We should’ve seen this coming.. Remember when the crowd started chanting Obama… Obama…Obama… Obama… during the Inauguration. My eyes were popping out of my head as my heart was beating thousand times per minute. This country changed that very moment.

Folks there is a new war brewing…

Socialists Declare War On Whole Foods, Inc.

Why? its CEO Disagrees with ObamaCare’s Government Takeover and instead offers an alternative plan.

Seems the yogurt eating MOONBATS are afraid of losing their bid to take over the country.

Now… This is from a friend of mine about Whole Foods CEO John Mackey:

Mackey lectures at Universities about the horrors of factory farming
    * He says “Right now, Americans have to pretend factory farms don’t exist. They turn their eyes away, because there’s no alternative, there’s no choice. Once there is a choice, we will allow ourselves to be outraged.”
    * He makes $1 a year and donates his stock portfolio to charity.
    * He set up a $100,00 fund to help his employees with personal problems.
    * He’s a vegetarian and his company will not buy from producers that treat their animals unethically.
    * He flies commercial, rents the smallest cars, and stays in the cheapest hotel rooms – not because he’s cheap, but because he has no need for largesse
    * He and his wife participate in yoga
    * He gives over $1 million a year to animal welfare groups, education, relief work, and spiritual movements.
    * Employees have full say in who they work with – a new employee must receive a 2/3 vote in order to make it past probation.
    * Employees also vote on all company-wide initiatives
    * There’s a salary book in every store – “no secrets” management believes everyone should know how much everyone else is making
    * Executive salaries are capped at 14 times the lowest workers salary – If they want more money, everyone else has to get more money first
    * Non-executive employees hold 94% of company stock options
    * Pay is linked to team performance – profit sharing
    * At least 5% of annual profits go to local charities
    * Full-timers get 100% of their health care costs paid for – under plans the employees have selected
    * “They just have a lot more respect for you as a person here” says an employee

And because he had a different idea about how the United States can fix it health care situation, none of this matters? He’s a caring person and many of you want to treat him like a monster. Why? Not because he opposes reform, but because he’s bringing more ideas to the table.

You people are despicable. If the country had more CEO’s like Mackey, this country would be a greater place.

    I am personally appalled.

And I am ordering my Whole Foods Gift Cards HERE. It’s gonna be a Whole Foods Thanksgiving… and Christmas round here!

  25. Foxwood says:

Looks like my generation will get their wish…

  26. samhenry says:

Hi, VF and company. I’ve been out most of the day. Look what I came home to – more organizing:

    Jean —

On Thursday, an astounding 280,000 Organizing for America supporters gathered online to huddle with the President at our National Health Care Forum. With Congress about to return to Washington to make historic decisions on health insurance reform, the President chose this critical moment to speak directly to the OFA community. He reminded us of how far we’ve come and what we can accomplish together:
Remember one thing: Nothing is more powerful than millions of voices calling for change. That’s how we won this election. You know this, and that’s why since OFA launched its health reform campaign in June you’ve hosted 11,000 events in more than 2,500 towns in every single state and every single congressional district…I am absolutely confident that we can get this done, but I want everybody to remember, this has never been easy….We are not going to give up now. We are going to get this done.
Now it’s up to us to take the next step. This week, we need to make sure every member of Congress heads back to Washington hearing overwhelming support for change. Lies and fear must not have the last word about the health reform America so desperately needs. So here’s what you can do: Find and attend a “Let’s Get It Done: Health Insurance Reform Now” event near you.

There are thousands of events, in every part of the country. In some places, we’re rallying near local congressional offices to deliver signatures of support from voters. In others we’re meeting in high-traffic areas to offer passers-by an easy way to get the facts and call Congress, thanking those fighting for reform and urging others to stand with their constituents. Wherever you live, you can find a powerful way to show Congress, the media, and our neighbors that the American people have one clear message about health reform: Let’s get it done.

Thursday, the President made the stakes of reform crystal clear. He talked about how, with health care costs rising three times faster than wages, the cost of inaction is simply too high.

