Stimulus Funds funneled $6 million Payola to Campaigning Firms?

Well… I, for one, am hardly surprised if this did happen. After all, I saw and vetted the following video as truthful…

Following is an Article from The Hill

Mark Penn’s two firms got $6 million from stimulus for PR campaign

By Alexander Bolton – 12/09/09 12:00 AM ET

Nearly $6 million in stimulus money was paid to two firms run by Mark Penn, Hillary Clinton’s pollster in 2008.

Federal records show that $5.97 million from the $787 billion stimulus helped preserve three jobs at Burson-Marsteller, the global public-relations and communications firm headed by Penn.
Burson-Marsteller won the contract to work on a public-relations campaign to advertise the national switch from analog to digital television. Nearly $2.8 million of the contract was issued to Penn’s polling firm, Penn, Schoen & Berland Associates, according to federal records.
Federal records also show that a former adviser to President Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign received nearly $70,000 from that contract to help alert viewers in difficult-to-reach communities that their televisions would soon no longer receive broadcast signals.

The adviser, Alfredo J. Balsera, who heads a public-affairs firm based in Coral Gables, Fla., helped craft Obama’s Hispanic advertising message.

Republicans on Tuesday criticized the federal spending on the advertising project as a waste of taxpayer dollars. They noted that the advertising campaign took place on May 5, only 39 days before the digital television transition was scheduled (June 12)

GOP Sens. John McCain (Ariz.) and Tom Coburn (Okla.) held a news conference Tuesday to blast 100 “wasteful” projects funded by the $787 billion economic stimulus package Congress passed earlier this year, concluding that at least $7 billion of the $217 billion spent through November was wasteful and mismanaged

The GOP senators highlighted the direction of the stimulus funds on the same day Obama outlined a new series of proposals for creating jobs that Republicans view as another stimulus measure. The proposals include tax cuts for small businesses, tax incentives for employers to hire new workers and infrastructure spending.

The need for additional measures has raised questions over the efficacy of the stimulus package passed earlier this year.

White House officials have said the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimated the stimulus helped to create 1.6 million jobs. White House aides also have noted that the national employment report for November showed dramatic improvement compared to early this year.

A White House spokeswoman on Tuesday responded to the GOP report by saying Coburn’s previous reports on stimulus spending have been filled with “false or misleading claims.”

“In the end, even if there are a few unwise projects, it is only a handful out of the over 50,000 projects that have been approved to date,” said Liz Oxhorn, a White House spokeswoman. “The real question here is whether Recovery Act critics will at long last acknowledge that well over 99 percent of the projects are sound, effective and working as promised.”

McCain and Coburn did not show any indication that they knew two Democratic political strategists received funding through the grant.

A review of federal records by The Hill revealed Penn and Balsera received money from the economic stimulus program.

It just keeps getting worse for old tiger.

EXCLUSIVE: Tiger Woods Dissed Wife In Email To Mistress

His marriage is in tatters after numerous women have come out to reveal their sexual affairs and now Tiger Woods’ nightmare is growing worse – the emails he tried to keep private are leaking into public.

Tiger’s Team silenced Rachel Uchitel, his mistress of the past five months, partly because she has hundreds of text messages and emails from him detailing the seriousness of their relationship. As was first to report, Tiger paid for Rachel to meet him in Australia last month and was also going to hook up with her in Dubai.

EXCLUSIVE: Tiger Woods’ Reps Tried To Pay Off Affair Witness

His messages to her not only prove their relationship, but has learned they also contain negative comments about his wife.

One of those emails to Rachel leaking into public this week says: “I finally found someone I connect with, someone I have never found like this. Not even at home. Why didn’t we find each other years ago?”

The golfing great’s marriage to Elin is hanging by a thread, according to multiple sources, and when she finds out that he dissed her to one of his mistresses the situation is going to grow worse.

    Climategate: Gore falsifies the record

    Andrew Bolt
    Wednesday, December 09, 2009 at 06:54pm

Al Gore has studied the Climategate emails with his typically rigorous eye and dismissed them as mere piffle:

Q: How damaging to your argument was the disclosure of e-mails from the Climate Research Unit at East Anglia University?

