This is happening on the coat tails of Proof of Socialist Astroturfing and trading in False Pretenses at the Town Hall Meeting hosted by Shelia “My Cell Phone is more important than your question” Jackson-Lee.

Of course we all are now aware of the outright slap in the face by Shela “The Town Hall Socialist Queen” Jackson-Lee as she ignores a valid question by a non-Socialist.

But!!!! Are you aware of this Socialist Party Member scheme to spin up Racial Hatred on Facebook???

You see… there is this Socialist guy by the name of Dyron Hart. He created a face book account and used it to mount a Racist Hate Attack on Black Americans.

Shocking, Yes? Watch This!

Lets take a look at this report posted yesterday at Fox NEWS…

Black Man Pleads Guilty to Posing as Obama-Hating White Supremacist on Facebook

Friday, August 14, 2009

NEW ORLEANS  —  An African-American man from Mississippi admits posing as a white supremacist to send a death threat across state lines by Facebook.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office says 20-year-old Dyron L. Hart of Poplarville pleaded guilty Wednesday in federal court to making a threat in November 2008.

Hart admitted creating a name and using a white supremacists’ photo to pose as a white man who planned to kill blacks because Barack Obama had been elected president.

NOW…Let’s look back and see what was reported on Nov. 17, 2008 at Outlook Series…

DYRON HART Charged for Race Based Political Death Threats on Facebook

November 17, 2008

DYRON HART, age 19, was arrested and charged by criminal complaint with sending threatening emails.

The black man stands accused of posing as a white racist and threatening to kill black students because Barack Obama won the presidential election.

Three students at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux reported the incident to authorities. The students claimed they received an identical e-mail on Facebook.

The e-mail threatened to kill the students because they are black and will soon have a black president, an FBI agent’s affidavit said.

Part of the e-mail had this to say: “By the time you’ve read this I will have already planned on how I will kill you. I’m just letting you know so your (sic) not surprised when a random white man is walking down the street just split your (expletive deleted) head wide open.”

The FBI identified Hart as the sender of the emails by subpoenaing wireless data records, according to the complaint. Records show Hart identified himself on Facebook as Colten Brodoux.

The FBI agent testified Hart admitted he sent the message to people on his “friends” list, including students at NSU, Louisiana State University, the University of Mississippi, the University of Alabama and individuals near his hometown.

FBI Special Agent in Charge David Welker warned: “The FBI, with our law enforcement partners, will continue to vigorously investigate and arrest those individuals who commit these crimes as we will not tolerate these violations of federal law. These investigations place a strain on law enforcement and violators will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

U.S. Attorney Jim Letten stated: “Yesterday’s arrest by the FBI and our federal response should serve as a powerful signal to all we serve that vile and threatening communications will not be tolerated and will be met with swift response.”

HART faces a maximum term of imprisonment of five (5) years, a fine of $250,000.00 and three (3) years of supervised release.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Jay Golden said Hart was released on bond with an order to appear in federal court in New Orleans on Nov. 24.

The case was investigated by the FBI, LSP, Nicholls State University Police Department, and Poplarville Mississippi Police Department and prosecuted by the Assistant United States Attorney’s Office, Eastern District of Louisiana. The public is reminded that a criminal complaint is merely a charge, and the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

The maximum sentence is five years in prison and a $250,000 fine; sentencing is Nov. 18.

He sent the threats from a computer in Poplarville.

He originally was charged with threatening three black students at Nicholls State — where he had attended one semester — but pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count.

Looks like White House staff focused more on the letter and less on letter of the law written and unwritten about privacy. So did the White House strike a deal for an additional list? Stimulus Package? The Hell with Our Constitution
by Walter Williams (February 11, 2009)

Dr. Robert Higgs, senior fellow at the Oakland-based Independent Institute, penned an article in The Christian Science Monitor (2/9/2009) that suggests the most intelligent recommendation that I’ve read to fix our current economic mess. The title of his article gives his recommendation away: “Instead of stimulus, do nothing — seriously.”

Stimulus package debate is over how much money should be spent, whether some should given to the National Endowment for the Arts, research sexually transmitted diseases or bail out Amtrak, our failing railroad system. Dr. Higgs says, “Hardly anyone, however, is asking the most important question: Should the federal government be doing any of this?” He adds, “Until the 1930s, the Constitution served as a major constraint on federal economic interventionism. The government’s powers were understood to be just as the framers intended: few and explicitly enumerated in our founding document and its amendments. Search the Constitution as long as you like, and you will find no specific authority conveyed for the government to spend money on global-warming research, urban mass transit, food stamps, unemployment insurance, Medicaid, or countless other items in the stimulus package and, even without it, in the regular federal budget.”

By bringing up the idea of constitutional restraints on Washington, I’d say Dr. Higgs is whistling Dixie. Americans have long ago abandoned respect for the constitutional limitations placed on the federal government. Our elected representatives represent that disrespect. After all I’d ask Higgs: Isn’t it unreasonable to expect a politician to do what he considers to be political suicide, namely conduct himself according to the letter and spirit of the Constitution?

While Americans, through ignorance or purpose, show contempt for our Constitution, I doubt whether they are indifferent between a growing or stagnating economy. Dr. Higgs tells us some of the economic history of the U.S. In 1893, there was a depression; we got out of it without a stimulus package. There was a major recession of 1920-21; though sharp, it quickly reversed itself into what has been call the “Roaring Twenties.” In 1929, there was an economic downturn, most notably featured by the stock market collapse, after which came massive government intervention — you might call it the nation’s first stimulus package. President Hoover and Congress responded to what might have been a two- or three-year sharp downturn with many of the policies President Obama and Congress are urging today. They raised tariffs, propped up wage rates, bailed out farmers, banks and other businesses, and financed state relief efforts. When Roosevelt came to office, he became even more interventionist than Hoover and presided over protracted depression where the economy didn’t fully recover until 1946.

Roosevelt didn’t have an easy time with his agenda; he had to first emasculate the U.S. Supreme Court. Higgs points out that federal courts had respect for the Constitution as late as the 1930s. They issued some 1,600 injunctions to restrain officials from carrying out acts of Congress. The U.S. Supreme Court overturned as unconstitutional the New Deal’s centerpieces such as the National Industrial Recovery Act and the Agricultural Adjustment Act and other parts of Roosevelt’s “stimulus package.” An outraged Roosevelt threatened to pack the Court, and the Court capitulated to where it is today giving Congress virtually unlimited powers to tax, spend and regulate. My question to my fellow Americans is: Do we want a repeat of measures that failed dismally during the 1930s?

