Barack Obama now has a new list of Enemies: the Progressives who put him in office

obama down trodden

Barack Obama now has a new list of enemies, the “Progressive” Leftists (Marxists) who put him in office.

They don’t care about Obama, the politician, who understands what they refuse to accept: Socialist/Communism don’t float in this country.

While I firmly believe that Obama is absolutely a genuine Marxist, I also believe Obama knows failure when he sees it.

Obama knows that the “Progressive” Socialism Movement has failed to shove the ObamaCare bill through Congress before the American Public could to get their heads wrapped around it and react to it.

The inevitable reaction is in the way Centered America always reacts to such attempts to rewire America into a Socialist/Marxist run country.

The “Progressive” (meaning MARXIST) end run to topple capitalism has FAILED TO LAUNCH and additionally has Aroused a Sleeping Angry Giant, meaning The Politically Middle America. Much of the Politically Right America was already awakened and reacting.

Calling Politically Middle America Astroturf Racist Hate-Mongering Gangs funded by special interest groups, just further aroused and infuriated that Sleeping Giant and filled him with a Terrible Resolve.

Ohhh, but that Political War is not over… It will NEVER be over.

However, this all but completed Battle Win against the Lowball Congressional end run by the “Progressives” (MARXISTS) is now even being acknowledged by the likes of Keith Olbermann, who has been blogging on the subject of who to pick to run against Obama in 2012 for DEM nomination for president.

The “Progressives” (MARXISTS) will eat their young and what has spawned in recent days is proof of that.

Last year the “Progressives” (MARXISTS) turned on Hillary Clinton, a Liberal Centrist, for the sake of getting Obama on the ticket for one reason only… Obama was dumb enough to be the puppet for their All Out Preemptive Socialist Strike to install Socialism/Communism in America. He had been prepped for the task starting in childhood.

Obama was not the failure…
The Failures are
The Shadow Progressives (MARXISTS)

If Obama is anything, he is a realist. He knows the failure is complete and he will suffer as the Whipping Boy of his former pals, The “Progressives” (MARXISTS) who want what they want no matter the cost and no matter the tactics to get it.

Wanting and Having are Two Separate Things,
Oh Ye “Progressive” (MARXIST) Thugs

But still, the “Progressives” (MARXISTS) will take their vengeance on non-politicians like Glenn Beck, Michelle Malkin, Rush Limbaugh. They have all but given up on Palin Bashing because they overplay their hand and Sarah Palin earned creditability, the ear, and support of more Americans that does Obama.

Meanwhile… the RINOS are grazing with the Progressives (MARXISTS).

Oh the Irony of it all…

They haven’t indoctrinate enough kids yet. But they think if they can kill off the old folk, they can pass a “democratic” vote of Communism in, just like they did in Venezuela.

  2. Foxwood says:

“The town hall meetings are the first step in a peaceful rebellion. The dissent will grow more and more in my opinion because Obama will try to ram more and more down our throats. I believe Obama and company are doing this by design to create some kind of public insurrestion to which he will institute martial law, suspend the constitution, and create a dictatorship. If that happens all bets are off.”

I do believe we may see martial law. I don’t think he as the means to enforce anything tho.

Very Good Foxwood, You are spot on. I believe Obama & company are following the Venezuelan model of Hugo Chavez’s communist/democracy and they want to use that as an example to set up the same here..

Foxwood, The one thing you have to remember is the Chinese have a hugh vested interested in this country and they cannot allow this country to fail or fall into anarchy. I believe that if all hell were to break loose here you would be seeing Chinese troops landing on our shores in a short period of time and their sheer numbers would overwhelm any opposition. This is how they could achieve their goal.

  5. tellitlikeitis says:

The Chinese own a hugh portion of our debt. It’s just a matter of time before they cash in their chips and claim their prize the United States. If we can’t pay up they will just take us over. Statement on the Current Health Care Debate
    Friday, August 7, 2009 at 1:26pm

As more Americans delve into the disturbing details of the nationalized health care plan that the current administration is rushing through Congress, our collective jaw is dropping, and we’re saying not just no, but hell no!

The Democrats promise that a government health care system will reduce the cost of health care, but as the economist Thomas Sowell has pointed out, government health care will not reduce the cost; it will simply refuse to pay the cost. And who will suffer the most when they ration care? The sick, the elderly, and the disabled, of course. The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama’s “death panel” so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their “level of productivity in society,” whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil.

Health care by definition involves life and death decisions. Human rights and human dignity must be at the center of any health care discussion.

Rep. Michele Bachmann highlighted the Orwellian thinking of the president’s health care advisor, Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, the brother of the White House chief of staff, in a floor speech to the House of Representatives. I commend her for being a voice for the most precious members of our society, our children and our seniors.

We must step up and engage in this most crucial debate. Nationalizing our health care system is a point of no return for government interference in the lives of its citizens. If we go down this path, there will be no turning back. Ronald Reagan once wrote, “Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we’ll ever see on this earth.” Let’s stop and think and make our voices heard before it’s too late.

Or submit a 300 pages 15 min prior to vote, or basically, I think they will just submit white paper with broad generalizations and fabricate and fashion and engineer a Marxist anti-American people killing machine with gov’t to rival the NHS and cement the dictator in Chief.

all against the will of the people.

we know what Obama will feign tonight… my question is, will Pelosi cheerlead again? Because that in and of itself will make him look terribly UN COOL..

The convenient fantasies of President Obama
    By: Michael Barone
    Senior Political Analyst
    September 9, 2009

The resignation over the Labor Day weekend of White House “green jobs” czar Van Jones tells you some interesting things about the Obama administration. One of them is that a man who proclaimed himself a “communist” in the 1990s and signed 9/11 “truther” petitions suggesting Bush administration complicity in the Sept. 11 attacks was considered fit for a White House appointment. Liberal columnists have been attacking Republicans because some of their voters are “birthers,” believers in the absurd charge that President Obama was not born in Hawaii and thus is not a natural-born U.S. citizen. But they have failed to identify any “birther” who occupied a position in the Republican firmament comparable to that of “truther” Van Jones in the Obama administration.

Another interesting thing about Jones is that the administration seems enamored of his “green jobs” concept. There’s an understandable political reason. Legislation to restrict carbon emissions that is supported by the administration would undoubtedly kill a large number of jobs by increasing the cost of energy, and so you can see why its advocates might want to argue that there will be a compensating number of “green jobs” created — at least if the government spends a lot of money on them.

But this sounds like fantasy. If there were money to be made in green jobs, private investors would be creating them already. In fact big corporations like General Electric are scrambling to position themselves as green companies, gaming legislation and regulations so they can make profits by doing so. Big business is ready to create green jobs — if government subsidizes them. But the idea that green jobs will replace all the lost carbon-emitting jobs is magical thinking.

Obama’s approach to health care legislation, unless he makes a major course correction in his speech to the joint session of Congress tonight, is of a piece with his hiring of Van Jones. By ceding the task of writing legislation to congressional Democratic leaders and committee chairmen, he has been following a “no enemies to the left” strategy.

By refusing to rule out the government option — which its architects see as the road to a single-payer government insurance system — Obama has prevented the emergence of a set of policies that have a chance of passing the Senate. The Senate Republicans in the “gang of six” who have been negotiating with Senate Finance Chairman Max Baucus are not going to agree on a bill without assurance from the White House that they won’t get rolled by hard-left House Democrats in conference committee.

Yesterday Baucus came out with his own plan, which includes a tax on high-value health insurance policies. But this is likely to be rejected by the Left, by labor unions that have negotiated such benefits from employers, and by members of Congress from states like New York, where, because of state policies, almost all health insurance costs that much.

There is an element of convenient fantasy as well in Obama’s health care statements to date. We are going to save money by spending money. We are going to solve our fiscal problems with a program that will increase the national debt by $1,000,000,000,000 over a decade. We are going to guarantee you can keep your current insurance with a bill that encourages your employer to stop offering it.

The list goes on. We are going to improve health care for seniors by cutting $500,000,000,000 from Medicare. We aren’t going to insure illegal aliens, except that we won’t have any verification provisions to see that they can’t apply and get benefits.

Most politicians like to promise voters all good things at once. Democrats got in the habit of doing this over the past 14 years when they could not pass legislation by themselves. Van Jones’ moment in the White House is over. Exposure of his record in conservative media made him politically unacceptable, even though mainstream outlets like the New York Times ignored the issue entirely.

The Democrats’ health insurance bills remain under consideration, and with large majorities in both houses, passage of some bill cannot be ruled out. But August town hall meetings and national polls have put the Democrats on the defensive. No-enemies-to-the-left and convenient fantasies may work in Chicago. They don’t work so well when your constituency is the whole United States.

  20. Foxwood says:

“liberalism: defies logic and common sense and represents a utopian fantasy.”