He explained how reform will guarantee competition and choice. He described the Insurance Guarantees that will protect every American from discrimination against pre-existing conditions, exorbitant charges, and arbitrary denials or reductions in coverage just when we need it most.

And he made plain his stance on the public option: “So let me just be clear: I continue to support a public option, I think it is important, and I think it will help drive down costs and give consumers choices.”

But even the best plan only matters if it passes, and that’s where we all have a critical role to play. As the President said:
And that’s why what all of you do is so important, because people trust you — your neighbors, your friends, fellow community members — they trust you. They know you. And if you are presenting the facts clearly and fairly, I’m absolutely confident that we’re going to win this debate. But we’re going to have a lot of work to do and I’m grateful that you’re willing to do it. Let’s go get ’em.
Answer the President’s call — find and attend an event near you:

    Let’s get it done,

    Jeremy Bird
    Deputy Director
    Organizing for America

    Absolutely wonderful post, VF.

Did you catch the Prez wishing the Muslim world a happy holiday today? I’m all for that except he does it as if it’s an inside joke between him and them. I’ll bet there’s a handshake as well.

  28. samhenry says:

VF, what with the post and this comment:

this guy is more full of surprises than a road in Bagdad

Are you preping for standup comedy this weekend? We all could use a little of that at this time! What a cat. Well, you certainly are not laid back just because it’s the weekend.

  29. samhenry says:

oops – time to deblog. Dinner for the dogs and me – early dinner. Hell, I had a wonderful Reubin at 11:00. I tell you lots of New York City kids go to the nearby college and demand good deli and I am happy about that. However, down here they don’t do chopped liver, etc. For that I have to go to the Emerald city. I get it and some Mogen David and I’m in heaven. When the clerk in the Deli said “you can eat these crackers with the liver and still keep kosher I looked at him and smiled and said – Ah but I don’t have to keep kosher if you know what I mean! And we both laughed and I finished buying every other kosher thing that I love there – stuffed cabbage, smaltz for when I bake chicken, etc. I live in the best of all gastronomic worlds and that’s a fact straight up.

  30. samhenry says:

Seems the yogurt eating MOONBATS are afraid of losing their bid to take over the country. – VF this phrase “yogurt eating moonbats – is too good to waste. I must have it.

WaPo says: “Seeking to ensure that President Obama has a less-than-restful vacation, a group opposed to the White House’s health-care proposals is launching an ad campaign this week that will run locally during his stay at Martha’s Vineyard, Mass.

“Conservatives for Patients’ Rights says it plans to run a spot titled “Surf’s Up” in the Martha’s Vineyard and Boston areas that implores the president to drop his pursuit of a public health insurance option. The ad is the latest salvo in a multimillion-dollar message war over the fate of health reform that has shown no sign of abating, even during the normally quiet final weeks of summer.”

    Here’s the ad:

  80. Foxwood says:

HaHaHaHa! Cloward Piven! I got your Cloward Piven!

  81. Foxwood says:

    Bill’s about to hit Martha’s Vineyard….

    Talk about Karma!

  82. m2 says:

do you guys know YouTube (google) “fixed” the star-rating on that ad. I rated it and it still says 140, the number won’t change. It was 140 rates before I rated it. Now it says I’ve “already rated” it… and it’s still 140.

They were found to do this a lot during the campaign.

Obama to raise 10-year deficit to $9 trillion
    Fri Aug 21, 2009 6:50pm EDT
    By Jeff Mason

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The Obama administration will raise its 10-year budget deficit projection to approximately $9 trillion from $7.108 trillion in a report next week, a senior administration official told Reuters on Friday.

The higher deficit figure, based on updated economic data, brings the White House budget office into line with outside estimates and gives further fuel to President Barack Obama’s opponents, who say his spending plans are too expensive in light of budget shortfalls.

The White House took heat for sticking with its $7.108 trillion forecast earlier this year after the Congressional Budget Office forecast that deficits between 2010 and 2019 would total $9.1 trillion.

