Tea Party Voters now shift gaze on PA-12 Dist House Seat vacated by Murtha (D-PA)

This is the Year of the Tea Party Voters taking Back our Country

Democrat John Murtha’s passing yesterday marked an end to his control of  Pennsylvania’s  12th District House Seat held since 1974. This district is conservative leaning and favored McCain-Palin over Obama-Biden in the 2008 Presidential Election by a slim margin.

It is now time to start looking at PA-12 District Special Election conservative candidates, an election likely to be held on May 18, 2010; a date already set aside for Congressional Primary elections in Pennsylvania.

Obama-Pelosi-Reid will no doubt be focused as well as the DNC on this race as a loss to a GOP candidate would boost the record to 4 losses/0 wins for the Progressives starting with the NJ and VA governor elections in 2009 and the loss of a Massachusetts Senate seat to Scott Brown (R-MA).

People are fed the hell up with the Progressives’ record of behavior and Tea Party Voters have it in for the incumbent Progressive Majority.

Obama continues to fall in the Job Approval Polls and his ploy to shift blame for the failure of passage of the Socialized Medicine ObamaCare bill will surely fail to launch.

People understand ObamaCare enough to know it is an economy killer during a 9.7 unemployment crippling economic situation and economically unhealthy in any event.

The GOP Minority in Congress is not going to accept piece meal changes to the fatally flawed DEM designed Health Care Bills from the House and Senate;  “that dog don’t hunt.” ObamaCare will have to be scrapped totally and a truly bipartisan bill will have to be written from the ground up. And… “that dog don’t hunt” for the Progressives in Congress.

RIP Murtha, Conservatives will put the PA-12 Seat to good use.

    Morning GREAT CAT

My comments such as they are now post.

When is the PA special election?

I think these Dems are dying from some kind of curse that goes along with Health Insurance reform.

  2. samhenry says:

Like you, VF, I am also helping to unseat Patrick Kennedy. I feel for his medical condition and I recognize his ability to bring home to RI wonderful programs. But with the degree of corruption in the state, it is really unclear who is truly bringing these things “home.”

  13. samhenry says:

Sorry I missed that V. I lived in PA for about 15 years; my parents for 35. It killed mother, LOL. Actually, when they lived in Center City, the air pollution was so bad, the parents always had coughs and sore throats. They had to move to the Main Line. A good friend who moved to Center City from the Main Line ended up dying of cancer. So you see Rose, we do have some measurable effect on the atmosphere and marble statues that melt; people who die.

  14. samhenry says:

I will tell you, the Kennedy’s, except for poor Rose, came from a bootlegger. He was a criminal straight up. They were pals of old mayor Curly. They are part of the Irish mafia. And when they loose via a democratic process, they don’t just call out the candidate; they dump all over their constituents.

  15. VotingFemale says:

actual air pollution can and must be minimized as it kills voters and workers.

CO2 is not an air pollutant, however… without it everything on the planet would die.

  16. samhenry says:

I saw at Legal I where you promised to work with your pal Bill. Good deal. And I promised to work with him on the blog, too.

    Did 152 skidoo?

  17. samhenry says:

CAT – I’m just talking about particulate matter. I took enough biology (high school and college) to appreciate that CO2 is good for you.

I would have majored in biology – I loved it – but my math skills would have stopped me at the door too Chemistry.

  18. Foxwood says:

“CO2 is not an air pollutant, however… without it everything on the planet would die.”

    NOOOOOOOOO!!!

  33. samhenry says:

Hi there M2. Good to see you. I’ve missed the articles you reference – good resources – as well as your enthusiasm for Demon Dem bashing lol

  34. samhenry says:

Upstairs M2? You mean to sit on a cloud bank? VF knows that “upstairs” is what pilots call flying in the sky. “Gone west” is what they say when a pilot dies.

  35. rosehips says:

haha I am never very far away! But sometimes I do have life to attend to, ya know?

