Left-wing Loon responds to charge of Left-wing Looniness with Left-wing Looniness! hahaha

I got a trackback last evening from a classic Left Wing Loon blogger who wrote a blogpost response to my blogpost:

I had cited them as one of three examples of Pavlovian Left Wing Loon reactions to Sarah Palin’s Left Wing Loon baiting with the gasp! PROFILE word.

Well… their counter was so funny I was in tears reading it! Completely devoid of intellect and maturity, their little head just spun faster… and spewed even more Left Wing Loony-ness… all proving the point! Folks, it hardly gets better than this! hahahaha

One of the photoshop pics of Sarah has a KKK uniform grafted on her standing in the middle of a sea of supporters touting only white racists support her. Only problem is… there is a black woman within 10 feet of her. hahahahahaha

Ohh… applying Alinsky’s rules on these Left-wing Loons is soo FUN!!!!

Oh and get this… they call me a racist, calls Sarah a racist, and has a blogpost calling Michael Steele the n-word:

See… all they are good for is holding up to the world and ridiculing them as the unintelligent rabid laughable Left Wing Loons they truly are… all that personal attack stuff is s0000 2008 and sooo Laughably Loony!

Engaging in a battle of wits with Left Wing Loons like that would be like bringing an A-10 Warthog to a spitball fight!

These Progressives are miss named in that they are living in the past. They should all be driving Deloreans. Back to the Future. They all remind me of Biff! Evil and stupid wrapped up in one package.

Debating a Liberal is an effort in futility as they lack Common Sense and can only resort to name calling as they have not one Fact with which they can stand up to a Debate With.

White House on Collision Course With Bishops Over Abortion

  5. samiam60 says:

More than 150 Christian leaders, most of them conservative evangelicals and traditionalist Roman Catholics, issued a joint declaration Friday reaffirming their opposition to abortion and gay marriage and pledging to protect religious freedoms.

  6. samiam60 says:

The White House is on a collision course with Catholic bishops in an intractable dispute over abortion that could blow up the fragile political coalition behind President Obama’s health care overhaul.

A top Obama administration official on Thursday praised the new Senate health care bill’s attempt to find a compromise on abortion coverage — even as an official of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops said Sen. Harry Reid’s bill is the worst he’s seen so far on the divisive issue.

The bishops were instrumental in getting tough anti-abortion language adopted by the House, forcing Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., to accept restrictions that outraged liberals as the price for passing the Democratic health care bill. Reid, D-Nev., now faces a similar choice: Ultimately, he will need the votes of Democratic senators who oppose abortion to get his bill through the Senate.

So far, Reid has steered the Senate bill in a direction that abortion rights supporters can live with: allowing coverage for abortion in federally subsidized health care plans, provided that beneficiaries’ own premiums are used to pay for the procedure. But abortion opponents say his compromise would gut current federal restrictions on abortion funding.

More than 150 Christian leaders, most of them conservative evangelicals and traditionalist Roman Catholics, issued a joint declaration Friday reaffirming their opposition to abortion and gay marriage and pledging to protect religious freedoms.

The 4,700-word document, called “The Manhattan Declaration: A Call of Christian Conscience,” sounds familiar themes from political and social debates over the health care overhaul and gay marriage battles.

While acknowledging that “Christians and our institutions have too often scandalously failed to uphold the institution of marriage,” the group rejects same-sex marriage. The declaration states that opening a legal door for gay marriage would do the same for “polyamorous partnerships, polygamous households, even adult brothers, sisters, or brothers and sisters living in incestuous relationships.”

President Obama’s desire to reduce the need for abortion is “a commendable goal,” but his proposals are likely to increase the number of elective abortions, the document contends.

“The present administration is led and staffed by those who want to make abortions legal at any stage of fetal development, and who want to provide abortions at taxpayer expense,” it says.

Signatories include 15 Roman Catholic bishops, including New York Archbishop Timothy Dolan and Washington Archbishop Donald Wuerl; Focus on the Family founder James Dobson; National Association of Evangelicals president Leith Anderson; seminary leaders, professors and pastors.

Despite criticism, there were growing indications Reid would prevail on an initial Senate showdown set for Saturday night. He needs a 60-vote majority to advance the bill toward full debate, expected to begin after Thanksgiving and last for weeks. It’s during that debate that the battle over abortion will be joined in earnest. Reid will need to clear other 60-vote hurdles before senators cast their final vote on the bill.

At the White House on Thursday, health reform director Nancy Ann DeParle praised Reid’s effort to find a compromise on abortion.

“It was carefully worked through by the leader, who cares a lot about making sure this maintains the status quo on abortion policy,” DeParle told reporters. Obama has said he wants the bill to remain neutral on abortion, and DeParle said Reid struck just the right balance.

But Richard Doerflinger, associate director of the bishops’ conference Secretariat of Pro-Life Activities, said Reid’s “is actually the worst bill we’ve seen so far on the life issues.”

He called it “completely unacceptable,” adding that “to say this reflects current law is ridiculous.”

The bill would forbid including abortion coverage as a required medical benefit. However, it would allow a new government insurance plan to cover abortions and let private insurers that receive federal subsidies offer plans that include abortion coverage.

In all cases, the money to pay for abortions would have to come from premiums paid by beneficiaries themselves, kept strictly separate from federal subsidy dollars. Government funds could be used for abortions only in cases of rape, incest or to save the life of the mother — reflecting a current law known as the Hyde amendment.

The Hyde amendment restrictions apply to Medicaid, military health care and the federal employee health plan. Many states provide abortion coverage to low-income Medicaid beneficiaries, but they must do so separately with their own funds.

Abortion opponents say Reid’s bill circumvents Hyde. For example, they say that any funds a government insurance plan would use to pay for abortion would be federal funds by definition — even if the money comes from premiums paid by beneficiaries.
“All the money the government has starts out being private money,” said Douglas Johnson, legislative director for National Right to Life. “Once the government has them, they’re federal funds.”

The restrictive language passed by the House would forbid any health plan that receives federal subsidies from paying for abortions, except as allowed by the Hyde amendment. Women would have to purchase separate coverage for abortion services.
Abortion rights supporters say that fencing off government funds from private premiums would achieve the same goal, without forcing women to get special coverage for a legal medical procedure now routinely included in many private health insurance plans.

Shocker doesn’t arrive in time for lobster fundraiser
    Arizona daily star
    Tucson, Arizona | Published: 11.15.2009
About 1,800 live lobsters were boiled in the traditional manner at a Saturday fundraising event after a loaned crustacean shocker failed to arrive.
“We did it the usual way,” said Eric Schindler, CEO of Child and Family Resources.
Schindler said the Crustastun crustacean shocker, which an animal-rights group had arranged to have on site, failed to arrive.
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals had asked the agency, which annually raises money for its programs by selling cooked lobsters and lobster dinners, to use the Crustastun, which electrocutes the lobsters in half a second.
Schindler said he had been told by UPS that the package containing the device would be flown to Tucson overnight. “Turns out it went on a truck and it’s somewhere between Kentucky and here,” he said.
“It’s a total nightmare,” said Lindsay Rajt of PETA.
Schindler said his agency is amenable to using the device next year if it is made available to them.
Rajt said her group will do that. “We hope, of course, in the future, that Child and Family Resources will either stop selling lobsters altogether or use the device next year,” Rajt said.