Communists and Socialists use their fantasies and lack of common sense to get these idiots in their grasps to do their bidding and overturn our “rule of law” that is our Constitution. They don’t think. If they did, they would see that Soros, Teresa Heinz Ketchup and other elites do what the idiots hate Conservatives for.

Millions More Foreclosures Coming, Treasury Warns

Only 12 percent of U.S. homeowners eligible for loan modifications under the Obama administration’s housing rescue plan have had their mortgages reworked, and millions more foreclosures are coming, the Treasury Department said Wednesday.

A Treasury report showed 360,165 people had their monthly payments reduced through August, up from 235,247 through July, but a senior Treasury official conceded much more must be done to soften the impact of a severe and prolonged housing crisis.

Treasury has begun releasing monthly reports on the loan modification program, called the Home Affordable Modification Program or HAMP.

In July, it said that just 9 percent of the estimated number of homeowners eligible had had their loans modified, so Treasury’s assistant secretary for financial institutions, Michael Barr, was able to claim modest progress in August.

He told a House Financial Services subcommittee that the program launched in February, which brings banks and loan servicers together with at-risk homeowners, was on target to help a half million Americans homeowners by Nov. 1.

But that is a small start on a huge problem at the heart of U.S. economic woes.

Barr said that “even if HAMP is a total success, we should still expect millions of foreclosures” as administration and industry efforts continue to stabilize a crisis-stricken housing sector.

Barr said a strong housing market was “crucial” to a sustained U.S. economic recovery and described the slump in prices and demand in the housing sector as being “at the center of our financial crisis and economic downturn.”

He noted that analysts anticipate more than six million Americans could lose their homes in the next three years.

“Much more remains to be done and we will continue to work with other agencies, regulators and the private sector to reach as many families as possible,” Barr said.

The Treasury report showed that some lenders had not helped any of their borrowers who were eligible for loan modifications. Others had helped varying numbers of those who were 60 or more days delinquent on their mortgages, ranging up to 100 percent for one bank that only had one eligible borrower.

Nothing has changed. In the summer of 2009 we’re overwhelmed with stories about the death of the most notable trainee since Elagabalus, followed in short order by solemn meditations on the demise of a criminal politician, along with a few sidebars devoted to the imperial vacation at Martha’s Vineyard. And oh yeah — Michelle’s shorts. How could I have overlooked them? But none of that, needless to say, will go into the books. The real story this summer, the one that the scholars will be pondering for decades to come, concerns the absolute collapse of the American messiah.

The age of Obama was to be a time of sweeping, an epoch of transformation. When he strode across our horizon, nothing would remain unchanged.

Now, unless I’ve been paying too much attention the New York Dolls reunion to notice, nothing of the sort has occurred. It’s been a dull summer on the messiah front. In fact, Obama’s performance so far has been dramatically below average even for the sorry run of mortal presidents. We have, in the past few months, witnessed one of the great anticlimaxes of political history. The god-emperor has failed, and no one can deny it.

Obama’s template was the New Deal. The country was in a similar state of crisis, enduring the worst economic slump since the 30s (or the 70s, or the medieval depression, depending on who you talked to). Desperate voters were willing to accept measures that they would have found intolerable at any other time. As in 1933, there existed a brief window for dramatic transformation, one that might not reappear for generations.

The New Deal was intended, if not by FDR himself, then by the Brain Trust, specifically Adolf Berle and Rexford G. Tugwell, as a means of reworking American society from the ground up. Both men believed they could recast the U.S. in the mold of fascist Italy and the Soviet Union, but without such unappealing features as concentration camps, massacres, artificial famines, and the like.

Nothing actually came of this. Both major aspects of the New Deal, the National Recovery Act (NRA) and the Agricultural Assistance Administration (AAA), were already failing when they were shut down by the Supreme Court in 1935 and 1936 respectively (possibly the most effective exercise of separation of powers in American history). The New Deal continued as a kind of national workfare program, with various “alphabet agencies” such as the WPA and PWA providing make-work jobs for millions across the country. Even that failed in 1937 with the second market crash — the one usually left out of casual histories of the Depression due to the fact that it can be blamed on no one other than Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Despite its failures, the New Deal remains liberalism’s peak, one that they have been trying to retrieve for 75 years and more — that golden moment in 1933 when they had the world in a vise and all things seemed possible. That’s what Camelot was actually all about, and the Great Society as well. Every single Democratic president (with the exception of Harry Truman, too practical and cynical to buy into any such “horse manure”) was held up as the great hope who would bring the dream to pass. Obama is simply the latest in a long line.

Obama was supposed to redeem the promises of the New Deal and then some. He could make it work. He had the mojo. He was the One. A god-emperor for the new millennium, the Yankee Augustus who would set down the new pattern for American society for centuries to come.

Well… maybe not this millennium. There’s a list floating around the Net, comprised of Obama’s achievements thus far, all the “major legislation” overseen by the messiah. It’s intended to demonstrate that the new age is too coming to pass, that the Great Work is unfolding right on schedule. This list looks like this:

    • Cash for Clunkers Extension
    • Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act
    • Credit Card Accountability, Responsibility, and Disclosure (CARD) Act of 2009
    • Weapons Systems Acquisition Reform Act
    • Helping Families Save Their Homes Act
    • Fraud Enforcement and Recovery Act
    • Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act
    • Omnibus Public Lands Management Act
    • Small Business Act Temporary Extension
    • American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
    • DTV Delay Act
    • Children’s Health Insurance Reauthorization Act
    • Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act

Now, the first thought that comes to mind is the word “boilerplate”. Tobacco control? Public lands management? What other word is there? Throw in the standard Democratic “fair pay” effort, the customary spank-the-Pentagon bill, the “Serve America” bill (not, considering the name attached to it, one devoted to Washington, D.C. waitresses), and we’re almost halfway through the list. Adding the “DTV Delay Act”, which reset the date for introducing digital TV signals — it took me a minute, too — and the credit card act and we’re there. This is the lamest, dumbest, most useless list of “major legislation” since the heyday of Warren G. Harding. World-changing political revolution, it is not.

The only two acts of any interest are Cash for Clunkers and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, AKA the “stimulus.” Cash for Clunkers has been widely hailed as a success, with auto sales rising across the board (except, interestingly enough, for Obama trophies GM and Chrysler, which slid 20% and 15% respectively). But falling auto sales over the past week have revealed that the program merely “pulled ahead” sales that would have occurred later in the fall in any case. Clunkers will simply go on record as a novel application of that ancient Democratic doctrine of robbing Peter to pay Paul.

As for the stimulus… the revelation that it’s going to cost somebody another 2 trillion ten years from now has smoothly dovetailed with news that national unemployment is edging the 10% mark, the very outcome the stimulus was supposed to prevent. As a payoff to Democratic supporters the stimulus is a grand success. As a national rescue effort, it is worse than useless, with the rescuees themselves being the ones left holding the bag. In this case, Peter is being robbed to pay Peter. Nicely done.

But where are all the blockbusters, the bills that were going to send the evil GOP, polluters, reactionaries, and AT writers running for high ground? Where is FOCA? The climate-change bill? Nationalization of health care?

We know where they are — they’re in limbo.

Obama’s revolution was divided into three major parts — government takeover of large industrial sectors, the imposition of a Green ideology to justify government intervention on any scale, and federal takeover of the health-care industry. Once these steps were taken, the result would be state control of American society on an unprecedented scale, along with a state-approved ideological superstructure (environmentalism) to act as the framework for the new system. All this was supposed to be carried out with military swiftness, within weeks or months of Obama’s inauguration, before any questions could be asked or opposition mounted.

Thanks to the recession, the takeover of the auto and financial industries went relatively smoothly. The problem lay in the follow-through. GM, the jewel in the government’s crown, has staked its fortunes on an economy model car that, since it is powered by battery, happens to cost $40,000, twice as much as any other economy car (it also requires a total battery replacement halfway through its operating lifespan amounting to at least another $16,000. So let’s round it off to $60,000 — three times what any other economy car costs.) Since the Volt can be marketed only to the extremely wealthy clinically insane — not an enormous market — it’s obvious that GM can be kept afloat only by subsidies, which will end at the same time that Democratic hegemony does. (We’ll skip over as irrelevant GM’s $4,000 minicar that cannot be sold in the U.S. — India has been marketing such a car for even less.)

As for the financial industry, much as Treasury Department officials have amused themselves with the fantasy that they are “in control”, the bankers have proceeded to do exactly what they please, including paying each other extravagant bonuses, refusing to release funds for the loan markets, and soaking up government subsidies to pay off past losses. Stalin would have had them shot, an alternative currently not open to the Obamiate. I think we can write off industrial centralization.