A more fundamental question is: Should Washington be guided by the Constitution? In explaining the Constitution, James Madison, the acknowledged father of the Constitution, wrote in Federalist Paper 45: “The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the State governments are numerous and indefinite. The former will be exercised principally on external objects, as war, peace, negotiation, and foreign commerce.” Has the Constitution been amended to permit Congress to tax, spend and regulate as it pleases or have Americans said, “To hell with the Constitution”?

  40. LisaInTX says:

From Mike Huckabea ex-gov of AR,

In July 2007, Barack Obama promised a group of his supporters that, if elected president, he would sign perhaps the most evil piece of legislation in the history of our republic.

It’s called the “Freedom of Choice Act,” or FOCA — but don’t let the Orwellian title fool you. It isn’t about “freedom” or “choice” at all. It’s about forcing each and every American citizen — regardless of his or her view on abortion — to support abortion-on-demand not just as a “fundamental right” but as a taxpayer-funded entitlement.

But the compulsion wouldn’t stop there. Because FOCA would also run roughshod over the conscience rights of doctors, nurses, and hospitals that oppose abortion on religious or moral grounds — forcing them to provide or counsel for abortion or face professional de-certification, loss of funding, lawsuits, and even prosecution.

Not only that, FOCA would immediately strike down any and all state restrictions on abortion — even those with wide popular support, such as prohibitions on partial-birth abortion and parental notification requirements for minors seeking abortions.

Make no mistake: FOCA is the most radical piece of pro-abortion legislation ever proposed, one that would go far beyond Roe v. Wade in making abortion a government-protected and taxpayer-supported “right,” through all nine months of pregnancy.

That’s why I’m asking you today to support HUMAN EVENTS in its efforts to stop this outrageous piece of legislation before it ever reaches President Obama’s desk.

Let me explain why this is possible — and how
HUMAN EVENTS plans to do it…
You see, in his 2007 campaign pledge to Planned Parenthood members, Obama promised that signing FOCA would be “the first thing I’d do as president.” The only reason he hasn’t followed through on that promise is that Democratic-controlled Congress has yet to introduce and pass it.

Why the delay? For one thing, they’ve had bigger fish to fry — such as trillion-dollar “stimulus” packages and a new government-run health care system. They learned from Bill Clinton’s immediate post-election action on gays in the military not to squander a new president’s honeymoon period on divisive social legislation.

But also, by delaying, they can lull their pro-life opponents into thinking that FOCA has been tabled, while quietly building support for it in a stealth propaganda campaign that is already underway using major media outlets — such as the Washington Post, which recently ran a piece in its “On Faith” section called “Why Fear FOCA?”

But with your help, HUMAN EVENTS will defeat the pro-abortionists’ “stealth” media campaign with its own media blitzkrieg designed to counter pro-FOCA lies and propaganda with the facts.

This was from a friend of mine….how very interesting!!!

This is What does a date cost?
    Date: Aug 13, 2009 3:20 PM
From a former Air Force Colonel….

    Subject: The Date

First, let me say that I’ve moved three presidents up to now and I’ve
seen incredible waste. But, the “new” guy really takes the cake.

I don’t have an issue with the President promising his wife dinner and a show or that he even takes his wife out.

But, when I saw the news say that the date cost $24,000, here’s what you DON’T know.

Three days before “dinner” a C-17 flew Marines and the helicopter maintenance equipment to JFK Airport .

The day before “dinner” I flew the USSS and the motorcade to JFK Airport

Our crew of 5 spent two days and nights at the Hilton in Times Square. My hotel bill: $621.66 plus $64 a day in per diem. The USSS guys were at a different Hilton in NYC, so figure that cost another $14,000 (or so) plus per diem. The Marines had to have cost as much and were there four days, so figure another $55,000 plus per diem (for 44 Marines).
We were supposed to fly the motorcade back and go home, but the Air
Force was so short C-17’s that we were re-tasked to take the motorcade back, return to JFK and take the helicopter back to Quantico .

When we got back to JFK, while the pilot was turning the plane around
to park, he noticed a rotor blade sticking out of the hangar where the
helicopter was parked and informed me that either it wasn’t ready to
transport or it was flying home. After shutting down I walked over to the hangar and to my surprise I find FIVE helicopters, not ONE.

We’re obviously not transporting five big helicopters. I went and
talked to the Marines guarding the “fleet” and found that they were flying all five helicopters home and we were only transporting the Marines and the maintenance equipment. After talking to the Marine(s) in charge, I was told that the White House requested FIVE helicopters. The Marines told me that they spent all morning trying to figure out how much it cost them to come and said they figured it cost them $140,000 to stay there (I don’t know where they came up with that)and the trip’s total had to be about $1,000,000.
We heard that the President didn’t use Air Force One (the 747) so I
asked if he came in on one of the 757’s. I was told that he came in on
    THREE Air Force Lear jets.
    So, date night consisted of:
2 C-17’s flying three missions, 3 Lear jets, 5 Helicopters,
Presidential Motorcade, 44 Marines, more than 20 USSS personnel on our plane. Who knows what it cost the NYPD and NY Port Authority (at the airport) in overtime.

These are the same people that chastised the automobile CEO’s for
using their aircraft. It further proves that the media only use the facts
that make the President look good and hide any facts that will detract
    from his persona..
Is this the ‘change’ we expected?

Talk with friends and those who are not blinded by charisma. Many
folks I know who voted for Obama are very disappointed and sorry they did so.

    Social Security 2009

    Propose this in 2009:

    ———— ——— ——— —-

(This is worth reading. It is short and to the point.)

Perhaps we are asking the wrong questions during election years.

Our Senators and Congresswomen do not pay into Social Security and, of course, they do not collect from it.

You see, Social Security benefits were not suitable for persons of their rare elevation in society. They felt they should have a special plan for themselves so many years ago they voted in their own benefit plan.

In more recent years, no congress person has felt the need to change it. After all, it is a great plan.

For all practical purposes their plan works like this:

When they retire, they continue to draw the same pay until they die.
Except it may increase from time to time for cost of living adjustments. …..

For example, Senator Byrd and Congressman White and their wives may expect to draw $7, 800,000.00 (that’s Seven Million, Eight-Hundred Thousand Dollars), with their wives drawing $275, 000..00 during the last years of their lives.
This is calculated on an average life span for each of those Dignitaries.

Younger Dignitaries who retire at an early age, will receive much more during the rest of their lives.

Their cost for this excellent plan to them is $0.00. NADA!!! ZILCH!!!

    This little perk they voted for themselves is free to them. You and I pick up the tab for this plan. The funds for this fine retirement plan come directly from the General Funds;

    >From our own Social Security Plan, which you and I pay (or have paid) into, every payday until we retire (which amount is matched by our employer), We can expect to get an average of
    $1,000 per month after retirement.

Or, in other words, we would have to collect our average of $1,000 monthly benefits for 68 years and one (1) month to equal Senator Bill Bradley’s benefits!