Unemployment rates rise in 29 states
More states report rising unemployment rates, though fewer report joblessness above the national average in October.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) — A growing number of states reported rising jobless rates in October, and thirteen states reported unemployment rates above the national average of 10.2%, according to a government report released on Friday.

Overall, jobless rates increased in 29 states and the District of Columbia last month, while they fell in 13 states, according to a monthly Labor Department survey on state unemployment.

In September, 23 states and Washington D.C. reported that their unemployment rates increased, and 14 states had jobless rates above the national average.

Michigan remained the state with the highest rate of unemployment at 15.1%, though that rate was down 0.2 percentage points from September. October was the 11th straight month in which Michigan posted an unemployment rate above 10%.

Still, that’s nowhere near the 68-consecutive months in which Michigan had double-digit unemployment between 1980 and 1985. That included a record high of 16.9% in November 1982.

In a sign that the worst-hit state may be experiencing a glimmer of recovery, Michigan added 38,600 jobs in October, more than any other state except for Texas, which added nearly 42,000 jobs. California added 25,700 jobs last month, though the nation’s largest state has shed nearly 700,000 jobs over the past 12 months.

    Job losses nationwide
Every state had an unemployment rate in October that was higher than a year ago, and every state has lost jobs over the course of the year.

But since last month, the vast majority of states showed very slight increases or decreases in their unemployment rates. Only a few had significant jumps in their jobless rates. Unemployment rates in Alaska and Wyoming both rose 0.6 percentage points. Arkansas’ rate grew 0.5 points last month.

North Dakota continued to post the lowest jobless rate, coming in at 4.2%, which was unchanged from September. It was followed by Nebraska with 4.9%, South Dakota at 5%, Montana at 6.4%, and Vermont and Utah at 6.5%.

Unemployment was highest in the western part of the country. That region now has a jobless rate of 10.8% — the highest rate ever in the 33-year old state unemployment report. The Northeast again had the lowest rate of unemployment at 9%, the same level as the previous month.

Earlier in November, the Labor Department reported that the nation’s unemployment rate rose above 10% for the first time since 1983.

    Health Reform Lifeline for Unions

  27. samiam60 says:

The House health-care bill has tossed a lifeline to union health-care plans, a lifeline that comes fast on the heels of another victory for the unions in health-care reform.

Unions have successfully beaten back a Congressional effort to level a 40% excise tax on “Cadillac plans,” the insurance plans that cover more medical costs and which are mostly won by unions in exchange for lower wages.

The unions forced Congress to back down on the excise tax by using this line of argument: taxing Cadillac plans would effectively be a tax on the middle class, forcing President Obama to break his campaign pledge to not raise taxes on the middle class.

Instead, Congress has proposed slapping higher Medicare taxes on those earning more than $250,000 a year, as a House bill proposes.

There are other union lifelines in the House health care bill (HR 3962), which contains provisions designed to benefit retirees, primarily union workers who receive health-care coverage through their employers:

    – Section 110 prohibits group health plans from cutting a retiree’s health benefits post-retirement, particularly valuable for union workers. The retiree’s portion of insurance premiums may not increase or the value of the coverage may not decrease more than 5% unless the same changes are made to active employees;

    – Section 111 creates a $10 billon fund that lasts from 2010 to 2013 to finance a temporary reinsurance program to help offset the costs of health benefits for retirees age 55-64 (effective 90 days after enactment). The program will reimburse employers 80 cents on the dollar for retiree claims between $15,000 and $90,000. Payments from the reinsurance program can only be used to reduce the costs borne by the enrollees and dependents. Union workers make up a large percentage of enrollees in retiree health care plans.

In August 2009, Bloomberg reported that “the UAW cited the [$10 billion] provision in an e-mail this week urging its members to support a health-care overhaul…. In the e-mail Aug. 17 urging support of a health-care revamp, the UAW said the plan would ‘provide assistance to employers and Voluntary Employee Beneficiary Associations (VEBAs), to help them continue coverage for early retirees.'” VEBAs are funds set up to pay exclusively for future health-care coverage.

Worth noting: These are the same UAW VEBAs that got 17.5% of GM and 55% of Chrysler in the Obama-directed bankruptcy deals. Apparently, despite being given significant stakes in car companies, the UAW’s VEBA still needs another government handout, notes Fox News analyst James Farrell.

The reform clause benefiting unionized workers is a giveback to unions who agreed to health-care cuts banged out earlier this year by the UAW when the government rescued GM and Chrysler.

Unions shelled out $52 million in campaign donations to President Obama, including $5 million from the UAW, according to reports citing OpenSecrets.org, a Washington-based organization that tracks campaign spending.

The legislation would also benefit private sector workers, although a large percentage of retiree health plans have union workers as enrollees.

Reports indicate the three automakers originally agreed in 2007 to contribute about $54 billion to fund the UAW’s VEBAs, in exchange for agreeing to trim as much as $7 billion in retiree health-care costs annually and about $87 billion in future obligations.

The UAW members agreed to let GM, Chrysler and Ford (F) all cut those contributions, including swapping about $21 billion that was supposed to be paid in cash for equity or later payments, as financial conditions worsened, Bloomberg notes. In return, UAW VEBAs also got 17.5% ownership of GM and 55% of Chrysler.

Critical Theory became popular in colleges across American in the late 50’s and into the 60’s, brought to the country via The Frankfurt School (Frankfurt Germany) at Columbia University. It was right next door to the Columbia School of Journalism.
It was a Marxist school, in exile from Nazi Germany. From the Frankfurt school came geniuses like Cloward-Pevin and the “studies of” classes. (Studies OF African- Americans, Studies OF Women, Studies OF Native Americans and on and on and on…)

Senate Ethics Committee Censures, But Doesn’t Punish, Burris

  44. samiam60 says:

The U.S. Senate ethics committee on Friday admonished a Democratic senator for making “inconsistent, misleading or incomplete” statements about the circumstances surrounding his appointment to the seat once held by Barack Obama.

  45. samiam60 says:

The Senate ethics committee admonished a U.S. senator on Friday for making “inconsistent, misleading or incomplete” statements about the circumstances surrounding his appointment to the Senate seat once held by Barack Obama. The committee recommended no action beyond the letter.

Click here to view the letter.

Sen. Roland Burris was appointed by disgraced former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, who was impeached and driven from office after he was accused of trying to sell the U.S. president’s vacated Senate seat.

The committee cited at least one example, a phone conversation with the governor’s brother, in which Burris linked his possible appointment to the Senate with his willingness to raise money for the governor.

While finding no violation of law, the committee’s “Public Letter of Qualified Admonition” told Burris that “Senators must meet a much higher standard of conduct” than he exhibited with his constantly changing statements.

The ethics committee has been criticized often for failing to go beyond letters of admonition after finding a senator’s conduct had discredited the institution.

Burris commented, “I am pleased that after numerous investigations, this matter has finally come to a close. I thank the members of the Senate Ethics Committee for their fair and thorough review of this matter, and now look forward to continuing the important work ahead on behalf of the people of Illinois.”

Weakened and facing multiple primary challengers next spring, Burris has decided not to fight for a full Senate term next year. Fellow Democrats shun him. Meanwhile, the former governor, Blagojevich, is scheduled to go to trial in June.

The ethics committee was especially critical of Burris’ comments during the Nov. 13, 2008, phone call from the governor’s brother.

