Imagine turning on the television to your favorite talk show, and watching the host crack jokes about President Obama’s daughters being raped and impregnated at a baseball game during the seventh-inning stretch.
Can you even begin to fathom the legitimate outrage that President Obama and his family would feel, or how the liberals would prepare for the inevitable war against the host and conservatives in general?
This week, David Letterman made several crude and heartless jokes regarding Governor Sarah Palin and her daughter on the Late Show with David Letterman. He described Gov. Palin’s style as that of a “slutty flight attendant,” and he even had the gall to attack her daughter viciously, saying that it must have been an “awkward moment for Sarah Palin at the Yankee game,” when “her daughter was knocked up by Alex Rodriguez.” The outrage from the left has yet to be heard.
Regardless of your political stripe, I think we can all agree that this has definitely crossed the line. Letterman’s jokes were at best, insensitive, and at the very core, they show the true hatefulness of his attitude towards women. His comments were highly offensive to Palin’s daughter, and to anyone who has ever dealt with the pain and trauma that come as a result of being a victim of rape. Rape is not “joke” material, as it involves a selfish man who has a warped view of women, and therefore has no qualms about abusing and objectifying women’s bodies to meet his own disgusting “needs.” This attack is not only against Sarah Palin and her family, but also against women’s dignity as a whole. As a woman, I am deeply disturbed by Mr. Letterman’s misogyny. How far have we reverted, that we allow a so-called “comedian” to make rape into something that will get him a few laughs at someone else’s expense, on national television, no less?
It is one thing to disagree with Palin’s politics, and another thing entirely to make vulgar jokes about her family when thousands of people are watching. Letterman apologized, but only for the joke about Palin’s daughter, and not the one about Sarah Palin’s style being that of a “slutty flight attendant.” However, Wendy Wright, President of Concerned Women for America, says that the apology is not enough. “It’s worse than poor taste; it reflects ugliness in him. He would never say something like that about a liberal woman. But rather than deal with issues and ideas, he denigrates her as a human being. The “apology” is not enough. He needs to change his attitude and prove his attitude has changed. He needs to show Sarah Palin the respect and dignity that she deserves.”
Dr. Janice Shaw Crouse, Director and Senior Fellow of CWA’s Beverly LaHaye Institute said, “David Letterman only apologized after he found out the daughter he ridiculed was Governor Palin’s 14-year-old daughter who attended the baseball game, not her 18-year-old daughter. Evidently, in Mr. Letterman’s world it is okay to make jokes about sexual violence against someone’s daughter, as long as the child is over 18. All women and parents should be outraged at this callous attitude towards rape.”

sorry vf, wasn’t implying that you condoned rush’s crass statements. When Rush said that, the blog revolution hadn’t started and I was out of touch with mainstream so I don’t remember the backlash he got. and I’m not justifying what letterman did. I think it was in very bad taste. I’m sure he weighed the pros and cons and decided that the publicity would be greater than the liability. Maybe he was wrong. Don Imus lost his job, but isn’t he back? It’s a fine line they cross between crude and unacceptable. I do think it’s reprehensible how Sarah’s children are exploited. It’s shameful.

Very devastated. His son worked with him at the dealership. He was a very healthy 50 yr old man. I don’t know for sure what caused the heart attack but he did just get word last Thursday that their dealership was not going to be apart of the “new GM” and they had 6 months to clear out.
They thought their dealership was going to be safe because they made it through the first round of closings. I guess more dealerships are yet to be closed. It doesn’t make sense because their dealership was very profitable.

Well maybe we should have an obesity tax to pay for healthcare. The gov’t can weigh us every month and then charge us an obesity tax for every pound over our ideal weight. As we become less obese, we’ll need less taxes for health care and we’ll be charged less. I imagine there would be the equivolent of “going postal” on those weigh in days. Very devastated. His son worked with him at the dealership. He was a very healthy 50 yr old man. I don’t know for sure what caused the heart attack but he did just get word last Thursday that their dealership was not going to be apart of the “new GM” and they had 6 months to clear out.

I was working on a post on Unbiased Media sources, and you know what, I COULD NOT FIND ANY!!!! foxy, I could not find any date or footage of the alleged statement, so I will concede that it may just be a vicious internet rumor but it does appear that both the Washington Post and Molly Ivins published the story, but they don’t cite a specific date and it just sounds vague. I do believe Rush would have cause to sue them for libel if he didn’t say it.
Regardless, I’m sorry I passed on an unsubstantiated accusation. I saw blogs with some people insisting it didn’t happen and others saying they saw it. But as one blogger very articulately stated, memory is not proof. Just because a commenter says they were flipping channels one time and saw Rush make the very statement doesn’t mean a thing. Just like you definitively saying it didn’t happen because you never saw it.
But the burden of proof should be on the one who said he said it. I can’t find proof. I give up.

I went down to the courthouse and watched some hearings. It was pretty interesting.
arraignments, pleas, continuances etc.
There was a soldier there who offered an “Alford plea” pleading guilty to assault. He was in a bar fight.
His attorney implied that there is a trend in the bar to pick on military and target them and I guess bait them into assaults. He accused the bouncer of being complicit. Don’t know if that is really happening or not, but I thought it was a good try to get sympathy from the judge. He got a $5000. fine and suspended sentence.
Man, the judge and all the attorneys seem to be scrambling all the time. It’s kind of like a game.
justice is a rare thing. our courts are all about avoiding trials to save money. justice isn’t served, it negotiated.
I just heard this, but I don’t know if I can trust my memory from the time I heard it to the time I typed it in.

I dont know the full story or whose right or wrong. But the Oklahoma news is on fire since Oreilly & Geraldo came down here. Some folks say that Oreilly & Geraldo are covering their butts for false reporting. They are accusing a judge & DA of messing up a child molestation case. Some folks have been rounding up citizens to go to that town to rally in front of court house. We did not go down there TO rally against them, because we don’t know the truth of the matter. We drove by the court house the other day just to see if Geraldo would be on the scene, but we did not see any rally. Maybe it got canceled.
The 1st time I heard of this was on Oreilly. Now its in Oklahoma news EVERY DAY.

O voted for this law last year when he was Senator. But as President, has ignored this law. His reasons for the IGs removal is ‘he’s confused and disoriented’.
The real reason is the IG was doing his job and investigating a friend of Os, the mayor of Sacramento.
The real story behind this is there is no coverage from CBS and NBS. ABS is covering it, but does not tell of the IGs investigation or the ignoring of 30 day notice. Only Fox is giving this story full coverage.
I didn’t check Commie News Net. Who cares.
