Obama will likely answer to Congress about his Citizenship

obama subway grate

Barack Obama is a citizen… of some country …somewhere.

That is a fact.

That he has spent a million dollars on lawyers to avoid proving which country he is a citizen of is a matter of public record.

If he were a Republican, the Socialist Trolls would have broken into the vault and seized his birth certificate last June.

The conservatives are much more methodical and deliberate and legal in the pursuit of Obama Transparency and lack there of.

Let’s see the latest news about the pursuit of openness and transparency of candidates for nomination for president.

A closing of the citizenship loophole grinds forward:

2nd congressman: Prove eligibility

Virginia Representative signs onto plan to demand evidence

Rep. Bob Goodlatte, R-Va.

Now there are two.

A Virginia congressman, very quietly, has signed onto a measure in Congress that would require presidential candidates to verify their eligibility to hold the highest elected office in the United States.

WND earlier reported when freshman Rep. Bill Posey, R-Fla., filed H.R. 1503, an amendment to the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971.

According to the Library of Congress’ bill-tracking website, H.R. 1503 would “require the principal campaign committee of a candidate for election to the office of president to include with the committee’s statement of organization a copy of the candidate’s birth certificate, together with such other documentation as may be necessary to establish that the candidate meets the qualifications

for eligibility to the Office of President under the Constitution.”

The plan has been referred to the House committee on House administration, where it has remained.

Now, Virginia Republican Bob Goodlatte has signed on as a co-sponsor, putting a notice on his website that it’s one of the efforts in which he’s joining.

“Another man with a spine – there are at least two up there on the Hill,” wrote a WND reader who has followed the Posey plan.

Get the new Whistleblower magazine, called “YOUR PAPERS, PLEASE? Why dozens of lawsuits and millions of Americans want Barack Obama to prove he’s constitutionally qualified to be president.”

George Cecala, a spokesman for Posey office, told WND that constituents had been calling, questioning whether Barack Obama – who has publicized a Certificate of Live Birth, but not his official birth certificate – has demonstrated that he meets the Constitution’s requirement to be a natural-born citizen.

“Those are legitimate constitutional concerns,” Cecala said. “Folks have brought the issue up, and the court really hasn’t clarified. And I think American citizens have a right to have answers from their government.”

Where’s the proof Barack Obama was born in the U.S. or that he fulfills the “natural-born American” clause in the Constitution? If you still want to see it, join more than 365,000 others and sign up now!

“When 7-year-olds play soccer in Brevard County, to be in Little League they have to prove their residency,” Cecala said. “To be president there are three requirements: one is citizenship, two is the age of 35, and three, you have to have been a resident for 14 years. We’re simply saying when you file your statement of candidacy with the FEC, you should also file documentation that you fulfill the three requirements to be president.

“Opponents of President Bush used the 2000 election results and the court decisions to question the legitimacy of President Bush to serve as president,” explained Rep. Posey in an official statement. “Opponents of President Obama are raising the birth certificate issue as a means of questioning his eligibility to serve as president. Neither of these situations is healthy for our republic. This bill, by simply requiring such documentation for future candidates for president will remove this issue as a reason for questioning the legitimacy of a candidate elected as president.”

Goodlatte appeared to have issued no such formal announcement as he signed onto the plan.

WND has reported on dozens of legal challenges to Obama’s status as a “natural born citizen.” The Constitution, Article 2, Section 1, states, “No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President.”

Some of the lawsuits question whether he was actually born in Hawaii, as he insists. If he was born out of the country, Obama’s American mother, the suits contend, was too young at the time of his birth to confer American citizenship to her son under the law at the time.

Other challenges have focused on Obama’s citizenship through his father, a Kenyan subject to the jurisdiction of the United Kingdom at the time of his birth, thus making him a dual citizen. The cases contend the framers of the Constitution excluded dual citizens from qualifying as natural born.

Complicating the situation is Obama’s decision to spend sums estimated in the hundreds of thousands of dollars to avoid releasing a state birth certificate that would put to rest all of the questions.

Although Obama officials have told WND all such allegations are “garbage,” here is a partial listing and status update for some of the cases over Obama’s eligibility:

  • New Jersey attorney Mario Apuzzo has filed a case on behalf of Charles Kerchner and others alleging Congress didn’t properly ascertain that Obama is qualified to hold the office of president.
  • Pennsylvania Democrat Philip Berg has three cases pending, including Berg vs. Obama in the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, a separate Berg vs. Obama which is under seal at the U.S. District Court level and Hollister vs. Soetoro a/k/a Obama, (now dismissed) brought on behalf of a retired military member

who could be facing recall to active duty by Obama.

