ABC Gets Whipping By Michelle Malkan re: ABC’s Barack Informercial to Sell Out Free Market Health Care to put the Government in charge

Michelle Malkin calls it like it is… This ABC Barack Infomercial to sell Government Health Care is a one sided sell out of Americans in favor of the Socialists who want to own them and their money.

Ohhhh My… Poor Poor Barack… It is not enough that he has virtually 90% of the US Media on their knees before him… he pouts that FOX News dares address issues in a more balanced way… and are not on their knees to The Enchanted One.

You mean someone is not afraid to call Obama on his Socialism?

gee…

For the up coming day of ABC Obama Propaganda to work do as Obama intends, viewers must first believe is not Propaganda.

For ABC to turn their network over to the purpose of  operating as a  Obama Propaganda Machine and yet at the same time deny that that is what they are doing is hilarious.

Only a mud flap would not see a problem… but then a lot of mud flaps voted for Obama. lol

In truth, only people who know the difference between propaganda and fair and objective reporting will understand what is going on. And to be sure, the Socialists are betting on the mud flaps being in the majority.

I have a higher opinion of the Majority of American People than does Obama & Co (which includes ABC).

It’s pretty pathetic. There is almost no news source you can depend on. Fox was giving it’s OK to healthcare this morning. I was about to blow chunks. I have never seen Fox do that before. I guess O finally got to them.

Outraged By Obama Legal Brief, Gay Democratic Donors Boycotting DNC Bash

Last week, President Obama’s Justice Department filed a legal brief against same sex marriage in which it compared gay unions to incestuous ones and that of an underage girl – in the sense that states have the right to not recognize marriages that are legal in other states or countries.

The timing of the brief, which the president of the leading gay and lesbian rights organization said caused his community “pain,” is awkward, given that next Thursday, June 25, the Democratic National Committee is hitting up the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community for cash in a fundraiser featuring Vice President Biden.

As John Aravosis at AmericaBlog reports, gay donors, outraged at the legal brief, are withdrawing their support from the event.

The treasurer of the DNC, Andrew Tobias, finds himself distancing himself from the brief, as Ben Smith of Politico reports.

“If this debacle of a brief represented the president’s views, I’d boycott too,” Tobias said in an e-mail. But Tobias insisted that he “personally totally believe(s) in the president.”

David Mixner, a former adviser to President Clinton, is not so sold, writing that the brief is a “sickening document” that “could have been written by the Rev. Pat Robertson. Using the worst of stereotypes, it intimates that we don’t have constitutional guarantees, invokes scenarios of incest, of children and advocates that we don’t have the same rights as others who have struggled for civil rights.”

Mixner says many scholars don’t think the Obama administration needed to defend the Defense of Marriage Act, which states that states don’t have to accept same sex marriages from other states. Some disagree. But “to a person, they say that the response is way out of line, totally unnecessary and goes far beyond anything required. They all agree that if the Department of Justice felt they had to respond, a simple, few-paged brief on the very limited issue before the Federal Court would have been all that was necessary.”

The brief, Mixner argues, “undercuts every conceivable argument that the LGBT community would use to fight for the repeal of DOMA. Right-wing nut cases can now just simply quote horrible stuff from this hateful brief and proclaim loudly it was filed by the Obama Justice Department.”

For that reason, Mixner withdrew his support from the DNC fundraiser.

As did big Democratic gay donors Andy Towle and Alan Van Capelle, executive director of the Empire State Pride Agenda and Foundation.

Aravosis is mad, criticizing “this rather ill-timed and inappropriate Democratic effort to milk money from our community at the same time Democrats are equating us with incest and not lifting a finger on any of our legislation priorities in Congress or the White House. It’s not awfully clear why any gay person would give a Democrat a dime ever again.”

    from the NYT

A Bad Call on Gay Rights
    Published June 15, 2009

The Obama administration, which came to office promising to protect gay rights but so far has not done much, actually struck a blow for the other side last week. It submitted a disturbing brief in support of the Defense of Marriage Act, which is the law that protects the right of states to not recognize same-sex marriages and denies same-sex married couples federal benefits. The administration needs a new direction on gay rights.