“The new forecasts are based on new data that reflect how severe the economic downturn was in the late fall of last year and the winter of this year,” said the administration official, who is familiar with the budget mid-session review that is slated to be released next week.

“Our budget projections are now in line with the spring and summer projections that the Congressional Budget Office put out.”

The White House budget office will also lower its deficit forecast for this fiscal year, which ends September 30, to $1.58 trillion from $1.84 trillion next week after removing $250 billion set aside for bank bailouts.

Record-breaking deficits have raised concerns about America’s ability to finance its debt and whether the United States can maintain its top-tier AAA credit rating.

Politically, the deficit has been an albatross for Obama, a Democrat who is pushing forward with plans to overhaul the U.S. healthcare industry — an initiative that could cost up to $1 trillion over 10 years — and other promises, including reforming education and how the country handles energy.

Republicans have pounced on Obama for planning to spend too much when deficits are so high, and the issue is likely to loom large in next year’s Congressional elections.

Obama, who has promised to halve the deficit by the end of his four-year term and likes to remind constituents he inherited a $1.3 trillion deficit from former President George W. Bush, says bringing down healthcare costs is critical to long-term deficit reduction.

Treasury markets have been worried all year about the mounting deficit. The United States relies on large foreign buyers such as China and Japan to cheaply finance its debt, and they may demand higher interest rates if they begin to doubt that the government can control its deficits.

“It’s one of those underlying pieces of news that is liable to haunt the bond market at some point in the future,” said Kim Rupert, managing director of global fixed income analysis at Action Economics LLC in San Francisco, referring to the revised 10-year deficit projection.

Many economists think it is unlikely the government can curtail spending, which means taxes would have to go up to cover the rising costs of providing retirement and healthcare benefits to aging Americans.

Higher taxes, which could slow economic growth, are also a major concern of voters on both sides of the political divide. Obama has promised not to raise taxes on Americans making less than $250,000 a year.

  100. m2 says:

Hi VF! have a lovely night!!

Yes tellit, we stuffed ourselves at a real shoddy restaurant called Red Pepper. A Chinese place in what looked like a decrepit old Indian-styled restaurant (the windows were Taj shaped)… there were 4 different flavors of smell (not food smells) as we entered the back room and we ate with 14 friends in what lasted 3 hours.. the girl next to me never got her food.

Then we came home, I am now very happy to be at home.

  101. Foxwood says:

    Smooches SamH… Mouwa!

  102. m2 says:

M2, you don’t get up early enough to hear me shoot off my cannon…

  108. m2 says:

I wish we were at an Indian restaurant instead of an Indian themed architectural restaurant that serves chinese. They even had 2 different menus! The ‘safe american’ menu with my sweet and sour chicken choice, and the ‘authentic’ menu, with stomachs and ducks… etc.

Hmm the authentic one was Red.
    ha ha ha…

My food was very good though.

  109. m2 says:

o will health reform prove to be Mr Obama’s Waterloo, as Jim DeMint, a Republican senator, claimed recently? Not necessarily. Michael Cannon of the Cato Institute, a think-tank, opposes Mr Obama’s health proposals but believes it is still early days. The real battle is to come in the autumn session of Congress, beginning on September 8th. And the hornets’ nest of trouble stirred up by opponents of reform will not soon be forgotten.

This suggests that Mr Obama now faces a difficult choice. One option is to stick with his plans to tackle all the big problems of health at once, ranging from cost to coverage to quality. Another option is to scale back his ambitions, going for the less grand but still worthy goal of expanding health cover to the many tens of millions without it. A third option, giving up altogether, seems unlikely, since Democrats have big majorities in both houses of Congress (though it is possible that in-fighting among Mr Obama’s allies could yet scupper even modest reforms).