Social Security could be very good if only one small change were made.

    That change would be to

Jerk the Golden Fleece Retirement Plan from under the Senators and Congressmen. . Put them into the Social Security plan with the rest of us

    Then sit back…..

And see how fast they would fix it!

If enough people receive this, maybe a seed of awareness will be planted and maybe good changes will evolve.

How many people can YOU send this to?

    Better yet……

How many people WILL you send this to ?

A principal and an athletic director in Florida could be charged with crimes and spend six months in jail after they prayed before a meal at a school event, the Washington Times reported.

Pace High School Principal Frank Lay and athletic director Robert Freeman will go on trial in federal district court Sept. 17. They’re accused of violating the conditions of a lawsuit settlement reached last year with the American Civil Liberties Union, according to the Times.

Local pastors and some students and teachers are outraged that Lay and Freeman face criminal charges, and they have protested during graduation ceremonies, the newspaper said.

“I have been defending religious freedom issues for 22 years, and I’ve never had to defend somebody who has been charged criminally for praying,” said Mathew Staver, founder and chairman of Liberty Counsel, the Christian-based legal group that is defending the two school officials.

But an ACLU official said the Santa Rosa County School District has been guilty of “flagrant” First Amendment violations for years, the Times reported.

“The defendants all admitted wrongdoing,” said Daniel Mach, ACLU’s director of litigation for its freedom of religion program. “For example, the Pace High School teachers handbook asks teachers to ’embrace every opportunity to inculcate, by precept and example, the practice of every Christian virtue.'”

The case stems from a Jan. 28 incident in which Lay, a local Baptist church deacon, asked Freeman to offer mealtime prayers at a lunch for school employees. Staver said no students were there and the event took place on school property after hours.

Mach countered that the event was held during the school day and Lay has admitted in writing that there were students present, according to the newspaper.

The ACLU contends that the allowance of the lunchtime prayer was a breach of last year’s settlement, in which the district promised, among other things, to prohibit all school employees from promoting prayers during school-sponsored events, espousing their religious beliefs and trying to convert students.

  83. karmahd says:

Entryism (or entrism or enterism) is a political tactic by which an organisation or state encourages its members or agents to infiltrate another organisation in an attempt to gain recruits, or take over entirely.

In situations where the organisation being “entered” is hostile to entryism, the entryists may engage in a degree of subterfuge to hide the fact that they are, in fact, an organisation in their own right. In the case of the Militant tendency, this was done by claiming that the tendency was in fact simply a newspaper, Militant, its editorial board and readers. Militant was open about its support for Trotskyism and revolutionary socialism. Other entryist groups have gone to the extent of hiding both their political views and their organisational existence.

Entryism does not involve dissolving the small organisation into the larger one. Entryism is often (but not always) done secretly and often in organisations run on democratic centralist lines. Entryism is seen by some as a logical conclusion from Leninist political theory which postulates that a “revolutionary vanguard” can successfully foment a revolution within a larger capitalist society, but according to some, the strategy of entryism is as old as politics itself

  84. karmahd says:

Many Anti-Masons believe that “high-ranking” Freemasons are involved in conspiracies to create an occult New World Order. These conspiracy theorists claim that some of the Founding Fathers of the United States, such as George Washington and Benjamin Franklin, had Masonic symbolism and sacred geometry interwoven into American society, particularly in the Great Seal of the United States, the United States one-dollar bill, the architecture of National Mall landmarks, and the streets and highways of Washington, D.C.. They speculate that Freemasons did this in order to mystically bind their planning of a government in conformity with the divine plan of the Great Architect of the Universe whom, they are said to believe, has tasked the United States with the eventual establishment of an hermetic “Kingdom of God on Earth” and the building of the Third Temple in New Jerusalem as its holiest site.

  85. karmahd says:

Many conspiracy theorists speculate that the New World Order is being implemented gradually, citing the formation of the U.S. Federal Reserve System in 1913; the International Monetary Fund in 1944; the United Nations in 1945; the World Bank in 1945; the World Health Organization in 1948; the European Union and the euro currency in 1993; the World Trade Organization in 1998; and the African Union in 2002 as major milestones.[2]

An increasingly popular conspiracy theory among American paleoconservatives is that the hypothetical North American Union and the amero currency, proposed by the Council on Foreign Relations and their counterparts in Mexico and Canada, will be the next implementation of the New World Order. The theory holds that a group of shadowy and mostly nameless international elites are planning to replace the federal government of the United States with a transnational government. Therefore, conspiracy theorists believe the borders between Mexico, Canada and the United States are in the process of being erased, covertly, by a group of globalists whose ultimate goal is to replace national governments in Washington, D.C., Ottawa and Mexico City with a European-style political union and a bloated EU-style bureaucracy.[49]

In March 2009, as a result of the global financial crisis of 2008–2009, China and Russia have pressed for urgent consideration of a world currency and a UN panel has proposed greatly expanding the IMF’s Special Drawing Rights. Conspiracy theorists have interpreted the proposal of a global currency as vindication of their beliefs about an eventual supranational currency for the New World Order.

  86. samiam60 says:

I too have heard of this Karma. Although speculation it is a fitting piece to the puzzle.

  87. karmahd says:

The sheer magnitude and complex web of deceit surrounding the individuals and organizations involved in this conspiracy is mind boggling, even for the most astute among us. Most people react with disbelief and skepticism towards the topic, unaware that they have been conditioned (brainwashed) to react with skepticism by institutional and media influences. Author and de-programmer Fritz Springmeier (The Top 13 Illuminati Bloodlines) says that most people have built in “slides” that short circuit the mind’s critical examination process when it comes to certain sensitive topics. “Slides”, Springmeier reports, is a CIA term for a conditioned type of response which dead ends a person’s thinking and terminates debate or examination of the topic at hand. For example, the mention of the word “conspiracy” often solicits a slide response with many people.

What most people believe to be “Public Opinion” is in reality carefully crafted and scripted propaganda designed to elicit a desired behavioral response from the public. Public opinion polls are really taken with the intent of gauging the public’s acceptance of the New World Order’s planned programs. A strong showing in the polls tells them that the programming is “taking”, while a poor showing tells the NWO manipulators that they have to recast or “tweak” the programming until the desired response is achieved

  88. LisaInTX says:

I remember hearing the term “NWO” as far back as Nixon…..seems most/all the presidents since then have utter the words NWO at some point. This is the REAL conspiracy IMO and is NOT a party line issue, but one based on promoting power and control world wide.
Even Reagan stated the words NWO…..:-/
It’s just scary…..I just finished watching a video about the “All Seeing eye” as seen on the back of our dollar…..seems that symbol is in just about EVERY country… that can not be a mere coincidence….they are there for a reason!