Cap & Trade, AKA the Waxman-Markey Act, was to be the Trojan horse for Green ideology, an attempt to make environmentalism the basis of most domestic government activity. It was considered an easy sell, with “global warming” having become as key an element of liberalism as gun control and abortion. But when the provisions of Waxman-Markey became known, particularly those implying the shutdown of most American industry to leave the populace living in holes dug in hillsides and chewing bark off trees, the bloom was suddenly off the Green rose. Rising in their mighty fury, the Blue Dogs forced the bill to be set aside. It’ll be passed eventually though. Next year, maybe. Or after the glaciers recede. We’ll see.

    Scratch the new American ideology.

We now turn to health care. The Mary Jo Kopechne Health Care Reform Act of 2009 would have made Obama into a benevolent god-emperor on the most titanic scale. The bill appeared to be evolving into an Obama version of the NRA, with federal control extended into new areas on all levels of society and every Americans subject to some measure of bureaucratic interference from womb to tomb. It would be the closest that a third-millennial American leader could come to the absolute life-and-death rule of the pre-modern ruler, the act that would turn Barack Obama into an American Caesar. (Would all presidents coming after him have to add “Barack” to their names following their inauguration? Just wondering…)

Then came the town halls, and Sarah Palin’s revelation that the bill as written would open the door to euthanasia, and the death of Ms. Kopechne’s chauffeur, which together served to send the entire effort crashing. The other week none other than Russ Feingold, who yearns for such a bill the way that Gilgamesh yearned for immortality, announced to his constituents that it will not come up for a vote until the end of the year, if then. Delays involving such efforts usually mean that they’re finished, at least as they stand. There may be a health-care bill passed somewhere down the line, but it won’t be Obama’s bill, and it will lack most of the provisions that a Caesar demands — the euthanasia counseling provisions, the “public option”, control of insurance rates, and so on. The Imperator will have to find another means of attaining demigodhood. I suggest an expedition to conquer the Picts.

(But what’s this “FOCA”, you ask? Well you may. FOCA, or the “Freedom of Choice Act” is a bill that would enshrine abortion as a basic civil right with even greater protection than those given the rights of free speech, worship, or assembly, while also overturning every previous court decision and law dealing with the subject. Obama enjoyed waving it around as a senator, and promised that signing it would be his “first act” in the oval office. That is, until the Catholic bishops threatened him with stern consequences, beginning with the closure of the Catholic hospital network, fully a third of the U.S. health-care system. So FOCA went by the board, along with the promise to overturn the “conscience clause” protecting medical personnel who refuse to assist in abortions. Obama intended to put an end to that by March. It’s been a long time since then.)

To cap the redeemer’s woes, we have a world-class case of buyer’s remorse on the part of the voters, with presidential approval ratings dropping to 50% across the board. Rasmussen has Obama at 46%, a drop of some 30% in little more than six months. Zogby, among the most dependable of pollsters, reveals that Obama is losing support even among his core constituency.

So there it is — a political agenda in ruins. Massive ruins, awe-inspiring ruins, ruins unprecedented in their size and majesty. For an epitaph we can turn to Shelley:

Nothing beside remains: round the decay

Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare,

The lone and level sands stretch far away

Obama could, and probably will, attempt to sneak aspects of his agenda through riders to unrelated bills and unfunded mandates. But this won’t be enough. It would be politically unsatisfying, and would fail to match his bold image of himself. Obama is a man who needs a mission, who must believe he has been touched by fire, reaching for goals beyond those open to ordinary men. The squalid day in/day out of politics so appealing to an FDR or a Lyndon B. Johnson means little to him. So he will search for other possibilities, spectacular, historic tasks that match his self-image.

More Green involvement would be an obvious choice. Al Gore has clearly demonstrated what a salve it can be to the wounded political ego. What better way of offsetting a ruined agenda than by taking up the pose of world savior and servant of Gaia? It’s also relatively risk-free. Of the hundreds — if not thousands — of public figures who have lied and manipulated on behalf of environmentalism, not a single one — not Carson, not Ruckelshaus, not Ehrlich, not Streep — have ever paid a price for it. On the contrary, most have done very well for themselves. Obama could do worse than to continue pushing the warming button — or whatever may replace it after another couple of bad winters.

He could instead choose to push the race button. Elected as a conciliator, Obama has since demonstrated himself to be anything but. The questions aroused by his twenty-year adherence to Jeremiah Wright have been answered by the appointment of the compulsive Eric Holder and the thuggish Van Jones, now departed. Obama’s inept handling of the Gates incident suggests that as a man born in Hawaii and raised in large part overseas, he lacks a truly visceral understanding of American racial matters, instead relying on the kind of empty-headed clichés often seen in European media stories regarding American race relations. Whatever the case, any president who manipulates race for political purposes is putting far more than his reputation on the line. As a liberal, Obama lacks the power to benefit American society. But he can do much to damage it.

Obama could easily prevail by setting aside his status as god-emperor, dropping the effort to leave his imprint on the age and ignoring the cries of his more fanatical followers. In other words, by acting as a president. But this is unlikely on any number of cultural, political, and personal grounds. He is on the descending escalator, and is doomed to take it all the way to the bottom. It is our business to see that he doesn’t drag the country down with him.

Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn — Terrorists and Communists

William Charles Ayers (born December 26, 1944) is an American elementary education theorist and former leader in the anti-war movement that opposed U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War. He is known for the radical nature of his activism, which began within the anti-war movement of the 1960s. In 1969 he co-founded the violent radical left organization the Weather Underground, which conducted a campaign of bombing public buildings during the 1960s and 1970s. He is now a professor in the College of Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago, holding the titles of Distinguished Professor of Education and Senior University Scholar.

Bernardine Rae Dohrn (née Ohrnstein, born January 12, 1942) is an American former leader of the Anti-Vietnam War radical organization Weather Underground. She is an Associate Professor of Law at Northwestern University School of Law and the Director of Northwestern’s Children and Family Justice Center.

    1971 – 1978 Frank Marshall Davis — RACIST Communist
Obama had an admitted relationship with someone who was publicly identified as a member of the Communist Party USA (CPUSA). The record shows that Obama was in Hawaii from 1971-1979, where, at some point in time, he developed a close relationship, almost like a son, with Davis, listening to his “poetry” and getting advice on his career path. But Obama, in his book, “Dreams From My Father,” refers to him repeatedly as just “Frank.”

Galluzzo told Lizza that many new trainees have an aversion to Saul Alinsky’s gritty approach because they come to organizing as idealists rather than realists. Galluzzo, along with fellow trainer Mike Kruglik, schooled Obama in Alinsky tactics. The Developing Communities Project, Obama’s first employer in Chicago, was part of the Gamaliel network of organizations.

    Jeff Jones –RACIST Terrorist
Jeff Jones is a co-author of Obama’s Stimulus Bill. He used to be a terrorist. Jones was a national officer in Students for a Democratic Society, a founding member of Weatherman, and a leader of the Weather Underground.

Jones is part of the Apollo Group, which was founded by Van Jones — Obama’s “Green Czar.” The Apollo Group, under Jeff and Van Jones’ direction, basically wrote Barack Obama’s stimulus bill.

During World War II, Jones’ father was a pacifist and conscientious objector who was assigned for the duration of the war, to a civilian work camp in the Sierra Mountains of California. Ironic, a pacifist breading a terrorist.

    Madeline Talbot — ACORN

Madeleine Talbot was a leader at Chicago Acorn. Talbot was so impressed by Obama’s organizing skills that she invited him to help train her own staff.

Talbot turns out to have been a key leader of that attempt by Acorn to storm the Chicago City Council (during a living-wage debate). In a deliberate bit of what radicals call “direct action,” orchestrated by Acorn’s Madeleine Talbot. As Talbot was led away handcuffed, charged with mob action and disorderly conduct, she explicitly justified her actions in storming the meeting. This was the woman who first drew Obama into his alliance with Acorn, and whose staff Obama helped train.

    Frank bio shows mischievous streak

Barney Frank speaks during a town hall meeting.
A new bio of Barney Frank has lots of interesting little revelations — some that are downright shocking.

A new bio of Barney Frank has lots of interesting little revelations, but none is quite so jarring as the image of a young Barney stripping down and covering his upper body with shaving cream, as per POLITICO’s Victoria McGrane, who read an advance copy.

At the time (1965), Frank was a Harvard graduate student and popular resident tutor in Winthrop House, an undergraduate residence. Around Christmas, Frank dressed for a skit in which he covered himself from the waist up in shaving cream, according to Stuart Weisberg’s “Barney Frank: The Story of America’s Only Left-Handed, Gay, Jewish Congressman.”

The mischievous streak was present back in high school, when the New Jersey-bred Frank showed up at a Columbia University School of Journalism conference with copies of the Communist newspaper the Daily Worker instead of his school newspaper.

The Harvard Crimson described him, in a March 1966 article, as a tutor who “combines the virtues of a political philosopher with those of a Jersey ward boss.”

Rep. Schmidt Whispers Support To Birther

Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-Ohio) may be the worst stage whisperer in recent American political history.

