Obama Hogzilla Stimulus Bill failed; Congress is scared; Senate hits brakes on Cap and Trade; Obama Distracted and Losing Traction

She is a Conservative

She is a Conservative; He is a "Dave Letterman"

While Obama is distracted in Europe seeing the ‘sights’ and pontificating before members of the G-8 about Global Warming, Senator Barbara Boxer (D-Calif), who chairs the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, said her committee is just too busy grappling with the Obama Universal Health Care Bill to attend to the Obama Cap & Trade Bill.

So, the Cap & Trade Bill has been parked at the Senate curb until September.

car cover

Ohhh… Obama is not going to like that!

Additionally… a group of fiscally conservative House Democrats just put the brakes on the Obama Health Care Bill. The Blue Dog Coalition sent a letter late Thursday night saying the bill “lacks a number of elements essential to preserving what works and fixing what is broken.”

Obama failed at the G-8 meeting to get China and India to stop thumbing their noses at Obama’s maniacal instance that CO2 is falling from the sky.

There is not going to be any global CO2 reduction.
And you know what?
The Globe is cooling, not warming.

SOOO… Al Gore’s characterizations now include both India and China as NAZIs who Oppose Obama.

Gee… Perhaps Obama will appoint Al Gore as The Obama Senate Czar to go run the Senate. After all… Obama now runs everything else, right?

Hey Big Al, the Socialist Kiddies Pal? Many Senate Democrats are opposed to Cap & Trade and that alone is a  guarantee that the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee run by Barbara Boxer will find it difficult, if not impossible, to  write an Energy Tax Bill that will not get them fired by their state’s electorate.

Obama’s Poll numbers are sagging… and it will be interesting to see what Obama does when he returns from Europe to pump his poll numbers. Perhaps Obama will take a Viagra and go on Dave ‘The Perv’ Letterman’s Show and they can both tell dirty jokes about little girls and their Moms.

Just ridiculous what a foolish circus the Democrats make of themselves, even as they try to appear to be “smart” and “managerial”…

I believe Levi – Palin Pain in the A…. has just come out and said that the Gov resigned for financial reasons. I can’t help but think that powers beyond those poor Levi can identify are using him.

excellent vf! Did you see the latest news about el nino? It looks like we are in for a wet summer. It has already begun. They say this will keep the hurricanes at bay. That is good news. It will also supply the South with needed precipitation. I don’t think it looks good for California.

I am encouraged by any evidence that the globe is actually cooling. I hope it’s not just a temporary spike. I fear it is. And I think scientists are still agreeing that the oceans are rising and will continue to do so.

poor Levi. I guess I can’t blame him for exploiting his celebrity. It beats pounding nails for the rest of his life. I don’t know if he will make it as an actor unless he hires a really good coach.
People will do what they can to make money. I am studying the Miranda case for my class and did you know that Miranda got off after confessing to rape because he wasn’t warned of his right to remain silent? According to wiki, he made a modest living signing “miranda cards” that cops used to make sure they got all the “rights” correctr. So cops were willing to pay a rapist for his signature. bizarre.
About 4 years after Miranda was released after the Supreme Court decision, he was stabbed to death in a bar fight.

Beware of the swine flu vaccine peeps. I have been getting some disturbing info about it.

BETHESDA, Md. — The Obama administration warned Americans on Thursday to be ready for an aggressive return of the swine flu virus in the fall, announcing plans to begin vaccinations in October and offering states and hospitals money to help them prepare.

  16. rosehips says:

I realize that about the NYT vf. I saw the link in a bulletin I get. It’s being reported on from several sources.
    from the LA Times:
    WASHINGTON, D.C.

H1N1 vaccination plans in the works

U.S. swine flu vaccinations could begin in October with children among the first in line, the Obama administration said as the president and his Cabinet urged states to figure out now how they’ll tackle the virus’ all-but-certain resurgence in the fall.

No final decision has been made on whether to vaccinate Americans, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius emphasized. That depends largely on studies with experimental batches set to start in early August.

If all goes well, the federal government will buy vaccine from manufacturers and share it at no cost among the states. First in line probably will be school-age children, young adults with risky conditions such as asthma, pregnant women and health workers.

  44. rosehips says:

New York, July 10 (ANI): Italian luxury goods manufacturer VBH has admitted that it had mistaken the clutch bag toted by U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama earlier this week while on a trip to Russia for its 5,950-dollar alligator manila bag.

VBH representative Kelly Vitko retracted the claim following the White House’s counter-claim that the First Lady was carrying an 875-dollar VBH patent leather clutch.