  • Leo Donofrio of New Jersey filed a lawsuit claiming Obama’s dual citizenship disqualified him from serving as president. His case was considered in conference by the U.S. Supreme Court but denied a full hearing.
  • Cort Wrotnowski filed suit against Connecticut’s secretary of state, making a similar argument to Donofrio. His case was considered in conference by the U.S. Supreme Court, but was denied a full hearing.
  • Former presidential candidate Alan Keyes headlines a list of people filing a suit in California, in a case handled by the United States Justice Foundation, that asks the secretary of state to refuse to allow the state’s 55 Electoral College votes to be cast in the 2008 presidential election until Obama verifies his eligibility to hold the office. The case is pending, and lawyers are seeking the public’s support.
  • Chicago lawyer Andy Martin sought legal action requiring Hawaii Gov. Linda Lingle to release Obama’s vital statistics record. The case was dismissed by Hawaii Circuit Court Judge Bert Ayabe.
  • Lt. Col. Donald Sullivan sought a temporary restraining order to stop the Electoral College vote in North Carolina until Barack Obama’s eligibility could be confirmed, alleging doubt about Obama’s citizenship. His case was denied.
  • In Ohio, David M. Neal sued to force the secretary of state to request documents from the Federal Elections Commission, the Democratic National Committee, the Ohio Democratic Party and Obama to show the presidential candidate was born in Hawaii. The case was denied.
  • Also in Ohio, there was the Greenberg v. Brunner case which ended when the judge threatened to assess all case costs against the plaintiff.
  • In Washington state, Steven Marquis sued the secretary of state seeking a determination on Obama’s citizenship. The case was denied.
  • In Georgia, Rev. Tom Terry asked the state Supreme Court to authenticate Obama’s birth certificate. His request for an injunction against Georgia’s secretary of state was denied by Georgia Superior Court Judge Jerry W. Baxter.
  • California attorney Orly Taitz has brought a case, Lightfoot vs. Bowen, on behalf of Gail Lightfoot, the vice presidential candidate on the ballot with Ron Paul, four electors and two registered voters. She also has brought forward several other cases and has conducted several public campaigns to generate awareness of the issue.
  • In Texas, Darrel Hunter vs. Obama later was dismissed.
  • In Ohio, Gordon Stamper vs. U.S. later was dismissed.
  • In Texas, Brockhausen vs. Andrade.
  • In Washington, L. Charles Cohen vs. Obama.
  • In Hawaii, Keyes vs. Lingle, dismissed.

  1. Indycoltsfan says:

The constistution clearly states the requirements for the presidency. It’s pretty cut and dried. There shouldn’t be any loopholes.

  2. samhenry says:

He’s an attorney. He knows about phrases like “beyond a reasonable doubt.” It’s his life raft right about now as he and Hilary head for white waters!

  3. samhenry says:

Billy Clinton and Obama’s mother-in-law will have a high level meeting and fix this thing definitively.

  4. karmahd says:

LOL, yeah this should get some hot

  5. karmahd says:

Well off to work, late start today, work was not ready, see you all later, Karma

  6. samhenry says:

Que Bo the bow wow – everybody meet in the rose garden for photo op coverup right away.

  7. VotingFemale says:

    ya think, samhenry??

I wonder what Obama will pull when he is finally ordered to release all the records the Socialists have seen to keeping sealed for him…

  8. samhenry says:

They’re sealed alright – on the backs of the photos of Abu Graib (sp?) he now wants to keep from releasing. He’s probably deposited his birth certificate at the NA with a 50 year access stipulation.

  9. samhenry says:

VF he will pull what he has been pulling lately – it is a side issue – we press on to solve really nationally important issues at a time like this.

  10. samhenry says:

I’m quite disollusioned and at a time I have been pressing for everyone to come together. Que Michelle and her sweater and a room full of disadvantaged kids.

  11. samhenry says:

Am I all alone by the telephone?

  12. VotingFemale says:

when his back is to the wall and the backs of people covering for him… and he is forced to fess up… there will be, in my opinion, the biggest Socialist Shitstorm in the history of the US.

  13. VotingFemale says:

I had a telephone call I had to attend to

  14. m2elena says:

    morning people!!!

didn’t Obama (attorneys) spend gaggles of money on squelching this issue ?

  15. samhenry says:

Well, when the unemployment insurance in the states is exhausted and the federal monies have disappeared without a trace there will be a lot of unemployed workers and fired captains of industry in the streets by that time to add to the confusion. I’ve been waiting for this one. Doesn’t take a rocket scientist. That is when the love affair is over if he can’t locate his birth certificate and the economy tanks again. We are not in a recovery; we are in a false blip or whatever they call it.

