The 128-member single-chamber Hondurian Parliament has voted 98-12 to reject reinstating Manuel Zelaya to power after he was voted out of office for illegally attempting to change the country’s constitution to allow himself no term limits.
According to Times Online, Zelaya said he didn’t want the job anyway if it were for only the two remaining months. Zelaya’s term would have been up on January 22, 2010.
He urged other governments not to restore ties with the incoming administration of Porfirio Lobo, who won Sunday’s presidential election.