Officially, the White House is sticking with its original plan for comprehensive reform this year. Look closer, though, and it becomes clear that Mr Obama is signalling that he may soon backpedal in various ways. One example is the rebranding of health-care reform as “health-insurance reform”, a carefully worded phrase now repeated by all his officials. This might allow the administration quietly to back away from its “Big Bang” approach, and to claim victory if a timid health compromise manages only to improve coverage while largely ignoring questions of cost and quality.

Another example of back-pedalling is Mr Obama’s wavering support for a government-run health-insurance plan. Though this notion is wildly popular with the political left, conservatives and business lobbies loathe it. Concerned that moderate Democrats may vote against any final health bill containing such a controversial public plan, the administration this week softened its support for the notion. Mr Obama still advocates the idea, his aides insist, but is willing to live without it if that is the cost of a health deal.

Predictably, many liberals are outraged by any talk of weakening reforms. Robert Reich, a labour secretary under Bill Clinton, this week declared that leftists must march in support of the public plan in Washington, DC, on September 13th. Polls show support from Democrats plunging if no public plan is included.

If reform were to be scaled back, would that be a disaster? The loss of a public-plan option need not be. One reason is that support is growing for non-profit “co-ops” instead of a government-run plan to compete against private insurers—though it looks as though the Republicans are gearing up to attack these, too. A bigger reason is that pioneering reformers in Europe and in Massachusetts have shown that universal coverage is achievable without a government-run insurer. Among the policies needed are strong regulation of insurers to prevent bad behaviour, subsidies for the poor and the creation of health-insurance exchanges.

But surely going only for coverage now just delays the task of cost control until later? Yes, but that is a good thing, argues Jon Kingsdale. As head of the Commonwealth Connector, the official insurance exchange set up in Massachusetts, he has seen at first hand how the raucous politics of reform have unfolded in his state. Michael Dukakis, a former governor, tried to fix health care 20 years ago, but the law he pushed through the legislature eventually came undone in the teeth of business opposition. The new reforms, passed three years ago, have cut the number of uninsured in half, so that only 2.6% of people in the state are now without insurance.

Hasn’t this politically attractive entitlement simply made the cost problem worse? After all, many economists argue that national health reforms must tackle costs hand-in-hand with coverage or else be deemed reckless. On the contrary, says Mr Kingsdale, sequencing reforms slowly and building support through expansion of coverage has now made it politically feasible for his state to tackle the cost problem. The key, he insists, is to see reform not as a Big Bang but a continuing process.

To bolster his contrarian argument, he points out that an officially appointed committee of experts has just recommended that his state scrap the fee-for-service model of reimbursement, which many economists believe is at the heart of America’s health-inflation problem. Doing so would require his state to get a special waiver from the federal government, but this radical and hugely worthwhile proposal is now being seriously considered. Sadly, the idea is nowhere to be found in the leading bills in Washington, DC.

Mr Kingsdale does acknowledge that it is easier to pull off reform in a small and wealthy state like his than it would be at the national level, and accepts that his state has not yet actually passed any legislation that would curb health inflation. And given Congress’s history of fiscal irresponsibility, it is surely right to be sceptical about any strategy that expands entitlements today in the hope of forcing a fiscal crisis to win support for cost cuts tomorrow.

Mr Kingsdale sums it up this way: “Trying to anticipate and address related cost, quality and access issues in one national reform would be more than Herculean—it would be Sisyphean…Herculean effort, followed by failure, then a renewed attempt at reform, ad infinitum.” Sadly, that infernal tableau describes all too well the fate of most health reforms attempted since the days of Theodore Roosevelt. Lyndon Johnson was the only exception. Can Mr Obama provide another one?

I don’t think this is one of those viral e-mails because my good friend is a friend of the man who sent this to her; he is the cousin but asked if his name would be removed in forwarding. This can easily be confirmed by the local press:

Not from my cousin. This is from a friend.
    Telling, to say the least.