  89. samiam60 says:

The Pope in Rome also has a view of a One World Order that is different from the one we are seeing unfold before our very eyes.

The Bible states that the Generation that see’s Israel restored to their land shall not pass away until the end of all things is accomplished.

Israel was given back their land in May of 1948.

  90. karmahd says:

It is a fact that in time a New World Order will take place, what is not clear is the motivations that push us to that goal. Altruism does NOT appear to be the end result, but power and control, man is a weak beast, and will dig his own grave in the grail of omnipotent desire for power!

  91. LisaInTX says:

The volume is off at places on this video, but just watch and see how many places the “All Seeing Eye” is located!!! WOW…blew my mind for sure—I had no idea!!

  94. samiam60 says:

  95. LisaInTX says:

IMO…Nationalizing the banks gave him control of them….no I think that was planned long ago and now when our dollar collapses, the NWO can push a ONE WORLD MONEY with great ease.

  96. samhenry says:

What happens to the captains of industry – in the banks who thought they would have control? Is what we are seeing is a shift from a private to a public world order? China wants one currency, etc.

  97. LisaInTX says:

I wonder if the meaning has meant different things to some, such as the free masons, and another to the true followers of Lucifer??
I just do not see the free mason as being evil….and I sure can not see George Washington nor our found fathers that were members, as evil…..Their words and actions do NOT ring as evil in the least!!

  98. LisaInTX says:

I think you are right on. The shift is being made towards that one world currency, but our government “powers that be” must totally collapse our dollar to implement this transition. I fear it is coming sooner rather than later.

  99. Foxwood says:

Winston Churchill was heard to use the term “World Order”.

  100. LisaInTX says:

Here is one version of what it means?

The All-Seeing Eye — a single human eye surrounded by radiating beams of light — is found in many eras and cultures. It is generally a symbol of the watchful and protective power of the Supreme Being, especially when that entity is considered in a solar or heavenly context. It appears on the Great Seal of the United States, and is among the many beautiful symbols of Freemasonry, where it represents the Great Architect of the Universe.

  101. LisaInTX says:

Could this symbol have double meaning??
Guess we’ll find out at some point huh?

Key Tory MPs backed call to dismantle NHS
    • Shadow ministers signed radical plan
    • Health at centre of poll strategy – PM

David Cameron was facing a battle to restore party unity behind his health policy last night after it emerged that several of his key shadow cabinet members put their names to a manifesto criticising the NHS and calling for it in effect to be dismantled.

The Observer can reveal that leading Tory MPs – who include Cameron’s close ally Michael Gove – are listed alongside controversial MEP Daniel Hannan as co-authors of a book, Direct Democracy, which says the NHS “fails to meet public expectations” and is “no longer relevant in the 21st century”.

Others listed as co-authors in the book, published shortly after the 2005 general election, include shadow cabinet members Greg Clark and Jeremy Hunt and frontbencher Robert Goodwill. Clark and Hunt were unavailable for comment last night.

Gove is also one of a group of more than 20 Tory MPs and MEPs who are cited as supporters of Hannan’s views in another book, The Plan: Twelve Months to Renew Britain, published in December last year, in which Hannan and Tory MP Douglas Carswell describe the NHS as “the national sickness service”.

Both books call for the NHS to be replaced by a new system of health provision in which people would pay money into personal health accounts, which they could then use to shop around for care from public and private providers. Those who could not afford to save enough would be funded by the state.

Oh, so like Conservative’s idea of Healthcare. Which, by the way, we have an HSA- that, under Obamacare will be eradicated. How could the Democrats, after all, allow the PEOPLE control their own money, when they are so much more elite and should rightfully redistribute everyone’s money… What a laugh!

    Lies, lies and more lies
    By David Hass

President Obama’s lies in Montana were the most egregious falsehoods since Bill Clinton said “I did not have sexual relations with that woman”.

The current President was asked how the government is going to pay for the $1 trillion in new health care expenditures under HR 3200. Watch the video here.

Part of the President’s answer included blaming a previous administration. Oh no, he’s not blaming Bush again, is he?

Well, as it turns out, the previous administration was Bill (“depends on what the meaning of is is”) Clinton’s.

The current President claims that we can save $60 billion per year by “eliminating subsidies to big insurance companies”. Subsidies? What subsidies?

In the Balanced Budget Act of 1997, during Bill Clinton’s term, Medicare was changed to allow Medicare beneficiaries to choose to receive their benefits through competing private insurance plans. In other words, introduce market forces into a socialized medicine system, the opposite of what the President wants to do now. Over the next decade this was changed a few more times until it became known as Medicare Advantage (pdf).

Dr. John Kern explains why he feels Medicare Advantage is better for patients than regular public option Medicare.

Currently, 20 percent of Medicare beneficiaries have chosen Medicare Advantage over the standard Medicare public option program. The government pays for Medicare Advantage insurance coverage by paying private insurance companies for the services they provide to their beneficiaries. This is not a subsidy, it is a reimbursement. Lies, lies and more lies.

The private insurance companies approved for Medicare Advantage operate in a tightly regulated, closely audited environment. If there is waste in the system, one would assume that the Medicare administrators would have already wrung that out of the system. Is the President throwing Medicare administrators under the bus along with the Post Office, the CIA, local police forces and the entire US military?

Is the President proposing eliminating Medicare Advantage? Tell that to the 10 million senior citizens who have chosen this form of coverage over the government option. Is there $60 billion per year of waste in the Medicare Advantage program? Not possible. The pro-Obamacare AFL-CIO reports that total health insurance industry profits in 2006 were $15.39 billion. There is not $60 billion in cost savings to be had by eliminating reimbursements to the insurance companies. Lies, lies and more lies.

The President then said that he will obtain the extra $30 billion in revenue by reducing the tax rate that wealthy people like himself (he seemed to be proud to include himself in this category) can use for deductions and exemptions when preparing their tax returns. Congress rejected that proposal last winter. But, the proposal is a lie because wealthy people pay a larger percentage of their income in federal income taxes. The more they make, the more they pay. The less they make the less they pay.

So, for every reduction in taxable income for someone in the 40 percent tax bracket they will save 40 percent. For every reduction in taxable income for someone in the 10 percent tax bracket they will save 10 percent. The President makes this seem unfair to those paying 10 percent.

Is the President proposing taxing wealthy people more on the money they make and then only let them take a fraction of the deductions that less wealthy people make? If so, does he really think the government will get extra tax revenue this way? It has been shown time and again throughout history that higher tax rates ultimately bring in less revenue. Ask Tim Geithner about that one. Lies, lies and more lies.

The President then went on to excoriate the previous administration (this time it was “Blame Bush”) for passing the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement and Modernization Act in 2003. Is he lying when he blames Bush?