In fact I will be scarce on the blog this week during the day but don’t get too excited foxy, I will still be here in the am.

and about that CO2. We have had this discussion before and VF you admitted to me that it is true that too much of almost anything can be harmful. I believe CO2 would qualify. Without doing any research I would bet that if I were to fill my home with CO2, it would not be a good idea to stay inside. agree?

as far as the election for Murtha’s seat? oh boy. Butler County is conservative. I think Murtha appealed to them because he was a hawk, he prolly was a great advocate for industry and workers, and he was also a crook.
But I do not want to disparage him so soon after his death. I think he was a no nonsense guy and he was not afraid to speak out against travesty albeit not his own. haha

  36. rosehips says:

    hey m2!

m2’s computer is in the basement so when she goes upstairs it means she is outta here for a bit.

  37. Foxwood says:

Speaking of pilots that died. I watched one on
TV called “Joe the Plumber Flushes the Turd!”

    The FCC canceled it…

  38. rosehips says:

when I go “upstairs” it has a different meaning. (wink, wink)

okay, so most of the time it’s only to sleep. but we all gotta sleep sometime, right? haha

  39. Foxwood says:

    CO2…

    wah wah wah!

  40. samhenry says:

    Rose

Hover like a tag cloud will you?

We are like bookends for FOX.

  41. rosehips says:

foxy, double dog dare you to set off all your fire extinguishers and give us a play by play about how you feel. hehehe

  42. rosehips says:

I saw the “pilot” for the proposed show “Joe the Turd Flushes His Plumber”

    it the sh!ts

  43. Foxwood says:

    Wont make a diff Rose.
    my plants like it…

  44. Foxwood says:

You could stop breathing and see how you feel…

  45. Foxwood says:

    That was funny! 🙂

  46. VotingFemale says:

IF what the Socialist Global Warming Hoaxsters was selling was absolutely true and verifiable, there would be no need to turn over the world to a Socialist New World Order…

Conservatives would be running the show in an Economically Sound way to get done the job of shifting energy sources. It will happen anyway in the long run… and not in a panic mode benefiting power and money grubbing Socialist Tyrants at the expense of US Wealth and Sovereignty.

The Socialist/Progressive Con Job is Over; put a fork in it.

  47. rosehips says:

okay, foxy. let’s have a contest. Hold your breath and tell me how long you lasted….I’ll try to beat it. haha

I actually once was in a contest like that with a boy. haha It was at a church picnic and we were young and there was only two of us and they needed to come up with a contest. It was some teenagers from our church. So this one guy takes me and this other kid to the kiddy pool to see who could stay under water the longest. My competitive side took over and the kid practically had to pull me up out of the water when I refused to come up after I won. God, I’m stubborn….

go ahead foxy, after you. 😉

  48. Foxwood says:

I’ll hold my breath, but at the same time you have to inhale all 10 of my fire extinguishers.

    Deal?

  49. m2 says:

    I’m back downstairs!

I must confess, I haven’t been up on the topics of discussion because I haven’t had time to read through all the comments!

  50. Foxwood says:

I wonder, Rosey, what people think that read our comments…

    🙂

  51. m2 says:

That is the crux of the entire “argument” VF… well said!

VF says: It will happen anyway in the long run… and not in a panic mode benefiting power and money grubbing Socialist Tyrants at he expense of US Sovereignty.

  52. Foxwood says:

It’s typical, M2. Rosey and myself are spatting…

    🙂

  53. rosehips says:

foxy, do you think anyone else but us bothers to read them?

  54. Foxwood says:

    As the Stomach Turns…

  55. m2 says:

I don’t know about you people, but I am ready for another vacation.

  56. m2 says:

something like Hawaii would be ideal.

  57. Foxwood says:

    I think we’re a riot, Rosey!

  58. Foxwood says:

Too Humid… UI live in humidity…

  59. rosehips says:

yes, very well said VF. Although the part about conservatives getting the job done in an economically sound way sounds a little “pie-in-the-skyish” to me. I would be the first to applaud it.

VF said: IF what the Socialist Global Warming Hoaxsters was selling was absolutely true and verifiable, there would be no need to turn over the world to a Socialist New World Order…

Conservatives would be running the show in an Economically Sound way to get done the job of shifting energy sources. It will happen anyway in the long run… and not in a panic mode benefiting power and money grubbing Socialist Tyrants at he expense of US Sovereignty.

