Obama to Senate DEMs: Baby come back, I can’t live without you

Obama Pride is on the cutting room floor.

So… what is a fallen Man-God to do?

First host a retreat with Congressional Republicans then a retreat with Senate DEMs.

This president would not grovel before mere congressmen of both parties unless the hand-writing on the Obama Legacy Wall did not show… ObamaCare is Dead Dead Dead on Arrival.

Ahhh… but what about the Pelosi/Reid secret weapon? Senate Reconciliation to “fix” the fatally flawed Senate version of ObamaCare now gathering dust in the House?

For every weapon there is a counter weapon… the GOP has the means via a Reconciliation loophole that allows the GOP an endless amendment making Gerbil Running Wheel, to keep a final Reconciliation Vote from ever seeing the light of day.

This is the final nail in the Socialized Medicine Coffin and a road block of the promise by Pelosi and Reid to House DEMs that they need not worry about passing a Senate Version they disapprove of.

Couple all that with the avalanche of Majority Voter Disapproval of the Obama/Reid/Pelosi Leftist Ideology Attack on the Fabric of the nation, in a mid-term election year mind you, and what you have is…

The Death of ObamaCare
and the looming destruction
of the Incumbent DEM Congress Majority

Obama? Waterloo does not adequately convey
the totality of demolition of the Socialist Juggernaut
You have been driving.

By the Way, Barack, Scott Brown will be sworn in today
as the 41st voting GOP Senator
Your Senate Uber-Majority ist Kaputt!

morning SH, I will need to consider whether to do another blogpost. Tyson Wheatly (sp?) emailed and asked me to do an ireport on autism since I have done one in the past and am of the opinion that vaccines contribute to the condition. Now that the definitive study has been discredited, they want me to go and eat crow, I guess. I not backing down, though. I still think that mercury in vaccines is not a good thing.
hey belle! how is woody and your neighbor situation?

I just read this on c-span.org.

Comcast Chair & CEO Brian Roberts and NBC Universal President & CEO Jeff Zucker today defend their proposal to merge the two companies at subcommittee hearings of the House Energy & Commerce and Senate Judiciary committees. House and Senate members are likely to question the deal’s potential impact on the media marketplace, including program availability and consumer costs.

Again, is this something that we should be wasting our time with??

  19. Foxwood says:

The Dept. Homeland Security (DHS) Inspector General’s Office is releasing a previously embargoed report detailing $110 million spent on conference-related travel by DHS employees. The House Homeland Security Oversight Subcmte. will examine whether the funds were spent on mission-related activities and how to make DHS more transparent and accountable.

Maybe this money was spent in Cophenhagen! Pelosi tried to hide the funds.

  24. ohiobelle says:

They are talking about the $110 million on c-span2.

  25. rosehips says:

    hey VF!
ya know, I would never have realized how much Obama takes that pompous, nose-in-the-air stance that so many on the right seem to catch him in so often. That, juxtaposed with his many bows, really gives one pause. Who is this man-God? Why does he do the things he does? What will history say about him?

I love that someday students may research the annointed one and discover archives from VotingFemale’s blog. That will be so, so enlightening. lol

  26. Foxwood says:

SCHULTZ: First of all you walk into the White House, in the West Wing, and there are picture all over, I mean everywhere! Of President Obama! I mean, of his life in the first year as president of the United States. Now I don’t know if that’s the way it is with every president, but it was almost a shrine. I mean, well, here’s a picture of Obama the president with his kids over here. There he is getting on Air Force One. Here he is with some military people. Here he is on the line working the line at one of his campaign stops. I mean, just, it was just one picture after another! (laughs)

And so I got the message right away that there’s nothing but Obama fans in the White House which I think is a good thing. ‘Cause it’s always good to have the team together, right? (laughs)

  27. Foxwood says:

“Now I don’t know if that’s the way it is with every president,”

  28. samhenry says:

RH – I don’t have one but a lot of my friends do. The key question: will the average T owner accept the fact that a tiny rod will end the problem?

Now in the auto business, THE US is going to go after Toyota big time gnawing at its chutzpah in letting the issue slide for so long. Obama had better be careful in Japan bashing.

A while back North Korea was threatening to launch a missile towards Hawaii. They didn’t.

All we can and pray for is that Iran is just saber rattling. Seems stupid to announce an attack on anyone.

  32. samhenry says:

Rose – about the way the vaccine issue vis a vis autism has been treated – I would search out the ways in which other medical myths have been debunked and then accepted back into the fold. One good example – the discrediting of the breast cancer exam age thing was rolled back. Really, so many people don’t have the answer but carry on as if they are the final word. The test for the age thing was flawed and they knew it.