Yes and no. The law was first brought to Congress in 1997 during Bill (you know what goes here) Clinton’s second term. It took 6 years of Congressional debate before it was hammered through in 2003 with bipartisan support.

The President has said time and again “If you like your current insurance plan, you can keep it”. But, he proposes eliminating the Medicare Advantage private option as a way to save money. Lies, lies and more lies.

Oh, right at the end of the video. “I believe in the Constitution too.” The biggest whopper of them all.

The ole dawg slowly climbs aboard. Tired and exhausted, and accosts M2. SamHenry reminds M2 that she is under a strict no comment agreement with herself until she gets deeply into her project. The ole dawg has no authority to arrest the offender but promises M2 a beer at the White House side side walk when she finishes her assignment.

Still working on my project, but I’ve decided to email it to each of you before I make it public, get some input and ideas. After I email it out, we can discuss it in conference.

VF asked me what we could do to make government take the Constitution as serious as the founding fathers did, and I think I have the answer. Be ready for an email today.

  117. samhenry says:

Lisa – an inspirational video. Well, those Americans who do not know the past will not be forced to repeat it. No, they will be forced to go like sheep into a new reality – one with no memory but with the received word of the government. Free thought and free speech will not be appreciated or tolerated because it is outside the accepted and digested doctrine of the usurpers. We are in a dangerous period. It is now the point at which the minds and hearts of the people will be hijacked into the new paradigm. We will no longer find mercy and forgiveness; only rules and punishment for slipping from the approved route of thought. We trust in a nation “under god, ” not under Obama and Raum, the Rasputin of his time.

  118. m2 says:

YOU ARE RIGHT!!! I’m neglecting my job at hand!! AH HA HA HA….

  119. samhenry says:

M2 has warmed the heart of the ole dawg. Mercy and forgiveness still rules the day in the USA. It extends to coffee shop sitters and sippers. Good luck.

  120. Foxwood says:

At the time, I didn’t think he was the greatest President of our time. It wasn’t until I started listening to AM radio that I really got interested in politics. I had a friend that was in Gulf War 1 and I kept up with the news of the war while he was away. The result was I had to listen to a loudmouth named Rush.

20 years later… I am the biggest Ditto Head and believe that Reagan was our greatest President of our time.

Interesting story there Foxwood. My own political awakening came as I watched Reagan on the campaign trail. The difference between him ( the Great Orratator) and Obama was that Reagan told the truth and spoke from his heart. Obama don’t do that. If Obama ever stopped lying he would become a mute.

  136. Hey yall, i think I got one of those emails.

    Dear Friend,

This is probably one of the longest emails I’ve ever sent, but it could be the most important.

Across the country we are seeing vigorous debate about health insurance reform. Unfortunately, some of the old tactics we know so well are back — even the viral emails that fly unchecked and under the radar, spreading all sorts of lies and distortions.

As President Obama said at the town hall in New Hampshire, “where we do disagree, let’s disagree over things that are real, not these wild misrepresentations that bear no resemblance to anything that’s actually been proposed.”

So let’s start a chain email of our own. At the end of my email, you’ll find a lot of information about health insurance reform, distilled into 8 ways reform provides security and stability to those with or without coverage, 8 common myths about reform and 8 reasons we need health insurance reform now.

Right now, someone you know probably has a question about reform that could be answered by what’s below. So what are you waiting for? Forward this email.

    David Axelrod
    Senior Adviser to the President

P.S. We launched this week to knock down the rumors and lies that are floating around the internet. You can find the information below, and much more, there. For example, we’ve just added a video of Nancy-Ann DeParle from our Health Reform Office tackling a viral email head on. Check it out:

8 ways reform provides security and stability to those with or without coverage
    1. Ends Discrimination for Pre-Existing Conditions: Insurance companies will be prohibited from refusing you coverage because of your medical history.
    2. Ends Exorbitant Out-of-Pocket Expenses, Deductibles or Co-Pays: Insurance companies will have to abide by yearly caps on how much they can charge for out-of-pocket expenses.
    3. Ends Cost-Sharing for Preventive Care: Insurance companies must fully cover, without charge, regular checkups and tests that help you prevent illness, such as mammograms or eye and foot exams for diabetics.
    4. Ends Dropping of Coverage for Seriously Ill: Insurance companies will be prohibited from dropping or watering down insurance coverage for those who become seriously ill.
    5. Ends Gender Discrimination: Insurance companies will be prohibited from charging you more because of your gender.
    6. Ends Annual or Lifetime Caps on Coverage: Insurance companies will be prevented from placing annual or lifetime caps on the coverage you receive.
    7. Extends Coverage for Young Adults: Children would continue to be eligible for family coverage through the age of 26.
    8. Guarantees Insurance Renewal: Insurance companies will be required to renew any policy as long as the policyholder pays their premium in full. Insurance companies won’t be allowed to refuse renewal because someone became sick.

8 common myths about health insurance reform
    1. Reform will stop “rationing” – not increase it: It’s a myth that reform will mean a “government takeover” of health care or lead to “rationing.” To the contrary, reform will forbid many forms of rationing that are currently being used by insurance companies.
    2. We can’t afford reform: It’s the status quo we can’t afford. It’s a myth that reform will bust the budget. To the contrary, the President has identified ways to pay for the vast majority of the up-front costs by cutting waste, fraud, and abuse within existing government health programs; ending big subsidies to insurance companies; and increasing efficiency with such steps as coordinating care and streamlining paperwork. In the long term, reform can help bring down costs that will otherwise lead to a fiscal crisis.
    3. Reform would encourage “euthanasia”: It does not. It’s a malicious myth that reform would encourage or even require euthanasia for seniors. For seniors who want to consult with their family and physicians about end-of life decisions, reform will help to cover these voluntary, private consultations for those who want help with these personal and difficult family decisions.
    4. Vets’ health care is safe and sound: It’s a myth that health insurance reform will affect veterans’ access to the care they get now. To the contrary, the President’s budget significantly expands coverage under the VA, extending care to 500,000 more veterans who were previously excluded. The VA Healthcare system will continue to be available for all eligible veterans.
    5. Reform will benefit small business – not burden it: It’s a myth that health insurance reform will hurt small businesses. To the contrary, reform will ease the burdens on small businesses, provide tax credits to help them pay for employee coverage and help level the playing field with big firms who pay much less to cover their employees on average.
    6. Your Medicare is safe, and stronger with reform: It’s myth that Health Insurance Reform would be financed by cutting Medicare benefits. To the contrary, reform will improve the long-term financial health of Medicare, ensure better coordination, eliminate waste and unnecessary subsidies to insurance companies, and help to close the Medicare “doughnut” hole to make prescription drugs more affordable for seniors.
    7. You can keep your own insurance: It’s myth that reform will force you out of your current insurance plan or force you to change doctors. To the contrary, reform will expand your choices, not eliminate them.
    8. No, government will not do anything with your bank account: It is an absurd myth that government will be in charge of your bank accounts. Health insurance reform will simplify administration, making it easier and more convenient for you to pay bills in a method that you choose. Just like paying a phone bill or a utility bill, you can pay by traditional check, or by a direct electronic payment. And forms will be standardized so they will be easier to understand. The choice is up to you – and the same rules of privacy will apply as they do for all other electronic payments that people make.