  60. rosehips says:

foxy, as long as we think we are funny and we enjoy ourselves, everything else is gravy. 🙂

  61. Foxwood says:

    I said the same think…

    I’m just bitchy when I say it…

  62. Foxwood says:

Warm would be nice tho, M2…

  63. m2 says:

Hawaii? Humid? NAH!! Florida is humid. HA is 80, hot, and sunny. PERFECT.
    Maui.

I told my husband, I’d be a nail tech for the tourists just so I could live in Maui. Ha ha ha…

    Fox said: Too Humid…

  64. m2 says:

I’d be a janitor, if I could live in Maui. Ha!!

  65. rosehips says:

I really don’t know if human impacted climate change can be verified. It apparently has proved to be a challenge to some scientists who in their efforts to make their studies fit into their neat little boxes, they fudged data and discredited themselves. This is unfortunate.

All I really contend is that humans impact climate. I don’t rely on perfect science to believe this. It’s in my gut. Just like your gut tells you it’s all a big lie, foxy.

I believe most of climate change is part of a natural cycle. I really don’t know if there is anything we can do to slow the change down. I do know that whacky things are happening. There may be 4 ft of snow back east, but we have had the least snow since 1994! It’s frickin’ Springtime here and the Olympics are upon us. Bummer!
Speaking of the Olympics, all the medals were made by Teck Resources, the company that dumped tons and tons of slag and other contaminants in the Columbia River. It’s ironic that the medals for the first time are made from partly recycled medals that come from ewaste. Horray for Teck. Now clean up your f0ckin mess!

  66. rosehips says:

m2, oh but you disparage janitors. that may not seem as bad as the mentally challenged, but I’d like to hear you say that at a “Janitors for Justice” conference. hehehe 😉

ps not a big fan of maui but that may be because of how sick i was when there. the hana side is quite nice but I did not like the tourist end of maui at all.

  67. m2 says:

I don’t think we cause any “climate change”.

I think we just pollute with STUFF. And the worst offender is Communist China. Look at everything they make is TOXIC. Chinese drywall to purses to jewelry.

    Screw those Commie polluters.

  68. m2 says:

Hey I’m not disparaging Janitors! Some people probably like to throw the powder on kid vomit and clean toilets!

I’m just saying I’d throw away my art degree if I had to make a living… living in Maui!

  69. Foxwood says:

I believe we pollute and should stop it. I just don’t see CO2 as pollution. Grow more plants if you think it’s a problem. I like plants.

  70. VotingFemale says:

well? you are a liberal lol

Economic soundness and success is the capitalist conservative way. Why destroy an economy unless you are a Socialist/Progressive/Marxist? Any excuse will be used by them… any lie said, any con job pulled.

And the majority of American Voters are smart… not dumb.

We did not get to be the most powerful, richest nation in the history of humankind by accident.

Those who despise America can go shovel sh!t on a different corner of the globe.

    rosehips says

yes, very well said VF. Although the part about conservatives getting the job done in an economically sound way sounds a little “pie-in-the-skyish” to me. I would be the first to applaud it.

  71. rosehips says:

i know what you meant m2. I had a friend who was a radio nut. He would volunteer many hours at the station and subsidize his passion by being a janitor. If I had to clean up vomit and sh!t all night, I’d have to become a zen master and turn the job into my passion. or something.

Incidently, my friend was the station mgr at Univ of Idaho in Moscow when gov Palin attended there. He has only found one person he knows who thinks he might remember her. One guy said he may have partnered up with her for some class activity. Strange how she wasn’t well known, but I guess it depended on what circles you kept to.

  72. m2 says:

I’ll never apologize for the wonderful term Libtard. If they want to use Teabagger which disparages the good gay population’s past-time, then they are Libtards.

    I’m the Simpson/Southpark generation.

That Rahm called his own people retarded is hilarious. Why cant those left-wingers just see that they will get the “single payer” UGH! We just have to do it in the cover of darkness, and in secret!!