  33. samhenry says:

Pictures of Obama all over in the WH FOX – no doubt but notice few mirrors. Thats because we wouldn’t see his reflection.

  34. Foxwood says:

If Reagan were in office, Sami, there would be no saber rattling. The Iranians would be wondering when we were going to send them to their virgins.

If Reagan were in office the Iranians would be saying where did Tehran Go.

  36. rosehips says:

well, I’m sorry to Sarah fans but her calling for Emmanuel’s firing is way out of line, imo. Just wait until she is President! Will she fire every advisor, cabinet member or whatever whenever they make a faux pas????

okay, she is bringing the issue to the surface and I am glad that she is. I think “retarded” is offensive but it has become trendy to use it. I was beginning to get used to it even because I realize it isn’t used to disparage the disabled. I’ve seen it used many times here on this blog without any admonishment. I hope that will change now.
It’s like calling things “gay”. At first I found the term distasteful, but got used to it after hearing so many kids using it.

  37. Foxwood says:

I got all kinds of names for him, but I found that the twitter twit go nuts over Obutthole.

“Is that supposed to be a dis on the President?”

Have you not learned anything yet?

  43. Foxwood says:

“Have you not learned anything yet?”

VF – I can’t send a trackback to you. I can to others. There is something going on in WordPress.

  49. samhenry says:

OK not the link comes here but the text does not show up in the comment field. Strange.

I have to stop for the day – on too long.

Bye Sami, Rose and FOX and VF – see you all later or tomorrow.

    DOG hangs up the phone.

  50. samhenry says:

Rose – was half awake when I wrote about autism. I did not mean to infer that the virus shots were a myth. I meant to check out studies that debunked myths and got to the truth. Then they were over thrown and then the truth of the previous studies and tests were accepted. I think this will happen in the case of autism. Those shots were the only outside factor that entered young people’s bodies.

Did you read where sudden infant syndrome may be linked to

  51. Foxwood says:

It worked for me Rosey, but then before you get the free book they want a credit card number…

I think free should be free. I would have ordered it and read it if it didn’t ask for the CC number.

  52. rosehips says:

SH, I have a friend who had a normal boy who got his shots a little late. He was already talking and developing normally. After the shots he changed and stopped developing normally and was eventually diagnosed with autism. You will never convince her that her son’s autism was not caused by the vaccines.

  53. rosehips says:

yeah, foxy. I would not give my cc # for a free offer. There is a scam somewhere in there.

I heard about a teacher near here who got scammed online. She joined a “poster club”, got a discount on some posters for her classroom and then canceled her membership, like she was told she could. Problem was, she kept getting billed. Took a lot to stop that.

  54. Foxwood says:

Looks like Obutthole trickle down economics works!

We’re almost below 10,000 in the dow.

  55. samhenry says:

Rose – re autism – could not agree with you more.

Kiss me goodbye, I had the H1N1 shot per doctors orders yesterday. Personally I think the whole H1N1 thing was so poorly handled. Distribution of the vaccine has been hideously out of control. It was tested so sort a time that the final clinical trial will be in the general public.

I pushed the button before I finished up about sudden infant death syndrome. Researchers now think it may have something to do with serotonin levels in the brain.

    Bring on the cures!

  56. Foxwood says:

“Problem was, she kept getting billed. Took a lot to stop that.”

    Yeah, been there, done that!

  64. Foxwood says:

The former CEO and other officers of Bank of America have been called up on charges of fraud by the New York Attorney General. Concurrrently, the SEC is looking into activities. One of the other of them have got BAC to agree to huge fines.

Fraud = against stock holders who were not told the terrible situation Merrill Lynch was in (many law suits) prior to approving the merger between the two.

  80. samhenry says:

  81. rosehips says:

haha foxy and you want a toy yoda. I am glad I am not a toyota owner today. I could be. I think Corollas and Camry’s are good cars, as well as Prius. I am going to look into a small diesel and convert to biofuel so I can burn cooking oil. Are there any domestic diesel economy cars? I am not sure. I’d like to buy american. There is a friend of a friend who converted his car to burn cooking oil and I am going to ask him what it will cost to do it.
I have another friend who has an electric/gas hybrid and is asking the city council to put up a charging station in town. good luck to him; the town is practically broke, I think. But I want his converted ford ranger, named the Ohm Ranger. I even did an ireport about it.

  88. rosehips says:

of course they say Nova means “no go” in spanish, but I did not find that to be the case.

    Remember the Vega?

  89. Foxwood says:

Maybe he called them corpse men on purpose?

  90. rosehips says:

yeah foxy, common mistake. I saw a guy on the news or on a doc who said he spent time in the peace corpse. I thought that odd that someone who had spent time there would pronounce it that way? maybe they do some places. I dunno.