At a Labor Day event in Cincinnati, Schmidt was approached by a slightly unhinged constituent who wanted to know why she wasn’t demanding to see President Barack Obama’s birth certificate. ThinkProgress happened to have a tracker hovering nearby, who recorded the exchange, which captures the wink-wink game some GOP pols are playing with the birther fringe.

“You can’t be a president!” the woman shouts as a Schmidt staffer tries to get in between.

Schmidt then tries to get her attention by saying, “Ma’am, ma’am.”

When the woman stops talking, Schmidt leans into her ear and whispers — loudly enough to be picked up by the mic: “I agree with you, but the courts don’t.”

Schmidt is referring to a string of recent court decisions throwing out birther lawsuits.

    Liberals Blast Ross

Liberals are going bombs away on Blue Dog Rep. Mike Ross (D-Ark.) for reversing course — and disavowing the public option, a move that probably won’t hurt him too much with the folks back home in Pine Bluff.

“Mike Ross should stop pretending to be a Democrat and just put an ‘I’ after his name — for ‘insurance industry,’ which has given him over $150,000 in campaign cash to vote against his own constituents,” Adam Green, co-founder of the Progressive Change Campaign Committee, said in a statement.

“Mike Ross doesn’t seriously believe his constituents support his new position: government mandating they buy health insurance from private companies with a track record of ripping people off, without a public option there to drive competition and keep those companies honest. That is fundamentally out of the mainstream — even many Republican families want a public option, regardless of what a vocal minority of teabaggers say.”

Ross, one of several Blue Dogs to stall the bill in the health committee in late July, eventually voted in favor of a modified public option plan after getting cost-cutting assurances and cash for rural health care. But he did a 180 on the first day back in D.C., releasing a statement saying his meetings with constituents have triggered a change of heart.

“I have been skeptical about the public health insurance option from the beginning and used August to get feedback from you, my constituents,” he wrote. “An overwhelming number of you oppose a government-run health insurance option, and it is your feedback that has led me to oppose the public option as well.”

the above comment is from a fellow anti-marxist.

  27. m2 says:

The response of the Obama administration to the economic crisis will go down as one of the biggest blunders in US history.

In his inaugural speech the president decided to stay the course, acting as if the national larder were full instead of empty.

The president encouraged the Congress to pass a huge “stimulus” bill that was, in fact, a bailout for the state and local governments, i.e., state and local government jobs.

The immediate emergence of the Tea Party movement in February told us that something was wrong. Everybody who was anybody sneered at the grass-roots consternation of the American people.

They are not sneering any more.

Since February the Obama administration has attempted two more blunders, the cap-and-tax bill, presently hidden away in the US Senate, and the three ring circus of the president’s health reform, presently on life support.

Has there ever been a more reckless squandering of political capital in US history?

It is telling that the center of resistance to the president’s agenda seems to be coming not from the established conservative movement but from some more amorphous, Middle American place. Maybe that’s not surprising. When the welfare state crashes and burns it will not necessarily be “women and minorities hardest hit.” No, it will be ordinary Americans that will be hardest hit. Liberals and their clients will do fine, protected in their lifetime government sinecures and benefits. Conservatives will do fine, because they never trusted government, and made other arrangements for their security. It will be the moderates, who vote one year for Republican tax cuts and another year for Democratic spending, that will be devastated by the wreck of the liberal spending programs.

So it makes sense that they are the ones instinctively reacting in nervous opposition to the president’s huge spending plans.

Some people believe that the president has persisted in his folly because he is an unrepentant leftist. The truth is probably more prosaic. The problem is that the president and his advisers seem to be unable to see round corners or think several moves ahead. They have kept on with their original game plan because they lack the experience and the confidence to change it.

Cincinnati Zoo’s Cheetah Breaks Land Speed Record Twice
Third Attempt To Set Record Comes Up Short

CLERMONT COUNTY, Ohio — A cheetah from the Cincinnati Zoo became the world’s fastest land mammal Wednesday, not once, but twice.

Sarah, the 8-year-old female cheetah, ran the 100-meter dash in 6.16 seconds on her first attempt and then 6.13 seconds on her second attempt.

“This is the all-time great day in cheetah racing. She set the world record and broke it again,” said Thane Maynard, executive director of the Cincinnati Zoo.

A third attempt to break the record was unsuccessful with a time of 6.33 seconds.

The previous record of 6.19 seconds was set by Nyana, a male cheetah from South Africa. The fastest human on Earth is Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt, who recently posted a time of 9.58 seconds in the 100-meter dash.

The Cincinnati Zoo used a “fluffy dog toy” on the end of a lure to get Sarah to run the race. A representative of the zoo said Sarah acts as if she is attacking a gazelle and when she reaches the toy, she pounces on it and treats it as if she has just made a kill.

The zoo said that the record applies among worldwide organizations or zoos that keep, raise or track cheetahs, but did say that Sarah’s time may be submitted to the Guinness Book of World Records.

The runs are being held at the Cincinnati Zoo Cheetah Breeding Facility at Mast Farm in Clermont County.

Obama disapproval on health care up to 52 percent

WASHINGTON – Public disapproval of President Barack Obama’s handling of health care has jumped to 52 percent, according to an Associated Press-GfK poll released hours before he makes his case for overhaul in a prime-time address to Congress.

With his health revamp moving slowly and unemployment edging ever higher, Obama’s overall approval rating has also suffered a blow. The survey showed that 49 percent now disapprove of how he is handling his job as president, up from 42 percent who disapproved in July.

The grade people give Obama on health care also has worsened since July, when just 43 percent disapproved of his work on the issue.

The poll underscores how the president has struggled to win public support to reshape the nation’s $2.5 trillion health care system and to put the brakes on a deep recession.

Forty-nine percent say they oppose the health overhaul plans being considered by Congress, compared to just 34 percent who favor them.

People are about evenly split over what lawmakers should do now on health care: About four in 10 say they should keep trying to pass a bill this year while about the same number say they should start over again.

Significantly, though, only about two in 10 say the health care system should be left as is.

There is a clear public desire for a bipartisan approach on the issue. Eight in 10 say it’s important that any plan that passes Congress should have the support of both parties, while two-thirds want Obama and Democrats to try winning support from Republicans, who with few exceptions have opposed the Democratic drive.

Obama’s marks are also poor on the economy, with 52 percent saying they disapprove of how he’s handled that issue.

A similar number disapprove of his handling of taxes, some of which may rise to help finance his health overhaul. And 56 percent dislike his handling of the budget deficit, which has skyrocketed under the costs of the financial bailouts and a recession that has caused sinking federal revenues.

The survey of 1,001 adults with cell and landline telephones was conducted from Sept. 3-8. It had a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.

Obama Pitched Universal Health Care to Students in Meeting Prior to His Speech on Education
    Wednesday, September 09, 2009
By Penny Starr, Senior Staff Writer

( – Prior to his nationally broadcast speech to students on Tuesday, President Barack Obama made a pitch for health care reform in a discussion with 40 freshmen at Wakefield High School in Arlington, Va.

The president traveled to Wakefield High to give a speech on education reform. The speech was posted in advance on the White House Web site to quell fears that the president intended to plug his political agenda to impressionable minds.

Although the president avoided controversial topics in his speech, he did promote health care reform in a face-to-face discussion at Wakefield High School. Asked by a student how he stays motivated to do his job, Obama replied that his staff gives him 10 letters every day from “ordinary folks.”

“Some of the stories are really depressing,” Obama told the 40 freshman, who were chosen to meet with the president during freshman orientation, according to school officials.

“You hear about people who are sick but don’t have health care, and suddenly they get a bill for $100,000, and there’s no way they can pay for it, and they’re about to lose their house. And you’re just reminded that the country is full of really good people who sometimes are going through a hard time,” Obama said.

“They just need a break. They need a little bit of help. Maybe the way things are set up right now isn’t always fair for people, and that motivates you, because you say, well, I can’t make everything perfect, I can’t prevent somebody from getting sick, but maybe I can make sure that they’ve got insurance so that when they do get sick, they’re going to get some help.”

Another student asked the president about health care in Iraq and Afghanistan: “And my question is, currently 36 countries have universal health coverage, including Iraq and Afghanistan, which have it paid for by the United States. Why can’t the United States have universal health coverage?”

GROVER NORQUIST: We Don’t Need Another Post Office

Americans wanted Obama to change Washington. Obama wants to use Washington to change America.

Last fall Barack Obama campaigned promising change. Many Americans wanted change. They wanted to change Washington. But Obama meant something very different. He wanted to use Washington to change America. Having the government take over hospitals, doctors, health insurance and life and death decisions is not what most Americans thought they were voting for.