  73. rosehips says:

I liked everything you said up until the part about those who “despise” America. That is where I guess we disagree. I don’t believe many Americans really despise their country. I think most of us love it even if we love to criticize it. Do you love your country or your gov’t? I have never had a big love affair with our gov’t but does that make me love my country any less? hell no. I would not be an advocate for the environment if I didn’t.

I know you don’t mean me VF, but I also don’t think Obama hates America either. maybe rahm does though, I dunno.

  74. m2 says:

    don’t be a libtard, rose!!!

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha…
Well, better go check on the kid!!

  75. rosehips says:

lol m2. I think hetero couples can engage in teabagging as well.

  76. rosehips says:

yeah, you better scoot girl cuz i’m about to call you out! lol

  77. Foxwood says:

I believe in more trees. They are a great natural resource and just love CO2.

  78. VotingFemale says:

fossil fuel consumption is but an evolutionary stepping stone for human kind. It is finite in supply.

My vision of future mobile fuel is hydrogen produced electricity. It will happen. You can go here to see that development for a Hydrogen Economy marches on. We can and will do it.

    Later everyone!

  80. VotingFemale says:

I know you don’t despise America, Rose, so I was not including you in that.

Whether Obama despises America is of no real consequence in all but the next 2 years and 9 months …until he is voted out of office.

If he were truly intelligent he would be a conservative. His is a fool’s errand.

    rosehips says

unfortunately I will be gone for an hour or so… errand time.

    hugs, Rose…

  82. Foxwood says:

Does that mean me and Rose can start up again!?

  83. samiam60 says:

I believe that there are many well meaning Liberals in this Country, and that they truly love America. Sadly what they don’t realize is that their ideology is hurting America. Unfortunately pride goes before the fall and so it is for that very reason you rarely see a Liberal admit that they may have been wrong. A strong sense of pride is what you find in a liberal and it is their own undoing.

You will find humility in a Conservative and a willingness to look at both sides of an issue. A Conservative can and will admit they are wrong when so proven. We don’t step on the gas we hit the brakes.

  84. Foxwood says:

“A strong sense of pride is what you find in a liberal and it is their own undoing.”

Who are we talking about, Sami?

  85. samiam60 says:

Foxy, That is a generalized statement. I am not implying that Rosehips is Proud. Stubborn YES!

She is so much like us I sometimes forget she is a liberal.

  86. Foxwood says:

  87. Foxwood says:

    Lots of truth here!

If a conservative doesn’t like guns, he doesn`t buy one.
If a liberal doesn’t like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.

If a conservative is a vegetarian, he doesn`t eat meat.
If a liberal is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.

If a conservative is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.
If a liberal is homosexual, he demands legislated respect.

If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
A liberal wonders who is going to take care of him.

If a conservative doesn’t like a talk show host, he switches channels.
Liberals demand that those they don’t like be shut down.

If a conservative is a non-believer, he doesn’t go to church.
A liberal non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced.
(Unless it’s a foreign religion, of course!)

If a conservative decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.
A liberal demands that the rest of us pay for his.

If a conservative reads this, he’ll forward it so his friends can have a good laugh.
A liberal will delete it because he’s “offended”.

2/8: Obama Approval Rating Below 50% … Disapproval Among Majority of Independents

February 8, 2010 by Marist Poll

Fewer registered voters nationwide — 44% — currently approve of President Barack Obama’s job performance than disapprove — 47%. When Marist last asked about the president’s approval rating in December, 46% thought well of Obama’s job performance while 44% gave him low marks.

Perhaps, particularly concerning for Mr. Obama is the drop in support among Independents. For the first time since taking office, a majority of Independents — 57% — disapproves of how he is doing in the role. 29% approve, and 14% are unsure.

Not surprisingly, Democrats and Republicans are polarized. 81% of Democrats approve of the president’s job performance while a similar proportion of Republicans — 80% — disapproves.

