NY-23 race is driving Newt Gingrich & Michael Steel to GOP Changes for the better; Socialists claimed victory, but a Conservative Battle Was Won for America

912 protesters were-not-all-republicans

Reagan Fiscal Conservatives Put Principles Above Party Affiliations. Governor Races in VA and NJ Prove It. The Socialist Radicals are driving the DEM Party headlong over a cliff. Socialism/Communism is UN-AMERICAN.

H/T to my friend Vicki at Frugal Cafe for above graphic

NY-23 race is now giving concrete direction for Newt Gingrich and Michael Steel to make changes for the GOP battle plans going forward.

Though Socialists like Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi claims a victory, that win was a lower case victory for them, but it was an all uppercase VICTORY for all Americans and an earth shaking Conservative Battle Win to wake the GOP the hell up and focus its direction going forward. The dog waged the tail and the tail got the message.

The Socialists can dance all they want about NY-23
Regardless of their spin for folks who give money to the DEM party
they know what we know

It was a Socialist RINO Rout
and a huge step forward for the GOP and Conservatives

What happened in the NY-23 race where Hoffman bucked a Socialist Masquerading as a Moderate Republican was a win for both Conservatives and the GOP. It was a special election for a temporary one year seat and will be back up for a new election in 2010. That it went to the DEM candidate is only a modest issue. That it was a Colossal Wake Up Call for all Conservatives and Republicans is a most serious Victory for America and that is what is no doubt causing sleepless nights now for Nancy Pelosi.

Nancy? Your faux declaration of ‘victory’ is being laughed at by Real Americans, dear, not like Fake Americans like you, Reid, and Barack. Go huge Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez.

Newt Gingrich admitted last evening on Hannity (that is on FOX at 9pm eastern time) that he screwed up big time and that he regretted having not attended to the problem. That if he had taken a solid look at Scozzafava, the Socialist would have not received backing by the RNC and instead would have been prevented from selection as the GOP candidate.

While the GOP is accepting of  ’socially moderate’ candidates, it is not going to accept ‘fiscally moderate/liberal’ candidates.

This was the victory won by Conservatives over the GOP.

He also added that Michael Steel is working on a declaration of principles. That is huge.

Going forward, the Reagan Fiscal Conservatives are again a defining force within the GOP, or else. To focus recapture of the country can not be a battle of extreme social issues… rather a battle of Fiscal Principles.

This is extremely bad news for the Radical Socialists who have hijacked the DEM party… the Obamas, the Pelosis, the Reids, the Barney Franks, and the rest of the radical fringe leftist in office.

That crap is not going to fly… and the real battles, I predict, will be internal DEM party battles, not internal GOP battles.

Article from TheHill.com:

Centrist Blue Dog Democrats might see their position strengthened if Democrats suffer broader electoral losses, one Blue Dog member suggested Tuesday.

Rep. Jason Altmire (D-Pa.) argued that an Election Day rebuke for Democratic candidates across the nation could lead some in the party to rethink their plans on healthcare reform and other issues.

“It looks as though the anger that has been boiling up the last couple of months is going to lead to a pretty high turnout from Republicans and from people who are concerned about increased spending,” Altmire said Monday evening during an appearance on Fox Business Network.

…drawing the obvious conclusions:

“And I do think that if the results show Republicans have a pretty good night, that probably is going to lead some Democrats to think that, going into next year, we need to take a second look at the way that we’ve done a lot of bills we’ve addressed up to this point,” the Pennsylvania congressman added.

    The Madness of Queen Nancy

It’s one thing to be serene under fire, it’s another to be delusional.

More than a few Democrats in Congress are perplexed and worried that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is insisting on ramming through a 1,900-page health care bill on Saturday, just days after her party took heavy losses in Tuesday’s elections. “It reminds me of Major Nicholson, the obsessed British major in the film ‘Bridge on the River Kwai,'” one Democrat told me. “She is fixated on finishing her health care bridge even as she’s lost sight of where it’s going and what damage it could cause to her own troops.”

Indeed, the Speaker’s take on Tuesday’s off-year elections struck some of her own members as delusive “happy talk.” “From our perspective, we won last night,” a cheerful Ms. Pelosi told reporters, citing her party’s pick-up of a single House seat in a New York special election and retention of another strongly Democratic seat in California.

That’s not how many of her own troops see it. Democratic Rep. Parker Griffith of Alabama told Politico.com that members are “very, very sensitive” to the fact that the agenda being pushed by party leaders has “the potential to cost some of our front-line members their seats”

On health care, added New Jersey Democrat Bill Pascrell: “People who had weak knees before are going to have weaker knees now.”

Ms. Pelosi, however, apparently thinks the moment is ripe to use sheer political muscle to pass legislation reordering one sixth of the economy, with zero Republican support. The right mixture of “incentives” and Rahm Emanuel-style pressure, she believes, will bring enough Democrats to heel to vote for the bill.

The obsession Speaker Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid have with passing health care strikes some Democratic moderates as a completely misplaced priority. Polls show that fewer than a fifth of Americans rank health care reform as the most important issue. Their biggest concern right now is jobs. Only 29% of voters in the latest Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll believe the economy “has hit the bottom.”

That’s also the message from Moody’s Mark Zandi, who has become the de facto chief outside economic adviser to the Democratic Congress in recent months and has been telling House Democrats to expect unemployment to be “sticky and stubborn,” remaining near 10% a year from now. A similar warning comes from Christina Romer, chair of President Obama’s Council of Economic Advisers, who predicts unemployment will be 9.5% when midterm elections occur a year from now.

These considerations spook not just the 49 House Democrats who sit in districts won by John McCain last year. Even liberals say lessons need to be taken from Tuesday’s shellacking: “What the exit polls showed was real voter fatigue with how crowded the plate is,” Rep. Gerry Connolly of Virginia, chairman of his party’s freshman class, told the New York Times. “We need to take a deep breath, step back and clean the plate before we add to it.”

That the bill would be a job killer isn’t the only concern. Democrats worry about a backlash from the one-fourth of seniors enrolled in Medicare Advantage — a program that faces steep cuts in both the likely Senate and House bills.

But Speaker Pelosi isn’t about to step back. In fact, she plans to force her troops to vote on health care just one day after Friday’s jobless numbers are due, which are likely to show unemployment still growing. “When I take this bill to the floor, it will win,” she proclaimed earlier this year.

