member debt commission convening Tuesday — a panel appointed by Democrats and Republicans to come up with a plan to save America from its spendthrift ways.

The commission’s charge is to produce a deficit no bigger than $550 billion by 2015, an amount equal to about 3 percent of the total U.S. economy. That would require deficit savings in the range of $250 billion or more.

The deficit for last fiscal year, which ended Sept. 30, was $1.4 trillion. Many projections show the yearly deficit not dipping below 4 percent of the economy over the next decade.

Peter Orszag, White House budget office director, said in prepared remarks to the commission that persistently high deficits could eventually stifle the economy.

“The options to further reduce the deficit may not be popular, but they are necessary,” he said.

Simpson said he doesn’t know what will make the final recommendations — due Dec. 1 — but he is not going to take anything for granted, including the VAT, which would add a charge on all stages of production of a good for sale in the United States.

But Simpson said the VAT should not be an additional tax on top of the income tax.

“To drag this specter of the value added tax like a dead rat through the room without doing
something with the income tax is a fakery,” Simpson told Fox News on Monday. “What is this value added tax? I haven’t the slightest idea but if you’re going mess around in that area or flat tax, you’re going to adjust the other tax in accordance.”

The VAT is commonly used in Europe and adds about 17 percent to the price of a good sold in the United Kingdom.

Obama said last week that he was listening to arguments for a VAT, but those against it say that it reduces consumer purchasing power.

“It’s like carbon monoxide, you can’t see it you can’t smell it, but it kills you just as effectively,” said British author James Delingpole, who wrote, “Welcome to Obamaland.”

But finding consensus among the panel — composed of 10 Democratically appointed commissioners and eight Republican appointees — will be an especially challenging task because it takes 14 votes out of the 18 members to approve a recommendation.

“This is a suicide mission,” Simpson, R-Wyo., said on “Fox News Sunday.”

The options for curbing the deficit — cutting spending on popular entitlement programs and broad-based tax increases — are politically toxic, part of the reason, Simpson said, the panel set its deadline after the November midterm election — so the recommendations couldn’t be used by politicians seeking a congressional seat.

The hope is that the commission can insulate itself from politics and that the requirement for bipartisanship would give both sides political cover. With few exceptions, most successful deficit reduction efforts have been bipartisan.

“Let’s see if we can persuade people to trust each other, come together, and really take some of these tough stands to bring down spending,” Bowles, said on “Fox News Sunday.” “Everything has to be on the table, whether it’s revenue or spending. I personally would like to go after spending first.”

Simpson said there are no sacred cows when it comes to taxes or spending because the minor economic comeback so far this year can do nothing to sustain the rate of debt.

“If that’s the wind, that’s got to be a sparrow belch in a typhoon. We can’t grow our way out of this. Double rates the growth in 30 years wouldn’t grow out of this,” he said, adding that the United States is going to borrow to pay for war, homeland security, education and veteran benefits not to mention the cost of obligations through Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.

But finding common ground will be the biggest challenge as 12 of the commission members — six Democrats and six Republicans — are currently members of Congress appointed by their party leaders. The other six — Simpson, Bowles, former Young and Rubicam CEO Ann Fudge, former Federal Reserve Vice Chairwoman Alice Rivlin, Service Employees International Union chief Andy Stern and Honeywell Corp. Chief Executive Dave Cote were appointed by the president.

Already, interest groups on the left are weighing in, urging Democrats to avoid cutting spending on popular benefit programs like Social Security and Medicare.

“Simply put, Social Security has not contributed one thin dime to the current deficit. It should not be used as a piggy bank to pay our way out of the fiscal hole we find ourselves in,” said Barbara Kennelly, president of the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare.

There hasn’t been a significant deficit-cutting effort since 1997, when a GOP-led Congress and newly re-elected Clinton came together to produce a balanced budget plan combining a relatively painless set of spending cuts with tax cuts sought by Republicans and a new children’s health plan embraced by both parties. That deal was greatly helped by improving deficit projections.

But the fiscal gap confronting the commission is considerably more daunting. Executive Director Bruce Reed says the debt panel will try to close the 2015 budget deficit from the $793 billion projected by the Congressional Budget Office for Obama’s budget down to $520 billion or so.

Obama will meet privately with the panel for 20 minutes or so and make brief remarks afterward. Federal Reserve Board Chairman Ben Bernanke and Obama’s budget chief Peter Orszag will also address the panel.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Puerto Ricans split on statehood vote

A vote on the future of Puerto Rico has created a rift in the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, with two of the most prominent Hispanic members of Congress lining up against a House bill while the Puerto Rico delegate backs the legislation.

Rep. Nydia Velazquez, a New York Democrat and one of the most prominent Puerto Ricans in Congress, along with Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.), have been outspoken in their opposition to the legislation, which would mandate a vote on the island on whether residents want to change their governing status as a commonwealth.