“If attracting Independents and bipartisanship are the aim, then the president clearly has a lot of ground to cover in year two,” says Dr. Lee M. Miringoff, Director of The Marist Institute for Public Opinion.

  178. rosehips says:

foxy, but you just don’t learn from history, albeit the history never taught in public schools. Back in the 60’s, the gov’t distributed large quantity of hallucinogenic drugs on college campuses and at love-ins. Their strategy was to distract youth and make them politically apathetic. Brilliant!

if you get a party pissed, you will mobilize them. Look what is happening now?

  182. rosehips says:

    m2, so it’s A-ok to call y’all teabaggers? haha

  183. m2 says:

As I heard it from the O’ great History Channel, it was army that tested LSD, and the libtards that created it, went hog wild on it, and then distributed it and sold it to their own. I thought LSD was a BIG part of the hippie movement and it was very much accepted and the crux of the movement?

  184. m2 says:

    Well I won’t call you a libtard rose, because you aren’t. 🙂

My brother calls me “ho” with affection. Ahhh hilarious.

  185. Foxwood says:

Getting p!ssed and doing something about it are two different things, Rosey. Libs are inherently lazy bums.

  186. m2 says:

ps, I was only using it now in abundance because you seem to genuinely get irked by it. But I’ll stop, if you like.

  187. Foxwood says:

    So you don’t forget again…

“Teabagger” implies that there is a “Teabaggie”.

  188. rosehips says:

yes m2, the army tested it and I really only heard stories and don’t know to what extent and why. I did know a guy once who was given lsd in a hospital when he was young. I don’t remember the details, but I was a bit outraged when I heard his story.

  189. m2 says:

I’ve never really objected to the “teabaggers” because it’s pretty obvious that when 90% of the media promotes name calling based on petty liberal bias, that they are in the wrong. Just think if 90% of the media did that to Liberals. Oh good laaaawwwrrd. The ranting and raving we’d hear. Conservatives just don’t care, because we have principles.

I only think it’s funny when conservatives use tea-baggers just from hearing it so much in the media.

RH says: m2, so it’s A-ok to call y’all teabaggers? haha

  190. m2 says:

Yes they did, but these people were volunteered. Just like many drugs have been tested by volunteers. It was actually liberal-minded “hippies” that got hooked on it. It wasn’t force fed to them by some agent in black from the federal gov’t…

  191. m2 says:

Some of the funniest comments, Rose and Fox, that I have seen on like BigGovernment.com have been people going… I got some “bags” ready for Obama, -after the MA election specifically.

    Ah CREATIVITY and INNOVATION.

  192. rosehips says:

m2, nah don’t stop on my account. It really never bothered me. I am only making it an issue because the governor did.

and of course I called you a con-tard in jest. I am not trying to imply that you are slow. That is far from the truth, unless we are talking 100 yard dash. You might not win any races (I’m only guessing here) but you could smoke most peeps in a debate and drop jaws with your knowledge of the Fabian society.

  193. VotingFemale says:

    Good Morning Rosehips!

The Obama won for only one reason… he ran as the UNBUSH. What is going on now is America fully understands there are things far worse that BUSH, lol

The next president will be swept in as the UNOBAMA,

If the DEMs could not pass any Progressive Economy Destroying Agenda legislation, it was not because of the Congressional minority… it was due to infighting within the DEM congressional caucus. That America has condemned the DEM Congressional majority for their end justifies their means behaviors, it again is the fault of the Arrogant Elitist Progressives. Attacking a majority of American voters personally will be repaid in spades in the mid-terms… the moderate DEMS will hit the ground the hardest for selling out their moderate/centrist constitutants back home. Those townhalls in 2009 will haunt them for eternity. Those were not astro-turfers and not crazed extremists who flocked to the townhalls demanding a voice be heard by their elected representatives and senators… they are representative of the majority of American Voters.