One Democratic House moderate says the leadership has mislearned a lesson from the 1994 collapse of Hillary Clinton’s health care bill. “They believe they lost the elections that year because they failed to pass anything,” he says. “But they forget it might have been even worse if they’d passed the wrong bill.”

The obsession with passing a clearly flawed and overly complex health care bill does indeed recall the classic movie in which Major Nicholson (played memorably by Alec Guinness) convinces his fellow British POWs in Thailand to build a railway bridge for their Japanese captors — losing touch with the larger reality that the bridge would be used by the enemy against his own people.

John Feenery, who worked for then-House Minority Leader Bob Michel, sees many similarities with Congress’s ill-fated rush to pass “catastrophic” health coverage for seniors in 1988. “Like the catastrophic bill, the Democrats’ health care bill frontloads the pain and backloads the gain,” he told CNN last month. Because Democrats wanted to avoid a negative deficit score from the Congressional Budget Office, taxes went up immediately while benefits were phased in. But seniors revolted. House Ways and Means Chairman Dan Rostenkowski was famously chased down a Chicago street by an angry mob. In November, 1989 — almost exactly 20 years ago — Congress took the extraordinary step of repealing the catastrophic health care law.

Should the far more complex health care bill now being debated pass, no one expects it could be fully repealed. But Democrats surely would pay a political price for passing a liberal bill with no bipartisan support. Like Major Nicholson on the River Kwai, they may wake up to find they built a monument to a set of presumptions that were really a form of madness.

I am tired of Congressional hide and seek. I am outraged. This isn’t Congress, it’s a chamber of horrors. Reid and Pelosi are both nuts – he says anything that comes to him and not much does; she doesn’t say much but does things underground. She must have a bunker. I cannot believe she is 3rd or 4th in line to be queen.

What a mess. And they know there aren’t legions of us to keep up with this. Most people are either working their asses off trying to get a job or to keep one. And it is not everyone’s first choice for how to spend time. We are the video game capitol of the world.

It would be real easy to take over this country.

  23. samhenry says:

Here are a couple of ideas on how easy it would be to take this country:

Keep us distracted – even the military – Distribute free video games with prizes to winners.

Offer a free meal at Kentucky Fried Chicken – oh I forgot – that one failed already

Stage local beer summits in every community to coincide with a barbecue and desert contest.

Note two of the above have to do with food! Now for the most improbable: Go to mass per usual and follow the priests and nuns to the local military base with boldt clippers (they will be supplied).

BANGOR — Five protestors associated with an international peace movement were arrested Monday after cutting through three security fences to reach an area where nuclear missiles are stored at Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor.

Cited on suspicion of trespassing and destruction of government property were Bill Bischel, 81, a Catholic priest from Tacoma; Anne Montgomery, 83, a nun from New York; Susan Crane, 65, of Baltimore; Lynne Greenwald, 60, of Bremerton; and Steve Kelly, 60, of Oakland, Calif.

The nuclear weapons opponents were “apprehended in accordance with standing security procedures for incidents of this nature,” according to a Navy press release. They were turned over to the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, cited and released at about 4 p.m.

“At no time was the safety of Navy personnel, property, or the public threatened in any way,” according to a Navy press release.

The protestors said Tuesday that they used bolt cutters to infiltrate the perimeter fence at around 2 a.m. Monday and slipped onto the base under a full moon. They walked along the ridge above Delta Pier and the weapons-handling wharf, then followed a road east to their destination — the weapons storage bunkers.

“We were hidden in plain sight the whole time,” Greenwald said.

Another pair of fences stood between the group and Strategic Weapons Facility-Pacific, where nuclear missiles for the base’s Trident submarines are stored. The protestors cut through them, setting off an alarm at around 6:30 a.m. They were quickly swarmed by Marines.

The protestors held up a banner that read “Disarm Now Plowshares: Trident: Illegal + Immoral.” They put their arms out, gave peace signs and tried to look as non-threatening as possible to keep from being shot, Greenwald said.

Plowshares is an international anti-nuclear weapons movement that gets its name based on scriptures in the Bible that encourage beating “swords into plowshares.”

    From the AP

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Army says seven people were killed and 20 wounded in a pair of shootings at the Fort Hood Army base in Texas. An Army spokesman at the Pentagon says the shootings began about 1:30 p.m. Thursday at a personnel and medical processing center at Fort Hood.

The spokesman, Lieutenant Colonel Nathan Banks, says two shooters were apparently involved. There is no word yet on who they were, nor on identities of the dead.

Banks says the second incident took place at a theater on the sprawling base.

He says it is too soon to tell whether there is any link to battle stress or repeated deployments. The Army is suffering a record high suicide rate and other signs of stress from fighting two wars.

THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE. Check back soon for further information. AP’s earlier story is below.

FORT HOOD, Texas (AP) – The U.S. Army has closed its massive Army base at Fort Hood, Texas, amid reports that several people have been shot and killed at the post.

The Web site of the base in central Texas has posted an alert that says, “Effective immediately Fort Hood is closed.” The Web site said that units at the base have been ordered to account for all personnel.

The site says, “This is not a Drill. It is an Emergency Situation.”

Several television stations in Texas say several people were both killed and wounded in the shooting. Officials at the base and in the nearby town of Killeen, Texas, have not confirmed those accounts.

Fort Hood is located halfway between Austin and Waco.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Companies across the economy are finding ways to do more with fewer workers, dimming hopes that hiring will take off anytime soon.

Employers became leaner and more efficient in the third quarter. Wages, meantime, remain flat or falling. The result is that productivity – output per hour of work – jumped at the fastest pace in six years.

The good news for companies, though, may be bad news for the jobless. As long as companies can get their workers to produce more, they have little reason to hire – at least until consumer spending picks up. And the squeeze on incomes could depress consumer spending, putting the economic recovery at risk.

Still, some economists were encouraged by the productivity report. They say that eventually, employers won’t be able to squeeze more from their staffs. They will then have to ramp up hiring – something that could happen next year, even though the jobless rate is expected to hit double digits.

Productivity rose at an annual rate of 9.5 percent in the July-September quarter, the Labor Department said Thursday. That was much better than the 6.4 percent gain economists had expected. Unit labor costs fell at a 5.2 percent rate.