The History of Mankind and how there came to be Liberals and Conservatives.

For those that don’t know about history … Here is a condensed version:

Humans originally existed as members of small bands of nomadic hunters/gatherers. They lived on deer in the mountains during the summer and would go to the coast and live on fish and lobster in the winter.

The two most important events in all of history were the invention of beer and the invention of the wheel. The wheel was invented to get man to the beer. These were the foundation of modern civilization and together were the catalyst for the splitting of humanity into two distinct subgroups:

    1. Liberals, and
    2. Conservatives.

Once beer was discovered, it required grain and that was the beginning of agriculture. Neither the glass bottle nor aluminum can were invented yet, so while our early humans were sitting around waiting for them to be invented, they just stayed close to the brewery. That’s how villages were formed.

Some men spent their days tracking and killing animals to BBQ at night while they were drinking beer. This was the beginning of what is known as the Conservative movement…

Other men who were weaker and less skilled at hunting learned to live off the conservatives by showing up for the nightly BBQ’s and doing the sewing, fetching, and hair dressing. This was the beginning of the Liberal movement.

Some of these liberal men eventually evolved into women. They became known as girlie-men. Some noteworthy liberal achievements include the domestication of cats, the invention of group therapy, group hugs, and the concept of Democratic voting to decide how to divide the meat and beer that conservatives provided.

Over the years conservatives came to be symbolized by the largest, most powerful land animal on earth, the elephant. Liberals are symbolized by the jackass for obvious reasons.

Modern liberals like imported beer (with lime added), but most prefer white wine or imported bottled water. They eat raw fish but like their beef well done. Sushi, tofu, and French food are standard liberal fare.. Another interesting evolutionary side note: most of their women have higher testosterone levels than their men. Most social workers, personal injury attorneys, journalists, dreamers in Hollywood and group therapists are liberals. Liberals invented the designated hitter rule because it wasn’t fair to make the pitcher also bat.

Conservatives drink domestic beer, mostly Bud or Miller. They eat red meat and still provide for their women. Conservatives are big game hunters, rodeo cowboys, lumberjacks, construction workers, firemen, medical doctors, police officers, engineers, corporate executives, athletes, members of the military, airline pilots and generally anyone who works productively. Conservatives who own companies hire other conservatives who want to work for a living.

Liberals produce little or nothing. They like to govern the producers and decide what to do with the production. Liberals believe Europeans are more enlightened than Americans. That is why most of the liberals remained in Europe when conservatives were coming to America . They crept in after the Wild West was tamed and created a business of trying to get more for nothing.

Here ends today’s lesson in world history:

Stop Puerto Rico from gaining Statehood. Opponents will call it racist to do so, but Obutthole is losing voter as they are learning about his Commie ways.

When Puerto Ricans, illegals, criminals, and Washington DC get the right to vote, he gets his second term or more unless his term never ends.

Foxwood, at the rate we are going with all this stuff the White Race will be the ONLY minority in the United States.

Puerto Rico – 51st State? Congress to move fast on this one.
    The Radio Patriot ^ | April 28, 2010 | Andrea Shea King

Last night on his TV show, Glenn Beck dropped another bombshell — on Thursday, Congress will take up a bill to make Puerto Rico a state. Why is our Congress doing this now? Secretly? Quickly? If it hadn’t been for one of Beck’s “Refounders” (a Congressional insider), would we even know about this? Why is this important to you and me?

I think Puerto Ricans are wise to not want to be a part of this mess.

What about Haiti? You don’t think Obama will want them next?

How about Kenya? You don’t think Obama will want them also?

    What an Ass

  369. samhenry says:

I don’t know Sami. Chavez has already figured out we want Haiti so where’s the fun in that.

Kenya would smack of nepotism. How about Spain where they really know how to shoot the bull. And I love the food.

Here’s what’s going on over on Wall Street from Yahoo Fiance

1:05 pm : News that S&P downgraded Spain’s credit rating took stocks sharply lower in late morning trade, but buyers have stepped back in to offer support. In turn, stocks have retraced most of the slide.

Though action was a bit choppy in the early going, stocks started the session with modest gains. Financials were a primary source of support as the sector climbed to a near 2% gain in early trade. The sector has given up part of its gain, but still leads with a 1.3% gain.

Strength among financial issues has helped the broader market recover from the flurry of selling that followed news that analysts at Standard & Poor’s downgraded the debt of Spain. The news comes just one day after they downgraded the ratings of both Portugal and Greece.

Similar to yesterday’s announcement, the news has sent the dollar higher. The Dollar Index had traded with moderate weakness earlier this session, but it is now up 0.1% as the euro surrendered its gains.

Senate Dems plan all-nighter to push GOP on Wall Street reform
By Alexander Bolton – 04/28/10 12:51 PM ET

Senate Democratic leaders are planning for an all-night session to put more pressure on Republicans to allow a debate on Wall Street reform.