    Payback will be delicious…

The president and the DEM majority congress are already living on the Green Mile… their removal is scheduled and no governor can stay their removal. They have done more for Conservatism than even Reagan himself did.

and the ‘libtard’ thang? just a jab to further enrage the libtards into further postal behavior, lol! GO LIBTARDS GO! hahahaha

That and I’d rather see a few words on Obama’s hand than 2 teleprompters in front of a 6th grade class. (In regards to confidence of ability.)

    rosehips said:
well if its the governor, I suggest she get a teleprompter. Crib sheets on the hands is soooo provincial. hahaha

m2, I see your point about the innoculous statements. Yes it does seem 152 was trying to lure peeps to her blog. I guess it worked to a certain degree.

I did find her blog compelling. She is a good writer at the very least. I am curious to know if she is a former ireporter that we knew.

  206. m2 says:

I asked VF, and I think we can confirm she is not a one of the ones we know to have been active in their hot-headed hate of VF… funny, how the defensive reaction of the Obama-lovers all seems the same!

I thought her blog was a joke. There was no substance.

  207. m2 says:

perhaps it was written well… though. Ha ha ha…

    Oh Lindsey!

  208. VotingFemale says:

I agree, M2, I have a lot of respect for Rosehips… she has earned it… we are friends in spite of differences of political opinions, for many good reasons. And, I respect her debating skills.

There has to be a Ying and Yang to all this to keep each side honest.

When there is an unbalance, as is the case presently, the forces to drive back to balance grows proportionally to the degree of unbalance… and back to the right the pendulum is swinging… harder and more forcefully because of the radical Progressive agendas that have been unmasked. The Progressives’ Mao/Che/Fidel/Chevez hugging is so self-destructive I am almost embarrassed for them… America will never be ready to adopt communism. Progressive dumb asses, the lot.

The word Progressive has now become the epitome of a Pariah. The Progressives will no doubt toss that Branding for another title… can’t wait to see what they pick next! lol

  209. rosehips says:

m2, at first I thought the writing on her hand was sort of endearing. Who hasn’t done that at some point? But it does beg the question why she would need it. She should be able to answer a question extemporaneously. But being prepared is not a bad thing. I thought it looked strange though when she looked down at her hand to read the notes. I bet she won’t do that again.

And criticisms about Obama’s use of a teleprompter are misguided, imo. He has already proven that he can speak eloquently and can speak off the top of his head. Anyone who argues that hasn’t seen him speak w/o a teleprompter or is just in denial.

  210. rosehips says:

VF, you know I love you too.

Just yesterday I was saying that I have the governor’s book on reserve since early Dec and it’s still not available. My library has 5 copies. Someone responded with “why would you want to read that?”
A woman next to me told me she read it. I could tell she was a supporter. I told her all the reasons I admired and indentified with the governor. I felt it broke some ice and I think the person who disparaged SP got a new understanding of the respect the governor commands from her many fans.

VF said: I agree, M2, I have a lot of respect for Rosehips… she has earned it… we are friends in spite of differences of political opinions, for many good reasons. And, I respect her debating skills.

    Case in point: Robert Gibbs.

okay peeps. The thermometer police will be by later to pick up your mercury-laden weather indicators….lol

maybe they should get the census workers to collect mercury themometers? Wouldn’t that be an efficient way to dispose of all that mercury properly? ah, never mind. those workers have to deal with enough contamination….the minds of middle America. hahaha

    Mercury on the Loose
Massachusetts is doing a poor job getting the dangerous chemical out of circulation.

    Thursday, February 11, 2010
    By Maureen Turner

In 2006, Massachusetts legislators passed a law that prohibited the sale of thermostats that contain mercury. They weren’t alone; over the past decade, 15 states have passed similar laws, in response to increasing concerns about the serious public health risks posed by mercury.

The laws had a measurable effect. According to a new report by a coalition of environmental protection groups, the use of mercury by the largest thermostat manufacturers dropped a dramatic 73 percent between 2001 and 2007 as the companies shifted to alternative products that could be sold in those states that now banned their mercury-based products. (And the drop in mercury use wasn’t limited to thermostats, the report notes; over that same period, manufacturers’ use of mercury—which can show up in products ranging from lamps and batteries to dental amalgam—dropped by 46 percent overall.)