  91. Foxwood says:

Millions in Stimulus Spending Being Doled Out for Questionable Jobs

Federal agencies are spending stimulus money at the rate of $196 million an hour. And they will do so every hour for the next eight months until a September 30, 2010, deadline.

Federal agencies are spending stimulus money at the rate of $196 million an hour. And they will do so every hour for the next eight months until a September 30, 2010, deadline.

“When you put that kind of money out the door that fast, there’s a possibility of $55 billion dollars of waste, fraud and abuse connected with it,” Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, said Thursday before a Senate Finance Committee hearing examining the lack of oversight in the $878 billion dollar economic stimulus bill passed a year ago.

Grassley said he fears much of the money is going to some individuals and businesses that don’t qualify for it and projects that do not serve taxpayers best interests. Judge for yourself:

    — $233,000 to the University of California at San Diego to study why Africans vote. Jobs created: 12, but seven of those are Africans in Africa.

    — In Nevada, $2 million in stimulus money built a new fire station, but because of budget cuts, the county can’t afford to hire firefighters to work there.

    — Penn State University got $1.5 million to study plant fossils in Argentina. Of 5 jobs created, 2 belong to Argentines.

    — Researchers the State University of New York at Buffalo got $389,000 to pay 100 Buffalonians $45 each to record how much malt liquor they drink — and how much pot smoke each day. Consumption is then reported via an automated phone hotline. Cost per job: almost $200,000.

    — The Obama administration is spending $5 billion to weatherize homes. But one Texas county spent $4 million to weatherize just 47 homes. That’s $78,000 per house. Each retrofit is supposed to save homeowners $500 a year in energy costs. That means taxpayers will recoup their investment in 156 years, long after the home is probably torn down.

    — Two Arizona universities got almost $1 million dollars so 3 grad students can study how ants work. That’s more than $300,000 per job.

    — Companies that raise tropical fish, shellfish, catfish, alligators and even turtles qualify for $50 million in tax money to buy fish food.

    — North Carolina public schools received $4.4 million to hire math and literacy coaches, not for students, but teachers. That’s 64 people paid $70,000 each to teach teachers how to teach reading and math.

“We have to know that people at the Office of Management and Budget and the various agencies that are shoveling this money out the door, that they’re on top of it,” Grassley told Fox News. “And we need transparency and information on all of this.”

Senate sources say privately many inspectors general are understaffed and overwhelmed, and mechanisms to stop fraud and disqualify tax cheats, criminals and others aren’t always working.

Take the Napa Valley Wine Train. The county received $54 million to build a railroad bridge, relocate a half-mile of track and build a flood wall to protect a wine train passenger station. The no-bid contract went to a minority-owned business operated by an Eskimo tribe outside Anchorage.

The company then hired a real construction company for a fraction of what they were paid by the government to actually do the work. The tribe’s CEO has no construction experience. His last business, a Web site for sailors, went bankrupt after spending $13 million in investor money.

“That wine train is sort of the perfect storm of practically all of the things that is wrong with government contracting,” said Danielle Brian, director of the Project on Government Oversight.

    Other dubious contracts include:

    — $6 million in stimulus money to a California contractor under federal investigation for overcharging San Diego for cleanup after the 2007 wildfires

    — A Denver developer received $13 million in tax credits to help build a senior housing complex despite being sued as a slumlord for running decrepit, rodent-infested apartment buildings in San Francisco.

    — Kentucky gave $24 million to a contractor on trial on for bribery.

    — An aerospace company received $15 million to monitor water quality in a Ventura County creek it was already fined for polluting.

“What we have is already a broken system. The federal government is just lousy in its contracting. When you add these elements of speed where the contracting officers or the agencies are being pushed to hurry up and get these dollars out and these grants out quickly, all you’re doing is making it harder for them to make good choices,” said Brian.

Some inspectors general are spending less than one percent of stimulus expenditures on oversight.

Portugal near political crisis over debt
    By Peter Wise in Lisbon

    Published: February 4 2010 22:24 | Last updated: February 4 2010 22:24

Portugal moved towards a political crisis on Thursday night as its finance minister appealed to opposition parties not to defeat the minority Socialist government over a regional finance bill that he said would undermine the country’s international credibility.

In a televised address, Fernando Teixeira dos Santos said opposition proposals to allow the Portuguese islands of Madeira and the Azores to increase their debt would have “grave consequences for Portugal’s public accounts” and send “the worst possible message” to financial markets.

Portugal suffers as debt concern spreads – Feb-04Lisbon moves to cut rising deficit – Jan-27Portugal warned of threat to rating – Jan-11His warning came as Portuguese bonds and shares came under fire for the second day running as concerns over sovereign debt spread from Greece to other high-deficit countries in the eurozone.

