Tea-party activists greet Obama with protest at Arcadia

With shouts of “Kill the bill!” and “Thank you, Mr. President!” demonstrators staked out their positions on health care legislation today outside the Arcadia University gymnasium where President Obama urged support for reform.

Tea-party activists who oppose the legislation outnumbered supporters of the president’s efforts with about 200 sign-wielding, slogan-shouting tea partiers attending a morning news conference before the president’s arrival.

“At stake for America is our future, our independence, and our liberty,” said Steve Lonegan, a former New Jersey gubernatorial candidate and the state director for Americans for Prosperity, a conservative public policy group.

Lonegan described the current health care reform proposal as the “cold fingers of government wrapping around the soul.”

The half-hour news conference organized by the Independence Hall Tea Party Association got off to a boisterous start when Cheltenham Township police tried to move the location for safety reasons.

When protestors shouted down the police with yells of “Free Speech” and organizer Don Adams assured police that the group would stay clear of passing traffic, authorities relented.

Demonstrators as young as 14-year-old Rachel Victor, of Cheltenham, were joined by seniors including Hugh Miller, 88, of East Norriton.

But by the time the president’s 20-plus-car motorcade arrived on campus, a contingent of pro-health care reform activists wielded its own sets of signs and slogans.

“But by the time the president’s 20-plus-car motorcade arrived on campus, a contingent of pro-health care reform activists wielded its own sets of signs and slogans.”

I think that is a skewed statement from the writer. I’m pro reform, but just not Regressive reform.

  2. Foxwood says:

Did you hear Glenn Beck and Michelle Malkin on Glenn’s radio show?

    Bet it makes lefty news.

  3. Foxwood says:

WOW! I’m gonna have to find that info. Did you know that if you wanted to move to Canada because they have better healthcare (yeah right!), that the US government will tax what you have made and what you will make by 50%? That was a law written by Charlie Rangel if in fact true.

  4. m2 says:

That thing with Beck and Malkin was aaaawwwwkwardzzz.

And then he blames his tude (coming back from break) on Rush! And was all, “I was just taking out my feelings on Michelle, she’s not part of te problem”.

Well God love Beck, BUT atost times he expects things to magically change. And he leaves me going “HOW?” How? Beck? How???

He can sit around and whine for ideological purity to combat Obammunism all day, but he only leaves me frustrated with how to attain his standards. I will say his collection of research and journalism is beyond compare in media. No one does that better than Beck! But if he’s gonna get his feelings hurt over Rush, I side with Rush!

Scott Brown is the best you can do in MA for chrissakes. And I’m okay with that! Over a Kennedy or Martha. You can’t eliminate Liberals or Liberalism even if the current crop in power are so bad they are Communists. There will always be liberals in our society. Not everyone is going to be a small government conservative Constitutionalist like Glenn wants, no matter if we have Obama now. (as an example of Beck’s rigidity)…

The irony was, Michelle was pointing out that Massa is a nut job Leftist, but Glenn was all “so?” Usually it’s Beck that is railing on anyone who has a history of not (his) ideological conservative purity.

  5. m2 says:

    Back to cleaning…

Love the tea party protesting Dear Leader…
    LOL …

  6. Foxwood says:

Found something on the taxation of citizens leaving the US.

  7. Foxwood says:

I don’t know that the article explains anything, really…

  8. Foxwood says:

I have to take a wait and see atitude to see what happens with Glenn and Rush.

  9. m2 says:

Fox, Glenn just wants intellectual honesty. He’s willing to give a life long leftist a pass because he felt Massa was being honest against Rahm/the administration. (And if there we more Massa’s, Glenn would hope they’d be so honest about their Socialist beliefs -that the people of America will vote those “honest” “open Leftists” out.) That’s his angle.

That purity of morality is hard to attain… In any human, I assume.

I see Beck as an idealist, an populist.

And Rush is a pragmatist, and realist.

  10. Foxwood says:

Yes, the stimulus slush fund package is working. Stupid… Stupak… whatever… looks to have changed his mind on abortion in thr Healthcare bill.

So if you can’t be bought off, they’ll find or make up something on you… Can you say Chicago?

  11. Foxwood says:

Beck has already called Massa out.

  12. Foxwood says:

I’ve not been in the navy, but I know guys who’ve been in the navy. I’ve heard tales.

I don’t know that I believe Massa, but he seems believable, so far.

  13. Foxwood says:

He wants to do this interview and one more then go away?

  14. Foxwood says:

He may not be telling the complete truth, but I believe there is some truth there. But the question is, what is true?