While companies aren’t doing much hiring, they’re not cutting as many workers, either. The number of newly laid-off workers filing claims for unemployment benefits last week fell to the lowest level in 10 months

The 9.5 percent productivity rise followed a 6.9 percent surge in the second quarter and was the fastest since a 9.7 percent increase in the third quarter of 2003.

The gain reflected that the overall economy, as measured by the gross domestic product, grew for the first time in a year – at an annual rate of 3.5 percent. The higher output came as companies continued to lay off workers. That meant employers produced more with fewer workers.

The 5.2 percent drop in unit labor costs marked the third straight decline and was larger than the 4 percent decrease economists were expecting.

Productivity is the key ingredient to rising living standards. It lets companies pay their workers higher wages. Those increases tend to be financed by increased output, rather than higher costs for products.

But as they struggled with the recession, companies boosted productivity while continuing to lay off workers. Many produced more goods; others kept their output down but slashed costs. Companies kept wages down by freezing pay or imposing unpaid furloughs.

KCEN quoted a source as saying the shooter had a high-powered rifle.

KCEN reported that a policeman was among those shot. The shootings took place in two locations on the base — at the Soldiers Readiness Processing Center and Howze Theater, according to a military spokesman.

  42. arlenearmy says:

I can personally attest that it is not hard to get on Ft. Hood. I went there a few yrs. ago to visit my old unit. We went to front gate & they did NOT check the vehicle. The guards were civilians (NON MILITARY).

The front gate will send you to an admin. building where you gotta show your driver license & auto insurance. Then you get a pass. And from that point you can go practically anywhere on the post.

So for the some of the folks on the news saying that Ft. Hood do security checks in order for non-military to get on Ft. Hood is telling a BALD FACE LIE!!

  43. arlenearmy says:

I can also personally attest that is is harder to get on Ft. Sill, OK than it is to get on Ft. Hood. At least at Ft. Sill they check your hood, trunk & back seat. They also check ID of every person in the vehicle.

  44. arlenearmy says:

See, this is why I have always felt that the military should be the ones at the front gate. At Ft. Hood, the military no longer do the communications. The signal corps darn near disbanded and controlled by civilian companies.

  45. arlenearmy says:

Another thing I’m curious about is, how does the FBI ruled out that is not a terrorist attack. It highly unusual for THREE (3) soldiers to do this sort of thing.

  46. arlenearmy says:

Also, it was reported that the age of the person who got captured is in his 40’s. I realize that the age of solders are getting older nowadays, compared to when I was in the Army. But a person in their 40’s is still NOT the norm for soldier.

  47. VotingFemale says:

Good question on FBI stating the attack is not terrorism. Seems a bit premature but they have one captured shooter.

  48. arlenearmy says:

The general at Ft. Hood is now saying that the shooter were soldiers. I still think something don’t sound right.

I dont see how they can confirm this, when the other shooters have not been captured.

  49. Foxwood says:

Damn… I got busy. Not like I could do anything to help. Pray for the families…

  50. arlenearmy says:

looks like Obama gonna preempt Beck show.

  51. VotingFemale says:

I agree. How can he know this about people not yet captured or interrogated.

There are holes in the information coming from the spokesman, a three star general, at Fort Hood.

    arlenearmy says
The general at Ft. Hood is now saying that the shooter were soldiers. I still think something don’t sound right.

I dont see how they can confirm this, when the other shooters have not been captured.

  52. VotingFemale says:

Ironic a US President interrupts a summit in progress with the Nations of American Indians to discuss the attack on the US Army, in view of the preemptive relationship in the past between the US Army and peoples of the Native American Nations, who suffered greatly at the hands of the US Army.

it is just real damn ironic…

  53. Foxwood says:

I can’t stop my foul mouth when I see or hear the CRAP the SPEWS from OBUTTHOLES ORIFICE! What’s the difference in these soldiers and the ones dying in Afghanistan? WHY CAN”T YOU MAKE A DECISION, MR. OBUTTF*CK!

  54. samhenry says:

The shooter in the US Army was the shooter. He had to have been an expert shooter to have carried out this mission with that kind of weaponry according to one report. It has to have been carefully planned.

It is uncertain of motive or connection to others according to some sources. What is known is that it is unusual for the command at the base to keep so much under wraps for so long – that according to a FOX report.

  56. Foxwood says:

It was also mention that the shooter was a Major. A MAJOR?

  57. arlenearmy says:

I just didn’t feel the love from Obama’s speech. Obama speech was also dry.

  58. arlenearmy says:

That may explain the “age”. Earlier it was said that the shooter was in his 40’s. That pretty long in the tooth.

I heard one report that the shooter had converted to Islam.

It reminds me of the shootings in Iraq and Afghanistan at police and military recruiting centers by terrorists.

  61. samhenry says:

    From HotAir

Update: Hmmmm: “A senior administration official told NBC News analyst Roger Cressey that the suspect who was in custody was an Army major with an Arabic-sounding name. The official said the shootings could have been a criminal matter rather than a terrorism-related attack and that there was no intelligence to suggest a plot against Fort Hood.”

  62. arlenearmy says:

    This is OBAMA’s FAULT !!

Yes, I will say it again. This is OBAMA’S FAULT.

Had Obama taken care of business & taken care of the troops, the solder would not had gone off on the deep end.

As Obama dithers on taking care of business in Afghanistan, the soldiers don’t have any back up from the Commander in Chief.

Soldier would think that Obama would keep sending them back.. over & over…. and all the while the Obama ignores General McChrystal.

The blood is on Obama’s hand!!

  63. Kynikos says:

Drive By, Foxwood your link is not working. Back to following the Fort Hood story!

  64. samhenry says:

Sorry folks but with the dead soldier having converted to Islam, one of the 2 in custody having an arabic sounding name and the fact that there were three of them – doesn’t sound like battle fatigue.

  67. samhenry says:

I saw one report mention “fragging.” I have not heard this term since the Nam war. My brother was an officer and was “fragged” as he went into the dining hall. It used to be attacks on officers by enlisted men. In my brother’s case, someone rolled a live grenade toward him and his buddies as they walked by.

  68. Foxwood says:

Which page is it on Kinky?