‘If that’s what the White House is saying, then it’s a patent bag,’ the New York Daily News quoted Kelly as admitting.

She earlier appeared certain about the clutch being the nearly 6,000-dollar version.

“It’s definitely ours (manila bag),” she had said.

However, she now says that she made an assumption and misidentified the bag. (ANI)

I just found out that samhenry is left-handed. I know that lisa was born a lefty but then switched. M2 is a lefty too.

    anyone else lefty in here?

There was an interesting study done in the early 80’s on the high incidence of auto immune diseases, learning disabilities, asthma and other disorders among lefties. They attribute it to the the effects of testosterone on fetal brain development. I find it quite interesting and am curious about more recent studies.

here’s from the socialist NY Times article:

A series of new studies show that left-handed people are more likely to suffer from learning disabilities, stuttering, migraine headaches and, according to the latest findings, autoimmune diseases, like ulcerative colitis, myasthenia gravis and celiac disease, in which the body attacks its own tissues.

World Has Avoided Economic Disaster, Obama Says

    I say. Really?

Lasting worldwide recovery “is still a ways off,” President Barack Obama declared Friday, but he also said at the conclusion of a global summit that a disastrous economic collapse apparently has been averted.

    AP
    Barack Obama
    ——————————————————————————–

Obama said world leaders had taken significant measures to address economic, environmental and global security issues.

“Reckless actions by a few have fueled a recession that spans the globe,” Obama said of the meltdown that began in the United States with a tumble in housing prices and drastic slowing of business lending. The downturn now threatens superpowers and emerging nations alike.

Obama urged national leaders to unite behind a global recovery plan that includes stricter financial regulation and sustained stimulus spending.

“The only way forward is through shared and persistent effort to combat threats to our peace, our peace, our prosperity and our common humanity wherever they may exist. None of this will be easy,” Obama told a news conference at the end of the Group of Eight summit of major economic powers.

The president rejected suggestions that the summit fell short of expectations by failing to call for tough new sanctions on Iran for its crackdown on democracy advocates after its disputed presidential election.

“What we wanted is exactly what we got — a statement of unity and strong condemnation,” Obama said. He said the leaders’ declaration was even more significant because it included Russia, “which doesn’t make statements like that lightly.”

Obama said world leaders will reevaluate their posture toward Iran at a meeting in Pittsburgh in September of the world’s 20 major industrial and developing economies.

He cited “the appalling events of Iran’s presidential election” and said the world would “take stock of Iran’s progress” and watch its behavior.

Leaders have made clear that for Iran to take its “rightful place” in the world, the country must adhere to international standards and behave responsibility, Obama said.

    I can only hope.

Chadwick: Recession and Scandals Pave the Way for Romney 2012

With Governor Sanford in political Siberia and Governor Palin perhaps following him, Governor Mitt Romney should be smiling. Lots of things are going his way.

With the benefit of hindsight, had Candidate McCain chosen the Governor of Massachusetts and not the governor of Alaska as his running mate, the outcome of the election might have been different, but who knew in July of 2008 that in only three months, so much economic havoc would be wreaked.

With the Federal Government increasingly grabbing oversight of giant sectors of the economic pie—banking, insurance, automobiles, health care, and energy—it will only be a matter of time before it also starts to micromanage those sectors. The free spirit that has for the last few hundred years been the source of growth and prosperity that is the envy of the world, and has provided the incentive to millions around the world to come to our shores in an effort to better themselves and their descendants is being revamped in a way that has never before been seen.

The money being thrown at the economy is not the worst part of it—in fact, given the state of financial chaos last fall, there was indeed good reason for the Federal Government to act as lender of last resort. But it has gone farther than any crisis would have legitimized, by truly taking over the reins of corporate management. The problem is that Government is a not-for-profit organization, and an economy that is run on a not-for-profit basis will be a failure.

Track the Crisis from the Beginning with CNBC’s Special: Boom, Bust and Blame
But in a Government managed economy, there are no profits to use for reinvestment. So the Government must resort to taxes as its resource. So, while on the one hand the Government today is pouring money into stimulating the economy with both needed and unneeded projects, it now must look to raise taxes for the new sectors of the economy (health care and energy) that it seeks to control.

Well, of one thing I am certain—fiscal drag will offset monetary stimulus, and the result will be a torpid economy—with high unemployment and anemic growth. Hopefully, the Senate will be able to muscle enough change in the pending legislation to marginalize the economic drain, but I am not optimistic about that.

By the spring of next year, the political focus will be on the House and Senate races that will say a lot about how people really feel about the economy. And following on the heels of the November outcomes will be the start of the 2012 Presidential race.

