ObamaCare - A new twist on Death Taxation

Folks? Be ready to witness an all out Socialist War against the GOP whom they have decided blocked the RAMROD passage of the 1018 page ObamaCare Bill before the August Recess of Congress.

What the Socialists can’t admit to themselves is… it is being rejected by the Majority of Americans who do not want to die waiting for treatment and declared a burden on the government because of their age.

Opposition to ObamaCare?
A primal human instinct
to SURVIVE

Soo… with that framing in mind, let’s watch a production of a Socialist Talk Radio program where Cenk Uygur, an out of the closet Socialist, explains the coming war by the Socialists as a counter-strike against the Intelligence of American Voters! Notice in his typical self-promoting style, Cenk Uygur is trying to take credit for the idea.

DUHHH!!! Earth to Uygur…

Obamacare called ‘euthanasia bill’
Critic: ‘Reflects regime worse than China’s one-child policy’

President Obama

The Democrats’ proposed national health insurance plan would dictate medications, treatments and mental health services; determine coverages individuals are allowed to have; and operate with real-time access to personal bank accounts, according to a new analysis.

And it’s worse, a critic said, than China’s mandatory one-child policy.

“In the same way that the bill pushes elderly or the sick toward euthanasia, it is a pill that would cause economic suicide,” said Mathew Staver, founder of Liberty Counsel. “It’s a euthanasia bill for America.”

Congress members have admitted they have not read the more-than-1,000-page bill, and Staver’s organization is one of the first to go through it and offer an analysis.

In the Liberty Counsel analysis, Staver notes that under Section 163, the government would be allowed to have real-time access to individuals’ finances, including direct access to bank accounts for electronic funds transfers.

Under Section 1308, the analysis finds, the government will dictate marriage and family therapy as well as mental health services, including the definitions of those treatments.

Will the elites control life itself? ‘The Emerging Brave New World’ documents the battle against the sanctity of life ethic

Under Section 1401, a Center for Comparative Effectiveness Research would be set up, creating a bureaucracy through which federal employees could determine whether any treatment is “comparatively effective” for any individual based on the cost, likely success and probably the years left in life.

It also, according to Staver, “covers abortions, transsexual surgeries, encourages counseling as to how many children you should have, whether you should increase the interval between children.”

The plan would allow, in Section 1401, for the collection of information about individuals’ health records, both “published and unpublished,” and recommend policies for public access to data.

“It reflects a repressive regime worse than China’s one-child policy,” Staver told WND. “It’s going down the road for a government that manages the most intimate matters of your life regarding health and safety.”

Further, the plan is created to be the “only game in town,” he said. And as people age or get sicker, it includes mandatory “consultations” offering suggestions on how to end life sooner, he said.

The Liberty Counsel staff that did the research was “astonished” by what they found.

J. Matt Barber, director of cultural affairs for Liberty Counsel, said in a commentary the bill reflects he influence of those who now surround President Obama.

“His choice of Harvard professor and self-styled ‘neo-Malthusain’ John Holdren as ‘science czar’ provides the latest and perhaps most trouble example of just how bad American really muffed it last November,” Barber wrote.

“In the name of population control, Holdren has advocated both forced abortion and compulsory sterilization through government-administered tainting of the water supply. In a book he co-authored, entitled ‘Ecoscience: Population, Resources, Environment,’ Holdren calls for a ‘Planetary Regime’ to enforce mandatory abortions and limit the use of natural resources,” he wrote.

Staver pointed to some of Holdren’s outrageous suggestions, such as implanting sterility capsules in girls at puberty and extracting them only when they obtain government permission to have children. For men, he has suggested putting additives in the water system to cause sterility.

Barber wrote that Holdren has affirmed he believes there is “ample authority” under the U.S. Constitution for population growth to be “regulated.”

“Even … laws requiring compulsory abortion … could be sustained under the existing Constitution,” Holdren suggested.

Nina May, founder of Renaissance Women, added to the arguments. She cited a 1948 Hitchcock movie about murder in which the victim’s body is hidden in plain sight.

“The health care bill that Obama proposes has this theme at its core and has in its crosshairs the Baby Boomer engine that is pulling the derailed economy as it takes its final lap toward retirement. In less than two years, Baby Boomers will begin retiring in multitudes, expecting to reclaim the hard earned money they have been paying into Social Security. But this Health Care Bill, HR3200, has other plans for them,” she wrote.

“Those 65 and older will be required to undergo mandatory ‘end of life’ counseling to determine if they are worthy to continue to not only live, but take much needed resources from those who are younger and more worthy to receive them. Counselors will be trained to discuss how to end life sooner, how to decline nutrition and hydration, how to go into hospice, etc.,” she said.

“This will not be done without coercion. For those who have amassed assets enough to take care of themselves in their old age will have these assets confiscated in the name of fiscal responsibility, because by this time, every citizen will be entered into a national database under the guise of improved efficiency. This database will be run by a type of ‘star chamber,’ appointed by the president, that will determine whether or not you deserve the much needed operation your personal doctor thinks you need,” she said.