  15. Foxwood says:

Massa’s trying to change the direction of the talk. What’s he hiding?

  16. Foxwood says:

You can be a Conservative and a Progressive? BULLSHIT! F-ing BULLSHIT!

  17. Foxwood says:

    There you go…

  18. Foxwood says:

Sami! You stirred up more sh!t at CNN again. Hope you can log in.

  19. m2 says:

I didn’t watch Beck on Massa at 5 but you can be your buns Beck researched Massa so he didn’t sound as goofy as he sounde this morning biting off Malkin’s head over Massa’s record.

There’s a Big Government article where Massa tells a Leftist group that “even though he’s in a conservative red district, he would absolutely vote for the public option because he knows what’s best”…. And that’s what Malkin was talking about this morning. And Beck was like “you people” to her, because she was criticizing Massa and he believed Massa was “intellectually (ideologically) honest” because of how he talked about Rahm. My guess is Beck saw that Massa is self serving, like Michelle Malkin was pointing out- and is not “honest” although Beck was sticking up for him.

I’m glad Massa called a spade a spade. And also told everyone what we all know about Rahm Emanual, but he is self-serving like Blago. And he’s still a lying Socialist. As evidenced by his willingness to do to his constituents, what the administration is doing to the America people on the whole.

  20. samhenry says:

    Hi Fox and M2

Massa will be on Larry Kind Live tonight. He should know that even Michael Jackson had a show about him on Larry when he was dead, too.

I ned to get some things done around here. I’ll be back.

  22. Foxwood says:

    “Larry King Live”?

That’s his second and last interview? What a loser!

  23. Foxwood says:

We’re in for it people. I hope for the best, but I see the worst coming. I gotta get my barter system ready. Money won’t be worth sh!t. Look to scrap silver. It will be worth it’s value in monetary.

I guess the word out in the ‘sphere is that the Massa interview back-fired! I’m glad I didn’t watch it at 5pm. I don’t like those awkward situations.

    Good morning VF, Fox, sam!

Was it just in general or was it this particular post?

  38. m2 says:

Yes but Fox, don’t you see? He was knee-jerk reacting to Michelle when he said “you people” because Limbaugh was criticizing Massa on Monday.

And he felt Michelle was criticizing Massa at the time. Plus he’s not over some of the reactions by folk to his C-Pac speech. National Review was a bit critical… You see.

Anyway, Beck is getting to be a real Libertarian. All my Libertarian friends don’t vote because no one is up to their standards… Not even for Bob Green.

I love Beck, but I think the “you people” thing was a little too hot headed to be at his station in life which requires him to be a respectful role model…

JERUSALEM – In the midst of a high-profile visit by Vice President Joe Biden, Israel on Tuesday unveiled plans for new housing in disputed Jerusalem, a surprise step that embarrassed and angered the highest-ranking Obama administration official yet to visit the country.

Biden, who had come to promote new peace talks and to smooth the Obama administration’s strained relations with a longtime ally, instead denounced Israel’s plans to build 1,600 new housing units in East Jerusalem as a threat to the search for peace.
“I condemn the decision by the government of Israel to advance planning for new housing units in East Jerusalem,” Biden said, calling it “precisely the kind of step that undermines the trust we need right now.”

Lejeune water probe: Did Marine Corps hide benzene data?

WASHINGTON — Congressional investigators late Tuesday requested detailed documents from Navy Secretary Ray Mabus and a private contractor that was involved in the testing and cleanup of contaminated water at Camp Lejeune, N.C., over the past two decades.

More letters to the Environmental Protection Agency and a second private contractor are expected this week.

Among investigators’ questions: why a federal agency charged with understanding the health impacts of the contamination didn’t realize until recently that benzene — a fuel solvent known to cause cancer in humans — was among the substances found in drinking water at Camp Lejeune.

For years, the Marines apparently didn’t provide documents about the benzene to the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry, which has worked for nearly two decades to understand the contamination and its health impacts, said Rep. Brad Miller, D-N.C., the chairman of the oversight panel on the House Science and Technology Committee.

A Spokane man accused of assaulting his infant daughter pleaded not guilty to the charge Tuesday.

Daniel S. O’Brien, 23, was arrested Feb. 10 after he and his girlfriend, Jordan Calvert, brought their 2-month-old daughter, Tristan, to a Spokane hospital with bruises and fractured bones, including a broken rib and fractured skull.

O’Brien reportedly admitted to causing the girl’s injuries and said he had mental problems that caused him to black out when angry.