While Robert Blagojevich explicitly told Burris he was calling to raise campaign money for the governor, the committee’s letter to Burris said, “you appeared to agree to write a check and even potentially raise money”; and “repeatedly brought up your desire to seek the Senate seat.”

“You also implied that the people you might raise money from would be unhappy if you did not receive the appointment,” the committee wrote. The committee found the conversation “inappropriate in its content and implications.”

The letter also was critical of Burris’ shifting explanations about his contacts with the governor or his representatives.

    The committee found:

–In his Jan. 5, 2009, affidavit to the Illinois House of Representatives, Burris said he did not have contact with Gov. Blagojevich or any of his representatives about an appointment to the Senate before Dec. 26, 2008. Blagojevich appointed Burris to the Senate four days later.

–In his Jan. 8, 2009, testimony before the committee to impeach the governor, Burris — despite repeated questions on the subject — did not disclose having any conversations about his desire to seek the appointment, or about fundraising, with anyone associated with the governor except former Blagojevich top aide Lon Monk.

–It was not until Burris’ second affidavit and subsequent press statements that the senator disclosed additional contacts with associates of the governor.

“You gave multiple and at times contradictory explanations for failing to disclose all your contacts with the governor’s associates, which individually and collectively gave the appearance that you were being less than candid,” the ethics panel wrote.

The committee said that in deciding to go no further than the letter, it considered that a county prosecutor found Burris’ sworn statements had not violated the law.

“We were also aware that these issues surrounding your appointment to and seating in the Senate have been subject to intense public criticism,” the committee said.

The second-ranking Senate Democrat, Dick Durbin, the other senator from Illinois, said, “When we met with Roland Burris in January, we made it clear that in order for him to be seated in the U.S. Senate, he needed to appear before the Illinois General Assembly to testify openly, honestly and completely about the nature of his relationship with the former governor, his associates and the circumstances surrounding this appointment.

“Since then, the accuracy and completeness of his testimony and affidavits have been called into question. The U.S. Senate Ethics Committee has completed its review into this matter and found that Sen. Burris’ actions have brought discredit on him and the Senate. The letter of qualified admonition from the Ethics Committee speaks for itself.”

How much more evidence do the American People need before they realize just how Corrupt this Administration really is?

  46. tellitlikeitis says:

Los Angeles, California (CNN) — Students were occupying buildings Friday on several campuses of the University of California system in protest of a 32 percent tuition hike.

Students had take over portions of buildings on campuses in Los Angeles, Berkeley, Santa Cruz and Davis late Thursday, and at least some were still occupied Friday morning.

Student organizers said they would escalate their protests after the system’s regents approved the tuition hike during a meeting Thursday on the UCLA campus.

University officials said the $505 million to be raised by the tuition increases is needed to prevent even deeper cuts than those already made because of California’s persistent financial crisis.

Protesting students said the hike will hurt working and middle-class students who benefit from state-funded education.

On the Santa Cruz campus, where building occupations began last week at a library, about 100 students staged a sit-in in the second-floor lobby of Kerr Hall soon after hearing of the tuition hike’s approval, according to UC Santa Cruz Provost David Kliger.

Such action, he said, “does little more than divert precious resources while denying others their rightful access to campus facilities and services.”

His campus suffered $50 million in state budget cuts this year, Kliger said.

On Friday morning, UC Berkeley students occupied the second floor of Wheeler Hall, UC Berkeley spokeswoman Janet Gilmore said. Campus police broke through a barricade of furniture and office equipment on the ground floor and arrested three students, Gilmore said.

She said she did not know how many students remained in the building, which was closed. A small number of classes were canceled, Gilmore said.

Authorities arrested dozens of angry students at the Davis campus late Thursday after they refused to vacate the school’s administration building.

The Davis Police Department and deputies from the Yolo County Sheriff’s Department took 52 students into custody, according to UC Davis spokeswoman Claudia Morain.

The arrests at Mrak Hall administration came about four hours after the usual 5 p.m. PT closing time. At one point, as many as 150 students were at the building protesting the tuition increase, Morain said.

UCLA’s Campbell Hall was occupied for several hours Thursday evening, a school spokesman said.

The takeover was not planned or sanctioned by the main protest organizer — the United States Student Association, according to Gabby Madriz, a representative for the group.

The same building was briefly occupied Wednesday night by several dozen student protesters, according to a UCLA news release. The building was the site of the 1969 shooting deaths of two Black Panther Party members during an internal dispute, the statement said.

The UCLA campus was the scene of the largest and loudest demonstrations Thursday.

“We’re fired up. Can’t take it no more,” students chanted as they marched and waved signs at UCLA. “Education only for the rich,” one sign read.

iReport.com: Students march, chant “fight back”

Some faculty members and campus workers — saying they’re worried about possible furloughs and layoffs — joined the students.

“Stop cuts in education and research,” a sign carried by a teacher said.

After the regents voted, students rushed to parking decks to stage a sit-in to block regents’ vehicles from leaving. Campus police and California Highway Patrol officers in riot gear stood nearby.

As one regent member walked out, students lining his path shouted, “Shame on you, shame on you.”

The situation ended without incident as students gradually left the scene.

University executives told the regents the fee hikes are needed because they’ve already made deep spending cuts in the past two years — cuts forced by the state budget.

About 26 percent of the $20 billion spent each year by the system comes from the state’s general fund coupled with tuition and fees paid by students, according to a summary on the regents’ Web site.

The first tuition hike, which will take effect in January, will cost undergraduate students an additional $585 a semester. The second increase will kick in next fall, raising tuition another $1,344, the regents said.

The fee increases are to be balanced by a raise in “the level of financial assistance for needy low- and middle-income students,” according to the Board of Regents.

The tuition hike is expected to raise $505 million for the university system, and about $175 million of that money is to go toward student financial aid, the board said

Climate Skeptics See ‘Smoking Gun’ in Researchers’ Leaked E-Mails

  50. samiam60 says:

Hackers broke into the servers at a prominent British climate research center and leaked years worth of e-mail messages onto the Web, including one with a mysterious reference to a plan to “hide the decline” in data about temperatures.

The Internet is abuzz about the leaked data from the University of East Anglia’s Climate Research Unit (commonly called Hadley CRU), which has acknowledged the leak of 61MB of confidential data.

Climate change skeptics describe the leaked data as a “smoking gun,” evidence of collusion among climatologists and manipulation of data to support the widely held view that climate change is caused by the actions of mankind. The files were reportedly released on a Russian file-serve by an anonymous poster calling himself “FOIA.”

In an exclusive interview in Investigate magazine’s TGIF Edition, Phil Jones, the head of the Hadley CRU, confirmed that the leaked data is real.

“It was a hacker. We were aware of this about three or four days ago,” he told the magazine, noting that the center has yet to contact the police about the data breach.

TGIF Edition asked Jones about the controversial “hide the decline” comment from an e-mail he wrote in 1999. He told the magazine that there was no intention to mislead, but he had “no idea” what he meant by those words.

“That was an e-mail from ten years ago. Can you remember the exact context of what you wrote ten years ago?” he said.

The Telegraph has posted some of the more scathing excerpts from these emails, which the newspaper suggests points to manipulation of evidence and private doubts about the reality of global warming, though the much of the scientific language in the e-mails is esoteric and hard to interpret.