Republican senators voted for the third time in three days on Wednesday to block an effort to bring a reform bill to the floor.

Democratic aides said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) plans to keep the Senate in session overnight to force Republicans to reconsider their opposition to the Democratic legislation.

Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin (Ill.) said leaders had decided to hold a nighttime session to highlight GOP opposition to the Wall Street reform bill.

“I think so, that’s our plan,” Durbin told The Hill.

Democratic aides confirmed the internal discussions.

“There’s some appetite in the caucus for that,” said a senior Democratic aide. “We may be going in that direction.”

The aide said a final decision would be made after the vote to begin debate, which Republicans then defeated.

A second Senate Democratic aide said leadership staff has put out the word the Senate might hold a marathon session Wednesday into Thursday.

Reid warned Republicans they would face repeated votes to cut off debate on the Wall Street reform bill if they continued to filibuster the measure.

“Let’s get onto this bill because we’re going to continue having votes on this matter as long as it takes,” Reid told Republicans during a floor speech.

    From the HILL

    Some useful news:

During the recent 40th anniversary of Earth Week, more than 800 community pharmacies across the country launched a “Dispose My Meds” campaign, coordinated by the National Community Pharmacists Association. At http://www.disposemymeds.org, patients can learn about the negative impact of improper medication disposal and find a participating pharmacy. In the Washington, DC area, disposal options include the Neighborhood Pharmacy of Alexandria, Leesburg Pharmacy in Leesburg and a number of pharmacies in the Baltimore area.

The need to properly dispose of unused prescription medication is evident. More than 2.1 million children ages 12 to 17 reported abusing prescription drugs in 2008. That’s second only to marijuana use, according to the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. The same survey found the majority of teens obtain these prescription medications through family or friends.
The environmental impact can also be significant. An estimated 250 million pounds of unused medications are improperly disposed of each year. A 2008 Associated Press investigation discovered a wide array of pharmaceuticals detected in the drinking water supplies of 24 major metropolitan areas, affecting at least 41 million Americans

  380. samiam60 says:

Foxwood, how about Mexico and Socialist Canada?

Maybe we can throw in Denmark????

  381. samiam60 says:

Maybe that is just what we need SamH. More drugs in the water. I for one think they should all be sent to this Congress to ingest.

  382. samhenry says:

Hi AFVET, Good to see you and your teeth!

I suggested all of the Antilles. I don’t think we should take on anything else that is a major nation. We can do just a couple of little islands or an atoll in the Pacific. Growing up I didn’t know that an atoll was a unique formation of an island. I just thought they were a nuclear test targets. We have been so careless with mother earth.

Hey guys, a short nap and then back to work. The old girl has been in the emerald city all AM getting those allergy shots AND buying exotic things like garbage cans, rakes and etc.

  391. Foxwood says:

This has all been a set up for a one world government. The original problem with Freddie Mac and Fanny May was done on purpose to bring about financial collapse.

The grilling of Goldman Sacks is just a dog and pony show. GS is in on this. Look at all of the GS people in the Obutthole Administration.

Beck says there is 10 trillion dollars involved in this and GS is willing to take a hit just to get a piece of it. AlGore is in on this also, and lets not forget Soros, more than likely the string puller of Obutthole.

  392. samiam60 says:

Foxwood, being that I get my medical Scare from the VA hospital, you have got to know that I would never go to their Emergency Room in THAT condition.

    I would come out a he/she or worse, I wouldn’t come out.

  393. Foxwood says:

    “I would come out a he/she or worse, I wouldn’t come out.”

    I don’t know which would be worse…

  394. samiam60 says:

I could also make some money on the side.

Statehood for Puerto Rico (HR 2499)

With statehood of Puerto Rico, amnesty of “illegal” aliens, & voting rights of criminals and Washington DC (what’s the difference?), we will see Socialism/Communism for ours and our children’s lifetime.

I don’t expect we will win this one. They caught us with our pants down.

I fear we will have to fight this one as our Revolutionary Ancestors did.

    Pray for our country.

  409. samhenry says:

Sorry guys – I stepped out for dinner with friends.

Sami – loooooooooove the Doors and the song. I have a match here – where should i put it? Heh, heh, heh.

  410. Liberty says:

    Amen Blogwood brother.

Hang in there, with God it is a win win situation.

  412. Foxwood says:

I’m not defeated, but I am disappointed.

These guys want Socialism so bad that they will do whatever it takes, even against our will to push Socialism/Communism on us.

I believe we will be looking at a civil war.

  413. samhenry says:

And I’m still sitting here with a box of matches!

Morning FOX. Civil War would be what Obama wants. He would like nothing better to round up and imprison the entire right wing – extremists and conservatives.

Good morning when you get here Sami

And a shout out to VF – always – woof of compatico!