8 Reasons We Need Health Insurance Reform Now
    1. Coverage Denied to Millions: A recent national survey estimated that 12.6 million non-elderly adults – 36 percent of those who tried to purchase health insurance directly from an insurance company in the individual insurance market – were in fact discriminated against because of a pre-existing condition in the previous three years or dropped from coverage when they became seriously ill. Learn more:
    2. Less Care for More Costs: With each passing year, Americans are paying more for health care coverage. Employer-sponsored health insurance premiums have nearly doubled since 2000, a rate three times faster than wages. In 2008, the average premium for a family plan purchased through an employer was $12,680, nearly the annual earnings of a full-time minimum wage job. Americans pay more than ever for health insurance, but get less coverage. Learn more:
    3. Roadblocks to Care for Women: Women’s reproductive health requires more regular contact with health care providers, including yearly pap smears, mammograms, and obstetric care. Women are also more likely to report fair or poor health than men (9.5% versus 9.0%). While rates of chronic conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure are similar to men, women are twice as likely to suffer from headaches and are more likely to experience joint, back or neck pain. These chronic conditions often require regular and frequent treatment and follow-up care. Learn more:
    4. Hard Times in the Heartland: Throughout rural America, there are nearly 50 million people who face challenges in accessing health care. The past several decades have consistently shown higher rates of poverty, mortality, uninsurance, and limited access to a primary health care provider in rural areas. With the recent economic downturn, there is potential for an increase in many of the health disparities and access concerns that are already elevated in rural communities. Learn more:
    5. Small Businesses Struggle to Provide Health Coverage: Nearly one-third of the uninsured – 13 million people – are employees of firms with less than 100 workers. From 2000 to 2007, the proportion of non-elderly Americans covered by employer-based health insurance fell from 66% to 61%. Much of this decline stems from small business. The percentage of small businesses offering coverage dropped from 68% to 59%, while large firms held stable at 99%. About a third of such workers in firms with fewer than 50 employees obtain insurance through a spouse. Learn more:
    6. The Tragedies are Personal: Half of all personal bankruptcies are at least partly the result of medical expenses. The typical elderly couple may have to save nearly $300,000 to pay for health costs not covered by Medicare alone. Learn more:
    7. Diminishing Access to Care: From 2000 to 2007, the proportion of non-elderly Americans covered by employer-based health insurance fell from 66% to 61%. An estimated 87 million people – one in every three Americans under the age of 65 – were uninsured at some point in 2007 and 2008. More than 80% of the uninsured are in working families. Learn more:
    8. The Trends are Troubling: Without reform, health care costs will continue to skyrocket unabated, putting unbearable strain on families, businesses, and state and federal government budgets. Perhaps the most visible sign of the need for health care reform is the 46 million Americans currently without health insurance – projections suggest that this number will rise to about 72 million in 2040 in the absence of reform. 149. karmahd says:

Don’t know if this has been posted, but it was sent to me today.

Jim Hill’s Letter to Barbara Boxer
Many of us witnessed the arrogance of Barbara Boxer as she
admonished a brigadier general because he addressed her as “ma’am” and not
“Senator” before a Senate hearing. This letter is from a National Guard
aviator and Captain for Alaska Airlines. I wonder what he would have said if
he were really angry. Long fly Alaska !!!!!

    Dear Senator Boxer:
You were so right on when you scolded the general on TV for using
the term, “ma’am,” instead of “Senator”. After all, in the military, “ma’am”
is a term of respect when addressing a female of superior rank or position.
The general was totally wrong. You are not a person of superior rank or
position. You are a member of one of the world’s most corrupt organizations,
the U.S. Senate, equaled only by the U.S. House of Representatives.
Congress is a cesspool of liars, thieves, inside traders, traitors,
drunks (one who killed a staffer, yet is still revered), criminals, and
other low level swine who, as individuals (not all, but many), will do
anything to enhance their lives, fortunes and power, all at the expense of
the People of the United States and its Constitution, in order to be
continually re-elected. Many democrats even want American troops killed by
releasing photographs. How many of you could honestly say, “We pledge our
lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor”? None? One? Two?
Your reaction to the general shows several things. First is your
abysmal ignorance of all things military. Your treatment of the general
shows you to be an elitist of the worst kind. When the general entered the
military (as most of us who served) he wrote the government a blank check,
offering his life to protect your derriere, now safely and comfortably
ensconced in a 20 thousand dollar leather chair, paid for by the general’s
taxes. You repaid him for this by humiliating him in front of millions.
Second is your puerile character, lack of sophistication, and
arrogance which borders on the hubristic. This display of brattish behavior
shows you to be a virago, termagant, harridan, nag, scold or shrew, unfit
for your position, regardless of the support of the unwashed, uneducated
masses who have made California into the laughing stock of the nation.
What I am writing, Senator, are the same thoughts countless millions
of Americans have toward Congress, but who lack the energy, ability or time
to convey them. Under the democrats, some don’t even have the 44 cents to
buy the stamp. Regardless of their thoughts, most realize that politicians
are pretty much the same, and will vote for the one who will bring home the
most bacon, even if they do consider how corrupt that person is. Lord Acton
(1834 – 1902) so aptly charged, “Power tends to corrupt and absolute power
corrupts absolutely.” Unbeknownst to you and your colleagues, “Mr. Power”
has had his way with all of you, and we are all the worse for it.
Finally Senator, I, too, have a title. It is “Right Wing Extremist
Potential Terrorist Threat.” It is not of my choosing, but was given to me
by your Secretary of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano. And you were
    offended by “ma’am”?
    Have a fine day. Cheers!
    Jim Hill

    South Hill, WA 98374

Senior adviser Valerie Jarrett will follow POTUS, her longtime friend, to the Vineyard during the last week in August. Axelrod will head for his lakeside vacation home in Michigan. Emanuel’s aides say he will take some time off, but they were unsure if he would head for Michigan, where he also has a home, or Florida, where he has vacationed, or someplace else.

President Obama Graduates to the Hard Stuff

Posted Aug 16th 2009 2:53PM by TMZ Staff

Barack and Micelle ObamaLike a college student who turns 21, President Barack Obama has moved on from beer to hard liquor.