  69. Foxwood says:

Obuttf*ck’s comments and Congress’ moment of silence is nothing more than photo op’s, because it hit major news. They do NOT do this for those in Afganistan.

It is more than time for Americans to take a second look at our Muslim Population.

Sorry, but that is just the way it is with me.

  72. arlenearmy says:

Either way, muslim sounding name or not …. PTSD or not, the shooter is said to be a Major. A Major in the Army dont become a Major overnight. The time it takes to become radicalized & the time to become a major, seems to disconnect.

If they were Muslims, them I wonder that makes Obama look like. Obama is believed to Muslim connected. And he dithers on sending more troops to fight Muslims.

Then, on the other hand if its a PTSD (or combat burn-out), it still points back to Obama for reasons I mentioned earlier.

Obama needs to either pull the troops out or give McChrystal what he needs to win. But in any case, Obama needs to stop dithering.

Now that I think of it, it sounded like Obama was dithering in his speech today.

  73. arlenearmy says:

I agree w/you on that. There are far too many Muslims in this country. And they are getting far too many privileges. During the campaign, Colin Powell got upset w/folks who questioned the Muslim connection.

Even Obama prefers Muslims over the regular Americans.

I have always questioned why our military allow so many muslims to join. I remember back in the Vietnam era, that this was as a NO-NO!! Even black soldiers could not join the Black Panthers & were frowned upon if they joined the National of Islam (black muslims). Black soldiers who defied this understanding, were passed over for promotion & failed to get security clearance.

But there’s something real stinky going on w/this recent shooting.

  74. Kynikos says:

Foxwood it is not working on VF’s page or on my MoonBat?? Tracked you back anyway.

Not fragging, they would never do that at a military base UNLESS they were trying to send a global message, fragging happens in the field, and has gone on since Nam.

Too soon to tell as to motivation, by tonight or tomorrow we should know, NOTE: a military lock down on info has been issued, this could go deep, or just a precaution!!

  79. arlenearmy says:

    VF said

And he was recently transferred from Walter Reed.

  80. samhenry says:

It may take time to become a Major but sleeper cells go on for years.

You do make a good point.

Were you military during the Nam war? You don’t look old enough for that.

I will never get past that time in our history. No Muslims, just locally grown radicals that went to good colleges and universities that cost their parents plenty. Then others became Hari Krishna. The cost of raising and educating either of those was very high.

  81. samhenry says:

Vf – my blogpost mentions that – I can confirm that you have heard what I have it was carefully planned. I heard that it takes a great deal of skill and planning to do the kind of shooting that Assan did.

  89. arlenearmy says:

But he had to change clips, even w/9mm. But I can believe a 9mm could do this. However, the news were implying that it was an military issued 45.

  90. Kynikos says:

    10, 15, 17, 18, 20 rounds (92, 98 series)

  91. samhenry says:

I’m proud, proud, proud of you Arlene. And to do so at a time when the military was so denigrated by civilians in this country – that was a tough thing to decide to do. My brother was not and never was a “war monger.” He was an officer and he followed instructions. He also was a good soldier and a good person, like you -and you both love your country.

It was 10 years after they came home that the hometown crowd clapped for Nam troops marching in the Memorial Day parade. I was crying uncontrollably when they did that.

  92. arlenearmy says:

I am also wondering how many folks were in the room.

  93. Kynikos says:

Hey Arlene, I just heard that it could not have been done without additional clips, issue is when was he taken down, and how many shots were fired by the other scumbags. At best he would have to reload several times

  94. arlenearmy says:

I just hope that the military will not be dragged thru the mud over this ordeal.

  109. arlenearmy says:

I just don’t understand why the military is NOT doing security background checks like they used to do. At least that’s way it looks to me.

OOOOOOOOOOOOO… I just heard that the shooter has ALWAYSSSSSSSSSS been Muslim. Shooter’s cousin says that he’s not a convert.

  110. samhenry says:

Hassan’s cousin now being interviewed on FOX. It is a middle eastern family but he was born and raised in US. He was always a Muslim. He was being harassed by others in the military because he was a Muslim and had lawyers working on that. He also was terrified of being shipped over there having heard the horror stories of his patients.

  111. samhenry says:

Congressman’s office says two military men in custody released. They had been detained for questioning.

I don’t think things are so simple. We could be getting a little disinformation.

  112. samhenry says:

Hassan’s cousin got off the phone with FOX when FOX asked country of origin of the family.

Could it be he was Iraqi or Afghan?

  113. samhenry says:

Hassan targeted people he knew according to Kay Bailey Hutchinson.

  114. arlenearmy says:

That cousin sure got off that phone in a hurry, didn’t he!

  115. arlenearmy says:

They say on the news that cops were knocking on doors in Killeen.

Im wondering why there’s NO mention of Copperas Cove. I remember when I was stationed at Ft. Hood, a lot of soldiers & their families lived in Corpus Cove.

There was a section of that post that had an exist that was easy access to Copperas Cove.

  116. arlenearmy says:

Now that I remember it, the majority of the population in Copperas Cove are stationed at Ft. Hood.

  117. samhenry says:

I don’t think the military will be dragged through the mud – really. I think there will be lots of sympathy and support for them.

I think most Americans are appalled that the President has not made up his mini mind about sending more troops. That is murderous.

I think the cousin did not answer the question of Hassan’s family’s ethnicity because it was probably Iraqi or Afghan and he did not want to fight his own people.

  118. arlenearmy says:

You may have a point on the ethnicity. It did catch my attention on how fast he got off that phone, when Shep Smith tried to get more answers from him. At 1st I thought that someone suddenly showed up at his house & he got scared.

  119. samhenry says:

Arlene, I think someone came up to him while he was on the phone and signaled he should get off before he answered that question.

  120. samhenry says:

You know, I recall during Obama’s first week, Nancy Pelosi tried hard to let him know she was the boss when she went behind closed doors with a few colleagues and drafted a bill (refresh my memory, cat). Well, she will be shoving that health care time capsule up our collective asses this Saturday. The bottom line (lol) here is: Put Pelosi in charge of the military. Put Obama in charge of Health Care. We should get better results.

When it was reported that the shooter Major had a bad OER (Officers Evaluation Report), I thought that was unusual because medical officers do NOT normally get bad OER. There was usually a shortage of them. Normally 2LT – 1LT got the boot. Sometimes Captains.