A gay couple married under California law is challenging the act in federal court. In its brief, the Justice Department argues that the couple lack legal standing to do so. It goes on to contend that even if they have standing, the case should be dismissed on the merits.

The brief insists it is reasonable for states to favor heterosexual marriages because they are the “traditional and universally recognized form of marriage.” In arguing that other states do not have to recognize same-sex marriages under the Constitution’s “full faith and credit” clause, the Justice Department cites decades-old cases ruling that states do not have to recognize marriages between cousins or an uncle and a niece.

These are comparisons that understandably rankle many gay people. In a letter to President Obama on Monday, Joe Solmonese, president of the Human Rights Campaign, a gay rights organization, said, “I cannot overstate the pain that we feel as human beings and as families when we read an argument, presented in federal court, implying that our own marriages have no more constitutional standing than incestuous ones.”

The brief also maintains that the Defense of Marriage Act represents a “cautious policy of federal neutrality” — an odd assertion since the law clearly discriminates against gay couples. Under the act, same-sex married couples who pay their taxes are ineligible for the sort of federal benefits — such as Social Security survivors’ payments and joint tax returns — that heterosexual married couples receive.

In the presidential campaign, President Obama declared that he would work to overturn the Defense of Marriage Act. Now, the administration appears to be defending it out of a sense of obligation to support a validly enacted Congressional law. There is a strong presumption that the Justice Department will defend federal laws, but it is not an inviolable rule.

If the administration does feel compelled to defend the act, it should do so in a less hurtful way. It could have crafted its legal arguments in general terms, as a simple description of where it believes the law now stands. There was no need to resort to specious arguments and inflammatory language to impugn same-sex marriage as an institution.

The best approach of all would have been to make clear, even as it defends the law in court, that it is fighting for gay rights. It should work to repeal “don’t ask, don’t tell,” the law that bans gay men and lesbians in the military from being open about their sexuality. It should push hard for a federal law banning employment discrimination. It should also work to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act in Congress.

The administration has had its hands full with the financial crisis, health care, Guantánamo Bay and other pressing matters. In times like these, issues like repealing the marriage act can seem like a distraction — or a political liability. But busy calendars and political expediency are no excuse for making one group of Americans wait any longer for equal rights.

    http://features.csmonitor.com/politics/2009/06/18/olive-garden-disputes-report-that-ads-were-pulled-from-letterman/

A spokesman for the Olive Garden disputed a report from Politico that the restaurant chain pulled its advertising from the David Letterman show due to jokes about Sarah Palin’s daughter.

“Information reported today by Andy Barr of Politico regarding Olive Garden’s advertising on the Late Show with David Letterman was erroneous. No authorized spokesperson for the company confirmed the information in his report,” said Olive Garden spokesman Rich Jeffers in an email to The Vote.

“The Olive Garden media schedule is planned months in advance. The schedule for the Late Show with David Letterman was completed earlier this month. We take all guest concerns seriously. And, as always, we will factor those concerns in as we plan our advertising schedule in the future,” he continued.

Jeffers has not yet responded to an email asking if Olive Garden advertisements will continue on the David Letterman show.

Only if advertisers abandon the network will CBS rethink its commitment to airing the Late Show with David Letterman. Reason: remember when Michael Phelps was caught with his marijuana bong? Kellogg’s cereal dropped him like a hot potato because its brand image is child-focused for most of its products. Speedo won’t ever drop Phelps, no matter what he does, but we doubt he’ll ever have his face on a McDonald’s happy meal again either.

No candy company will want to be associate with raping 14 year-olds.

No restaurant chain like Olive Garden will want to be consistently Googled with statutory rape.

Kelloggs won’t want to be involved in another messy advertising relationship after Phelps.

A concerted effort against family-friendly advertisers of Letterman will work, but it will require persistence.

“M&Ms: the candy for people who think rape is super funn!”