Well folks, I just received the following via
email from my cousin’s wife. She sent it to all on her mail list. They
live in Bozeman , Montana . The only thing I’ve changed in the email is
my cousin’s name, for the sake of privacy. My cousin was a Navy pilot.
He then flew commercial jets until his retirement. He still flies his
own plane and is very involved with the airport operations near their
home. He is one of the most patriotic people I know, AND both he and his
wife hold themselves to the highest standards of integrity. The
following email describes their experience at Obama’s “town hall”
    meeting in Montana .
    Hello All,

By now you have probably heard that President
Obama came to Montana last Friday. However, there are many things that
the major news has not covered. I feel that since Joe and I live here
and we were at the airport on Friday I should share some facts with you.
Whatever you decide to do with the information is up to you. If you
chose to share this email with others I do ask that you DELETE my email
address before you forward this on.

On Wednesday, August 5th it was announced
locally that the President would be coming here. There are many groups
here that are against his healthcare and huge spending so those groups
began talking and deciding on what they were going to do. The White
House would not release ANY details other than the date.

On about Tuesday Joe found out that they would
be holding the “Town Hall” at the airport. (This is only because Joe
knows EVERYONE at the airport) Our airport is actually located outside
of Belgrade (tiny town) in a very remote location. Nothing is around
there. They chose to use a hangar that is the most remotely located
hangar. You could not pick a more remote location, and you can not get
to it easily. It is totally secluded from the public.
FYI: We have many areas in Belgrade and Bozeman
which could have held a large amount of folks with sufficient parking.
(gymnasiums/auditoriums). All of which have chairs and tables, and would
not have to be SHIPPED IN!! $$$$$
During the week, cargo by the TONS was being
shipped in constantly. Airport employees could not believe how it just
kept coming. Though it was our President coming several expressed how
excessive it was, especially during a recession. $$$$$

Late Tuesday/early Wednesday the 12th, they said
that tickets would be handed out on Thursday 9am at two locations and
the president would be arriving around 12:30 Friday.

Thursday morning about 600 tickets were passed
out. However, 1500 were printed at a Local printing shop per White House
    request. Hmmmm……900 tickets just DISAPPEARED.
This same morning someone called into the radio
from the local UPS branch and said that THOUSANDS of Dollars of Lobster
were shipped in for Obama. Montana has some of the best beef in the
nation!!! And it would have been really wonderful to help out the local
economy. Anyone heard of the Recession?? Just think…with all of the
traveling the White House is doing. $$$$$ One can only imagine what else
    we are paying for.

On Friday Joe and I got out to the airport about
10:45am. The groups that wanted to protest Obama’s spending and
healthcare had gotten a permit to protest and that area was roped off.
But that was not to be. A large bus carrying SEIU (Service Employees
International Union) members drove up onto the area (illegal)and
unloaded right there. It was quite a commotion and there were
specifically 2 SEIU men trying to make trouble and start a fight. Police
did get involved and arrested the one man but they said they did not
have the manpower to remove the SEIU crowd.
The SEIU crowd was very organized and young.
About 99% were under the age of 30 and they were not locals! They had
bullhorns and PROFESSIONALLY made signs. Some even wore preprinted
T-shirts. Oh, and Planned Parenthood folks were with them…..professing
abortion rights with their T-shirts and preprinted signs. (BTW, all
these folks did have a permit to protest in ANOTHER area)

    Those against healthcare/spending moved away
from the SEIU crowd to avoid confrontation. They were orderly and
respectful. Even though SEIU kept coming over and walking through,
continuing to be very intimidating and aggressive at the direction of
    the one SEIU man.

So we had Montana folks from ALL OVER the state
with their homemade signs and their DOGS with homemade signs. We had
cowboys, nurses, doctors you name it. There was even a guy from Texas
who had been driving through. He found out about the occasion, went to
the store, made a sign, and came to protest.