If an officer has less than a perfect OER, then that officer was flagged to be early outed from the Army.

For a Dr. to get an bad OER meant that he/she was deemed worthless or undesirable to the Army. They still get honorable discharges, but there military career is ended.

Just so folks will know – a bad OER is any evaluation that is less than PERFECT.

I hope they hang the bastard!!

  140. LisaInTX says:

I bet he murdered some of the troops preparing to replace the unit that is returning from the ME.
He was transferred from Walter Reed in May of this year…..they KNEW he was a rogue and sent him to Fort Hood to be deployed.
Hasan made the choice to murder and not serve. Why the hell did he join up if not to further the Jihadist agenda?
That he did not want to fight his “Own” kind, then why join the Army? Is being an American have so little meaning to those folks?
I still remember that terrorist that gundowned and murdered those fresh recruits in front of the recruiters office in Little Rock, AR………wonder WHY that story has gone unreported!!!!

The latest in the shooter incident states that the coward arrived at Fort Hood in JULY, not May as I first heard.

  147. VotingFemale says:

    ******* BREAKING NEWS **********

    **********************ATTENTION ********************
The shooter was scheduled to be deployed to Iraq at end of the month; three weeks hence.

US Army says the shooter has been monitored for six months after he posted information on the internet supportive of the Islamic Jihad and compared suicide bombers with soldiers throwing themselves on a grenade to protect fellow soldiers.

The shooter is born in the US of Palestinian parents who immigrated to the US from a small town in Palestine.

The shooter is not dead. He is in custody and in stable condition with multiple gun shot wounds. He is expected to survive and is presently reported as being unconscious and on a ventilator.

Female civilian police officer who stopped the attack by shooting the shooter four times is now reported as being alive and is expected to recover.

One of the wounded victims has died overnight bringing the total dead to 13 and reducing the number of wounded to 30.
Some of the wounded remain in critical condition and the number of dead could rise over the coming days.

There is speculation that some of the shooting victims were hit by friendly fire.

The Fort Hood Lock down has just ended. The event is deemed concluded.

Also reported is the Shooter was targeting specific people he was acquainted with.

It is also reported that shots were fired by automatic weapons and semi-automatic weapons, hand guns and rifles.

It is reported a fourth suspect has been arrested.

Surfacing information indicates shooter was motivated by Islamic hate against the United States, the US Army, and specific members of the US Army. The shooter has a history of poor work performance and being quick to anger.

Two arrested soldiers in connection with the shooting has been released; deemed not to be perpetrators and were perhaps responded to stop the shooter.

The attack is now being characterized as a planned cold blooded act of execution.
A conspiracy has not yet been established.

    AP is reporting the following:

Fort Hood shooting suspect Army major

WASHINGTON — A law enforcement official says a shooting suspect at Fort Hood has been identified as Army Maj. Malik Nadal Hasan.

The official said Hasan, believed to be in his late 30s, was killed after opening fire at the base. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the case publicly.

The official says investigators are trying to determine if Hasan was his birth name, or if he changed his name and converted to the Islamic faith at some point in his life.

The Dead Shooter, a US Army Major is reported to be an Islamic Convert… a Muslim.
The shooter’s race is as yet unreported.
This information flies in the face of FBI statement that shootings are not terrorist related.

    1. shooting injured count updated from 12 to 20.
    2. FBI Agents in route to Fort Hood from San Antonio FBI Headquarters. FBI said their goal to prevention of further loss of life and further injuries.
    3. Wounded count has been upped from 20 to 30 according to Senator Hutchinson of Texas.

It is time to re-think the Muslim population in this country once and for all. If we don’t, well, then we had all better get used to the idea of seeing more and more of these same kind of attacks against our innocent Americans in our own Country.

The U.N. nuclear watchdog has asked Tehran to explain evidence suggesting that Iranian scientists have experimented with an advanced secret nuclear warhead design, according to a report published Friday.

Citing what it calls “previously unpublished documentation” from an International Atomic Energy Agency compiled report, Britain’s The Guardian newspaper said Iranian scientists may have tested high-explosive components of a “two-point implosion” device.

The report said that even the existence of two-point implosion nuclear warhead technology is officially secret in both the U.S. and Britain. The technology allows for the production of smaller and simpler warheads, making it easier to put a warhead on a missile, the newspaper said.

The IAEA said in September it has no proof Iran has or once had a covert atomic bomb program.

The U.N. watchdog’s statements followed reports from the Associated Press quoting what it called a classified IAEA document saying agency experts agreed Iran now had the means to build atomic bombs and was heading towards developing a missile system able to carry a nuclear warhead.

Extracts of the report have been published before, but it was not known the document included information on such a sophisticated warhead, the newspaper said.

A nuclear site, which Iran revealed in September three years after diplomats said Western spies first discovered it, added to fears of secret Iranian efforts to develop nuclear bombs. Iran claims it is enriching uranium only for peaceful electricity use.

The Vienna-based IAEA, Iran’s Foreign Ministry and the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran were unavailable for comment when contacted by Reuters.

Iran tested advanced nuclear warhead design – secret report

Exclusive: Watchdog fears Tehran has key component to put bombs in missiles

The UN’s nuclear watchdog has asked Iran to explain evidence suggesting that Iranian scientists have experimented with an advanced nuclear warhead design, the Guardian has learned.

The very existence of the technology, known as a “two-point implosion” device, is officially secret in both the US and Britain, but according to previously unpublished documentation in a dossier compiled by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Iranian scientists may have tested high-explosive components of the design. The development was today described by nuclear experts as “breathtaking” and has added urgency to the effort to find a diplomatic solution to the Iranian nuclear crisis.

The sophisticated technology, once mastered, allows for the production of smaller and simpler warheads than older models. It reduces the diameter of a warhead and makes it easier to put a nuclear warhead on a missile.

Documentation referring to experiments testing a two-point detonation design are part of the evidence of nuclear weaponisation gathered by the IAEA and presented to Iran for its response.

The dossier, titled “Possible Military Dimensions of Iran’s Nuclear Program”, is drawn in part from reports submitted to it by western intelligence agencies.