But one notable e-mail clearly describes how to squeeze dissenting scientists from the peer review process:

“I think we have to stop considering Climate Research as a legitimate peer-reviewed journal. Perhaps we should encourage our colleagues in the climate research community to no longer submit to, or cite papers in, this journal. We would also need to consider what we tell or request of our more reasonable colleagues who currently sit on the editorial board…What do others think?”

Jesse Jackson Tones Down Racially Charged Challenge to Black Lawmakers

  63. samiam60 says:

The Rev. Jesse Jackson on Thursday sought to soften his fairly stinging shots at a black lawmaker who voted against President Obama’s health care overhaul.

Jackson on Wednesday night said a black lawmaker “can’t vote against health care and call yourself a black man,” The Hill newspaper reported.

The remark was clearly aimed at Rep. Artur Davis, D-Ala., the only member of the Congressional Black Caucus to vote against the House version of the legislation.

Jackson said he spoke to Davis and assured him of his admiration for him as a leader tackling “a huge challenge.”

“I offer no challenge to his integrity as a leader,” Jackson said in a written statement. “Representatives should all vote their conscience in the interest of their constituency.”

Jackson added, “There is a growing disparity among the black and the poor and we desperately need voices and votes.

“Among the black and the poor, the infant mortality rate is higher, life expectancy is shorter, poverty is growing and unemployment is highest,” he said.

“We need comprehensive healthcare that is more accessible and less expensive for all Americans. The historical Davis journey as a change agent continues and his latest quest deserves the support of the caring.”

For his part, Davis refused to return fire against Jackson after his comments Wednesday night at a Congressional Black Caucus reception honoring the 25th anniversary of the civil rights leader’s run for president,.

“One of the reasons that I like and admire Rev. Jesse Jackson is that 21 years ago he inspired the idea that a black politician would not be judged simply as a black leader,” Davis said in a written statement to The Hill newspaper. “The best way to honor Rev. Jackson’s legacy is to decline to engage in an argument with him that begins and ends with race.”

Sen. Cornyn’s Health Care Reform Alert
    Thursday, November 19, 2009

Last night, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid released his 2,074-page health care bill, which Senate Budget Committee analysis shows will cost American taxpayers $2.5 trillion when fully implemented over ten years.

Until we have had a chance to read the full 2,074 page Reid Bill, it’s impossible for Americans to fully grasp what the Majority Leader has cooked up behind closed doors. It is my hope that Sen. Reid will afford all Americans the same courtesy that he had: ample time to study the legislation and deliberate the best way to proceed.

What we do know so far, as reported by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO), is that this bill will have a wide, negative impact on Americans across the board – from seniors on Medicare to small business owners to future generations of Americans who will be footing the bill. The bill will increase taxes on all Americans by nearly half a trillion dollars and breaks the President’s pledge not to raise taxes on working families earning less than $250,000—at a time that unemployment is at a 26-year high.

While CBO has not been given time to analyze the Reid bill’s impact on premiums, every other independent analysis to date has found that Reid’s new mandates and taxes will increase health care premiums on American families. The Reid bill increases taxpayer spending and liability for health care over the next ten years—instead of reforming our already insolvent entitlement programs. It will gut the already insolvent Medicare program by $464.6 billion, hurting access to care for seniors. It includes a government-run public option that will, according to CBO, have premiums higher than private plans and cause millions of Americans to lose the coverage they currently have. The largest expansion of Medicaid since it was created means the Medicaid program will be the only coverage option for 60 million Americans. It will also impose $28 billion in punitive taxes on employers who do not comply with Washington’s new job-killing mandates.

These initial findings are troubling, to say the least. My staff and I will be pouring over the 2,074 pages, assuming we are given the time to do so. You can access the full text of the Reid bill from my web site:http://cornyn.senate.gov/public/?p=HealthCareReformHQ.

It is essential that Congress take the time get health care reform right. If the President and Majority Leader are more interested in getting health care reform right for all 300 million Americans than they are in putting a political feather in their cap for the midterm elections, this shouldn’t be an issue.

  81. LisaInTX says:

Sometimes the biggest lies come under cover of a truth.

Such was the case this week, when Barack Hussein Obama proffered this observation about deficits: “I think it is important, though, to recognize if we keep on adding to the debt, even in the midst of this recovery, that at some point, people could lose confidence in the U.S. economy in a way that could actually lead to a double-dip recession.”

“Keep on adding to the debt”? From this, one might conclude that Obama has never suggested such a thing, and is truly concerned about deficits.

His revelation came amid discussion of tax reductions engineered to increase employment, as if our Constitution has a provision for that, anymore than for Obama’s other proposals.

Obama is feigning concern about deficits now that there is discussion of tax cuts, which he concludes would increase deficits.

“At some point, people could lose confidence in the U.S. economy”? Like the Red Chinese, who hold more U.S. government debt than any other nation ($800 billion), and upon whom we are depending to fund more of our debt. No coincidence that Obama’s remarks were made while on his most recent appeasement tour in Beijing.

“Even in the midst of this recovery”? What recovery?

Dems Seek Fundraising Boost in War With Palin

  85. samiam60 says:

President Obama’s political arm, Organizing for America, has sent a fundraising e-mail seeking to raise $500,000 in the next week to stop a “dangerous” Palin from derailing the Democrats’ effort to overhaul health care.

  86. samiam60 says:

Remember, this is the person who coined the term ‘Death Panels’ — and opened the flood gates for months of false attacks by special interests and partisan extremists,” the e-mail read.

“Whatever lie comes next will be widely covered by the media, then constantly echoed by right-wing attack groups and others who are trying to defeat reform,” the e-mail said.

Palin began a promotional tour this week for her memoir, with plans to travel through several states that were key to the 2008 election. The memoir was released Tuesday but has topped best-seller lists for weeks.

Her tour has already attracted controversy

The U.S. Army had planned to ban the media from Palin’s book signing next week at Fort Bragg, fearing it would turn into political grandstanding against Obama. But the Army decided to allow the media limited coverage after the the Associated Press and a local newspaper protested.

Insiders who’ve spoken with Palin recently said she seems eager to run in 2012, and opinion polls show she has the most public support of any Republican hopeful.

Among self-identified Republicans in a recent Fox News poll, Palin gets the highest favorable ratings (70 percent) amid a group of other possible contenders for the GOP nomination, including Mike Huckabee (63 percent), Mitt Romney (60 percent) and Newt Gingrich (58 percent). Palin’s favorable score among all voters is 47 percent, up 9 percentage points over last July’s reading of 38 percent.

“Going Rogue” follows Palin from childhood to her departure last summer as Alaska governor. The title refers to her independent streak as a candidate, stemming from complaints within the campaign of GOP presidential nominee John McCain that she had gone “rogue” by disagreeing with the campaign’s decision to pull out of Michigan last October.

    check out Breitbart…. Awww yeah…

Breitbart: There’s a lot of hypocrisy and the dust has settled for ACORN and at the end of the day they’ve recognized that Eric Holder, the Attorney General, has not initiated an investigation into ACORN after we now have seven tapes. There were five initially that came out, ACORN was defunded by the Senate, was defunded by the House, lost it’s link to the Census; while all that damage occurred, Congress didn’t come in to investigate them, obviously not the Attorney General’s office, and they’ve now realized let’s get back into business because they realized that the dust settled and they were not being investigated, it was Hannah, James, and me who were being investigated, that’s why we’ve been forced to offer this latest tape.