If you are wondering about the press…..Well,
all of the major networks were over by that remote hangar I mentioned.
They were conveniently parked on the other side of the buildings FAR
away. None of these crowds were even visible to them. I have my doubts
that they knew anything about the crowds.
We did have some local news media around us from
this state and Idaho . Speaking of the local media…they were invited.
However, all questions were to be turned into the White House in advance
of the event. Wouldn’t want anyone to have to think off the top of their

It was very obvious that it was meant to be
totally controlled by the White House. Everything was orchestrated down
to the last detail to make it appear that Montana is just crazy for
Obama and government healthcare. Even those people that talked about
their insurance woes……..the White House called our local HRDC (Human
Resource and Development Committee) and asked for names. Then the White
House asked those folks to come. Smoke and mirrors…EVERYTHING was

I am very dismayed about what I learned about
our current White House. The amount of control and manipulation was
unbelievable. I felt I was not living in the United States of America ,
more like the USSR !! I was physically nauseous. Joe and I have been
around when Presidents or Heads of State visit. It has NEVER been like
this. I am truly very frightened for our country. America needs your
prayers and your voices. If you care about our country please get
involved. Know the issues. And let Congress hear your voices again and
again!! If they are willing to put forth so much effort to BULLY a small
town one can only imagine what is going on in Washington DC . Scary!!

Congressman Herger calls Obama plan ‘threat to democracy’

Republican Congressman Wally Herger of northern California denounced president Obama’s health care plan at an Aug. 18, 2009 town hall meeting in Redding, Calif.

    Redding, Calif. –

Republican Congressman Wally Herger held a health care town hall meeting Aug. 18 at Simpson University in Redding, where a partisan crowd of over 2,000 people loudly cheered Herger’s position that a public option was “unacceptable.”
Although Herger called several times for the audience to “respect each other’s opinions,” those opposed to president Obama’s health care were greeted with cheers while the few in favor were interrupted with catcalls.
Herger did not hold back on his opinion of the health care plan and the administration’s appointment of “czars” to head various departments and task forces.
“Our democracy has never been threatened as much as it is today,” Herger said to a loud standing ovation.
Although there were not the kind of disruptions that have been reported at Democratic representative’s town hall meetings, an altercation in the back of the auditorium resulted in Redding police having to intervene and hustle two people out of the room. Police reported that a woman is alleged to have clawed a man’s face in repose to his having pushed her while arguing over the health care plan. The investigation continues.
After denouncing the Obama plan to wild cheering, Herger offered a few solutions of his own including opening up competition among private health care companies by forcing companies to sell policies nationwide rather than just within individual states, tort reform to bring down malpractice costs and “risk pools like automobile companies” for those with preexisting conditions who Herger conceded are unable to get coverage. He also suggested “bargaining groups and associations” could help bring down costs.
“Health care costs have soared,” Herger said. “But I will oppose a public option with everything I have.”
Speakers included several opposed to Obama holding up copies of the Constitution and asking Herger to show where it says Congress has the right to be involved in health care.
Herger said the federal government does have a limited role to play in health care noting, “We do lots of things that are not in the Constitution.”
“There are things we can do with health care, as long as the government is not running it,” Herger said.
One speaker said he could trace his ancestors back to the Mayflower and said “they did not arrive holding their hands out for help.”
“I am a proud right wing terrorist,” he declared to cheers.
    Herger praised the man’s attitude.
“Amen, God bless you,” Herger said with a broad smile. “There is a great American.”

Even the evils of the Marxists, in Russia, were a Western import. Compared to what those Marxists, such as Lenin and Stalin suffered from the Orthodox Christian Tsar, when they were sent to Siberia, it is an almost comical comparison. Both were exiled to live in a Siberian village, unable to leave but able take guests and write letters.

The world may celebrate the end of the Western civilization

64 still missing in Russia’s largest hydroelectric power plant accident

Following all of this was the next logical step: termination of the physically deformed, the invalids, the mentally ill. The first victims of Hitler, after all, were fellow Germans and not even the anti-Nazi aristocrats; they came second. The practice died off after WW2, only to return in force in the 1990s and fully in the new Devil’s Western century. The so called Western democracies, the champions of so called human rights, though never of God’s laws, are now screaming at the top of their lungs the “right” to a quality life, whose allegory is: if you are deformed, handicapped or old and infirm, your quality of life is low and thus you are better off dead. This vile, paganistic, Luciferian approach, again, even worse than anything that the Mohamedans thought up for their own people, is an affront to God of incredible degrees.