But while those state laws have prompted impressive reductions in the manufacturing use of mercury, another daunting problem remains: what about the mercury thermostats that are still in use in millions of homes, businesses, schools and other buildings across the U.S.?

That includes, ironically, the thermostat hanging in the Boston office of Clean Water Action, one of the groups behind the new report. The thermostat (which was hung by the building’s owner) works, noted Elizabeth Saunders, Clean Water Action’s environmental health legislative director.

House OKs resolution doubting climate change
Amendment » A non-binding statement passed after lawmakers deleted charges of a “conspiracy” on climate data.
    By Robert Gehrke

    The Salt Lake Tribune

    Updated: 02/09/2010 05:04:17 PM MST

The House adopted a sternly worded resolution declaring the body’s deep skepticism over current climate science and called for the federal government to halt carbon dioxide reduction programs.

Rep. Kerry Gibson said that by pursuing cap-and-trade policies, Washington is engaging on a path that could destroy Utah’s way of life.

“I’m afraid of what could happen to our economy, to our rural life, to our agriculture, if such a detrimental policy continues to be pursued for political reasons,” said the Ogden Republican.

He said there is mounting evidence that humans can’t influence their environment and the costs of enacting climate change policies could be staggering.

The House resolution is nonbinding and has no legal impact beyond expressing the sentiment of the Legislature. It passed the body by a 56-17 vote and now goes to the Senate.

The resolution was amended to tone down some of the incendiary language, specifically deleting references to a “climate data conspiracy” and a climate change “gravy train.”

Rep. John Mathis, R-Vernal, said that as strongly as he feels about the resolution, “we should elevate our discussion above where a lot of people have taken it.”

Rep. Mike Noel, R-Kanab, staged a defense of carbon dioxide, saying it is an odorless gas that is “essentially harmless to human beings” that is unrelated to air pollution and can actually encourage plant growth.

House Minority Leader David Litvack, D-Salt Lake City, said he is concerned the resolution goes too far and attacks science, and quoted a letter from several Brigham Young University scientists that argued against the resolution.

Gibson said he respects the BYU scientists. “I also respect the words of the scientists who are mounting on the other side of the issue, who in large part we have not heard,” he said, because their viewpoints have been “hidden.”

  225. m2 says:

Almost daily, we learn about new problems with the formerly respected UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC): In their 2001 report, they claimed that the 20th century was “unusual” and blamed it on human-released greenhouse gases. Their infamous temperature graph shown there, shaped like a hockey stick, did away with the well-established Medieval Warm Period (around 1000AD, when Vikings were able to settle in Southern Greenland and grow crops there) and the following Little Ice Age (around 1400 to 1800AD). Two Canadians exposed the bad data used by the IPCC and the statistical errors in their analysis.

The most recent IPCC report of 2007 predicted the disappearance of the Himalayan glaciers within 25 years; the imminent death of nearly half the Amazon rain forest; and major damage from stronger hurricanes — all in contradiction to expert opinions offered by its appointed reviewers, but ignored by IPCC editors for mostly ideological reasons. More scandalous even, the IPCC based their lurid predictions on anecdotal, non-peer-reviewed sources — not at all in accord with its solemnly announced principles and scientific standards.

These events showed not only a general sloppiness of IPCC procedures but also an extreme bias — quite inappropriate to a supposedly impartial scientific survey. By themselves, they do not invalidate the basic IPCC conclusion — that a warming in the latter half of the 20th century was human-caused, presumably by the rise of greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide. Yet all of these missteps pale in comparison to ClimateGate, which calls into question the very temperature data used by the IPCC’s main policy result.

As the leaked e-mails from the University of East Anglia (UK) reveal, this IPCC conclusion — that Global Warming is anthropogenic — is based on manipulated data and therefore flawed — as are demands for the control of CO2 emissions, like the Kyoto Protocol and the Copenhagen Accord. In my opinion, ClimateGate is a much more serious issue than simply sloppiness and ideological distortion; ClimateGate suggests conspiracy to commit fraud.

The NRC at the University of East Anglia will not show their data.

I wonder why? Maybe it’s falsified?