The Liberty Counsel analysis also pointed out the government would be allowed to ration health care procedures, prevent “judicial review” of its decision, tell doctors what income they can have, impose new taxes for anyone not having an “acceptable” coverage, regulate whether seniors can have wheelchairs, penalize hospitals or doctors whose patients require “readmission,” prevent the expansion of hospitals and set up procedures for home visits by health care analysts.

Under Section 440, Liberty Counsel said, the government “will design and implement Home Visitation Program for families with young kids and families that expect children.” And Section 194 provides for a program that has the government “coming into your house and teaching/telling you how to parent,” LC said.

WND reported earlier when Betsy McCaughey, the former New York state officer, told former presidential candidate Fred Thompson during an interview on his radio program the health care plan includes consultations for seniors on how to die.

“One of the most shocking things is page 425, where the Congress would make it mandatory absolutely that every five years people in Medicare have a required counseling session,” she said. “They will tell [them] how to end their life sooner.”

The proposal specifically calls for the consultation to recommend “palliative care and hospice” for seniors in their mandatory counseling sessions. Palliative care and hospice generally focus only on pain relief until death.

The measure requires “an explanation by the practitioner of the continuum of end-of-life services and supports available.”

    President Obama

The proposed Obamacare national health insurance plan would dictate medications, treatments and mental health services, choose for you the coverages you are allowed to have and operate with real-time access to individuals’ bank accounts, according to a new analysis of the hundreds of pages of plans.

Members of Congress have admitted that they have not read the more-than-1,000-page plan, and Staver’s organization is one of the first to go through it and offer an analysis of what it would accomplish.

It also, according to Staver, “covers abortions, transsexual surgeries, encourages counseling as to how many children you should have, whether you should increase the interval between children.”

The plan would allow, in Section 1401, for the collection of information about individuals’ health records, both “published and unpublished,” and will recommend policies to allow for public access to data.

“It reflects a repressive regime worse than China’s one-child policy,” Staver told WND. “It’s going down the road for a government that manages the most intimate matters of your life regarding health and safety.”

Further, the plan is created to be the “only game in town,” he said. And as people age or get sicker, it includes mandatory “consultations” to end your life, he said.

The Liberty Counsel staff that did the research was concerned about some of the issues, and dug into the details of the proposal.

“What they found astonished us,” the organization said.

In a commentary written by J. Matt Barber, who also serves as director of cultural affairs for Liberty Counsel, he said the result shows the influence of those who now surround President Obama.

“His choice of Harvard professor and self-styled ‘neo-Malthusain’ John Holdren as ’science czar’ provides the latest and perhaps most trouble example of just how bad American really muffed it last November,” he wrote.

Staver noted the dangers of such influences, such as Holdren’s suggestion to implant sterility capsules in girls at puberty, extracting them only when they obtain government permission to have children. For men, the discussion has centered around additives to water to cause sterility.

Barber wrote that Holdren has affirmed he believes there is “ample authority” under the U.S. Constitution for population growth to be “regulated.”

“Even … laws requiring compulsory abortion … could be sustained under the existing Constitution,” Holdren suggested.

    Recession Worse Than Prior Estimates,

    By Bob Willis

July 31 (Bloomberg) — The first 12 months of the U.S. recession saw the economy shrink more than twice as much as previously estimated, reflecting even bigger declines in consumer spending and housing, revised figures showed.

The world’s largest economy contracted 1.9 percent from the fourth quarter of 2007 to the last three months of 2008, compared with the 0.8 percent drop previously on the books, the Commerce Department said today in Washington.

“The current downturn beginning in 2008 is more pronounced,” Steven Landefeld, director of the Commerce Department’s Bureau of Economic Analysis, said in a press briefing this week. The revisions were in line with past experience in which initial figures tended to underestimate the severity of contractions during their early stages, he said.

The updated statistics also showed that Americans earned more over the last 10 years and socked away a larger share of that cash in savings. The report signals the process of repairing tattered balance sheets following the biggest drop in household wealth on record may be further along than anticipated.

    Spending Slumps

Consumer spending, which accounts for 70 percent of the economy, decreased 1.8 percent in last year’s fourth quarter from the same period in 2007, exceeding the prior estimate of a 1.5 percent drop. Purchases also began sinking sooner than previously projected, registering their first decline at the start of 2008 rather than in the second half.

Treasuries headed higher after the report, while stock- index futures declined. Benchmark 10-year note yields were at 3.58 percent at 8:51 a.m. in New York, from 3.61 percent late yesterday. Contracts on the Standard & Poor’s 500 Stock Index were down 0.3 percent at 979.

Residential construction fell 21 percent during the period, almost 2 percentage points more than previously reported, aggravating what was already the worst slump since the Great Depression.

The Commerce Department also reported today that the economy contracted at a 1 percent annual rate from April through June after shrinking at a 6.4 percent pace in the first quarter, the most since 1982. The decline in the first three months of the year was previously reported as 5.5 percent.