The agency has in the past treated such reports with scepticism, particularly after the Iraq war. But its director general, Mohamed ElBaradei, has said the evidence of Iranian weaponisation “appears to have been derived from multiple sources over different periods of time, appears to be generally consistent, and is sufficiently comprehensive and detailed that it needs to be addressed by Iran”.

Extracts from the dossier have been published previously, but it was not previously known that it included documentation on such an advanced warhead. “It is breathtaking that Iran could be working on this sort of material,” said a European government adviser on nuclear issues.

James Acton, a British nuclear weapons expert at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, said: “It’s remarkable that, before perfecting step one, they are going straight to step four or five … To start with more sophisticated designs speaks of level of technical ambition that is surprising.”

Another western specialist with extensive knowledge of the Iranian programme said: “It raises the question of who supplied this to them. Did AQ Khan [a Pakistani scientist who confessed in 2004 to running a nuclear smuggling ring] have access to this, or is it another player?”

The revelation of the documents comes at a time of growing tension. Tehran has so far rejected a deal that would remove most of its enriched uranium stockpile for a year and replace it with nuclear fuel rods which would be much harder to turn into weapons. The Iranian government has also balked at negotiations, which were due to begin last week, over its continued enrichment of uranium, in defiance of UN security council resolutions.

There are fears in Washington and London that if no deal is reached to at least temporarily defuse tensions by the end of December, Israel could set in motion plans to take military action aimed at setting back the Iranian programme by force, with incalculable consequences for the Middle East.

Iran has rejected most of the IAEA material on weaponisation as forgeries, but has admitted carrying out tests on multiple high-explosive detonations synchronised to within a microsecond. Tehran has told the agency that there is a civilian application for such tests, but has so far not provided any evidence for them.

Western weapons experts say there are no such civilian applications, but the use of co-ordinated detonations in nuclear warheads is well known. They compress the fissile core, or pit, of the warhead until it reaches critical mass.

A US national intelligence estimate two years ago said that Iran had explored nuclear warhead design for several years but had probably stopped in 2003. British, French and German officials have said they believe weaponisation continued after that date and may still be continuing.

In September, a German court found a German-Iranian businessman, Mohsen Vanaki, guilty of brokering the sale of dual-use equipment with possible applications in developing nuclear weapons. The equipment included specialised high-speed cameras, of the sort used to develop implosion devices, as well as radiation detectors. According to a report by the Institute for Science and International Security, the German foreign intelligence service, the Bundesnachrichtendienst, testified at the trial that there was evidence that Iran’s weapons development was continuing.

The IAEA is seeking to find out what the scientists and the institutions involved in the experiments are doing now, but has so far not been given a response. The agency’s repeated requests to interview Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, whose name features heavily in the IAEA’s documentation and who is widely seen as the father of the Iranian nuclear programme, have been turned down.

The agency has also asked Iran to explain evidence that a Russian weapons expert helped Iranian technicians to master synchronised high-explosive detonations.

The first implosion devices, like the “Fat Man” bomb dropped on Nagasaki on 9 August 1945, used 32 high-explosive hexagons and pentagons arrayed around a plutonium core like the panels of a football. The IAEA has a five-page document describing experimentation on such a hemispherical array of explosives.

According to a diplomat familiar with the IAEA documentation, the evidence also points to experiments with a two-point detonation system that represents “a more elegant solution” to the challenges of making a nuclear warhead, but it is much harder to achieve. It is used in conjunction with a non-spherical pit, in the shape of a rugby ball, or explosives in that shape wrapped around a spherical pit, and it works by compressing the pit from both ends. The IAEA has expressed “serious concern” about Iran’s failure to give an account of the research its scientists have carried out.

Descriptions of “two-point implosion” warheads designs have occasionally appeared in the public domain (there are extensive descriptions on Wikipedia) and they were first developed by US scientists in the 1950s, but it remains an offence for American officials or even non-governmental nuclear experts with security clearance to discuss them.

Meet the MOBB — Mother of all Bunker Busters
    Wednesday, October 14, 2009

While US Administration officials hope their amicable diplomacy will convince Iran’s mad leader Ahmadinijad to stop his country’s quest for nuclear weapons, the Pentagon is already preparing military options.

Last week, the Pentagon requested from Congress (and received approval) to redirect $52 million dollars for the acceleration of purchasing 4 MOP bombs — Massive Ordnance Penetrators. This 30,000 pound weapon is approximately 31.5 inches in diameter and 20.5 feet long, with about the same amount of explosives inside as Wallis’ Tallboy (5,300 pounds).

These weapons will be needed to help destroy Iran’s underground nuclear program.

he warhead case is made from a special high-performance steel alloy, which lets it survive the high-speed impact into a hardened concrete bunker facility. The MOB’s design helps it maintain structural integrity during that impact.

It is reported the MOBB can take out a bunker 200 feet below ground.

Unemployment Rate Tops 10 Percent as 16 Million People Look for Jobs

The Labor Department says the economy shed a net total of 190,000 jobs in October, less than the downwardly revised 219,000 lost in September.

  187. samiam60 says:

WASHINGTON — Nearly 16 million people can’t find jobs, the Labor Department said Friday, pushing the unemployment rate over 10 percent for the first time since 1983.

The Labor Department said Friday that the economy shed a net total of 190,000 jobs in October, less than the downwardly revised 219,000 lost in September. August job losses were also revised lower, to 154,000 from 201,000.

But the loss of jobs last month exceeded economists’ estimates. It’s the 22nd straight month the U.S. economy has shed jobs, the longest on records dating back 70 years.

Counting those who have settled for part-time jobs or stopped looking for work, the unemployment rate would be 17.5 percent, the highest on records dating from 1994.

The jobless rate rose from 9.8 percent in September.

Friday’s report is the first since the government said last week that the economy grew at a 3.5 percent annual rate in the July-September quarter, the strongest signal yet that the economy is rebounding. But that isn’t fast enough to spur rapid hiring, raising the specter of a jobless recovery.

In addition, many economists worry that persistently high unemployment could undermine the recovery by restraining consumer spending, which accounts for 70 percent of the economy.

One sign of how hard it still is to find a job: the number of Americans who have been out of work for six months or longer rose to 5.6 million, a record. They comprise 35.6 percent of the unemployed population, matching a record set last month.