A: To paraphrase Shakespeare, it’s sound and fury signifying nothing. I haven’t read all the e-mails, but the most recent one is more than 10 years old. These private exchanges between these scientists do not in any way cause any question about the scientific consensus.

And in case you think that was a mere slip of the tongue:

Q: There is a sense in these e-mails, though, that data was hidden and hoarded, which is the opposite of the case you make [in your book] about having an open and fair debate.

A: I think it’s been taken wildly out of context. The discussion you’re referring to was about two papers that two of these scientists felt shouldn’t be accepted as part of the IPCC report. Both of them, in fact, were included, referenced, and discussed. So an e-mail exchange more than 10 years ago including somebody’s opinion that a particular study isn’t any good is one thing, but the fact that the study ended up being included and discussed anyway is a more powerful comment on what the result of the scientific process really is.

    In fact, thrice denied:

These people are examining what they can or should do to deal with the P.R. dimensions of this, but where the scientific consensus is concerned, it’s completely unchanged. What we’re seeing is a set of changes worldwide that just make this discussion over 10-year-old e-mails kind of silly.

In fact, as Watts Up With That shows, one Climategate email was from just two months ago. The most recent was sent on November 12 – just a month ago. The emails which have Tom Wigley seeming (to me) to choke on the deceit are all from this year. Phil Jones’ infamous email urging other Climategate scientists to delete emails is from last year.

How closely did Gore read these emails? Did he actually read any at all? Was he lying or just terribly mistaken? What else has he got wrong?

EXCLUSIVE: Tiger Woods’ Reps Tried To Pay Off Affair Witness

Tiger Woods’ representative offered $200,000 to try to pay off a witness with detailed knowledge of his affair with Rachel Uchitel. is also reporting exclusively that they hired a private investigator and tried to dig up dirt on Woods’ accusers in an early attempt to discredit them and bury the scandal.

    Gatorade Drops Tiger Woods’ Drink

Ashley Samson, the first person to publicly reveal that Tiger cheated with party girl Rachel, says the golfer’s reps offered her $200,000 to change her story and deny that Tiger was having an affair with Uchitel.

The National Enquirer broke the story of Woods’ affair with Uchitel, starting a sequence of events that has now led to numerous women revealing their sexual relationships with the married 33-year-old golf legend.

Uchitel denied the affair at first until Team Tiger silenced her with a deal.

And Samson says in the new issue of the Enquirer: “Tiger Woods’ people offered me $200,000 to change my story and deny he was having an affair with Rachel.” This was before Tiger finally issued a statement vaguely acknowledging that he had been unfaithful.

Samson adds: “He wanted me to say that I was not telling the truth about them and that I was withdrawing my statements he was cheating on his wife with Rachel.” has independently confirmed with a high-level source that Samson was offered $200,000 in Tiger’s damage control effort. But the source, who has ties to Team Tiger, says the money was for Samson to remain silent instead of recant.

But has also learned that Tiger’s people hired a private investigator to dig up as much dirt as possible on all of Tiger’s accusers in the early stages of the scandal, hoping that if they could discredit the accusers they could control the scandal.

It turned out to be a bad miscalculation as more women who had affairs with Tiger went public with their stories leaving his image and marriage in tatters.

    Cheney makes big 2010 prediction

(CNN) – As President Barack Obama nears one year in office, Dick Cheney is predicting the Republican Party is in for a big 2010.

“I think we’ll pick up a lot of seats,” the former vice president told Fox New’s Sean Hannity Tuesday. “Prospects for the Republicans in 2010 are very good.”

Next November, all 435 seats in the House and more than a third in the Senate are up for grabs. Democrats will be defending their 258-177 margin in the House and 20-seat advantage in the Senate.

Cheney, who is among his party’s most fervent critics of the president, said Obama is in a more vulnerable position than anyone predicted one year ago.