President Obama and the First Fam visited Macayo’s in Phoenix last night to celebrate the president’s half sister’s birthday. We talked to the restaurant who told us that in addition to having the triple fajitas, Michelle and Barack each had a Tres Margarita — made with Sauza Tres Generaciones Plata Tequila, Presidente Brandy (fitting), and Patron Citronge.

His bill ran around $200 — and he tipped each waitress 20% and an additional $100 each.

You’ll remember, Obama downed a Bud Light when he met with VP Joe Biden, Harvard Professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. and the man who arrested him — Police Sergeant James Crowley.

  172. samhenry says:

It’s late at night and in my cyber wanderings looking for a little humor in the world, I found this column: Joe Biden’s Alternate Universe – just the title can do it for me. Here’s the 2008 article worth a repeat – very funny stuff:

    Joe Biden’s Alternate Universe
    Michael J. Totten – 10.03.2008 – 8:10 AM

In Thursday night’s vice presidential debate between Senator Joe Biden and Governor Sarah Palin, Biden said the strangest and most ill-informed thing I have ever heard about Lebanon in my life. “When we kicked — along with France, we kicked Hezbollah out of Lebanon, I said and Barack said, “Move NATO forces in there. Fill the vacuum, because if you don’t know — if you don’t, Hezbollah will control it.” Now what’s happened? Hezbollah is a legitimate part of the government in the country immediately to the north of Israel.” [Emphasis added.]

What on Earth is he talking about? The United States and France may have kicked Hezbollah out of Lebanon in an alternate universe, but nothing even remotely like that ever happened in this one.

Nobody – nobody – has ever kicked Hezbollah out of Lebanon. Not the United States. Not France. Not Israel. And not the Lebanese. Nobody.

Joe Biden has literally no idea what he’s talking about.

It’s too bad debate moderator Gwen Ifill didn’t catch him and ask a follow up question: When did the United States and France kick Hezbollah out of Lebanon?

The answer? Never. And did Biden and Senator Barack Obama really say NATO troops should be sent into Lebanon? When did they say that? Why would they say that? They certainly didn’t say it because NATO needed to prevent Hezbollah from returning–since Hezbollah never went anywhere.

I tried to chalk this one up as just the latest of Biden’s colorful gaffes. Did he mean to say “we kicked Syria out of Lebanon?” But that wouldn’t make any more sense. First of all, the Lebanese kicked Syria out of Lebanon. Not the United States, and not France. But he clearly meant to say Hezbollah, not Syria, because he correctly notes just a few sentences later that Hezbollah is part of Lebanon’s government. He wasn’t talking about Syria. He was talking about Hezbollah all the way through, at the beginning, in the middle, and at the end of his outlandish assertion.

Like many who watched the debate, I was bracing myself for Palin to say something off-putting about foreign policy. She’s the one who needed the crash course, allegedly; Biden is supposedly Mr. Foreign Policy. He’s supposed to be the experienced elder statesman Senator Barack Obama chose to help him govern and fill in some of his knowledge and experience gaps. He’s supposed to know far more about foreign policy than she does.

I wasn’t exactly encouraged by Palin’s answer to one of Katie Couric’s foreign policy questions: “What happens if the goal of democracy doesn’t produce the desired outcome?” Couric used Hamas’ victory in the West Bank and Gaza as an example. Palin either dodged the question or did not understand it.

Biden, though, against all expectations and odds, managed to say something far more bizarre and off-planet than anything Palin has said on the topic to date.

You know, I am not sure any of us can rest easily tonight. Obama is on Martha’s Vineyard and the Vice-President is, well…has he been locked out of his house? Is he in charg? and when does this happen? Intelligent people want to know so that they can go to the bank and get money before Biden starts a world war with Puerto Rico which is part of the US but he doesn’t know that. Whew, I just remembered that just because Biden is closer to Washington than Kobama, it doesn’t mean he is more in charge than Obama, it just means that the response time of the US to any eventuality will be slowed due to trying to get Joe out of the way first. You see, Joe thinks he is in charge during O’s vacation and he is busily undoing foreign policy (domestic policy being on vacation). And where are Hillary and Bill? You know these are the four questions we all have to ask daily (where’s Barack, Where’s Joe, Where’s Hillary and Where’ Bill) since we have a tennis doubles situation in our national government.

Obama foes turn to ’60s radical for tactical tips
By Edward Luce and Alexandra Ulmer in Washington

Opponents of Barack Obama’s healthcare proposals are using the tactics of Saul Alinksy, the legendary leftwing activist who helped inspire the US president when he was a young community organiser, says Dick Armey, head of Freedom Works, a group fighting against universal healthcare.

Mr Armey, who was the Republican majority leader in the House of Representatives for most of the 1990s, said his group, which is behind many of the “tea party” protests that have disrupted town-hall meetings in the past two weeks, draws consciously on the forms of agitation pioneered by Mr Alinsky.

Obama concedes healthcare insurance measure – Aug-16Clive Crook: Obama took wrong turn on health – Aug-16Tempers fray as middle America finds its voice – Aug-14Obama says insurers holding nation hostage – Aug-15Newly elected Democrats waver on health plan – Aug-13Arena blog: Would you rather be sick in the US or the UK? – Aug-14Mr Obama, who worked as a community organiser among unemployed steel workers on Chicago’s South Side in the late 1980s, was heavily influenced by Mr Alinsky, who inspired a generation of radicals in the 1960s. Mr Alinsky believed that packing public meetings with highly vocal activists would sway their outcomes and give people a taste of the power they could exercise when they showed up in numbers.

“What’s sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander,” said Mr Armey, who was one of the leaders of the “Contract with America” Republican landslide in 1994.

“What I think of Alinsky is that he was very good at what he did but what he did was not good,” Mr Armey said. “We don’t organise people to turn up at these town-hall meetings – we don’t provide buses to get them there. But we tell them about the meetings and we suggest good questions they could ask.”

Mr Armey, whose group works closely with the Tea Party Patriots and other conservative organisations round the country, said he thought the anti-reform protests against Mr Obama’s healthcare proposals exceeded the temperature during the August 1994 congressional recess when the Clinton administration’s healthcare plans were shot to pieces.

On Friday Mr Armey announced his resignation from DLA Piper, the Washington-based lobbying firm that he has advised since stepping down from Congress in 2002. Both DLA Piper, which has big healthcare clients including Bristol Myers Squibb, the pharmaceutical company that opposes elements of Mr Obama’s health reforms, and Mr Armey said he had decided to quit in order to spare the firm any further embarrassment by association with Freedom Works.