Congress sought to address the impact of long-term unemployment this week by approving legislation extending jobless benefits for the fourth time since the recession began. The bill would add 14 to 20 extra weeks of aid and is intended to prevent almost 2 million recipients from running out of unemployment insurance during the upcoming holiday season. President Barack Obama is expected to quickly sign the legislation.

The employment report showed that job losses remain widespread across many industries. Manufacturers eliminated a net total of 61,000 jobs, the most in four months. Construction shed 62,000 jobs, down slightly from the previous month.

Retailers, the financial sector and leisure and hospitality companies all continued to reduce payrolls.

But temporary employment grew by 33,700 jobs, after losing positions for months. That’s a positive sign because employers are likely to add temporary workers before hiring permanent ones.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Family of teen set on fire gets apology from suspects’ mom

Fort Lauderdale, Florida (CNN) — She walked to the cameras and could barely look up. With her lip quivering, Sherry Jarvis apologized to the family of 15-year-old Michael Brewer, who is clinging to life in a hospital burn unit.

Jarvis is the mother of two boys who, along with three other youths, are accused in the burning of Brewer. Detectives say witnesses saw Brewer, consumed in flames, run about a hundred yards, tear off his shirt and jump into a swimming pool.

Brewer’s screams can be heard on a 911 call from the October 12 incident. Doctors say he was burned on about 65 percent of his body.

“I’d just like to express how horribly sorry we are,” Jarvis said in a public statement she and her family made Wednesday. Accompanied by her husband and two daughters, Jarvis spoke slowly as she addressed a gathering of reporters.

“This is a horrible incident that should have never had occurred.” said Jarvis, her voice full of sorrow and shock. Her sons, ages 13 and 15, face charges that could send them to prison for a long time.

Authorities in Broward County, Florida, believe that Brewer was attacked in a chain of events that began when he did not pay one of the five boys $40 for a video game. That boy stole Brewer’s father’s bicycle, and when Brewer told police, the youth was arrested, then released, authorities said.

The next day, the group of five teens allegedly surrounded Brewer and, according to eyewitnesses, yelled, “He’s a snitch. He’s a snitch” before one of them poured alcohol over him, another sparked a lighter, and Brewer was ablaze.

All of the boys had been friends since elementary school, authorities said. They did sleepovers at one another’s homes, and their families knew each other.

We pray for Michael’s recovery every day, that he gets stronger, which we know in our hearts that he will.

    –Sherry Jarvis, mother of suspect

“We pray for Michael’s recovery every day, that he gets stronger, which we know in our hearts that he will,” Sherry Jarvis said.

But doctors are unsure about his recovery.

Brewer remains on a ventilator. A machine is breathing for him. Each day, a team of doctors spends about four hours changing his bandages.

He remains heavily sedated and is going through a very difficult period right now, according to doctors.

“The swelling has come way down, and you can recognize facial expressions now,” said Dr. Nicholas Namias, medical director of the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital Burn Center in Miami.

“We’re still dealing with the respiratory failure. We’re dealing with infection now and the need to supply the massive amount of nutrition that this person needs to survive,” Namias told CNN.

“People are writing horror stories … but people just can’t imagine the kind of sickness we’re talking about. He is by no means well … but the expectation is survival,” he said.

Because he is sedated and on the ventilator, Brewer has been unable to communicate with detectives.

Earlier this week, prosecutors were granted extra time to build their cases against the five teens, four 15-year-olds and the 13-year-old. Prosecutors have until November 12 to charge the five as adults, or they will be charged as juveniles and released pending trial later.

The 13-year-old cannot face adult charges under Florida law, but that would change if Brewer died.

Prosecutors want to interview Brewer about the incident, but doctors say that is unlikely to happen before next week.

Brewer’s family was not represented at the Jarvis family’s public apology. The victim’s parents could not be reached for comment.

After making her apology, Jarvis said the family would not take questions from the gathered reporters.

“I don’t have the words to express any more. I can’t answer any more questions because of the criminal case that’s still pending,” she said.

The Jarvis family has received death threats, according to family members and their attorney. They haven’t stayed at their home since the incident, they say, adding that people have been throwing garbage and even dead animals on their property.

On Wednesday, with their attorney at their side, they simply wanted to say to Michael Brewer and his family that they are sorry.

Detectives have returned to the Brewer house, after two dolls were found in the swimming pool. The male and female dolls had been melted together, head to feet.

“At this point, we’re thinking it’s a sick joke, said Jim Leljedal, a spokesman for the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.

“It’s being classified as criminal mischief, but we’d like to know who’s responsible,” he said

U.S. employers cut a deeper-than-expected 190,000 jobs in October, government data showed on Friday, driving the unemployment rate to 10.2 percent, the highest in 26-1/2 years.

The Labor Department said the unemployment rate was the highest since April 1983. It revised job losses for August and September to show 91,000 fewer jobs lost than previously reported.

Analysts polled by Reuters had expected payrolls to drop by 175,000 and the jobless rate to edge up to 9.9 percent from 9.8 percent in September.

The labor market is being watched for signs whether the economic recovery that started in the third quarter can be sustained without government support. The economy grew at a 3.5 percent annualized rate in the July-September period, probably ending the most painful U.S. recession in 70 years.

Payrolls have declined for 22 consecutive months now, throwing 7.3 million people out of work since December 2007, when the recession started.

However, the pace of layoffs has slowed sharply from early this year, when nearly three-quarters of a million jobs were lost in January. In October, job losses were across almost all sectors, with education and health services and professional and business services bucking the trend.

Manufacturing employment fell 61,000 last month, while construction industries payrolls dropped 62,000.

The service-providing sector cut 61,000 workers in October and goods-producing industries slashed 129,000 positions.

Education and health services added 45,000 jobs, while government employment was flat.

The United States Department of Justice has used its own ad hoc definitions of jihad in indictments of individuals involved in terrorist activities:

    * “As used in this First Superseding Indictment, ‘Jihad’ is the Arabic word meaning ‘holy war’. In this context, jihad refers to the use of violence, including paramilitary action against persons, governments deemed to be enemies of the fundamentalist version of Islam.”[127]
    * “As used in this Superseding Indictment, ‘violent jihad’ or ‘jihad’ include planning, preparing for, and engaging in, acts of physical violence, including murder, maiming, kidnapping, and hostage-taking.”[128] in the indictment against several individuals including José Padilla.