“Right after Obama was elected, there was the view that he was invincible,” Cheney said. “He raised more money than anybody else. He had a machine that smashed the Clinton campaign and then won the election, and that he’d be around for eight years and now I think that has changed fairly dramatically.”

The vice president also said Obama has implemented “radical” far left policies even though he campaigned as a conventional Democrat.

“He got elected as a liberal Democrat, but conventional in the sense of falling within the parameters of the national Democratic Party,” Cheney said. “He’s demonstrated pretty conclusively now during his first year in office that he’s more radical than that, that he’s farther outside the parameters…of what we’ve traditionally had in Democratic presidents in years past.”

But Cheney held back from predicting who in his party is best positioned to take on the president come 2012.

“At this point I’d be reluctant to pinpoint anybody,” he said. “It might hurt them more than it would help them coming from me.”

vf, I am watching Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Texas) on C-SPAN2 and she is really making some great points. I was not aware that if health care passed today all the major taxes of this bill starts NEXT MONTH even though no benefits will begin until 2014! If that happens then I for one will be screwed!! This is why I hate liberals! Don’t they know you shouldn’t raise taxes when the economy is this unstable!!! UGH

  8. ohiobelle says:

“concluding that at least $7 billion of the $217 billion spent through November was wasteful and mismanaged”

Imagine what will happen if healthscare passes!

  9. m2 says:

What would one ask Obama if they had him cornered?

I would say- what comes next when govt/public jobs grossly devour private sector business. Do the unfunded pensions and benifits continue forever, since his “Job Summit” hosted Unions (SEIU), while the Stalinists terrorize the CEO if the Chamber with threats-

    what happens?

  10. m2 says:

Either he’s a dumbass who hasn’t thought that far, (only after power to assauge his arrogance) Or he just wants the country to suffer and die.

    Either way…

  11. ohiobelle says:

M2, speaking of SEIU, did you hear that ACORN was “investigated” and found innocent of ALL charges??? Yup, the ACORN Advisory Council was made up of 8 radicals that in one way or another helped build ACORN. That seems real fair!! Now ACORN will be able to get more of our taxpayer money and I don’t even want to think about the Census.

  12. samiam60 says:

Obama and his Democrats of the Left Loon Bin have greatly underestimated the Great People of America.

Never before has a President scored so low so early in a Presidency. Never before has a Speaker of the House scored so low among the People.

The Democrat Socialist are all done come 2010 lest there me Marshal Law in place. We know this and so do they.

    Scary stuff.

  13. ohiobelle says:

Now ACORN can go after those brave kids that made the video tape and put them behind bars! This is such bullshit!! There is nothing we can do about it.

  14. samiam60 says:

The now Constant stream of Corruption being reported now on a dailey basis will surely bring about the Resignation of one Barrack H. Obama.

It can not come soon enough.

  15. ohiobelle says:

Obama is ACORN! Obama is going to pass f’ing healthscare and tax & spend regardless of what we say or do! He’ll get tax & spend even though global warming is a hoax! Nothing can stop him or ACORN!!!

Acorn and the Civilian Security Force may well become one in the same.

I wish that was true but I don’t think it will work on somebody suffering from narcissistic personality disorder

  18. m2 says:

RH I’ll give a go at your disdain for free market (freedom to fail or succeed), there won’t be 89 flavors of gum because the public can choose what fails by individual liberty and personal choice.

There’s 1200 insurance companies (or so), yet liberals clamor for the public option and scream about choice and competition. 1201 is choice and competition? It’s well known by the lawmakers & public (& Obama and Soros) that the public option with no profit to make will limit choice and competition by legislating real companies out of business. That’s not freedom- that’s regulated death of choce and competition- which, I mean, why do the same ppl drive around with “I support single-payer” bumper stickers?

And it’s fact that insurance co. make about 2% profit- their like 12th down on the list, with IT (like Big Brother Google) companies making the most profit.

Belle, ACORN put that investigation, so heh heh… The Attorney Gen. is supposed to investigate too?

Don’t worry, Breitbart is gonna take down the intimidation & corrupt ACORN if justice is not served by the political Justice Depts of the U.S.