  16. m2elena says:

Back to Palin, maybe rosehips won’t feel so ostricized if I admit: I voted for McCain Palin, b/c of Palin only. I dislike McCain. And I could have easily voted for Bob Barr. But my vote was Against Obama, and I wanted it to count.

Palin is a conservative and I believe in what she stands for, though out of the gate, I felt she was herself. But as the campaign went on, I am weary of Populist language. In fact, I despise it. It was like a battle of Populism betw. Obama and McCain, and Palin. The only person speaking, albeit gafftastically, genuine- was Joe Biden. I deplore populism and kind of a ‘put on air’… and I felt Gov. Palin transformed from a “plain speaker” (which is my preference) with clear conviction, to kind of a “package”…

Again, it is just my POV. I just happen to dislike populist language.

  17. VotingFemale says:

samhenry, the socialists are backed into a corner… they can not grow money from thin air… there is a Chinese cap in place for money that can be borrowed… if they tax the crap out of america it will ruin any chance they will win the white house in 2012 and hurt congressional elections in 201o… they are basically screwed but still breathing…

Reality is unavoidable and it hunts the Socialists…

  18. m2elena says:

VF, did you see Dick Morris’ take on Hillary last night?

    I heart Dick Morris… he he…

  19. samhenry says:

The only reason I did not vote for McCain was SP; the only reason I voted with comfort for BHO was Joe Biden.

  20. m2elena says:

I actually like Joe Biden. LOL …

  21. VotingFemale says:

I thought McCain didn’t have a chance until Palin showed up…

When it was leaked in the blogsphere earily last june that the VP vetting guy visited Palin in secret in may 2008, I wrote Sarah Palin a letter urging her to accept VP nomination if McCain offered it and pledged to stand by her if she did.

She did… I did… and I still do… even stronger in the face of the Socialist Slime Attacks on her and her children… in fact it harded me so much I took on the Socialist Trolls as a lifelong activity henceforth from that point.

  22. m2elena says:

samhenry, I know Palin’s politics were the closest mirror to my own. In fact, I was aghast at how the media/liberal trickle down supporters made Alaska look like red neck town, USA.

If that were a Democrat from Alaska, they’d be talking about how preppy/cool Alaska is and the whole “Into the Wild” love of nature thing!!

    Ha ha!!

I bet if Republicans had a candidate from Connecticut, they’d still fashion that person as a red neck. In my opinion, they love to box people up!!

  23. samhenry says:

Hi m2elena – excuse my late hello. I forgot the Chinese factor. I don’t know why. They have been running the government since they got Bill Clinton to give them the schems to that jet aircraft he wanted them to help build – in additon to shipping jobs over there.

  24. VotingFemale says:

    Joe is likeable

Obama is plastic and a glitz fabricated facade… not human in the way Joe and Sarah and John are.

  25. m2elena says:

Yeah VF, I just really liked Palin from the start, I think McCain’s people started to mold her into what they thought would win by the end.

She killed it at the RNC!!! KILLED!!!

  26. samhenry says:

M2 – I’ still a lib repub and I like my packages tightly wrapped! VF but what about the Palin experience card?

  27. m2elena says:

heck, I still like Biden- I bet he’d be a more moderate Democrat, I see a love of his nation in his character. That’s what is missing from Obama.

  28. m2elena says:

I maintain that Palin is more experienced and more of a leader than Obama.

Obama made some sophomoric goof-ups with Canada even in his first week. He is not much of a leader… as evidence by constant flip-flopping.

  29. samhenry says:

Why are the repubs already saying she won’t be a factor anymore? What will she do?

  30. VotingFemale says:

M2, when Jimmy Carter, a Georgia peanut farmer ran… they gushed over his “American Mainstream Appeal and never a word was said about his redneck background… and they guzzled Billy Beer to celebrate his presidency after taking office.,

  31. rosehips says:

ok, I have stated on numerous occasions that I would like president Obama to release his birth certificate to prove once and for all where he was born. I’d like to see proof of where in the Constitution it forbids a dual citizen from being president. I think that’s wrong.

This won’t be a popular opinion, but I think the Constitution should be amended to reflect more fair and just qualifications for the office of President. As I’ve said before, my sons could have been born in Canada since the closest hospital to where they were born was in Canada. I do not think this should have precluded them from running for Presdent if they had been born in Canada. What about McCain? Did the founding fathers give a pass to babies born on foreign soil if their parents are deployed overseas? What about babies who are born at sea? Do they have no citizenship?
I don’t think it should matter where you are born, but only if at least one of your parents is an American. And I don’t really think it is so horrible for a foreign national who becomes a US citizen to be precluded either. There perhaps should be a time requirement of say 25 years though to prevent anyone from coming to America, becoming a citizen and then running for office.