Further more, the drive to have the elderly person commit suicide, or as the agents of Lucifer prefer to call it: to self terminate with dignity, is to have the subject damn their soul for all eternity. Suicide is self murder and that is one murder that can not be sought forgiveness for. In Russian, our word for suicide is: Самоубийство or quite literally: self-murder. We do not have the right to terminate the gift of life that God gave us. Just because we live in pain does not mean that we do not live to fulfill some aspect of God’s plan. The pain is a test of our faith in God, something to work through and to continue to seek to serve God. As such, suicide, self-murder, is an escape of our responsibilities before God. What ever good could still be done, is now terminated.

Many of these concepts are alien to our cultures, many others were imported with the Marxist revolution and we are still suffering their ill effects. On abortion, Russia, which still allows it, has curtailed it to the first 12 weeks and there is much pressure to end this murder fully. Euthanasia is illegal in Russia. Eugenics is also something that never took root and with the Orthodox Church the leading moral authority of the land, once more, it never will.

Now let us pray that the Orthodox Church will be powerful enough to restore Christianity to Europe and N. America, in the wake of the catastrophic failures of both Catholicism and Protestantism.

And here from the UK’s INDEPENDENT perhaps the REAL reason the Obamas chose the Vineyard (notice we have to go to foreign newspapers to get a grasp of what is really going on here)

Here, in fact, is exactly why Martha’s Vineyard was a natural choice for America’s first black commander-in-chief. For all its reputation as a summer playground for the elite, it is by no means an all-white one. Indeed, for generations, the island – the regulars refer to it as the Rock – has also been a favourite for holidaying black families, which goes to explain, for instance, the vigorous activities of the Cottagers Society. The history of racial integration dates back even to the days of slavery, perhaps because Massachusetts was alone among states in allowing slaves to inherit property. The island’s only black whaling-ship captain was the great-grandson of a slave woman on the island who was also a landowner. Another important figure is Charles Shearer. Born into slavery in Virginia, he came to Martha’s Vineyard and with his wife built a 12-room inn, Shearer Cottage.

Obama’s socialist backing goes back at least to 1996, when he received the endorsement of the Chicago branch of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) for an Illinois state senate seat. Later, the Chicago DSA newsletter reported that Obama, as a state senator, showed up to eulogize Saul Mendelson, one of the “champions” of “Chicago’s democratic left” and a long-time socialist activist. Obama’s stint as a “community organizer” in Chicago has gotten some attention, but his relationship with the DSA socialists, who groomed and backed him, has been generally ignored.

Blogger Steve Bartin, who has been following Obama’s career and involvement with the Chicago socialists, has uncovered a fascinating video showing Obama campaigning for openly socialist Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont. Interestingly, Sanders, who won his seat in 2006, called Obama “one of the great leaders of the United States Senate,” even though Obama had only been in the body for about two years. In 2007, the National Journal said that Obama had established himself as “the most liberal Senator.” More liberal than Sanders? That is quite a feat. Does this make Obama a socialist, too?

DSA describes itself as the largest socialist organization in the United States and the principal U.S. affiliate of the Socialist International. The Socialist International (SI) has what is called “consultative status” with the United Nations. In other words, it works hand-in-glove with the world body.

A little more socialist jewelry to hang around Obama’s neck:

    From freerepublic.com

But, his socialist foundation was probably shaped most during those early days at the Socialist (Marxist) conferences he attended in New York City:

Obama wrote that the wealth and stark racial divisions of Manhattan in the early 1980s had a profound effect on him…

He went to socialist conferences at Cooper Union and African cultural fairs in Brooklyn and started lecturing his relatives until they worried he’d become “one of those freaks you see on the streets around here.”

So, the real question that USA Today should be asking- but won’t -is not if America is ready for a “rookie” in the White House, but rather, if America is ready for a socialist in the White House!