    Recession’s Start

The National Bureau of Economic Research, the accepted arbiter of U.S. business cycles, last year determined the recession started in December 2007. The private group is based in Cambridge, Massachusetts,

Today’s updates are part of comprehensive revisions that take place about every five years and are more extensive than the changes announced at this time each year. Figures as far back as 1929 can be revised.

Over the most recent period, the third quarter of 2008 underwent one of the biggest changes, going from a 0.5 percent decrease in gross domestic product to a 2.7 percent drop. The new reading better illustrates the effect the September collapse of Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. had on the economy and credit markets.

The deeper deterioration last year underscores why Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke and his colleagues at the central bank cut the benchmark rate to a record low and extended credit to non-banks for the first time since the 1930s.

The new GDP data also help explain why the unemployment rate shot up 2.3 percentage points last year, the biggest annual jump since 1982.

    2001 Recession Milder

The revisions showed that the 2001 recession was less severe than originally estimated, reflecting a smaller decline in business investment. The economy actually grew 0.1 percent from the fourth quarter of 2000 to the third quarter of 2001, erasing the 0.2 percent drop previously reported.

Personal income was revised up over the last decade, after the government boosted its adjustments for the underreporting and non-reporting of income using more recent data from the Internal Revenue Service. The increases in the most recent years reflect gains from rents, interest and proprietors’ income. The government changed the way it accounts for natural disasters, such as Hurricane Katrina, eliminating much of the prior volatility in income calculations.

    More Savings

Higher incomes and less spending translated into bigger savings. The savings rate for 2008 was revised up to 2.7 percent from 1.8 percent. The rate shot up to 5.2 percent in the second quarter, the highest level since 1998.

The government revised corporate profits down for 2006-2008 and up for 2004 and 2005.

Finally, Commerce shifted food services, which include meals purchased at restaurants or served in schools, out of the food category. As a result, the Fed’s preferred inflation gauge — which tracks consumer spending and excludes food and fuel — was pushed up by 0.2 percentage point for the three-year period from 2006 to 2008.

The costs of meals away from home are not as volatile as fresh food, the government said, and therefore services should be included in the measure commonly known as the core index.

Now here’s an interesting story. I believe the democrats and Obama are going to be sorry they opened up this can of healthcare worms.

Police called on retirees at senator’s LA office

(07-30) 20:28 PDT Los Angeles, CA (AP) —

Police were called on a group of retirees who refused to leave Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s West Los Angeles office until she talked to them about health care reform.

Los Angeles police Sergeant Rich Brunson said Thursday that police lured the group of seven outside somehow, then locked the building’s doors behind them.

Brunson had said earlier that eight people were being taken into custody, but corrected himself after getting new details from officers on the scene.

A spokeswoman for the 55- to 87-year-old activists said they arrived at Feinstein’s office around noon and remained in her conference room more than six hours.

Feinstein spokesman Gil Duran says staff offered the retirees an in-person meeting with the senator during a Los Angeles visit next week but that they demanded to speak with her immediately.

I have to tell you a funny Alzheimer’s story here. My mother crossed over a line in her illness where they were looking at her as near death and more out of it than usual. They sent in an Episcopal minister to talk with her. I thought that might be a comfort. NOT. The next time I went in to see her she said: There is this minister who keeps coming in here talking about dying – it just gets me depressed. So there you have it folks. We ended the depressing little chats.

A nurse once told me about a pt she had had that was an auto mechanic. With Alzheimer’s pts often take off their clothes. One day she went into this gentleman’s room only to find him el starko under his bed. She calmly inquired: “Mr. Smith, what are you doing under the bed”? He replied in an annoyed tone: “Can’t you see I’m working on this car.” Who knew.

  32. SamHenry says:

    Morning Rose

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) — Two Republican leaders in the House of Representatives are confirming reports that the health care restructuring bill the House is currently considering promotes euthanasia. A leading patients rights advocate is worried about the effects of the legislation.

Betsy McCaughey, the former New York lieutenant government who is now a patient’s rights advocate, notes that the government-run health care plan would require “end of life” counseling for seniors.

The counseling, she says, would be focused on telling seniors how to end their lives sooner.

In a statement sent to LifeNews.com House Republican Leader John Boehner Republican Policy Committee Chairman Thaddeus McCotter confirm those fears.

“Section 1233 of the House-drafted legislation encourages health care providers to provide their Medicare patients with counseling on ‘the use of artificially administered nutrition and hydration’ and other end of life treatments,'” the pair say.

    http://www.lifenews.com/bio2896.html

And from CBS News July 29th

(CNSNews.com) – The House health-care reform bill proposes to decrease hospital visits by establishing a “medical home pilot program” for elderly and disabled Americans.

Such a medical home would not require a physician to be on the staff, and therefore could be run solely by nurse practitioners and physician assistants. Medical homes also would practice “evidence-based” medicine, which advocates only the use of medical treatments that are supported by effectiveness research.