  32. m2elena says:

I think it is generated media talking points to keep harping on the issue of “leaders” of Republicans. The fact is. It doesn’t matter. Not now. The Democrats are wasting their time harping on the Republican party b/c they want to divert the attention off their actions, and they want to put off to society that Republicans are weak. Classic rules for radicals…

Lastly for most people, they didn’t know who Barack Obama was until 6-8 months before he was elected.

samhenry says: Why are the repubs already saying she won’t be a factor anymore? What will she do?

  33. VotingFemale says:

You are putting all Republican into one big lump…
her presidential opponents like Mitt Romney say things like that… Rush Limbaugh is giving her the nod as the best of the contenders…
you have to understand that she has opponents in the GOP just as Hillary was an opponent of Obama… and likely always will be.

    samhenry says
Why are the repubs already saying she won’t be a factor anymore? What will she do?

  34. m2elena says:

right and who is targeted now VF? Rush and Palin… not Mitt, not (cough) Republican Powell. Conservatism, true conservatism is targeted, which means that is what direction for small government, low tax, individual rights Republicans should take.

    Keep on truckin’ Honk Honk!!!
    LOL

  35. samhenry says:

m2 – you have a point there. It has bothered me that with all the expertise he surrounded himself with, they should have been more careful in the vetting process. The only one at the WH with a government nanual is Michell. I was a librarian/archivist. I can tell these things.

  36. VotingFemale says:

What would you add to, or change, in the Constitution to make it more “fair?”

Do you think it is unfair to preclude foreign borns from running for president?

Should candidates even be a US citizen?

And why was it that the natural born citizenship clause was inportant?

    Rose says,

This won’t be a popular opinion, but I think the Constitution should be amended to reflect more fair and just qualifications for the office of President.

  37. m2elena says:

rosehips… I agree it’s not a fundamental issue of place of birth, but more an testament to the Marketing of Brand Barack Obama.

The people were not given his true history, his history was fabricated. And he spoke a centrist game harping about Tax Cuts for 95% of people (that’s all I remember in fact)… Now the Tax Cuts turn out to be Credits, that are less than Bush’s Credit in 2008.

And for that our Triple Credit Rating is in jeopardy and he has spent more than all our presidents combined spent.

    We’ve been duped!!! LOL!!

  38. samhenry says:

I hate to seem naieve and alarmist but in these times of Islamics populating all of Europe, an Inman in Britain exclaimed recently that within 10-25 years the PM of Britain will be Islamic. I was in Norway 2 summers ago and they are there, too and natives know why. I don’t want the head of a sleeper cell for president. Give his/her son the chance when the bond to this soil has been solidified. This should account for the natural born cit clause as I understand it.

  39. rosehips says:

did you read the rest of my comment vf or did you go off on a rage after reading my first sentence?

read the rest of my comment and then ask yer questions that haven’t been answered already. I will be happy to respond but I don’t appreciate having to repeat myself because you were too outraged to finish hearing what I had to say. 😉

vf said: What would you add to, or change, in the Constitution to make it more “fair?”

  40. m2elena says:

Britain has done a great dis-service to their nation with their laxity for PC reason on Muslim hate speakers.

  41. rosehips says:

lol sam, who wants the head of a sleeper cell to be president? I don’t think the Americans are that stupid, do you?

  42. m2elena says:

    YES they are!!!

    Ha ha ha ha…

    j/k … well only slightly! :p

  43. rosehips says:

ok sam, sorry. I see you were talking about Britain. whoops.

  44. samhenry says:

Worse the Arch Bish came out on the side of shira law (spelling”). I’ll bet the Queen and head of the church had more than one Scotch that night with an early bedtime sans corgis. Que William and Kate.

  45. m2elena says:

I think if there is one update to the Constitution to be made- it could be the harmless birth issue or dual-citizenship.

I do, however, think Obama and his handlers have been hiding and continue to hide much about their agenda and his real role as POTUS.

  46. VotingFemale says:

I’ll be right back… just need to eat a bit of breakfast.

  47. m2elena says:

LOL!!! It’s an upside down world!!! LOL @ the Queen…

    samhenry says:
I’ll bet the Queen and head of the church had more than one Scotch that night with an early bedtime sans corgis. Que William and Kate.