In her book Muhammad: a Biography of the Prophet, B.A. Robinson writes:

“Fighting and warfare might sometimes be necessary, but it was only a minor part of the whole jihad or struggle.”[129]

Maxime Rodinson, an Orientalist, wrote that “Jihad is a propagandistic device which, as need be, resorts to armed struggle – two ingredients common to many ideological movements.”[130]

In English-speaking countries, especially the United States, the term jihadist, technically a derogatory term for mujahid, is frequently used to describe militant Islamic groups, including but not restricted to Islamic terrorism.

  197. LisaInTX says:

Islamic terrorism is the common term for violence,[1] rooted on Islamic fundamentalism, and aimed at defending, or even promoting, Islamic culture, society, and values in opposition to the political, allegedly imperialistic, and cultural influences of non-Muslims, and the Western world in particular (cf. “Dar al-Harb”).[2][3]

There are also political dimensions to the ideology, and the history of Western influence and control after the fall of the Ottoman Empire in 1918, is the common stated reason used within the ideology to justify and explain its use of violence as resistive and retributive against Western, non-Muslim imperialism and political influence.

Islamic terrorist acts have included airline hijacking, kidnapping, assassination, suicide bombing, and mass murder.[4][5][6] The most prominent act attributed to Islamic terrorism is the hijacking of commercial passenger airliners and their use in the destruction of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, in the United States, which claimed 2,998 lives. The United States responded by declaring a “war on terrorism”.[7]

I am working on a new blog post.

between 30,000 and 50,000 people decended on congress yesterday and rocked the house… both inside the congressional halls and outside with chants… and those chants were clearly heard in the congressional offices.

congress is on notice… vot for ObamaCare and you are finished as a member of congress.

Today marks the start of the 2010 election year for congress… and unemployment hits 10.2%

We could be under nuclear attack and Pelosi would ignore it and demand passage of ObamaCare. She is a monster out of control

    Islam condems killing of innocents…

define innocent in the eyes of Islam.

the religion condones and encourages killing and is the sole judge of innocence.

Good morning folks….I just popped by to share what , in my opinion is REALLY going on.
The Major was pissed at his low evals, and was mad that he was about to deploy—and ‘serve” the country that had paid for his education and put him thru college.
He being an arrogant bastard of a coward, decided that since he did not want to serve the ‘Great Satan”, instead choose to murder as many of his fellow soldiers as possible so they could not deploy and ‘kill’ those Jihadist that believed as he did.

The “Target” was soldiers preparing to deploy!!

I look forward to this cowards HANGING!!!!
And I mean literally—-like was done to Sadam Hussan!

I got fences to put up—–gotta run

Hope everyone has a good day.

I forgot to add that your report was RIGHT ON the MARK!!!

“Reagan Fiscal Conservatives Put Principles Above Party Affiliations. Governor Races in VA and NJ Prove It. The Socialist Radicals are driving the DEM Party headlong over a cliff. Socialism/Communism is UN-AMERICAN.”

  203. LisaInTX says:

I’m glad your husband was okay. This has been such a shock beyond words.

  204. Kynikos says:

Morning rabble, does anyone else find it strange that we now have a sole shooter?? Initital reports (eyewitness) are generally pretty accurate. What would the motivation be ( I have my doubts) for the military to state this was an individual act?? Regardless, this attack, is hard to swallow, 13 dead and 30 wounded, by a lone gunman??? He must have been one hell of a shot, and had a lot of ammo!

  205. LisaInTX says:

The servicing area is large with a huge waiting area…..they even have ropes set up for the lines……
I think it could easily hold 100 people at one time……

When we went there a few months back, the soldier waiting line was all the way outside a set of double glass doors…..and as many as 50 were seated inside……

Hasan KNEW this and targeted those getting ready to deploy–IMO.
This WAS and IS a Terrorist act as defined by our own government!!!!

    Obama’s Frightening Insensitivity Following Shooting
A bad week for Democrats compounded by an awful moment for Barack Obama.

President Obama didn’t wait long after Tuesday’s devastating elections to give critics another reason to question his leadership, but this time the subject matter was more grim than a pair of governorships.

After news broke out of the shooting at the Fort Hood Army post in Texas, the nation watched in horror as the toll of dead and injured climbed. The White House was notified immediately and by late afternoon, word went out that the president would speak about the incident prior to a previously scheduled appearance. At about 5 p.m., cable stations went to the president. The situation called for not only his trademark eloquence, but also grace and perspective.

But instead of a somber chief executive offering reassuring words and expressions of sympathy and compassion, viewers saw a wildly disconnected and inappropriately light president making introductory remarks. At the event, a Tribal Nations Conference hosted by the Department of Interior’s Bureau of Indian affairs, the president thanked various staffers and offered a “shout-out” to “Dr. Joe Medicine Crow — that Congressional Medal of Honor winner.” Three minutes in, the president spoke about the shooting, in measured and appropriate terms. Who is advising him?

Anyone at home aware of the major news story of the previous hours had to have been stunned. An incident like this requires a scrapping of the early light banter. The president should apologize for the tone of his remarks, explain what has happened, express sympathy for those slain and appeal for calm and patience until all the facts are in. That’s the least that should occur.

Indeed, an argument could be made that Obama should have canceled the Indian event, out of respect for people having been murdered at an Army post a few hours before. That would have prevented any sort of jarring emotional switch at the event.

Did the president’s team not realize what sort of image they were presenting to the country at this moment? The disconnect between what Americans at home knew had been going on — and the initial words coming out of their president’s mouth was jolting, if not disturbing.

It must have been disappointing for many politically aware Democrats, still reeling from the election two days before. The New Jersey gubernatorial vote had already demonstrated that the president and his political team couldn’t produce a winning outcome in a state very friendly to Democrats (and where the president won by 15 points one year ago). And now this? Congressional Democrats must wonder if a White House that has burdened them with a too-heavy policy agenda over the last year has a strong enough political operation to help push that agenda through.

If the president’s communications apparatus can’t inform — and protect — their boss during tense moments when the country needs to see a focused commander-in-chief and a compassionate head of state, it has disastrous consequences for that president’s party and supporters.

All the president’s men (and women) fell down on the job Thursday. And Democrats across the country have real reason to panic.