But physicians’ groups say the legislation could lead to restrictions on which treatments may be used for certain conditions, despite the fact that some patients might require a unique or unconventional approach. It also may lead to dumping Medicare/Medicaid patients in facilities that are not required to have physicians on staff.

Rose – I will try to dig out the language of the bil litself.

    BORN IN THE USA?
Will Hawaii destroy Obama’s birth certificate?
Investigator cites procedural changes that could allow it

The state of Hawaii has made a series of procedural changes that would allow officials to destroy President Obama’s original long-form birth certificate, concealing its contents forever.

The warning comes in a report by an investigator commissioned by a retired CIA officer.

The report was posted online by the Western Center for Journalism, which withheld the name of the officer.

“We know from a document posted on June 10, 2009, on the Department of Hawaiian Homelands website that, up until very recently, either the original paper Certificates of Live Birth and/or scanned images of those paper certificates were maintained by the Dept of Health, and copies of them were provided to confirm claims of Hawaiian ancestry,” said a newly posted update to the report.

“But if in June 2009 the Department of Hawaiian Homelands has decided that it will no longer require the original Certificate of Live Birth as proof for special privileges and the Department of Health spokesman says firmly that they will no longer provide copies of these original certificates, is it possible that, in the midst of the controversy over where Barack Obama was born, the Hawaiian state govt has destroyed the original paper certificate of live birth?” continued the investigator’s report.

“This seems almost incredible to me, but the authorities have been so deceptive and evasive on this issue, that it cannot be dismissed as impossible,” the report concluded.

Want to turn up the pressure to learn the facts? Get your signs and postcards asking for the president’s birth certificate documentation here.

Even such a draconian move probably would not finish questions about Obama’s origins, however, since WND has reported that among other documentation not yet available for Obama is his kindergarten records, Punahou school records, Occidental College records, Columbia University records, Columbia thesis, Harvard Law School records, Harvard Law Review articles, scholarly articles from the University of Chicago, passport, medical records, files from his years as an Illinois state senator, Illinois State Bar Association records, any baptism records and his adoption records.

WND reported earlier on the fact that while the Hawaii Health Department says it currently only issues a “Certification of Live Birth,” the state’s Department of Hawaiian Home Lands required an original “Certificate of Live Birth” to qualify for its programs.

Tell Obama you don’t buy his state-run media coverup!

“This is a more complete record of your birth than the Certification of Live Birth,” said the Homelands website. “Submitting the original Certificate of Live Birth will save you time and money since the computer-generated Certification requires additional verification by DHHL.”

However, at the height of questions over the various documents, the state’s DHHL suddenly changed its website reference to allow for the “Certification of Live Birth” as a formal authentication document.

It was only weeks earlier when WND pointed out that the document Barack Obama has released as proof of a Hawaiian birth was not accepted by the Hawaiian Home Lands program, presumably because it was not a reliable test of an actual Hawaiian birth.

The investigator commissioned by the CIA officer said the change followed a statement from the state, through spokeswoman Janice Okuba, that the state did not release copies of original birth certificates any longer.

“Ms. Okubo’s statement gave the false impression that Obama could not gain access to or release ‘the original Certificate of Live Birth,’ and that it was the DOH’s policy rather than his own reluctance that was responsible for the holding back of this Certificate,” the investigator said

“This was an obvious deception. The document at the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands website indicates that at the time she made this statement it was false, and that a procedure was in place for application for ‘the original Certificate of Live Birth,’” the report said.

“Only the information on the original birth certificate, ‘the original Certificate of Live Birth,’ can demonstrate to the people of the United States whether there is convincing evidence that he was actually born here or whether a relative or two (or possibly even Barack Obama himself) just made a statement to that effect to a low level bureaucrat,” the report said.

The action sometime between June 10 and 18 upgraded “the apparent status of the abbreviated Certification of Live Birth which it had formerly regarded as insufficiently probative. Why?” said the report.

WND reported earlier that the document Obama posted on his campaign website and distributed to select news organizations as proof he was a “natural born citizen” would not be accepted as a “birth certificate” even for some Hawaiian state government eligibility issues.

WND also previously reported certifications of live birth were widely issued to Hawaiians born in foreign countries in 1961, the year Obama was born. No federal or state official has ever explained why a document issued for foreign births could possibly be used to establish eligibility as a “natural born citizen.”

Okubo also has said the state began issuing only “Certifications of Live Birth” in 2001 when the health department went paperless. It is only available in electronic form, she said.

Hawaii’s director of health, Dr. Chiyome Fukino, also this week issued a second statement that she has seen the “original birth records” that verify Obama was born in Hawaii and is a “natural-born American citizen.”

But in two separate telephone interviews with WND, Okubo, the health department’s public information officer, told WND that Hawaii law prohibited her from commenting on the birth records of any specific person.

WND also reported the Hawaii Department of Heath said no paper birth certificate records were destroyed when the department moved to electronic record-keeping in 2001.