Hannity: Are you saying, Andrew, that there are more tapes?

Breitbart: Oh my goodness there are! Not only are there more tapes, it’s not just ACORN. And this message is to Attorney General Holder: I want you to know that we have more tapes, it’s not just ACORN, and we’re going to hold out until the next election cycle, or else if you want to do a clean investigation, we will give you the rest of what we have, we will comply with you, we will give you the documentation we have from countless ACORN whistleblowers who want to come forward but are fearful of this organization and the retribution that they fear that this is a dangerous organization. So if you get into an investigation, we will give you the tapes; if you don’t give us the tapes, we will revisit these tapes come election time.

  91. m2 says:

In September, L.A. Times columnist James Rainey wrote a column in which he uncritically quoted ACORN worker Lavelle Stewart suggesting that she had turned Hannah Giles and James O’Keefe out of her office:

[V]isits to other ACORN offices have gone almost entirely unmentioned. Lavelle Stewart, a fair-housing coordinator in the group’s Los Angeles office, told me this week that she tried to get the “prostitute,” who claimed she had been beaten by her pimp, to go to a women’s center.

“The fact she was not taking the help I offered her made me think something was not right,” Stewart said. “It raised a red flag.”

Media Matters gloated: LA Times report further undermines ACORN videographers’ credibility.

I wasn’t so sure — and I publicly declared that Rainey had likely been suckered and would end up with egg on his face. I wrote Rainey and asked him:

    1) Did you contact Breitbart, Giles, or O’Keefe before writing your column, to ask them about what Stewart said?

    2) If, by chance, you turn out to have been wrong about ACORN in L.A. — if it turns out that ACORN in L.A. tried to help Giles and O’Keefe with their purported underage prostitution ring — will you write another column acknowledging that?

When Rainey failed to respond, I contacted Breitbart (he’s very easy to reach) and asked him. Breitbart confirmed that Rainey hadn’t bothered to contact Breitbart — or Giles or O’Keefe — to ask their side of the story. I asked Breitbart what he would have told Rainey about Lavelle Stewart’s denials, and Breitbart said he would have told Rainey:

As an empathetic being, I urge you to think twice before accepting the word of an ACORN employee for anything. Because every journalist who has done so has ended up with egg on his or her face.

It’s too bad Rainey never received that warning. Because guess who is the star of Giles and O’Keefe’s latest ACORN video?

President-elect Barack Obama announced the formation of a new group known as “Organizing for America” that aims to continue the grassroots advocacy that the former Illinois Senator began in his presidential campaign.

“As President, I will need the help of all Americans to meet the challenges that lie ahead,” Obama said in a video message e-mailed to supporters (and reporters) this morning. “That’s why I’m asking people like you who fought for change during the campaign to continue fighting for change in your communities.”

The new group will be the flagship of “Obama 2.0” as many people have taken to calling the transformation of the political organization created during the 2008 campaign.

The new group will work within the Democratic National Committee — led by Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine — to advance the Obama agenda. “President-elect Obama has laid the foundation to meet the great challenges facing our nation, but we can succeed only if we build grassroots support for the administration’s agenda,” said Kaine in a release announcing the formation of Organizing for America.

The new group had been long expected within Obama’s inner circle and, although no details on how it would be staffed were released by the transition office today, it is expected that longtime Obama loyalists will be placed in charge — following the blueprint set out at the DNC.

It’s clear that Obama recognizes the power that his email list, which boasts more than 13 million names, represents in American politics and is working to ensure it stays within the control of a small group who are charged with protecting the Obama brand.

Reid wants to hold a vote to begin debate as early as this weekend. He has “promised” not to use the procedural tactic of reconciliation, which would allow him to pass the bill with only 51 votes instead of the 60 needed to overcome a filibuster — but experience shows how little we should trust Democrats’ promises.

As for that prized debate, Harkin referred to a Republican call to read the full bill on the Senate floor as a political tactic, and he threatens that Democrats will hold a live quorum to keep everyone in the chamber while the reading is taking place — which sounds awfully like a political tactic to us.

It’s interesting that both parties seem to view the public reading of the bill as some sort of parliamentary game. Perhaps if public readings of proposed legislation took place all of the time, we would actually know what Congress is up to. What a novel idea.

Democrat senators who pride themselves as being deficit hawks will have a tough choice to make in the coming days and weeks. Will they support HarryCare, which makes them look like hypocrites when they face the voters next year and in 2012? Or will they do the right thing and stop this runaway entitlement before it shoots out of the gate?

Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-OR) says that one’s easy: “The very first enumerated power gives the power to provide for the common defense and the general welfare. So it’s right on, right on the front end.”

For those who don’t follow Sen. Merkley’s brilliant explication, he refers to the Constitution’s Preamble, which, among several other things, says that the Constitution was written to “promote the general Welfare,” though the Preamble doesn’t list enumerated powers.

Furthermore, James Madison, primary author of the Constitution, vehemently disagreed, writing, “If Congress can do whatever in their discretion can be done by money, and will promote the General Welfare, the Government is no longer a limited one, possessing enumerated powers, but an indefinite one, subject to particular exceptions.”

Thomas Jefferson likewise stated that if Congress could “do anything they please to provide for the general welfare … [i]t would reduce the whole instrument [the Constitution] to a single phrase, that of instituting a Congress with power to do whatever would be for the good of the United States; and as they would be the sole judges of the good or evil, it would be also a power to do whatever evil they please.” For the simpletons in Congress, Jefferson concluded, “Certainly no such universal power was meant to be given them.” Regardless of what Senator Jeff Merkley says.

Faith and Family: Shut Up, She Explained

Rep. Diana DeGette (D-CO), like every other Democrat, could use a constitutional education. Oddly enough, though, the part of the Constitution DeGette needs brushing up on is the Left’s favorite part: The First Amendment. Leftists have abused it for decades to hammer their agenda into our laws and culture. But they have also intentionally ignored its guarantee of the free exercise of religion. To them, the Constitution is just a scrap of paper written by dead white men. It’s old and irrelevant today except for the few phrases that can be used to promote their socialism.

Regarding the health care legislative monstrosity working its way through Congress and the input of religious groups, DeGette said that “religiously-affiliated groups … should be shut out of the process” because of their opposition to federal funding of abortions. “Last I heard, we had separation of church and state in this country,” she sulked. “I’ve got to say that I think the Catholic bishops and all of the other groups shouldn’t have input.”

As Family Research Council President Tony Perkins observed, “According to her, if a group of people who are in association with one another because of their Christian faith, they should not have a voice in the crafting of public policy. What she is asserting is that if your ideas and actions are a product of your faith, you’re a second class citizen and your voice should not be heard.”

    Bringing the Mountain to Mohammed

“Can you give me a case in United States history,” Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) asked of Attorney General Eric Holder this week, “where an enemy combatant caught on a battlefield was tried in civilian court?” Holder, the chief surrender-facilitator, was outlining to Congress the administration’s latest ploy to appease its über-Left base, namely, moving Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (KSM) — the self-proclaimed mastermind of 9/11 — and four other al-Qa’ida 9/11 planners from Guantanamo to New York to be tried like ordinary civilians in a Manhattan federal court. When Holder hemmed and hawed (“I don’t know. I’d have to look at that. I think that, you know, the determination I’ve made…”), Graham shot back, “We’re making history here, Mr. Attorney General. I’ll answer it for you. The answer is no.”