If the economy is still in limbo, Mitt Romney will have the opportunity of a lifetime. He understands economics; he knows how industry and business should work to thrive; he has had both private and public experience; he even studied and signed into law a health care system. For sure he will be able to talk to its strengths and weaknesses, what it can do and what it cannot do.

In all the political kerfuffle unfolding today, Mitt Romney has gravitas—no sexual scandals, a few grey hairs, a total lack of demagoguery, confidence but not arrogance, an ability to lead successfully and an understanding of the sanctity of the private sector in this country. Those attributes should stand him in good stead when the 2012 Presidential campaign starts to unfold in barely more than a year from now.

  84. VotingFemale says:

In my well considered opinion… Mitt Romney is a Dumbass.

  85. VotingFemale says:

And if Mitt Romney is on the ticket say hello to Term Two of Obama.

Burris is about to make a big announcement and word is it will be that he will not be running for election. I think he should run away now. Now on air.

  87. SamHenry says:

I agree, VF that Romney would kill a ticket. Can’t remember his numbers when he ran but they were not outstanding. I trust John McCain’s judgment in not selecting him.

  88. SamHenry says:

It’s the same old song. Burris does not have money to run; does not want to take time away from being a good representative to do fund raising. Methinks he would not be opposed to a draft.

  89. VotingFemale says:

SamH, Burris is tainted goods… and if he ran it would also prove he is stupid tainted goods…

  90. SamHenry says:

Agreed VF that Burris is tainted goods. He has been from the start.

I do think there should be some election spending reform but we can’t even deal with all the other reforms Obama wants. I can’t believe that Obama even mentioned reforming the UN. The man is maniacal and crazed. Obama has not real principles underpinning his so called reforms and he does not have them prioritized. This week he swears it is health care then cap. It occurs to me as I ramble that after the last trip abroad, that he really needed to take the family for support but more importantly advice. Think of it, he has been out of the country over two weeks of the little over 6 months he has been in office.

Sound not on right not for this computer so will listen to all vids later. The one you just put up must be amazing.

  92. tellitlikeitis says:

hmmmmm., VF doesn’t like Mitt Romney. I guess the GOP is fresh out of viable candidates for 2012. Maybe it’s time to take a second look at Ron Paul.

  93. SamHenry says:

    Hi, Tellit

Maybe there will be a candidate we haven’t even thought of yet. That’s the good thing about tomorrow – we don’t have a heck of a lot of control over it and that can be a salvation.

  94. rosehips says:

L’AQUILA, Italy – The chasm between rich and poor on how to address climate change burst into the open at the G-8 summit Thursday, showing how difficult it will be to persuade the world to make lifestyle and economic sacrifices needed to save the planet from global warming.

President Barack Obama urged emerging economies to do more to curb global warming, while the U.N. chief demanded developed countries set an example and take more concrete steps to reduce pollution.

Especially reluctant to commit to change were two budding powers that are just now getting comfortable economically: India and China.

Obama said industrialized countries, the United States included, had a “historic responsibility” to take the lead in emissions reduction efforts because they have a larger carbon footprint than developing nations.

“And I know that in the past, the United States has sometimes fallen short of meeting our responsibilities. So, let me be clear: Those days are over,” he said.

  95. SamHenry says:

Sadly, I have to hit the road in the batty lady mobile and take my little dog (not the big one) to the vet to get itchy stitchies out. I will be back later.

I have spent the better part of an afternoon looking for software that will adequately convert a PDF to a word file. It is so frustrating. I have a job application I can’t easily complete because of it. I wish we had a tech president.

    Dog overboard…

  96. SamHenry says:

PS – Rose – how dumb of us to buy too much into curbing pollution if the dominant countries are not bothering. God will excuse us for delaying the day until China and India get the message. They have the attitude that they are going to make up for what we wasted and China has expressed this. You can’t fight city hall. We will go down the financial tubes if we tax our people for environmental concerns, health care and the debt in general to the detriment of most citizens. Our goal should be starting new industries that make things rather than consuming them. Rose you can bring on all kinds of environmental concerns and I will agree with them but beyond recycling, reducing travel, making buildings energy efficient – and getting better gas mileage – there is not much more we can do that is cost effective and we have to think of the cost factor. That is the cold hard reality.

  97. tellitlikeitis says:

The whole save the planet thing global warming thing is a ruse. It’s just feel good liberal legislation that will kill jobs, close businesses, lower the standard of living for most folks and allow the corrupt congress to stick us with a massive tax increase. The rest of the world knows it’s a farce and are laughing at us.