President Obama began his presidency with very high approval ratings. But as Americans watched him take over the banks with bailouts, and take over the car companies with bailouts and spend almost a trillion dollars for a “stimulus” spending package of expensive earmarks and sign a budget with another trillion in new spending—with some nine trillion dollars now to be added to the national debt—the idea of having government take over health care began to look less and less wise.

When Obama said “reform” he clearly meant “take over.” Reform the auto companies. Reform the banking system. Obama would use our tax dollars so he could buy and control whole industries.

When Americans began questioning what Obama and Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi were doing they found themselves insulted by the politicians who didn’t like the rabble asking pesky questions. Barack Obama doesn’t like his inferiors asking questions like—will the Democrat Congressmen who vote for a “public option” on health care actually live with that public option—or is the public option just for little people?

President Obama was brutally honest when he said the government run “public option” would be like the Post Office. We have, Obama pointed out, a government run post office and privately run UPS and FedEx. Therefore you have choice. Sort of. The federal government taxes UPS and FedEx. The government-run post office does not pay federal or state corporate income taxes or local property taxes. FedEx and UPS do. And it is against the law for you to try and send a first class letter through anyone other than the post office. Well if the government option can tax its competitors and can pass laws to create a monopoly—how is this real choice?

Obama also has a problem because many Americans have friends or relatives with some experience with government run health care in Canada or Britain where the government rations care by making citizens wait to see a doctor, take a test or use a CAT scan or MRI. In Britain, one waits an average of 70 days for cataract surgery, 68 days for bypass surgery, 99 days for hernia repair (ouch), 113 days for tonsillectomy. Median wait times in Canada from general practitioner to seeing a specialist is 9.4 weeks for gynecology. It is on average another 7 weeks between seeing the specialist and getting treatment.

Would the U.S. government ration health care if they ran the health care system? Well, president Obama has already given us the answer. The post office, his model for a public health care system, is losing money (Interesting question how a monopoly loses money). What is the post office response to losing money? Becoming more efficient? No. They will ration post office care by closing on Saturdays. Years ago they rationed by ending twice daily delivery of the mail. Now when you get sick, the government may be closed on Saturdays. Rationing. No fun if you are sick.

Obama promised that health care reform would reduce your insurance costs. And give insurance coverage to 49 million folks with no insurance. Sounded good. Sounded painless. If you were happy with your insurance nothing would change. But now we learn that the government needs one, two or maybe three trillion dollars to give us this new lower-costing health care. If it costs less, what are all the trillions of higher taxes going towards? And now that we read the fine print, we find that there are four general tax hikes in the House of Representatives health care bill. Not just taxes on the rich but on those making less than $250,000 a year, a blatant violation of Obama’s central campaign promise not to raise “any form” of taxes on these families. And new regulations will prevent 30 million American families with flexible spending accounts and health savings accounts from purchasing over the counter medicines. And Medicare will be raided by taking away choices for seniors. You and I are going to pay through the nose for this experiment.

    All this pain for what?

For the past eight years Democrats have been voting against and filibustering two important reforms that would help all Americans. First, allowing you to buy your health insurance from any of the 50 states. Right now you are stuck buying insurance from businesses in your state, often with expensive mandates pushed on you by the state legislators and lobbyists for special interests This reform alone, known as the Shadegg bill, would drop the cost of health care an average of 15%. Not bad. Democrats have spent years opposing this fix.

Second, we need to reform tort law—stop the trial lawyer billionaires from suing your doctor and hospital to push up the costs of your health care. Obama, Reid and Pelosi owe the trial lawyer billionaires a great deal. They cannot say no to them. So no reform there. Some suggest that such reforms would save billions in legal fees but also tens of billions in lower costs of so called “defensive” medicine forced by the trial lawyers.

And lastly, Republicans are putting forward legislation that would require all hospitals to post their actual prices for operations on the Internet so we can shop around—like we do with everything else in life. That would generate real price competition that does not exist in today’s highly regulated health care.

Health care is too expensive in America. That is because it is taxed, regulated and sued too much. We need less government in between us and our doctors. Fewer parasitical trial lawyers and more competition free from government created monopolies.

One government run post office is already too many.

The President Has No Plan to Fix Health-Care [James C. Capretta]

Pres. Barack Obama says he wants to be the last president that has to deal with health-care. But it is abundantly clear from his speech tonight that he has no plan to fix the problems in health-care as they exist today, much less to settle the issue for good.

The primary problem in health-care is rapid cost escalation. The president has promised for months now that he would have a plan to “bend the cost-curve.” Indeed, even tonight, he spoke of the plans being worked on in Congress as if they would address the problem of rising costs and improve our long-term budget outlook.

It’s as if the president and his team haven’t read anything that the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has said about the health-care bills under consideration. The truth is that these bills would add an additional runaway health-care entitlement to the ones already on the federal books. CBO has said that the House bill would set in motion new spending that would grow at about 8 percent rate per year, while the revenue to pay for it would increase only about 5 percent per year. You don’t have to be a financial genius to sse a problem here.

Today, the Lewin Group confirmed again how fiscally irresponsible the House bill is. According to Lewin’s estimates, the bill passed out of the House Energy and Commerce Committee would increase the federal budget deficit by $1 trillion between now and 2029, and permanently increase the nation’s total health-care bill. Moreover, they estimate that the uninsured would face an average of $1400 in increased costs from the House bill per year. Others with insurance would see a small decrease in costs, but that assumes no increase in taxes to pay for the government’s mounting bills.

The country does need to enact sensible health-care reforms. But the plan the president is pushing would exacerbate the fundamental problem, not address it. And that’s why the public has turned against it.

Daschle represents mega-insurer United Health, which opposes the pure public option, and Alston & Bird represents a total of 31 clients from the health care sector. According to D.C. watchdog, “of the $2,730,000 reported income received from clients, nearly 50% of that, $1,070,000, comes from these 31 health care clients.”

We the people are not stupid.

WASHINGTON (CNN) — GOP Rep. Joe Wilson of South Carolina issued a statement Wednesday night apologizing for his outburst during President Obama’s speech to Congress:

“This evening I let my emotions get the best of me when listening to the President’s remarks regarding the coverage of illegal immigrants in the health care bill. While I disagree with the President’s statement, my comments were inappropriate and regrettable. I extend sincere apologies to the President for this lack of civility.”

Good Morning Everyone! Here is more on Obama trojan horse care.

    Read the Union Health-Care Label
Get ready for Detroit-style labor relations in our hospitals.

In the heated debates on health-care reform, not enough attention is being paid to the huge financial windfalls ObamaCare will dole out to unions—or to the provisions in the various bills in Congress that will help bring about the forced unionization of the health-care industry.

Tucked away in thousands of pages of complex new rules, regulations and mandates are special privileges and giveaways that could have devastating consequences for the health-care sector and the American economy at large.

The Senate version opens the door to implement forced unionization schemes pursued by former Govs. Rod Blagojevich of Illinois in 2005 and Gray Davis of California in 1999. Both men repaid tremendous political debts to Andy Stern and his Service Employees International Union (SEIU) by reclassifying state-reimbursed in-home health-care (and child-care) contractors as state employees—and forcing them to pay union dues.

Following this playbook, the Senate bill creates a “personal care attendants workforce advisory panel” that will likely impose union affiliation to qualify for a newly created “community living assistance services and support (class)” reimbursement plan.

The current House version of ObamaCare (H.R. 3200) goes much further. Section 225(A) grants Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius tremendous discretionary authority to regulate health-care workers “under the public health insurance option.” Monopoly bargaining and compulsory union dues may quickly become a required standard resulting in potentially hundreds of thousands of doctors and nurses across the country being forced into unions.

Ms. Sebelius will be taking her marching orders from the numerous union officials who are guaranteed seats on the various federal panels (such as the personal care panel mentioned above) charged with recommending health-care policies. Big Labor will play a central role in directing federal health-care policy affecting hundreds of thousands of doctors, surgeons and nurses.

Consider Kaiser Permanente, the giant, managed-care organization that has since 1997 proudly touted its labor-management “partnership” in scores of workplaces. Union officials play an essentially co-equal role in running many Kaiser facilities. AFL-CIO President John Sweeney called the Kaiser plan “a framework for what every health care delivery system should do” at a July 24 health-care forum outside of Washington, D.C.

The House bill has a $10 billion provision to bail out insolvent union health-care plans. It also creates a lucrative professional-development grant program for health-care workers that effectively blackballs nonunion medical facilities from participation. The training funds in this program must be administered jointly with a labor organization—a scenario not unlike the U.S. Department of Labor’s grants for construction apprenticeship programs, which have turned into a cash cow for construction industry union officials on the order of hundreds of millions of dollars each year.

There’s more. Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus has suggested that the federal government could pay for health-care reform by taxing American workers’ existing health-care benefits—but he would exempt union-negotiated health-care plans. Under Mr. Baucus’s scheme, the government could impose costs of up to $20,000 per employee on nonunion businesses already struggling to afford health care plans.