He told police he’d sought mental health services but couldn’t pay because he didn’t have insurance, according to court documents.

O’Brien is in Spokane County Jail on $50,000 bail for one count of first-degree assault of a child. His next court date is in April.

    http://www.poconorecord.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20100310/NEWS04/3100308/-1/NEWSMAP

We need representatives who are not afraid to reduce the cost of government programs and will concentrate on job creation.

Fact: United Kingdom and Europe are actually voting out their out-of-control spending socialist governments. They are fed up with deteriorating health care systems too costly for their governments to support without more tax increases. Reporters frequently challenge health care officials with exposés of deplorable conditions and poor treatment in hospitals because beaurocratic-run health care institutions are forced to keep costs down as dictated by appointed government officials.

Citizens of these socialist countries must endure continued lowering of their standard of living with socialist programs embedded into their lives. They, unlike us, are already impacted with “cap and trade” taxes brought about by “global warming” fanatics.

Our president wants cap and trade — who cares if it’s not true. Use any reason to impose more taxes and control on our lives. Americans have no idea of the exorbitant tax cost of “energy” inflicted on U.K. and European residents. We’re next.

President Obama said he would be happy with only one term to accomplish his goals. Does it mean he intends to quickly implode our lives with socialist programs? Pelosi and Reid alike have no need for another term in office. They are determined to “go out in health care glory” at our expense. Also, once they leave office, they will be rewarded with handsome fees doing the talk show circuit at universities, writing books, etc., knowing they still have the Golden Fleece coverage as ex-government employees.

As for the Obamas, in addition to the above, I bet they retire to Hawaii. I do not begrudge their good fortunes but I do not want them to hit and run, after leaving us with programs of destruction to our lives.

Health and Life Insurers Grapple With Climate Effects
    By EVAN LEHMANN of ClimateWire
    Published: March 10, 2010

Biting bugs are buzzing northward and asthma has spread like a dust cloud, but there are deep divisions about how concerned health and life insurers should be about disease and death caused by climate change.
So far, this corner of the massive industry has remained in the background of its climate debate, letting its counterparts who specialize in property losses worry in public forums about potential risks from rising sea levels and more powerful storms.

But there can be storms inside the human body, as well, scientists say, pointing to increases in malaria, heat waves, lung illnesses and other diseases spread by insects that are expanding into new territory as temperate climates experience warmer winters that are less likely to kill them.

I like this. “Biodiversity is the living capital of the planet”

Should We Put A Dollar Value On Nature?
By Judith D. Schwartz Saturday, Mar. 06, 2010

Nature lovers might cringe at the term “ecosystem services” to describe, say, the view of a pristine beach or a stream teeming with trout. But a growing number of experts within the scientific and economic communities say that putting real economic value on components of nature will help protect the environment and promote biodiversity.

Far from cheapening nature, thinking in terms of “natural capital” can offer a way to assess the crucial but unmeasured benefit that humans derive from the nature. Ascertaining that value can then help decision makers bring environmental factors more explicitly into their planning.
(See the top 10 green ideas of 2009.)

Can biodiversity loss, then, be seen as a failure of the market? “Biodiversity is the living capital of the planet,” says Pavan Sukhdev, a senior banker with Deutsche Bank and Special Adviser to the United Nations Environment Programme’s (UNEP) Green Economy Initiative. Like any capital, he says, it has to be measured to be managed. “If you don’t count half of your balance sheet, you’re going to get your profit and loss ratio incorrect — and we have.”

A new study shows that people are more likely to cheat and steal after buying green products.

There have probably been environmental hypocrites ever since the first caveman professed his love of wildlife right before going out and slaughtering giant herds of megafauna, but it’s never been clear exactly what underlies the hypocrisy. Sure, it’s easier to say than to do (to laud walking and carpooling but drive an SUV), and we’re all good at exceptionalism (everyone else should cut back on jet travel, but it’s really important that I take my private jet to the meeting on climate change). Still, hypocrisy is so rife, there surely has to be more to it.

In the case of environmental hypocrisy, that “more” may be the virtuous glow we get from doing one little green thing: it casts an outsize moral halo. That is, we feel so righteous when we buy organic food or a compact fluorescent bulb or a Prius that our internal moral cup runneth over. According to this model, which is called compensatory ethics (see the PDF of the first paper on this Web site), people have an inner sense of how morally virtuous they need to feel to support their self-image. If a few actions (including espousing actions for other people) are enough to justify how we like to think of ourselves, then we do not need to perform any additional virtuous actions. It’s as if we accumulate moral points for ethical actions, and having accumulated “enough” we are free to act amorally, or even immorally. That’s why reminding people of what wonderful humanitarians they are causes them to give less to charity.