That statement from Okubo contradicted CNN U.S. President Jon Klein, who ordered host Lou Dobbs to quit discussing Obama’s birth certificate on the air. Klein insisted the issue was “dead” because Obama’s original long-form birth certificate had been destroyed by the Hawaii DOH in the conversion to electronic files.

Poll of Polls: President’s approval ratings slip

From CNN Deputy Political Director Paul Steinhauser

A CNN Poll of Polls out Thursday indicates that 54 percent of Americans approve of President Obama.
WASHINGTON (CNN) — It’s late July, a time for hot and humid weather in the nation’s capital. But when it comes to President Barack Obama’s approval rating, an average of the most recent national surveys indicates a cooling trend.

According to a new CNN Poll of Polls, 54 percent of Americans approve of how Obama is handling his duties in the White House. That’s down 7 points from late June, when the president’s approval rating stood at 61 percent. The latest approval rating is the lowest for Obama in his young presidency. The CNN Poll of Polls, compiled and released Thursday, is an average of seven national surveys conducted over the past nine days.

It appears a drop in Obama’s numbers on health care and the economy, the two issues that have dominated his domestic agenda since he took office in January, are contributing to the deterioration of his overall approval rating.

A CNN Poll of Polls of the five surveys that specifically asked about how Obama’s handing the economy indicates that 48 percent approve and 45 percent disapprove

  83. tellitlikeitis says:

Grave Diggers? They are the shvel ready jobs Obama is talking about. The US will need plenty of grave diggers if Obamacare gets passed because there wouldn’t be enough backhoe’s to keep up with the demand.

  84. rosehips says:

sami, this is a very serious issue. Do you know why health insurance premiums have soared so high? Why are so many Americans now priced out of the market? It is easy for those of us who have insurance to say that we should leave the system alone. Who among us who isn’t insured because of the costs feels the same? I doubt you will find many uninsured who agree with your views. Health care costs will rise more and more if we continue the current system.

We’d all like to cling to what has worked for us in the past. But the past is history. The future is grim. Get used to it.

  85. samiam60 says:

I won’t get used to it Rose. I will fight it and unlike you my children will never say to me: Gee Dad its getting to expensive to keep you around, sorry, but ya got to get put down today.

  87. rosehips says:

I don’t think graves are a wise use of the land either. I think we need to promote cremation. Maybe it should be mandatory. Then we can dig up all the graves currently taking up so much of our land and dispose of the corpses properly. I think community gardens should replace cemetaries. But don’t worry, I am not opposed to building nice monuments to acknowledge the deceased. We can even engrave granny’s name on it. heehee

  91. rosehips says:

sami, don’t feel bad for my dad. He is not afraid to die. He has been ready to die for years.

In 1986 my dad was given 3 years to live cuz his liver was abused by years of drinking. A few years later he got melanoma and was given a 30% chance of survival. He got treatment, but the melanoma returned. He survived the second round as well. He is now 82. He had a stroke in 07. He will not be around much longer. I believe he has wanted to die for many years. His quality of life is diminishing. His care has taken an incredible toll on my mom, who is a healthy and vibrant 80 year old. I am afraid that these last days of my dad’s life will kill my mom. She is worried sick that my dad will need to go into a home and deplete the last of their money. I swear if I could, I’d slip my dad a pill to avoid the decision that will probably destroy my mom.

  92. Foxwood says:

End of life decisions should be in the hands of the individual and his/her family. Did you see my post on how well end of life counseling worked for my mother. This is a horrific bill and the ATTITUDE toward the elderly can lead to further erosion in their status in the minds of citizens trapped by high costs. I have extended care insurance. That can be revised and cost lowered. We do not have to throw the baby out with the bath water.

Life sucks for a lot of people. Death can be liberating. I want to have the option to end my life if I want to. I voted for the right to die and in Wash state it is now law. I am thankful that I have the choice.

W.H. makes CEOs pay for lunch

Four of the most powerful business leaders in America arrived at the White House one day last month for lunch with President Barack Obama, sitting down in his private dining room just steps from the Oval Office.

But even for powerful CEOs, there’s no such thing as a free lunch: White House staffers collected credit card numbers for each executive and carefully billed them for the cost of the meal with the president.

The White House defended the unusual move as a way to avoid conflicts of interest. But the Bush administration didn’t charge presidential guests for meals, one former official said, and at least one etiquette expert found the whole thing unseemly – suggesting it was a serious breach of protocol.

“I’m sure they have their political reasons for doing that, but I think it’s not what quote, hospitality, unquote is all about,” said Letitia Baldrige, who headed Jacqueline Kennedy’s White House staff in the early 1960s. “We’ve got to relax about this. To have people to the White House and worry about the price of things is laughable.”

“I don’t know what the menu was, but I’m sure it wasn’t braised pheasant,” she said.

The White House did not say what was served for lunch or how much the attendees were charged. A spokeswoman said White House staff collected the credit card numbers separately from the event.