Mr. Baucus’s proposal would give union officials another tool to pressure employers into turning over their employees to Big Labor. Rather than provide the lavish benefits required by Obamacare, employers could allow a union to come in and negotiate less costly benefits than would otherwise be required. Such plans could be continuously exempted.

Americans are unlikely to support granting unions more power than they already have in the health-care field. History shows union bosses could abuse their power to shut down medical facilities with sick-outs and strikes; force doctors, nurses and in-home care providers to abandon their patients; dictate terms and conditions of employment; and impose a failed, Detroit-style management model on the entire health-care field.

ObamaCare is a Trojan Horse for more forced unionization.

Obama disapproval on health care up to 52 percent

WASHINGTON – Public disapproval of President Barack Obama’s handling of health care has leaped to 52 percent, according to Associated Press-GfK poll that underscores the country’s glowering mood as the White House made a renewed pitch for an overhaul.

Just 42 percent approve of the president’s work on the high-profile health issue. The survey was released Wednesday before his nationally televised effort to persuade Congress and voters to back his drive to reshape the nation’s $2.5 trillion-a-year medical system.

Spotlighting how Obama lost ground this summer, his latest approval figures on health were essentially reversed since July, when 50 percent approved of his health effort and just 43 percent disapproved.

The poll was taken over five days just before Obama’s speech to Congress. That speech reflected Obama’s determination to push ahead despite growing obstacles.

“I will not waste time with those who have made the calculation that it’s better politics to kill this plan than to improve it,” Obama said Wednesday night. “I won’t stand by while the special interests use the same old tactics to keep things exactly the way they are. If you misrepresent what’s in the plan, we’ll call you out. And I will not accept the status quo as a solution.”

The poll illustrates how difficult recent weeks have been for a president who, besides tackling health care, has been battling to end a devastatingly deep recession. Fifty percent approve and 49 percent disapprove of the overall job he is doing as president, compared to July, when those approving his performance clearly outnumbered those who were unhappy with it, 55 percent to 42 percent.

The slipping figures were an ominous sign for Obama, who by year’s end wants Congress to send him legislation lowering health costs while covering millions of uninsured Americans. Besides near unanimous opposition from Republicans, the president’s proposal has divided lawmakers from his own party, with liberals battling for a far-reaching plan that would include optional government-run insurance, and moderates demanding a scaled-down version without public coverage.

The poll found that discontent with Obama’s health care effort is not isolated to Republicans. While nearly nine in 10 from the GOP disapproved of his handling of the issue, so did about six in 10 independents and two in 10 Democrats.

“How in the world can anybody look at this and evaluate it and see if it makes effective change?” Kelly Hoots, 35, a pharmacist and independent from Weaverville, N.C., said of the health care legislation. “Who knows what’s in it?”

Further spotlighting the opposition Obama is encountering, 49 percent in the AP-GfK poll said they oppose the health overhaul plans being considered by Congress, compared to just 34 percent who favor them.

People are about evenly split over what lawmakers should do next on health care: About four in 10 say they should keep trying to pass a bill this year while about the same number say they should start over again.

Significantly, though, only about two in 10 say the health care system should be left as is, a positive sign for Obama.

“It’s about time” for expanded health coverage, said Randy Yarborough, 56, a retired cabinetmaker and Democrat from Fort Lauderdale, Fla. “Everybody ought to have it. Anybody who says we can’t afford it or we shouldn’t have government health care, you need to wake up.”

There is a clear public desire for a bipartisan approach on health care. Eight in 10 say it’s important that any plan that passes Congress have the support of both parties, with Democrats, Republicans and independents all saying so by roughly that proportion. Two-thirds say if Obama and congressional Democrats can’t win support from Republicans to pass a bill this year, they should keep trying until they get it.

Obama’s marks are also declining on the economy, with 52 percent saying they disapprove of how he’s handled that issue. Just 46 percent disapproved in a July AP-GfK poll, and 35 percent disapproved in April.

About half disapprove of his handling of taxes, some of which may rise to help finance his health overhaul, and of unemployment, which has been on the rise. And 56 percent dislike his handling of the budget deficit, which has skyrocketed under the costs of the financial bailouts and a recession that has caused federal revenues to sink.

While 77 percent say health care is important to them, 92 percent said the same about the economy, more than any other issue in the AP-GfK poll. That suggests that despite Washington’s focus on the health care struggle, few voters have taken their eyes off the recession.

“They ought to scrap the whole thing” on health care, said Republican Wendy Sanders, 39, a homemaker from Kingsland, Ga. “People need jobs. Do that.”

The survey of 1,001 adults with cell and landline telephones was conducted from Sept. 3-8. It had a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.

    Obama’s ‘Gift’ Has Stopped Giving

President Obama’s healthcare address to Congress displayed the oratorical gift he once revealed to Harry Reid. But the gift has stopped giving.

In an updated version of his biography, Senator Reid tells of a conversation he once had with then Senator Obama about a speech Obama delivered on President Bush’s war policy. Reid said to Obama, “That speech was phenomenal, Barack.” Obama replied, “I have a gift, Harry.”

On the campaign trail, Obama’s “gift” was his strong suit. His go-to skill. The one that swooned crowds and evoked emotional dedication from his followers. After eight years of a president who was mediocre, at best, in verbal communication, and while in a race against a Republican presidential candidate who displayed no improvement in that sphere, Obama’s oratorical skills were, to many, the incarnation of the “change” that was half of his campaign slogan.

In last night’s speech before a joint session of Congress, the President pulled all the stops on his vocal organ, played his strong suit, and deployed the “gift.” But the gift has stopped giving, because people have started listening.

He was most persuasive at defining the healthcare problem, leaning heavily on anecdotal vignettes describing victims of inadequate healthcare coverage. Then he equated our healthcare problem with the deficit problem. One is dependent on the other, he said.

He accused opponents of using “scare tactics.” This came after he’d piled scare tactic upon scare tactic himself to illustrate the problem. The healthcare system is “at the breaking point.” It offers “insecurity today.” People are dying! Thirty million can’t get coverage, he said. Wait, we been told for years that it’s 47 million. What happened to the other seventeen?

He wants a plan that “builds on what works and fixes what doesn’t.” The only problem is that doesn’t jive with the thousand-plus pages of H.R. 3200 that have been read by too many Americans. His description of limited reform doesn’t match the bill.

Healthcare reform will only impact, he said, five percent of the population. When he said, “While there remain some significant details to be ironed out,” we heard something unique in recent joint Congressional speech history. Derisive laughter at a President from the opposition side of the chamber. The faces of Pelosi and Biden, seated behind Obama, said they weren’t among the amused.

It was the perfect moment for non-partisan conciliatory language, but Obama pulled out brass knuckles and attacked “bogus claims” made by opponents to the plan. What plan still wasn’t clear? H.R. 3200? Or, his intentions for a healthcare plan he was revealing, or claimed to be revealing, in the speech? He seemed not to want to differentiate between the two, but yet to differentiate between the two. Conflicted, for sure, and intentionally, also for sure. A shell game of hide the plan. Criticize H.R. 3200 and you’re not being fair because that’s not what he wants to have happen.

The “bogus claims” were the opponents’ “cynical and irresponsible” references to death panels for senior citizens; coverage for illegal immigrants — South Carolina Representative Joe Wilson yelled “Lie!” and made Biden cinch-up his neck; coverage for abortions; and the bogus claim that the plan (what plan, whose plan?) meant government control of the nation’s healthcare system.

He professed belief that “consumers do better with choice and competition.” This comes as Ford competes against a General Motors and Chrysler that received tens of billions of dollars of government aid. And, even at that, Ford is winning the competition.

A key moment came when he re-endorsed a “not-for-profit public option.” Only five percent would sign up, he said. Where did that number come from? And this, he claimed, would be a “self-sufficient” public option that wouldn’t add “one dime” to the deficit. He chose then, and not wisely, to use public colleges as an example of fiscal self-sufficiently. Nevermind that the tuition at those institutions has been climbing steadily over recent years.

Then came that surreal moment when he said that spending cuts in a healthcare program — one that the government already badly manages — would cover additional costs to a even wider system. And, if the promised savings don’t materialize, there’ll be compensating cuts. Meanwhile, the camera focused on Congressman Charlie Rangel (D. NY) who, although he’s nearing 80, is able to tap dance around paying his taxes, with a smile. This is bad comedy.

And bad religion too, since, miracle of miracles, the 900 billion dollar cost over 10 years is covered by just a one-tenth of one percent reduction in spending on the existing healthcare system (that, of course, the government won’t be controlling) that will, he said, equal a savings of four trillion dollars over the “long run” (Is that in dog years?). Of course, extra fees on the health insurance companies will also defer some of the additional costs.