“We are sorry to see Dick Armey leave,” said DLA Piper in a statement. “But we appreciate his taking the initiative to clear up confusion concerning Freedom Works, [which is] a separate and distinct entity from DLA Piper.”

Mr Armey, 69, predicted that the “grassroots” backlash against what he called Mr Obama’s “hostile government takeover of a sixth of the US economy” would cause the reform to fail spectacularly. But he predicted that supporters of reform would attempt to win over the “bed-wetters caucus” – a group of wavering lawmakers who spanned both parties, he said – with a fear campaign in the autumn.

“In September or October there will be a hyped up outbreak of the swine flu which they’ll say is as bad as the bubonic plague to scare the bed-wetters to vote for healthcare reform,” said Mr Armey. “That is the only way they can push something on to the American people that the American people don’t want.”

Democrats have portrayed groups such as Freedom Works as demagogues out to disrupt town-hall meetings rather than enter into civil debate. Mr Armey said he doubted members of Freedom Works attended meetings to shout down people with whom they disagreed. “I know people have been doing that but that is not the tactics we recommend,” he said.

    Obama concedes healthcare insurance measure
    By Tom Braithwaite in Washington

US healthcare reform could proceed without a government-run insurance scheme, the Obama administration is ever more frequently acknowledging. It is a position that would win over some conservatives but disappoint many liberals.

Clive Crook: Obama took wrong turn on health – Aug-16Obama foes turn to ’60s radical for tactical tips – Aug-16Tempers fray as middle America finds its voice – Aug-14Obama says insurers holding nation hostage – Aug-15Newly elected Democrats waver on health plan – Aug-13Arena blog: Would you rather be sick in the US or the UK? – Aug-14Kathleen Sebelius, the secretary of health and human services, told CNN on Sunday that the public option, mooted as providing competition to private insurers and forcing down costs, was “not an essential element”.

“I think there will be a competition to private insurers,” she said. “That really is the essential part, that you don’t turn over the whole new marketplace to private insurance companies and trust them to do the right thing.”

Both President Barack Obama and Ms Sebelius stressed that there needed to be a mechanism to compete with private insurers, which could usher in a rival co-operative scheme if a public plan were abandoned.

Kent Conrad, a Democratic member of the Senate finance committee, has championed the co-op, which would see small businesses and individuals banding together to bargain for better deals with insurers.

Richard Shelby, a Republican senator and critic of the reform effort, said it would be “a step in the right direction”.

“I think the Democratic administration – President Obama and his cabinet – have read the tea leaves of America right now,” he told Fox News.

The administration has sought to recapture the initiative on healthcare and calm the atmosphere around a debate that has become marked by angry protests against reform.

Writing in the New York Times on Sunday, Mr Obama emphasised to Americans happy with their healthcare that reform would bring more protection and lower costs, which would affect them as well as the 46m uninsured.

“If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor,” he wrote. “If you like your healthcare plan, you can keep your healthcare plan. You will not be waiting in any lines. This is not about putting the government in charge of your health insurance.”

Mr Obama said on Saturday in Grand Junction, Colorado, that the public option was “not the entirety” of reform, even though it remained his preferred means of pushing down insurance costs.

“I believe that we should [have it], on balance,” he said. “It’s not perfect. It’s not going to solve every problem, but I think it . . . would keep the insurance companies more honest.”

Striking a more emotional tone than before during his meeting, Mr Obama recalled the death of his grandmother last year and hit out at the suggestion of some Republicans that he wanted to introduce government-run “death panels”.

“I know what it’s like to watch somebody you love, who’s ageing, deteriorate, and have to struggle with that,” he said. “So the notion that somehow I ran for public office or members of Congress are in this so that they can go around pulling the plug on grandma? I mean, when you start making arguments like that, that’s simply dishonest.”

Canada’s wonderful health care system is going broke.

Overhauling health-care system tops agenda at annual meeting of Canada’s doctors
By Jennifer Graham (CP) – 1 day ago

SASKATOON — The incoming president of the Canadian Medical Association says this country’s health-care system is sick and doctors need to develop a plan to cure it.

Dr. Anne Doig says patients are getting less than optimal care and she adds that physicians from across the country – who will gather in Saskatoon on Sunday for their annual meeting – recognize that changes must be made.

“We all agree that the system is imploding, we all agree that things are more precarious than perhaps Canadians realize,” Doing said in an interview with The Canadian Press.

“We know that there must be change,” she said. “We’re all running flat out, we’re all just trying to stay ahead of the immediate day-to-day demands.”

The pitch for change at the conference is to start with a presentation from Dr. Robert Ouellet, the current president of the CMA, who has said there’s a critical need to make Canada’s health-care system patient-centred. He will present details from his fact-finding trip to Europe in January, where he met with health groups in England, Denmark, Belgium, Netherlands and France.

His thoughts on the issue are already clear. Ouellet has been saying since his return that “a health-care revolution has passed us by,” that it’s possible to make wait lists disappear while maintaining universal coverage and “that competition should be welcomed, not feared.”

In other words, Ouellet believes there could be a role for private health-care delivery within the public system.

He has also said the Canadian system could be restructured to focus on patients if hospitals and other health-care institutions received funding based on the patients they treat, instead of an annual, lump-sum budget. This “activity-based funding” would be an incentive to provide more efficient care, he has said.

Doig says she doesn’t know what a proposed “blueprint” toward patient-centred care might look like when the meeting wraps up Wednesday. She’d like to emerge with clear directions about where the association should focus efforts to direct change over the next few years. She also wants to see short-term, medium-term and long-term goals laid out.

“A short-term achievable goal would be to accelerate the process of getting electronic medical records into physicians’ offices,” she said. “That’s one I think ought to be a priority and ought to be achievable.”

A long-term goal would be getting health systems “talking to each other,” so information can be quickly shared to help patients.

Doig, who has had a full-time family practice in Saskatoon for 30 years, acknowledges that when physicians have talked about changing the health-care system in the past, they’ve been accused of wanting an American-style structure. She insists that’s not the case.

“It’s not about choosing between an American system or a Canadian system,” said Doig. “The whole thing is about looking at what other people do.”

“That’s called looking at the evidence, looking at how care is delivered and how care is paid for all around us (and) then saying ‘Well, OK, that’s good information. How do we make all of that work in the Canadian context? What do the Canadian people want?’ ”

Doig says there are some “very good things” about Canada’s health-care system, but she points out that many people have stories about times when things didn’t go well for them or their family.

“(Canadians) have to understand that the system that we have right now – if it keeps on going without change – is not sustainable,” said Doig.

“They have to look at the evidence that’s being presented and will be presented at (the meeting) and realize what Canada’s doctors are trying to tell you, that you can get better care than what you’re getting and we all have to participate in the discussion around how do we do that and of course how do we pay for it.”