Around the table with Barack Obama that afternoon were Ursula Burns, CEO of Xerox Corporation; Muhtar Kent, CEO of The Coca-Cola Company; AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson; and Honeywell International CEO Dave Cote.

“From time to time, White House guests are asked to reimburse for their meals, the reasons include ensuring there is no conflict or appearance of a conflict,” said White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki. “That is consistent with our tough ethics rules and we will continue the practice when appropriate.”

The former senior Bush administration official said meals with the president were covered by official entertainment expenses that fall under the Executive Residence budget or the White House’s annual account. But the Bush administration was so sensitive about appearing cozy with corporate America that another former high-ranking official cannot recall a single instance of President Bush lunching with CEOs in the White House.

For Obama, the politics of dining with CEOs is much different: In the midst of the greatest economic collapse since the Great Depression, most Americans would likely approve of the president sitting down with the leading figures of the private sector to develop strategies to fight the recession.

Still, the decision to bill the CEOs for their meal shows the political sensitivity of relations between the commander in chief and corporate chieftains. The lunch meeting did not show up on Obama’s public schedule and was largely overlooked by the press.

The low-visibility session was part of an ongoing and concerted White House effort to maintain constant contact with the nation’s top business leaders. The corporate outreach effort, spearheaded by Obama senior adviser Valerie Jarrett, gives the president the opportunity to hear private first-hand accounts from the executives who are fighting their way through the global economic recession.

“This is something that happens on an ongoing basis,” Jarrett told POLITICO. “A lot of CEOs have now had the opportunity to sit around the table with the president.” Jarrett said some meetings include a meal, some are held in the Roosevelt room, and others are held outside the White House, at restaurants across Washington, DC. The offsite dinners include Jarrett and White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel but are not attended by the president.

Folks need to remember, NOTHING IN LIFE IS FREE

  176. Foxwood says:

The problem, Arlene, is the school system. Keep the kids dumbed down, so they expect the government to give it to them “free”. It’s been going on for 50 years. I know what I was taught in school. It’s only gotten worse since my day.

  177. arlenearmy says:

I guess what’s coming down is that if a woman is on welfare & the government does the delivery of his baby, then Uncle Sam owns that baby. Government pay for the housing (projects) & food (food stamps) to feel that woman & those babies, then Uncle Sam OWNS them.

No need to lock the doors of that welfare housing. Cause Uncle Sam owns that house/apartment & can walk in anytime. No calling ahead of time for an appointment. Will they take the kids out the home to do what ever?

when you can have a baby is in the DeathCare bill. I haven’t found the page yet, but someone told me it’s around the 900 pages.

You know Sami, once when I was a child, I was walking to school, and decided to stop at the ice cream shop. I was eating that chocolate covered cone as I was walking to school when I heard the school bell ring, and I knew I was late. So I put the ice cream cone in my pocket and ran as fast as I could to class.

I got to home room and the teacher told me, “Foxwood, your late. To keep from getting a paddling, you have to answer 3 questions”.

“The first question; What are people from China called?”

I thought about it, but the girl behind me whispered, “Chinese”. So I said, “Chinese”.

The teacher said, “Correct, now what are people from India called?”

I though some more, but the girl behind me whispered, “Indians”. So I said, “Indians”.

The teacher said, “Correct. Now Foxwood, what are people from Europe called?”

I though some more, but the girl behind me whispered, “European”. So I said, “No I’m not. That’s ice cream running down my leg!”

  199. LisaInTX says:

Dr. McKalip, the President of the Florida Neurosurgical Society, has summed up the liberal Democrats’ plan very clearly:

The Majority in Congress and the President are promising to change the “status quo” by pushing a government-run-medicine plan (HR 3200). The plan would create rationing through government committees, FORCE all Americans to buy over-priced, politically created health insurance, create an economically unsustainable government-run insurance plan, and impose economy-crushing taxes. In fact, the President would break yet another promise by imposing a 2.5% income tax on each person who refused to buy government improved insurance. Further, after 2013 people would be FORCED to stay in their current plan for LIFE or buy only a government-approved plan since no further enrollment will be allowed in non-approved insurance. Insurance companies would profit endlessly from the free business of the mandate. As medical care demands increased and artificially high profit margins became unacceptably low (for them) they would join the bailout game. In other words, there would be absolutely no change to the status quo — just an expansion of more people into the currently bad system with the added feature of state-sanctioned rationing of medical care.

More than 88 million Americans could LOSE their private, employer-based coverage, according to a new analysis of “The American Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009” released this week by The Heritage Foundation.

While Obama, Pelosi and Reid insist that “if you like your health insurance coverage, you’ll get to keep it,” it’s now very clear: once again, THEY’RE LYING.

If the public plan is implemented as detailed in this bill, people with private insurance will be moved on a public plan, regardless of what they want, because their employers will make that decision because of the financial incentives in the bill.