About the time we were swimming in a sea of uncorroborated vagaries and smothering beneath layered non sequitur claims, he rolled out the memory of Ted Kennedy and the camera panned in on the widow. Out came the “moral issue” that the late Senator Kennedy said reflects the “character of our country.” A character lesson from Ted! Who could have predicted that?

It transitioned to the recollection of how government once-upon-a-time assumed the responsibility for the Social Security of the elderly. Too bad no one stood and said, “Social Security is bankrupt!”

So, it was lofty oratory built on unsubstantiated claims; emotionally sustained by anecdotal tugs on the heart strings; punctuated with vague statistics; culminating in the remembrance of a liberal icon; that led to the invocation of that paradigm of welfare programs that’s gone completely haywire.

  245. m2 says:

Officials with the controversial community organizing group ACORN were secretly videotaped offering to assist two individuals posing as a pimp and a prostitute, encouraging them to lie to the Internal Revenue Service and providing guidance on how to claim underage girls from South America as dependents.

The videotape was made public Thursday on, a political blog launched by Andrew Breitbart as a companion site to his blog.

In the videotape, made on July 24, James O’Keefe, a 25-year-old independent filmmaker, posed as a pimp with a 20-year-old woman named “Kenya” who posed as a prostitute while visiting ACORN’s office in Baltimore. The couple told ACORN staffers they wanted to secure housing where the woman could continue to maintain a prostitution business.

ACORN — the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now — bills itself as the nation’s largest community of low- and moderate-income families “working together for social justice and stronger communities,” according to its Web site. The organization has been accused by Republicans and conservative activists with fraud in voter registration drives around the country and has been under fire since last year for its support of President Obama and for its planned participation in next year’s census.

A spokesman for ACORN, Scott Levenson, when asked to comment on the videotape, said: “The portrayal is false and defamatory and an attempt at gotcha journalism. This film crew tried to pull this sham at other offices and failed. ACORN wants to see the full video before commenting further.”

On the videotape, “Kenya” can be seen telling an ACORN staffer that she earns roughly $8,000 a month. The ACORN employee then suggests to “Kenya” that ACORN could submit a tax return for 2008 showing that she made $9,600 for the entire year — instead of $96,000 — and that ACORN would charge “Kenya” $50 instead of the usual $150 fee for preparing her taxes.

ACORN offers tax preparation and benefits application services free of charge during tax season; it charges nominal fees during non-tax season.

The ACORN staffer can also be seen suggesting that the prostitute list her occupation as a freelance “performing artist.”

“It’s not dancing, trust me,” the “pimp” says.

“But dancing is considered an art,” the ACORN staffer replies. “[Exotic dancers] usually go under performing artists, or yeah, they usually go under performing arts, which will be what you are — a performing artist.”

The “pimp” later says that he and “Kenya” plan to bring up to 13 “very young” girls from El Salvador to work as prostitutes. Although an ACORN staffer points out their plans are illegal, she also suggests that the girls can be claimed as dependents.

“What if they are going to be making money because they are performing tricks too?” the pimp says.

“If they making money and they are underage, then you shouldn’t be letting anybody know anyway,” the ACORN staffer says, and laughs. “It’s illegal. So I am not hearing this, I am not hearing this. You talk too much. Don’t give up no information you’re not asked.”

The “pimp” then asks ACORN staffers to “promise” not to discriminate against his sex worker because of “who she is and what she does,” according to the audiotape.

“If we don’t have the information, then how are we going to discriminate?” the ACORN staffer replies. “You see what I am saying?”

If the girls are under age 16, the ACORN staffer says on the tape, then they are not legally allowed to work in the state, regardless of what they do.

“So it’s like they don’t even exist?” “Kenya” asks.

“Exactly,” the ACORN staffer replies. “It’s like they don’t even exist.”

The staffer goes on to suggest that as many as three of the underage girls can be listed as dependents at the home, but a “flag” will be raised if as many as 13 are listed.

“You are gonna use three of them,” the staffer says. “They are gonna be under 16, so you is eligible to get child tax credit and additional child tax credit.”

The ACORN workers also appear to be promoting the group’s services to the “pimp” and “Kenya.”

A second ACORN employee can be heard on the audiotape suggesting that the couple join the organization for an annual cost of $120 prior to attending one of its first-time homebuyer seminars, which are underwritten with taxpayer funds.

Later, when the “pimp” asks what would happen if the organization is somehow connected to the scheme, the ACORN staffer replies, “First of all, it’s not gonna damage us because we not gonna know. And with your girls, you tell them, ‘Be careful.’ Train them to keep their mouth shut.”

“These girls are like 14, how can we trust them?” the pimp asks.

“Just be very, very careful,” the ACORN staffer says. “Whatever you do, always keep your eyes in the back of your head.”

Reached by FOX News, O’Keefe said he was “shocked” at the level of assistance provided by ACORN staffers.

“I was prepared for them to call the police, throw me out of the office and be hostile,” he said. “Without hesitation, they helped me every way they could with evading taxes and setting me up with a brothel, with getting around federal tax laws — doing everything they could to help us. I was completely shocked.”

House Republicans issued a report in July accusing ACORN of engaging in a scheme to use taxpayer money to support a partisan political agenda. California Rep. Darrell Issa, the top Republican on the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, called for a criminal investigation into the group, which dismissed the report as a “partisan attack job.”

    What the Democrats Ignore

The reasons why the president’s approval ratings are falling like a blacksmith anvil in the Pacific ocean were made clear last night.

Time after time, in interview after interview, the habitually self-deceiving Democrats consciously ignore the following in the health care debate:

That tort reform is needed or the costs of defensive medicine will be dumped onto the backs of the US taxpayer through any government-sponsored plan; that reform will cause the deficit to tear a wider hole in the universe, as the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office has pointed out; and that the economic downturn behooves the president to make sure the financial system, recipient of massive taxpayer-funded bailouts that have not been so cinematically picture perfect, is fixed first.

The change the president asked Americans to believe in when he campaigned last fall somehow didn’t include the $3.6 tn in new spending, the $787 bn stimulus plan, or a nearly $1 tn overhaul of health care.

No president, neither Democrat nor Republican, would have won the election last fall if they told the American people the truth, that they planned to blow out the deficit to epic proportions.

Instead, to critics of his plans for reform, which involves hundreds of billions of dollars in new spending and tax hikes, which misleads the public with the incoherent claim that expanding coverage to 46 mn uninsured Americans is a way to save money, the president said in a Labor Day speech at the AFL-CIO picnic in Cincinnati: “I’ve got a question for them.”

“What’s your solution?” he said. “And you know what? They don’t have one. Their answer is to do nothing.”

A statement that ignores the raft of Republican reform ideas, which includes giving Medicare recipients vouchers to purchase their own coverage; reforming tort laws to hopefully save billions of dollars each year in wasteful spending on defensive medicine; and changing state regulations in order to let people buy insurance across state lines.

Again I ask you, don’t you deserve at the very least a healthier debate, before the White House and the US Congress change one-sixth of the US economy?

  250. samiam60 says:

As an Authoritarian he must control the speech. He cannot control the message with the first amendment and they have not moved swiftly enough to silence people (even with a Majority Statist media)…

Now he will backfire and we will degenerate into the world’s mockery. A partisan circus, and no one will respect Obama. No one the ill-informed on policy (i.e. his cult of personality zombies)…

Who is the ‘we’ who ‘spend too much’ on elder care?

The Left is terribly concerned that “we” are spending too much money on keeping people alive as they get older. But Ted Kennedy didn’t seem to mind that “we” provided state-of-the-art cancer care for him, presumably through his wonderful insurance as a US Senator; I have yet to hear of a single “Man or Woman of the Left” — as they like to dub themselves — who would object to healthy (and wealthy) aging for themselves. I don’t see George Soros checking out the suicide clinics in Holland. I don’t hear any eagerness to cut short Jimmy Carter’s lifelong support for bloody-minded Islamofascists; but Mr. Carter is 85 already. Are “we” the taxpayers now paying too much for his presidential medical care? Should Obama’s own medical care be discontinued at some specified age? And should Nelson Mandela be encouraged to call it quits? After all, Mr. Mandela is 91 now.

  286. m2 says:

Our new Doctor Death, Ezekiel Emmanuel, is passionately convinced that “we” spend too much money on elder care. He believes that caring for people with dementia is unjustifiable, like Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s disease. But their loved ones might still love them, the way Nancy Reagan loved Ronnie until he died. And what about kids born with Down Syndrome who will never be smart enough to meet Dr. Death’s high standards? You can be demented at birth. Is that going to be a death warrant under ObamaCare?

According to the Left “we” are losing money on keeping sick people alive. “We” have to economize, and where better than at the end of other people’s lives?

  287. m2 says:

When my parents were getting older and eventually passed away, none of us thought they were “a burden on society.” We were painfully aware of their aging and eventually, of their passing. We can never repay them for the gift of life, and for so much else. We honor them, because we still bear them within us.