The Lisbon stock market fell almost 5 per cent on Thursday, the biggest daily fall since November 2008, and bond yields rose to new highs amid doubts over the ability of Portugal to consolidate its public accounts.

The cost of insuring Portuguese debt against default also rose to a record high.

Mr Teixeira dos Santos said approval of the bill would involve an increase of €50m (£45m, $70m) in funding for the islands this year, rising to an increase of €83m in 2013. This would make it impossible for the government to meet its commitment to the European Commission to cut the budget deficit from 9.3 per cent of GDP in 2009 to less than 3 per cent in 2013.

The centre-right Socialists were re-elected to a second four-year term in September, but lost their overall majority in parliament. The contested bill is supported by opposition parties on the left and right who together have enough votes to defeat the government.

Opposition parties accused the government of “irresponsibility” and deliberately creating a crisis to ensure the bill was defeated.

Earlier on Thursday, Mr Teixeira dos Santos said “strong and credible” measures to be presented the European Commission this month would be “no less ambitious” than the Greek plan to consolidate public finances endorsed by Brussels on Tuesday.

He said Portugal had taken over from Greece as the main victim of the “animal spirits” of financial markets that were often “irrational”. The concern in the case of Portugal, he said, was not justified.

    Solitaire lyrics
    by the Carpenters

    There was a man

    A lonely man

    Who lost his love

    Through his indifference

    A heart that cared

    That went unshared

    Until it died

    Within his silence

(*) and solitaires the only game in town

And every road that takes him

    Takes him down

And by himself its easy to pretend

    Hell never love again

    (**) and keeping to himself

    He plays the game

    Without her love

    It always ends the same

While life goes on around him everywhere

    Hes playing solitaire

    A little hope

    Goes up in smoke

    Just how it goes

    Goes without saying

    There was a man

    A lonely man

    Who would command

    The hand hes playing

You all are my friends so I feel I can share a little bit of my history with you. The Carpenters song has brought back some old feelings. When I broke up with my first real love. It damn near killed me. I contemplated suicide over and over again. It was the worst depression I have ever felt. I carried the torch for her for years. I am an attractive guy and dated many beautiful women after that but I just could not give my heart to any of them. I can’t tell you how many times women have told me over the years that they love me but I just could not love them back. I had good times and very passionate moments with them but just could not commit my heart. Every time I tried to love the pain from the past would come back. Many years later I met my wife and opened my heart to her. I was very happy to finally let go of the past. We are still together after 18 years and I could not imagine my life now without her.

Jobless Rate Falls Unexpectedly to 9.7 Percent in January

The unemployment rate dropped unexpectedly in January to 9.7 percent from 10 percent while employers shed 20,000 jobs, the government said Friday.

WASHINGTON – The unemployment rate dropped unexpectedly in January to 9.7 percent from 10 percent while employers shed 20,000 jobs, the government said Friday.

The rate dropped because a survey of households found the number of employed Americans rose by 541,000, the Labor Department said. The job losses are calculated from a separate survey of employers.

The report also included an annual revision to the estimates of total payrolls, which showed there were 930,000 fewer jobs last March than previously estimated. The department also revised down its estimates for April through October of last year, adding another 433,000 job losses.

The November figure was revised higher, however, to show a gain of 64,000 jobs.

All told, the Great Recession has eliminated 8.4 million jobs, the department said. That’s the most of any recession since World War II as a proportion of total payrolls.

Aside from November’s gain, January’s job losses were the smallest since the recession began. Employers cut 779,000 jobs in January 2009.

The report included more good news from the manufacturing sector, which is a key factor in the recovery. Manufacturers gained 11,000 jobs, its largest increase since April 2006.

Retailers added 42,100 jobs, the most since November 2007, before the recession began. Temporary help services gained 52,000 jobs, the fourth month of gains in that category. That could signal future hiring, as employers usually hire temp workers before permanent ones.

The number of part-time workers who want full-time work, but can’t find it fell by almost 1 million. That lowered the “underemployment” rate, which also includes discouraged workers, to 16.5 percent from 17.3 percent.

  223. ohiobelle says:

  228. samiam60 says:

NEW YORK (AP) — Investors showed a mildly positive reaction Friday to news that unemployment unexpectedly dropped last month.

The Labor Department said the unemployment rate fell to 9.7 percent from 10 percent in December. However, employers cut 20,000 jobs last month, more than the 5,000 economists expected, according to Thomson Reuters.

Economists forecast the unemployment rate would rise to 10.1 percent.

The “underemployment” rate, which includes part-time workers looking for full-time work and discouraged workers, fell to 16.5 percent from 17.3 percent. Some analysts say that is a better representation of the job market than the unemployment rate