  117. Kynikos says:

No problem Lisa, my comment were just dribble.

  120. LisaInTX says:

The courtroom is located just a few blocks from what was once the World Trade Center.

What on earth could Holder be thinking? Okay, perhaps we’ve overstated our case a bit. After all, it’s not as though trying KSM in a U.S. court will be seen as a sign of weakness by America’s enemies — oh no, wait: it will. And it isn’t that doing this will put American lives in NYC at risk from potential al-Qa’ida attacks against the “Great Satan” — oh, um, guess it’ll do that too. So much so, in fact, that Sen. Chuck Schumer is seeking $75 million from the administration to cover terrorist shipping and handling. But at least it will keep the line between unlawful enemy combatants and common domestic criminals from blurring … or not. You get the picture.

Let’s also not forget that KSM, et al., will now enjoy our civil justice system’s constitutional protections — the same ones U.S. citizens get. Will waterboarding be considered “duress” for confession purposes under the U.S. civil justice system? How about a lack of Miranda warnings? (Holder refused to answer this question.) What about the federal rules of evidence and their impact on disclosure of sensitive intelligence collection methods? Will any issues be raised on appeal if a change of venue from Ground Zero is denied? These are merely a few of the countless questions that are now fair game for KSM and his lawyers. Eleven months ago, these thugs were ready, willing and able to plead guilty and to get their heavenly rewards. Now? Not so fast.
Before Holder’s decision, another option having a rich tradition in U.S. history and international law had been readily available: military tribunals. In the wake of the Supreme Court’s bizarre decision in Hamdan v. Rumsfeld (2006), which effectively — albeit temporarily — struck down military tribunals, Congress passed the 2006 Military Commissions Act specifically to reaffirm this judicial due process for illegal combatants, including KSM. Unfortunately, that option is now foreclosed.

As it is, whether he knows it or not, the Chosen One is betting his presidency on these trials. That’s because the American people understand one thing: As an illegal enemy combatant, KSM should not be entitled to the same rights and privileges as the innocent U.S. citizens he murdered on 9/11.

If these despicable vermin aren’t convicted, sentenced and put to death, America will not forget who allowed it to happen, “Chosen One” or not. That’s quite a gamble.

    Hurry Up and Wait

Last Saturday, President Obama asked Congress to delay investigations into the attack on U.S. soldiers at Fort Hood by jihadi Nidal Malik Hasan until federal and military authorities complete their own probes. Maybe he wants the investigation on the same timeline as his decision on troop levels in Afghanistan.

Obama asked lawmakers to “resist the temptation to turn this tragic event into the political theater,” apparently wanting to save that for KSM’s civilian trial in New York. Fortunately, Congress and the Pentagon are pressing ahead anyway. In the Senate, Joe Lieberman’s Homeland Security Committee opened its investigation Thursday, and in the House, Rep. Howard McKeon of California, the top Republican on the House Armed Services Committee, said he also will press ahead with an investigation. While Obama has said he is not opposed to congressional hearings, his delay request looks like he’s appeasing radical Muslims and avoiding the obvious conclusion in this case: That the Ft. Hood incident was a traitorous jihadi attack on military targets on American soil.

According to Obama, we have to wait for the current probes to “look at the motives of the alleged gunman, including his views and contacts.” Well, Mr. President, as we recounted last week (Warfront With Jihadistan: Right Here at Home), Hasan had “Soldier of Allah” printed on his business cards, he screamed “Allahu Akbar” while gunning down our soldiers and he exchanged emails with a radical Muslim cleric who encouraged Muslims to kill U.S. troops.

So we already know all about Hasan’s motives, views and contacts. The dead of Ft. Hood deserve justice, but in today’s United States, especially under the Obama regime, that justice may be a long time in coming.

Immigration Front: Amnesty Back on the Table

If you felt an invisible slap in the face over the weekend, it was probably Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano’s announcement of plans to provide amnesty to the 14 million illegal aliens living in the U.S. She explained that everything’s different now that the Southwest border has been secured and fewer immigrants are entering. “[T]he federal government has dedicated unprecedented resources … and it’s made a real difference. … [S]eizures in all categories … are up dramatically.” Just this year over $34 million in cash has been seized.

The bitter 2007 debate over illegal immigration occurred “during a period of historically high levels of illegal entry,” Napolitano claimed. Now, however, with the recession and “better” enforcement, immigration numbers have dropped by more than half. “Requiring illegal immigrants to register to earn legal status … will strengthen our economy as these immigrants become full-paying taxpayers,” Napolitano said. Then, our newly minted citizens can come out of the shadows, join unions and end the cause of strife between them — the fact that illegals work for a fraction of the pay of union members. “Think about it: unions will never achieve the best terms for workers when a large part of the workforce is illegal and operates in a shadow economy,” Napolitano said. She has seen a “major shift” in the immigration landscape that the Obama administration hopes will make it easier to pass the Grand Amnesty.

    2. Obama is so stupid (literally), that he don’t know that the President or chief prosecutor does not give a verdict of guilty & capital punishment prior to the trial; & in the same breath breath, claim terrorist will get a FAIR trial.

Both Obama & the author throw the race card on dissenters perhaps to distract folks from knowing who the real racist is. He photoshoped Palin as KKK, when in reality it was Obama who invited the Black Panthers to the White House.

    Hope ‘n’ Change: Stimulus Games

Folks in Arizona’s 15th Congressional District sure are happy right now. Or at least they would be if that district actually existed. But details shmetails! Obama’s Recovery.gov Web site reported 30 jobs saved or created in the nonexistent district. Fantasy districts didn’t stop there: 15 jobs were created in imaginary Oklahoma districts, 39 in phony Iowa districts and 25 in Connecticut’s fictional 42nd district — all at a cost of almost $30 million. Responding to the “unrealistic data,” the Obama administration cut 60,000-plus jobs from its most recent stimulus report. Office of Management and Budget Deputy Director Rob Nabors hilariously claimed, “[T]hese are cautious, responsible steps to ensure that the information provided to the American people is accurate and reliable.”

One thing all too accurate is the number of Americans losing jobs at an alarming rate. The Associated Press reports that more than 15 million taxpayers — including many retirees ā?? may “unexpectedly owe taxes … because the government was too generous with their Making Work Pay tax credit.” In other words, Uncle Sam goofed in administering a program — unheard of, we know.

    Income Redistribution: Ponzi Motors

In the first volume increase since January 2008, sales at government-owned GM rose 6.6 percent last month. To celebrate the temporary sales bump driven by the government’s Cash for Clunkers rebate debacle — the one that paid taxpayer money to taxpayers who purchased vehicles — GM will repay $6.7 billion of the $49.9 billion in federal aid it received. GM has lost $88 billion since 2004 and filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in June.

Consistent with the circular reasoning so in vogue with liberal visions of funding ObamaCare by taxing ObamaCare, GM is robbing Peter to pay Peter by repaying the government with money from a government contingency fund. While a glaring departure from the usual liberal schemes of robbing Peter to pay Paul, the ridiculousness of GM’s plan is too rich. What’s the logic in repaying taxpayer loans with taxpayer dollars? The astounding size of this automotive Ponzi scheme would make even Bernie Madoff blush.

In other automotive news, Ford, the only American car manufacturer that isn’t beholden to the Obama administration, reported a third-quarter profit of $1 billion. Have you driven a Ford lately?