Maybe conservatives are just the people who love their parents?

  288. m2 says:

In the civilized world we honor our elders; they are our teachers, our best exemplars of courage, wisdom and morality. In the dystopian world of the Left, the elderly are just bags of carbon compounds ready for the garbage heap of history.

The Power and Importance of New Media

On Meet the Press this past Sunday, New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman railed against internet news sources, referring to them as an “open sewer of untreated, unfiltered information.” He continued to mock new media, suggesting that the American public is incapable of deciphering between facts, fiction and opinion, when he said that modems should have a warning label from the surgeon general that reads “judgment not included.” What Mr. Friedman cannot understand is that web-based information sources like blogs, wikis and vlogs (video blogs) are the new beat reporters and investigative journalists of our time.

In an on online story posted last April 6, New Zealand blogger Trevor Loudon exposed the world to the Van Jones the Obama administration did not want you to know about. Three days later, the American website World Net Daily exposed Jones’ research to a wider audience. The article revealed Jones’s ties to radical leftist groups, being a self-proclaimed communist and racially incendiary remarks. These revelations did not trigger any journalistic instincts at the major networks, cable news channels or major newspapers. It did, however, reach a core with citizen watchdogs.

    Good Afternoon Everyone!

FACT CHECK: Obama uses iffy math on deficit pledge

By CALVIN WOODWARD and ERICA WERNER, Associated Press Writers Calvin Woodward And Erica Werner, Associated Press Writers – Thu Sep 10, 3:15 am ET
WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama used only-in-Washington accounting Wednesday when he promised to overhaul the nation’s health care system without adding “one dime” to the deficit. By conventional arithmetic, Democratic plans would drive up the deficit by billions of dollars.

The president’s speech to Congress contained a variety of oversimplifications and omissions in laying out what he wants to do about health insurance.

A look at some of Obama’s claims and how they square with the facts or the fuller story:

OBAMA: “I will not sign a plan that adds one dime to our deficits either now or in the future. Period.”

THE FACTS: Though there’s no final plan yet, the White House and congressional Democrats already have shown they’re ready to skirt the no-new-deficits pledge.

House Democrats offered a bill that the Congressional Budget Office said would add $220 billion to the deficit over 10 years. But Democrats and Obama administration officials claimed the bill actually was deficit-neutral. They said they simply didn’t have to count $245 billion of it — the cost of adjusting Medicare reimbursement rates so physicians don’t face big annual pay cuts.

Their reasoning was that they already had decided to exempt this “doc fix” from congressional rules that require new programs to be paid for. In other words, it doesn’t have to be paid for because they decided it doesn’t have to be paid for.

The administration also said that since Obama already had included the doctor payment in his 10-year budget proposal, it didn’t have to be counted again.

That aside, the long-term prognosis for costs of the health care legislation has not been good.

CBO Director Douglas Elmendorf had this to say in July: “We do not see the sort of fundamental changes that would be necessary to reduce the trajectory of federal health spending by a significant amount.”

OBAMA: “Nothing in this plan will require you or your employer to change the coverage or the doctor you have.”

THE FACTS: That’s correct, as far as it goes. But neither can the plan guarantee that people can keep their current coverage. Employers sponsor coverage for most families, and they’d be free to change their health plans in ways that workers may not like, or drop insurance altogether. The Congressional Budget Office analyzed the health care bill written by House Democrats and said that by 2016 some 3 million people who now have employer-based care would lose it because their employers would decide to stop offering it.

In the past Obama repeatedly said, “If you like your health care plan, you’ll be able to keep your health care plan, period.” Now he’s stopping short of that unconditional guarantee by saying nothing in the plan “requires” any change.

OBAMA: “The reforms I’m proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally.” One congressman, South Carolina Republican Joe Wilson, shouted “You lie!” from his seat in the House chamber when Obama made this assertion. Wilson later apologized.

THE FACTS: The facts back up Obama. The House version of the health care bill explicitly prohibits spending any federal money to help illegal immigrants get health care coverage. Illegal immigrants could buy private health insurance, as many do now, but wouldn’t get tax subsidies to help them. Still, Republicans say there are not sufficient citizenship verification requirements to ensure illegal immigrants are excluded from benefits they are not due.

OBAMA: “Don’t pay attention to those scary stories about how your benefits will be cut. … That will never happen on my watch. I will protect Medicare.”

THE FACTS: Obama and congressional Democrats want to pay for their health care plans in part by reducing Medicare payments to providers by more than $500 billion over 10 years. The cuts would largely hit hospitals and Medicare Advantage, the part of the Medicare program operated through private insurance companies.

Although wasteful spending in Medicare is widely acknowledged, many experts believe some seniors almost certainly would see reduced benefits from the cuts. That’s particularly true for the 25 percent of Medicare users covered through Medicare Advantage.

Supporters contend that providers could absorb the cuts by improving how they operate and wouldn’t have to reduce benefits or pass along costs. But there’s certainly no guarantee they wouldn’t.

OBAMA: Requiring insurance companies to cover preventive care like mammograms and colonoscopies “makes sense, it saves money, and it saves lives.”

THE FACTS: Studies have shown that much preventive care — particularly tests like the ones Obama mentions — actually costs money instead of saving it. That’s because detecting acute diseases like breast cancer in their early stages involves testing many people who would never end up developing the disease. The costs of a large number of tests, even if they’re relatively cheap, will outweigh the costs of caring for the minority of people who would have ended up getting sick without the testing.

The Congressional Budget Office wrote in August: “The evidence suggests that for most preventive services, expanded utilization leads to higher, not lower, medical spending overall.”

That doesn’t mean preventive care doesn’t make sense or save lives. It just doesn’t save money.

OBAMA: “If you lose your job or change your job, you will be able to get coverage. If you strike out on your own and start a small business, you will be able to get coverage.”

THE FACTS: It’s not just a matter of being able to get coverage. Most people would have to get coverage under the law, if his plan is adopted.

In his speech, Obama endorsed mandatory coverage for individuals, an approach he did not embrace as a candidate.

He proposed during the campaign — as he does now — that larger businesses be required to offer insurance to workers or else pay into a fund. But he rejected the idea of requiring individuals to obtain insurance. He said people would get insurance without being forced to do so by the law, if coverage were made affordable. And he repeatedly criticized his Democratic primary rival, Hillary Rodham Clinton, for proposing to mandate coverage.

“To force people to get health insurance, you’ve got to have a very harsh penalty,” he said in a February 2008 debate.

Now, he says, “individuals will be required to carry basic health insurance — just as most states require you to carry auto insurance.”

He proposes a hardship waiver, exempting from the requirement those who cannot afford coverage despite increased federal aid.

OBAMA: “There are now more than 30 million American citizens who cannot get coverage.”

THE FACTS: Obama time and again has referred to the number of uninsured as 46 million, a figure based on year-old Census data. The new number is based on an analysis by the Kaiser Commission on Medicaid and the Uninsured, which concluded that about two-thirds of Americans without insurance are poor or near poor. “These individuals are less likely to be offered employer-sponsored coverage or to be able to afford to purchase their own coverage,” the report said. By using the new figure, Obama avoids criticism that he is including individuals, particularly healthy young people, who choose not to obtain health insurance.

  292. m2 says:

At the eleventh hour, approximately twenty-four hours before Van Jones resigned, the “big three” and the so-called newspaper of record, the New York Times, acknowledged the Jones fiasco. It is a shame that Thomas Friedman and company will never admit that new media did the job the American people previously entrusted in traditional media.

    Not anymore.

In a June 18, 2009, article in Forbes magazine, pollster John Zogby noted that over twice as many Americans trust internet news sources more than television, newspapers and radio. That poll came just eighteen months after a Sam Adams Alliance, a Chicago-based nonprofit that utilizes new media to promote government accountability and transparency. That poll came just eighteen months after a Harris Poll showed that 54 percent of Americans, in general, do not trust the press.

Newsweek Declares White Babies to Be Racist

If you’re Caucasian, don’t think you’re ever clean of the moonbat answer to original sin. According to Newsreek, even babies are racist.

At the Children’s Research Lab at the University of Texas — located in liberal Austin, the Berkeley of the Southwest — Birgitte Vittrup attempted to measure how effective propaganda is at instilling multiculturalist ideology in small children. She found that despite parents’ progressive intentions and the homogenous political correctness of everything they see on TV, children 5 to 7 years old tended to consider blacks but not whites to be “mean.”

That this could have something to do with playground experiences was not even considered.

Another researcher discovered that white kids are racist at six months old. The article includes this gem of a quote:

It’s horrifying to imagine kids being “proud to be white.”
Just because racism is inborn, as homosexuality has recently become, doesn’t mean it should be celebrated. Newsbleak draws the conclusion that parents must redouble brainwashing efforts, and start with them even earlier.