That’s not all: Yearly premiums for Americans with private coverage could jump as much as $460 per person as a result of more cost-shifting, which would stem from the public plan. Even doctors stand to lose thousands of dollars of income under the legislation. Annual physician net income is estimated to drop by 6.3 percent or $13.4 billion (coming in at an average $18,900 per physician) when compared with current trends.

Throughout the last presidential campaign, Barack Obama repeatedly promised the American people: “If you’re a family that’s making $250,000 a year or less you will see no increase in your taxes. Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your personal gains tax, not any of your taxes.”

He lied. Just 15 days into office, President Obama signed a bill expanding the children’s health insurance program that was paid for with a 156% tax hike on tobacco. Since slightly more than half of today’s smokers (53%) earn less than $36,000 per year, Obama’s first effort at expanding government’s role in health care also became his first broken promise.

But that first Medicaid expansion was NOTHING compared to the estimated $1.3 trillion health care plan Congress is considering now. And how is Obama planning to pay for it? Tax hikes — including employer health care mandates, which are really just a TAX on low-income workers, since employers will have to lower pay and cut jobs because of the tax penalties on them.

Is THIS “change we can believe in”??? NO — and that means WE have to take action NOW!

  200. LisaInTX says:

Obama and the liberal Democrats in Congress are trying to insist that their plans for the government to take over health care in America isn’t “socialized medicine” — but the fact is, socialized medicine exists to the extent that government controls medical resources and socializes the costs. And that’s exactly what “Obamacare” will do!

Everyone, even leftists, admit that Obama’s plan for “public option” health insurance is simply a giant step towards “single payer” health insurance — which is short-hand for a health care system, like Canada’s, where the government pays all the bills. As far back as 2003, Obama stated very plainly, “I happen to be a proponent of a single-payer, universal health care plan.”

Universal coverage is impossible without coercion; that’s why the leading Democratic proposals would FORCE Americans to obtain health insurance, either on their own or through an employer. And what if you don’t WANT to get the level of coverage that government officials mandate? You pay a fine. And what if you DON’T pay the fine? You go to jail.

There’s absolutely ZERO evidence that anything beyond a basic health plan actually improves health outcomes, yet the individual and employer mandates that Obama and his cronies are trying to pass gradually make coverage less affordable by outlawing the leaner, less expensive plans. And you can be sure of this: if Congress enacts these mandates, we can say goodbye to health savings accounts as we know them.

And on top of all of this… the fact remains that we can’t AFFORD this plan! In the face of an estimated $1.85 trillion federal budget deficit for FY2009 and projected trillion dollar annual deficits for the foreseeable future, how can anyone in Congress vote for this health care plan, which will cost at least $1 trillion over the next ten years? Plus, Congress is facing at least $53 trillion of unfunded liabilities due to its passage of the previous entitlement programs, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and the recent addition of prescription drug coverage for Medicare. How can anyone in Congress vote for a new entitlement program for health care when Congress has not even begun to face up to this unfunded liabilities problem?

Well, they’re trying to — but WE can stop them, with YOUR help!

We CANNOT let the radical liberals in Congress — and the White House — force this plan for socialized health care on the American people! That’s why we’ve set up our website to enable you to send a strong message to every single member of Congress, in both Houses, OPPOSING this outrageous plan.

  236. arlenearmy says:

    Thanks everybody:)

I still have difficulties w/connection of HD on this camera. For a while I lost sound on my computer when I hooked up HD. Oh well, maybe I’ll get a dvi/hd converter.

  237. Foxwood says:

When albums came out, I would only buy one if it had at least 3 hits on it. Every Picture Tells a Story had 4 hits and a total of 7 recognizable songs. It has been one of my all time favorite albums.

  238. Foxwood says:

    Hey Arlene,

Just relaxing as the weekend is here. Don’t know how much of a Rod Steward fan you are.

  239. samhenry says:

Hi night people. I just read this:

SAN DIEGO, California (CNN) – Republican National Committee Co-Chairman Jan Larimer criticized President Obama Friday for his White House meeting with a professor and a police officer, saying the president needs to focus on more important issues.

To the above I say – if he had not stepped in to fix what he did when he first stepped in then we would have a red hot summer of race riots. He just never knows when to close his mouth.

  240. Foxwood says:

    Where’d that card go?

  241. Foxwood says:

Hey SamH, I just wonder what happened to Mary Ann and Ginger.

  242. samhenry says:

Enjoyed the Rod Stewart, FOX. See you and Arlene tomorrow when my tail will be able to wag – I’m that tired from another day of living with socialism fears!

  243. Foxwood says:

    Fairies wear boots
    you got to believe me

  244. samhenry says:

As I was logging off – up came the statler brothers – I really liked that song. It is a little kicky and lifts the spirits.

Fox – I am drawing a blank = Marianne and Ginger – songs?

Im not too familiar w/Rod Stewart, but I sure do love Marvin Gaye’s music.

Mercy Mercy Me is a good one. Like the lyrics say: “Things aint what they used to ” is what we all are going to be saying pretty soon.

  253. samhenry says:

FOX – I am still not getting the thing – the Professor and Ginger and whomever? I’m getting old you know. Can i have a few more dots?