Lisa, your Big Lie Rant is right on.

What these bozos don’t know (sorry Bozo), or don’t want us to know, is that the word “welfare” at the time the Constitution was written, did not have the meaning it has today.

The definition changed in 1913. FDR tried to make big changes with it, but Obutthole has made the most thus far. Indoctrinated children and adults today believe the newer version of “welfare” is what the founding fathers meant.

    Stupid F-ing morons.

    The Union Label

A 17-year-old aspiring Eagle Scout in Allentown, Pennsylvania, recently spent 250 hours clearing a 1,000-foot walking path in a local park. “I decided to do my part in completing this part of the trail. In that way, others could enjoy walking along the river without having to walk on the busy road,” the Scout said. Who could possibly have a problem with that?

The Service Employees International Union, that’s who. Nick Balzano of the local SEIU said that the union is considering filing a grievance against the city for allowing the Scout to do a job that only union members should be doing. After the city laid off 39 SEIU workers earlier this year, Balzano said, “We’ll be looking into the Cub Scout or Boy Scout who did the trails” because “[t]here’s to be no volunteers.” Of course, instead of voluntarily working on the trail (or Balzano’s grammar), the union will be working on the grievance.

Fortunately, common decency may yet prevail. After the mayor publicly announced his support for the Scout, Balzano hedged, saying that the union will likely “let this one go.” What generosity.

Barack Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize recently despite not having done much for peace during his short (but oh so long) nine months in office. During his trip to Asia this week, he added another trophy to his case. South Korean President Lee Myung-bak presented Obama with a Tae Kwan Do outfit complete with the coveted black belt. It remains to be seen whether the black belt will give Obama the courage to win in Afghanistan or to handle terrorism as an act of war rather than a crime, or even to speak without a teleprompter. Still, the president was grateful, considering that his Tae Kwan Do training has encompassed zero long years. Then again, he does have some pretty extensive experience with bowing…

    Whistle While You Work
    Eisenhower’s Got the Power
    Stevenson’s a jerk!

Good Morning my Fellow Patriots 🙂

  187. VotingFemale says:

That is the hallmark of a Left Wing Loon, Arlene. I ignore their personal attacks on me as nothing but childishness and lack of intellect and bitterness.

Am I offended? not at all… I would have to care about what a Left Wing Loon says… and I don’t at all.

Fact is, Sarah is doing more with her free FaceBook page to take down the Marxists than all of Obama’s and SOROS’s organizations and money and efforts to defend their failing MARXISM and the dropping approval polls and push back.

Sarah is using the Power of common sense to take down the MARXISTS and their failing policies and ideology.

This is historic, and it is Frightening the Moonbats out of their wits!

    arlenearmy says

The lefty Anti-Palin site is engaging in name-calling. When they cant get you on the facts, they result to hitting below the belt by getting childish. It was downright immature on their part.

It’s apparent to me that they are trying to play the race card. Rather than do an article that supports their position, they instead attack you the person.

  188. samiam60 says:

Good Morning VF, you right wing Sarah lovin Conservative Birther, tea baggin, commie hating, Patriot 🙂

Obama will be seeing a Chiropractor on his return to correct his Spine from all the Bowing his lame [girly] ass did this week.

  190. VotingFemale says:

    lol Arlene.

I ran the metrics on his blog… and for a so-called professional blog, it is ranked at 197,000th most popular out of millions of blogs.

That is pitiful for a professional blog which has been active for almost three years.

My free sub-domain blog gets no preferential treatment by Google for visibility in searches as compared to the preferential treatment by Google for professional blogs.

My freebie blog, which only came on line in March of this year, is ranked 202,000th most popular blog out of millions of blogs.

    The numbers speak for themselves…

    arlenearmy says

btw, James Opiko of PoliticalArticles must not be that popular amongst the liberal base … He’s a lonely voice trying to get attention.

Looks like very little participation on his “supposedly paid” blog. He claims to have authored 1780 posts for PoliticalArticles, yet he’s only got ONE comment.

My suggestion to him is that he needs to get a FREE blog at wordpress.

Oh, good, you are up CAT. Last night on TV, they showed people sleeping in sleeping bags in front of the book store. My friends are going up right now to make sure they get bracelets and copies of the book so that we can get in later. My friend will be in line forever!

  200. VotingFemale says:

    Good Morning SamH!

yes, it has been all over FOX News for several days with videos interviews of people waiting in line all night to be one of the first 1000 or 1500 or what ever the limit is for a particular bookstore.

That is the law of supply and demand in action… I have seen folks do this for concert tickets as well…

    samhenry says

  201. samhenry says:

CAT, on my Sarah post you have said:
#1. It is insanity to stand in line for Sarah’s book.

    I meant:

CAT – your #1 is a bit off. It demonstrates that people ARE psyched and WILL stand in line for the book – for something they believe in. He is the less fortunate who will not! It is sarcasm pointed at HIM. I would change it but I think it is a good lead line. I may add – “too bad.”

  202. VotingFemale says:

her book signing in your city is scheduled for today and likely your friends may not be successful in getting their bracelets if they are going down there this AM. I incerely wish them luck!!!

  203. samhenry says:

Revise first paragraph – thanks to your observation and reading:

It’s official. President Obama will not be standing in line to buy Sarah Palin’s book. What a Democratic party poop! “When asked if he would read her book, President Obama said he ‘probably won’t.'” [The Examiner]. At the very least most people of intelligence like to “know thine enemy.” But the point here is – he COULD learn something. Being close-minded is a waste of a good mind.

  204. VotingFemale says:

I will explain why I came away with that impression, dear.

  205. samhenry says:

I realize with sadness that we have made our move too late. People who did not spend the night more than likely arrived this AM around 5:00. It will take Sara and Pete a1/2 to get in there and I just called them.

As Sara said “let’s go back later in the day to be 3 more people in the crowd for her.” I think that is a wonderful attitude – or as they say in Philadelphia ” aaaateeetude!

  206. VotingFemale says:

I just copied your blogpost and am pasting it below… I should have done that before I commented on it at your blog… live and learn…

picture of a turkey to be pardoned:

Unlike Sarah Palin, the President will pardon this turkey.

It’s official. President Obama will not be standing in line to buy Sarah Palin’s book. “When asked if he would read her book, President Obama said he ‘probably won’t.’” [The Examiner]

But if the President waxed a bit casual in the assessment of his future reading list, his Organizing For America reps were hitting the warpath today:

Washington (CNN) – The Democratic Party’s fundraising off of Sarah Palin’s “dangerous” book tour.

“Right now, Sarah Palin is on a highly publicized, nationwide book tour, attacking President Obama and his plan for health reform at every turn,” wrote Organizing for America director Mitch Stewart in a message sent to supporters Friday.

“It’s dangerous. Remember, this is the person who coined the term ‘Death Panels’ – and opened the flood gates for months of false attacks by special interests and partisan extremists. Whatever lie comes next will be widely covered by the media, then constantly echoed by right-wing attack groups and others who are trying to defeat reform.

The group, the president’s political arm at the Democratic National Committee, set a goal of raising $500,000 over the next week “to help push back against Sarah Palin and her allies.” OFA said the contributions will be used to respond to those attacks via ads, events, and phone banking congressional offices. [CNN.com]

Wow! This is huge! One lone woman and her followers are “dangerous” and must be “pushed back.” Never has a President had a ready-made organization at the ready able to spring into action nation-wide at a moment’s notice to handle such heavy opposition.