  98. SamHenry says:

Right on Tellit – really have to go.

  99. rosehips says:

sh, good luck at the vet.

I understand what you are saying but there are hidden costs to some of the worst offenders such as coal burning power plants. Coal ash disposal and the health consequences of exposure to coal ash and coal plant emissions should be factored into any new construction. And emissions controls and better disposal of the ash are essential in protecting our citizenry as well as the environment. I would rather we not burn coal at all. Nuclear power is a dangerous and expensive option. Hydroplants endanger fish, wind generators kill birds.

I think that we should all be required to power our houses with bicycle generators. I think you can produce enough electricity in an hour to power a light bulb and maybe catch part of Glen Beck. I don’t know if you can see the entire hour. You may have to miss his “stupid pet tricks.” lol

sh said: there is not much more we can do that is cost effective and we have to think of the cost factor. That is the cold hard reality

  100. rosehips says:

I think the rest of the developed world has made more commitments to reducing carbon gases than the U.S. has. I am afraid I disagree tellit. They are not laughing. They are pissed as hell that we continue to call for reductions but are not willing to put our money where our mouth is.

  101. rosehips says:

and I will never be convinced that any of our legislators actually are intentionally trying to kill our economy for some sick agenda that they devised after read Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals.”
Thank reasoning is about as logical as putting an American back on the moon to reinstill pride in our country. geesh.

  102. rosehips says:

But I hear you sh about the need to manufacture our own goods without relying on China, and although that will increase costs to consumers, it will make us more independent. I just don’t think we can disregard measures to minimize the impact to the environmental and to our health.

  103. rosehips says:

and with that I must leave me again. I will miss me but I must go buckle myself down and finish my work at hand. I vow to return after I get at least a good first draft to my discussion. I hope I will be back before the day is through.

    take care of each other.

  104. VotingFemale says:

    bye me…

(just dropped in to see what was going on)

  105. tellitlikeitis says:

Rosehips, Washington is like Hollywood. Those people don’t live in reality because they don’t have to. I am sure they don’t believe they will kill the economy but that is exactly what will happen. They surround themselves with their so called experts that BS them with rosie sceneros based in fiction.

  106. VotingFemale says:

Rose, Tell That to Professors Cloward and Piven.

You think they wrote the Cloward/Piven Strategy for use as wall paper?

You think the GOP faked the creation of the Cloward/Piven Strategy?

You think Marxists would not destroy the economy of the nation that resists military destruction?

IF you were going to bring a country to it’s knees in order to toss it’s Constitution and create a new Social Order and Government without firing a shot how would you do it?

Your trust of Politicians is dangerous…

America too big to be defeated by instigating Economic Collapse?

You are free to choose to ignore… but there are people who see “The End Justifies the Means” as justification.

    bye Rosehips, bye VF.

  108. karmahd says:

As you know I am in the mortgage industry, believe it or not there are still loans being made, and I have been noticing a trend. I reviewing what people do for a living I am astounded at what government workers are making!!!! What does this matter? Well when I look at equal pay for the same work in the public sector, I see the wages much lower.

Conclusion: Government is the place to be if you wish to have a career, they pay the best, they have unions so to speak, the health care is above and beyond most, and you cannot appear to get fired!! And you know what, we all pay for this, so the next time someone wants to let government take over anything do a search on Amtrak, The VA system, the Post Office, all models in inefficiency and socialized.

The current path of the freedom grabbers is to increase government and to give our wages to the individuals who either don’t or cannot work for whatever reason, that my bloogwood friends is not the high road, it is a nation of beggars. I am for CHANGE, get rid of Obama as soon as possible, we cannot afford his change…

  109. VotingFemale says:

Tellit, I think it is too soon to try to pick a candidate for 2012, dear.

I am certainly not going to pick one at this time.
There has to be a lot of water over the damn before it is time to pick a candidate.

And picking one now is exactly what the Socialists want the GOP and people to do.

We already know who the Socialist Candidate will be, all things being equal.

  110. VotingFemale says:

SamH, I do not believe there is a PDF to Word converter.

PDF is a bit map and contains no formatting information.

I suggest you select/copy/paste from a PDF into Word and format it yourself.

Why are we politizing our covert operations for political gain!!! This is just plan stupid and shows how far gone the Democratic party is. They are pissed because during the bush years they did not have to pander to the socialistic bleeding heart morons, now it is political payback, they are cutting off there noses in spite of there face. Just plain transparent and very dangerous to our nation. Cut it the hell out you idiots!!!