  254. samhenry says:

    Arlene

You need to rent this movie if you have not already. It’s old but funny. Rent just the first movie in the series.

  255. samhenry says:

  259. samhenry says:

I wish all kids in the future could have known the USA of my past – not perfect but doable.

That video you left herein about the Gods. Is that for real? That’s not enough water to live off of. Seriously! Its hard to hunt for food (sweating & exerting energy) & not drink enough water.

And to listen to Marvin Gaye makes me think of the heritage that is a mere memory. In a way, those were the good old days. Families were in tact. The old family home was full of people (cousins, siblings, aunts & uncles). That was the time when the black culture meant something positive because it was forward thinking & moving up.

Now the old family home is left abandoned. Families scattered to the 4 winds (cost of integration), but the dreds were left behind dying.

Like Marvin Gaye said: “What’s going On”.

  264. samiam60 says:

Good Morning to all my favorite American “Hero’s”

    Happy August! Everyone!

  267. samhenry says:

Morning FOX, Arlene, SAMI and the GREATEST of all CATS

Here is my first memory of Saturday Morning Programming. Winky Dink. You had to put a special plastic sheet over the TV and use a special crayon to help Winky Dink. He would get caught up a tree and you had to draw a ladder for him to get down, etc.

  268. VotingFemale says:

    Good Morning SamH!

    lol @ winky dink!

    hahahahaha

  269. samhenry says:

One last one – before Sesame Street there was….

THIS IS IMPORTANT: FLETCHER RABBIT AND OLLIE HAVE AN ETHNIC SLUR MOMENT. NOW HERE IS HOW THESE THINGS SHOULD BE HANDLED:

  272. samhenry says:

VF I believe that you should save the one for the next racial incident post – and one will happen.

  273. samhenry says:

The genius of Burr Tillstrom, the puppeteer, was that he cast the characters against type – i.e. you could not tell a book by its cover:

Beulah witch – a kind person – just like a neighbor and a kind of forerunner of Joan Rivers – can we talk.

Mme. Oglepuss – also kind – not class warefare here.

    And on and on.

  274. samhenry says:

The above is another reason we were taught well in my generation – as FOX says – these things changed.

Then later there was HR. Puff ‘n Stuff with Witchi Poo. Here she is will Martha Raye and Cass Eliot

  275. karmahd says:

Morning I am at work just wanted to say good mornimg

  276. samhenry says:

FORGODSSAKE, VF, do’n’ forget the smooch for Karm.

  280. samhenry says:

    I’m doggone tired bbl.

  281. vigilocanis says:

I have attempted to avail myself of the information on healthcare that is out there.

Tired from reading last night, I fell into a deep sleep. During the night, I was awakened with this vision of the future.

The president is wearing a white smock with a stethocope around his neck.

In the chair in his office, is an older African-American woman, who, is obviously nervously waiting for the ensuing coversation. I could only hear one side of the conversation, the president’s.

“Thank you for coming to my office at the White House for your mandatory 5 year schedule consultationwith me to talk about your end-of- life choices provided by your Obamacare health care policy.

As you know, I’m not your regular doctor, in fact, I’m not technically a doctor however: I do have my Doctorate of Juris Prudence, but they say that doesn’t really count, because they are behaving stupidly.

As a way of introduction, as you are aware, medical resources are in very high demand these days and therefore must be delivered to receipients through a very structured allocation process.

Notice that I am calibrating my words carefully, because I want to make myself clear.

As you must realize at your age of…..let’s see what your records say, h-m-m-m-m, 84, that according to government computers, makes your life expectancy is only one year.

So with that in mind, we have calculated that we cannot fund your requested procedure, which according to our calculations would run $16,899. That figure is derived by adding the cost of 332 stitches using the finest cat gut string, rabies shots, impounding the dog, antibiotics-you know how expensive those things are, and various doctor and nurse charges, et ceterer, et ceterer….all when added together exceed your individual worth according to the EWL, or the Economic Worth of your Life.

    Now, please don’t cry.

You wouldn’t want us to take medical treatment away from younger person, with a higher viability of life quotient, would you? I mean that wouldn’t be fair, would it, nor would it be according to our policy. It comes from our Blue Ribbon Medical Committee, made up of a cross section of the community including members of Acorn, the United Auto Workers, the Teacher Union, and other nonpartisan groups

    Do you have any questions………..Mom?

I know, I know, you’re right. Michele and the girls will be mad, because, yes, you do live with us in the White House and it was our dog that bit you multiple times, but knowing what a patriotic American you are, you wouldn’t have it any other way. Right?

I want to be clear on this.

Mom, we can make this work. Yes, we can. Now say it with me, Yes we can!

    Good!

Now, I really wish you wouldn’t start that again. Crying too much can agravate your eye condition, and you already know that there’s a 3 month wait to get that taken care of.

Can someone please get me a towel?”

  282. m2 says:

great ‘analogy’ story for our future, vigil…