Should We Put A Dollar Value On Nature?
By Judith D. Schwartz Saturday, Mar. 06, 2010

Nature lovers might cringe at the term “ecosystem services” to describe, say, the view of a pristine beach or a stream teeming with trout. But a growing number of experts Socialists who have infiltrated the scientific and economic communities say that putting real economic value on components of nature will help protect use the environment and to impose Socialism under the guise of promot(ing) biodiversity.”

It is typical enviro-justice-mumbo-Fing-jumbo to further the infiltration of Socialism/Communism in the US. And the Hypocrisy is… the Socialist/Communists could give a fig less about the environment… it is, instead, a means to and end… World Domination and the US stands in their way.

    March 10, 2010 in City
    Panel OKs feedlot privacy
    Ranchers want inspection data confidential
    Simmi Aujla Associated Press

BOISE – The Idaho cattle industry is raising a stink in hopes of restricting public access to the state’s oversight of feedlot manure operations.

The Senate Agricultural Affairs Committee voted 6-2 Tuesday to bar public access to the reports done once or twice a year by the Department of Agriculture on beef cattle feedlots. The Idaho Cattle Association had lobbied to make the routine feedlot inspection reports confidential.

Ranchers rely on the feedlots to fatten cattle before sending them off to slaughter. The operations, most of which are located in the southern part of the state, produce tons of manure each year – a cause for concern for nearby residents and environmentalists.

Conservationists say livestock waste poses a risk because it could leach into groundwater, streams or irrigation canals and increase the levels of bacteria, nitrates and ammonia.

Cattle industry officials contend the industry is highly regulated and closely monitored by the state and that their effort to make the reports confidential is less about keeping secrets from watchdogs than sharing information that could give other operators a competitive advantage.

Rick Stott, who works for Agri Beef Co., a Boise company that manages feedlots, said details in reports – from a cattle head count to manure volumes and how manure is being managed or sold – could be used to give competitors an edge.

“If you want to offend a rancher, ask him how many cows he has,” he told lawmakers. “It’s like asking you, ‘How much do you have in your bank account?’ ”

The only two opposing votes came from Democrats, who argued the industry’s competitive edge claim didn’t pass their sniff test.

“With some of the things you describe, I don’t see how they change the marketplace so that a producer is advantaged by having that information,” Sen. Les Bock, D-Boise, said.

The measure now goes to the full Senate.

there is something called ‘Company Confidential’

These Government Loving Socialists don’t trust
that the operations are closely monitored by the State now gives Socialists reason to doubt the all mighty Government and instead do their own sniffing of the cow manure? sounds kinky. too bad for the poop fetishistic Socialists tee-hee

Let them sniff-test their own Socialist Droppings

  82. rosehips says:

VF, unfortunately for industry the production of toxic substances or pollution emitting byproducts is by law reportable. Just like the marines are required to report benzene in the water at Camp LeJuene, ranchers should report the amount of manure their cows produce.

This info is available for all to see on the Toxic Registry Index that the EPA posts every year. I have referred to it for data about polluters in the US. It is a freedom I enjoy and cherish. To be informed is a powerful thing and something we all should advocate for.

  83. rosehips says:

Company Confidential does not preclude businesses from being required to report their discharges and how they treat and dispose of toxic waste.

  84. Foxwood says:

Looks like the states need to do their duty and regulate. That’s their job.

BTW, Michele is back on and Glenn admitted to her he was wrong.

  85. rosehips says:

I’m not saying that ranchers are required to report manure to the EPA, although perhaps they should.

  86. Foxwood says:

The EPA is a unConstitutional executive agency. The power belongs to the state to regulate according to the law, the Constitution.

  87. Foxwood says:

Talk about using Healthcare to control the people!

“We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it.” Uh-huh. FOX Nation and The Corner reported: You’ve heard about the controversies within the bill, the process about the bill, one or the other. But I don’t know if you have heard that it is legislation for the future, not just about health care for America, but about a healthier America, where preventive care is not something that you have to pay a deductible for or out of pocket. Prevention, prevention, prevention—it’s about diet, not diabetes. It’s going to be very, very exciting.”

So in other words, Regressives will regulate what you can eat and when you can eat it. More that likely when to exercise also. 1984 anyone?