The Democrats have not learned the lesson of the push back against FOX News. All it does is make life interesting for all of us and garner support for whoever is on the receiving end of OFA’s efforts.

The only “dangerous” thing about Sarah Palin is that her tour is forcing otherwise sane people all over the nation to sit up all night in sleeping bags in front of book stores to be first in line at her book signings. Not just hundreds of people show up; thousands come.

Is Sarah pleased about all of this? “You betcha,” wink, wink.

  207. samiam60 says:

Thank you for this correction this morning VF:

Obama will be seeing a Chiropractor on his return to correct his Spine from all the Bowing his lame [girly] ass did this week.

Perhaps that is why soooo many Liberal men adore him so much.

  211. samhenry says:

Love the song, Sami. I remember the picture starring Liza Minneli where that was the theme song.

  212. VotingFemale says:

my point #1 was an observation of the following in the blogpost:

The only “dangerous” thing about Sarah Palin is that her tour is forcing otherwise sane people all over the nation to sit up all night in sleeping bags in front of book stores to be first in line at her book signings. Not just hundreds of people show up; thousands come.

Folks are not insane who do what they feel they must to obtain what they want.

That their so-called ‘lack of sanity’ re: getting in line for an all nighter, is the only danger Sarah Palin poses to Obama (and the DEM party) just isn’t true.

  213. God, I love Sarah Palin wish I wasn’t in such crappy shape (at this moment) and had my husband home, I’d be there braving the cold, wet, whatever weather. Today is the day to get the bracelet and tomorrow is the signing.

Know why? BECAUSE I WANT TO SEEEEEE Sarah Palin! Of course I want a signed book too, but mostly I want to see her and tell her what a diffference she has made in a lot of peoples lives and what a difference she has made and is making in America.

  214. samhenry says:

Agreed CAT. Only “insane” people will be in line.

  215. VotingFemale says:

Anyone who thinks Sarah Palin’s Popular Power coupled with her Reagan Conservativism is not a Danger to the Socialist Office Holders in this congress and the White House is deluding themselves or spinning reality into a fantasy that she is not a serious and very real political threat, regardless of whether or not she decided to seek nomination for President in the up coming 2012 election. She might and she might not… but she is clear that she is on deck to work for getting Socialists in Congress replaced with Conservatives… and the same goes for the Socialist in power in the White House.

  216. Hey SH, Great Post love it.

  217. samhenry says:

    Wonderful to see you, Warrant.

Here is a bit about the movie for which Saturday Morning was the theme song:

The Sterile Cuckoo (1969) released in the UK as Pookie, is a theatrical release feature film released by Paramount Pictures. It tells the story of an eccentric young couple whose relationship deepens despite their differences and inadequacies, and stars Liza Minnelli, Wendell Burton, and Tim McIntire.

The movie was adapted by Alvin Sargent from the 1965 novel by John Nichols, and directed by Alan J. Pakula.

Much of the movie was filmed at Hamilton College in Clinton, New York. Some of it was filmed in Sylvan Beach, New York.

It was nominated for Academy Awards for Best Actress in a Leading Role (Liza Minnelli) and Best Music, Song (Fred Karlin and Dory Previn for Come Saturday Morning).
    [edit] Plot

Mary Ann “Pookie” Adams (Minnelli) is an oddball, quirky teenager who meets Jerry Payne (Burton) on a bus heading to their colleges, which are near each other, where they have enrolled as freshmen. Jerry immediately sees that Pookie is different, even strange. She lies to a nun on the bus so the nun will switch seats with her. Jerry is beginning to settle into college life with his roommate (Tim McIntire) when Pookie shows up one Saturday morning out of the blue. They spend much time together over the weekend, and before long are seeing each other regularly.

Jerry slowly falls in love with Pookie, but soon their different personality types pull them apart. They began having sex, and not long after Pookie tells Jerry she might be pregnant. After the pregnancy scare is over, Jerry wants to spend spring break alone to catch up on his studies. Pookie begs and pleads to stay with him, and he relents. The week alone with Pookie makes Jerry realize they need time apart, and he tells Pookie this. He discovers she has left college, and he finds her in the same boarding house where she had stayed on the first day she came to visit. He puts her on a bus for home, and the young lovers part.

  218. samhenry says:

The Democrats are, as usual, talking out of both sides of their collective mouths.

On the one hand they say Sarah is not bright; on the other she is “dangerous.” They say this in relation to her views but if they did not think of her as a real threat:

    1. They would not “explain” why they are organizing to go after her.
    2. They would not go after her!

    FOX redux

  219. samhenry says:

sigh… she is not coming anywhere near Boston and I can’t blame her but I guarentee she would see the same enthustiastic crowds here as elsewhere… it is a myth that Massachusetts is all Blue…

McCain/Palin got 34% of the votes in MASS in 2008.

As a result of part 2 of Sarah Palin’s interview with Bill O’Reilly last evening, which focused on Geopolitical Issues, the dialog today is about her stated policies and not dealing with inane subjects about the lame stream media attacks on her, Levi’s Johnson, and Oprah’s dirt digging interview.

CAT I thought the other day when I knew Sarah was coming here that I wished I could get a signed book for you but then we would have to designate a “drop” site on the New York, MA border! AND then you would worry that I was in the bushes watching the pickup. I am clever at times, too and can think the way of a CAT.

  229. VotingFemale says:

What makes it all the sweeter is that, in view of his below comment, Davidjw got his ass flatlined by Team iReport for his going totally postal and spewing his racist hatred of conservatives because of the 9/12/2009 Washington DC rally. The below comment Davidjw posted on my blog which I saved… was one of three comments he made on my blog here…

Davidjw Submitted on 2009/05/15 at 3:21pm

And I will now answer Davidjw’s question… his racist hatred of conservatives played into the hands of the Obama-Suck Up Media Midget CNN who often posted his diatribes on air for political propaganda purposes. CNN loves moonbats, and particularly, conservative (both white & black) hating mouthy black moonbats. I have it on good authority that Davidjw was often scolded in private by Davidw for going over the line with his anger-soaked personal attack comments in his comment logs and was given break after break after break until Team iReport finally determined he was more trouble than he was worth and banned him for life.

Ahhh, I am in a feisty mood today, would not mind a little discourse with DJW. I see the world is still up in arms and divisively divided over Palin.

It is amazing the amount of press and blog attention on Palins new book, I will be very interested in reading the book, (should be at Sams soon), it seems that the left is speaking out of both sides of its mouth once again, they go to great lengths to discredit Palin, but why would the left want to do this if they were not concerned about her success!!

Big day today, I am praying that the Dem’s do NOT get 60, then all this can be behind our nation and the focus can be on putting people back to work, not putting the last nail in the coffin with the expense of this.

What also is puzzling to me, is if you look at the recent actions of the government how can anyone justify putting the government in charge of ANYTHING!

EVERY program our govie is in charge is bleeding losses, and what do they do throw money at the problem, IE; 100 billion or million whatever it was for that senator of which Reid needs her vote….one word

  240. VotingFemale says:

Agreed, Fox… Sarah has blind sided the Leftists… who believed they had killed her off… God were they ever wrong as were moderates, GOP party hacks who are Romney and Huckabee supporters and conservatives who believed the socialists and the McCain campaign operatives had buried her.