  48. rosehips says:

m2, it’s sounds like you are already convinced that he was born in kenyan. Is there an ounce of proof that this is true? I have never even read the claims of his grandmother who is purported to have said she attended his birth in kenya. Are there others who corroborate her story?

m2 said: The people were not given his true history, his history was fabricated

  49. samhenry says:

I was an “Episcolopian” but I had my lopian tubes tied!

  50. m2elena says:

    I am!!!!!!!!!!

  51. rosehips says:

ok vf, go eat your cheerios. Maybe you should pour some kool-aid on them while your at it. heehee
but I will be expecting a response when you return.
    I’ll be waiting….

  52. m2elena says:

Just the fact that so much effort has gone into scrubbing his birth, and I don’t trust Daily Kos nor the Annenburg funded, Factcheck.org -and since those are the 2 media outlets to release the COB, I’ve got mega-doubt!!

  53. m2elena says:

    Kool-aid!!

Maybe we can call it “Glenn-aid” since he’s the resident conspiracy theorist pundit.

  54. rosehips says:

m2, so what do you base you belief about obama’s citizenship on? Please don’t tell me wnd.

  55. m2elena says:

    Is it rainy there rosehips?

  56. rosehips says:

ok, I admit that I have never read anything about obama’s efforts to scrub his birth. Can you give me a credible source for this information. and again, please don’t cite wnd. I don’t put any credence in that publication.

  57. rosehips says:

ahhh, trying to change the subject m2. Is that a conservative tactic? lol.

  58. m2elena says:

Just the not releasing of all those records, all his papers, grades. His ability to sit in a church for 20 years for opportunism. Everything about his character- guess it’s a gut feeling.

But since I don’t trust Daily Kos, or Factcheck.org, like you don’t trust WND… all I can say is, the man has spent a lot of mooh-lah to seal this issue. And he also signed one of his first executive order to seal his records, right?

It’s all gut feeling! Let’s call it woman’s intuition. 😉

  59. rosehips says:

sorry m2, I know I usually don’t grill you like this but I feel our friendship has risen to a new level and therefore I want you to be able to withstand my scrutiny. Just trying to help here. 😉

  60. m2elena says:

Think it shouldn’t be THAT hard to bring out the real birth certificate. Don’t you think it’s funny that they won’t?

  61. rosehips says:

did he really sign an executive order to seal his records? I hadn’t heard that. See I still don’t know where to look for this information. That should be public record though. How can I find it?

  62. m2elena says:

Well, how come the media never spoke to a colleague or peer from his time at Columbia or Harvard?

Why should we not be asking these questions. Why won’t he just produce the official BC. It’s obvious Kos is a left nut kook blogger.

I think it’s irrational not to question why we haven’t been given more about his history.

Really? No thesis, paper from school?
    Why?

  63. rosehips says:

yes I agree with you there. I don’t understand why obama won’t produce the bc and that does make me suspicious. I think the courts should compel him to do that. I don’t know why they haven’t.

  64. m2elena says:

LOL here’s a nice site, kind of as ACCEPTABLE as Daily Kos producing Obama’s COB. And everyone seemed to accept that JUST FINE.

    LOL http://www.dailypaul.com/node/92168

  65. rosehips says:

I think I will go to the library today and see if the copy of “Rules for Radicals” has been returned. I kind of doubt it. For all I know it was checked out in 1969 and never returned. damn radicals.

  66. m2elena says:

I’m just going to use a philosophical end to means.
There are enough questions about the past and hidden past (papers, records), than the 1 response by Obama which is, COB from Kos/factcheck.org

By that argument, I believe he is covering. And especially, what’s the date on this Exec. Order- Oh look January 21, 2009.

What would you do if you wanted to hide your past as soon as you assumed office?????

  67. m2elena says:

    Damn radicals! 😀

  68. m2elena says:

    samhenry gone?
    VF gone?

… well rosehips, I’ve got work to do! I will chat at you later!! 🙂

  69. m2elena says:

Hey rosehips, I just realized, I should have written COLB… Certificate of Live Birth. Instead of COB.
    Just clarifying…

    OBAMA PRESIDENTIAL ELIGIBILITY IN DOUBT
Accused of lying, concealing true citizenship

Obama – Smoking gun finally found? AP- WASHINGTON D.C. – In a move certain to fuel the debate over Obama’s qualifications for the presidency, the group “Americans for Freedom of Information” has released copies of President Obama’s college transcripts from Occidental College. Released today, the transcript indicates that Obama under the name Barry Soetoro, received financial aid as a foreign student from Indonesia as an undergraduate at the school. The transcript was released by Occidental College in compliance with a court order in a suit brought by the group in the Superior Court of California. The transcript shows that Obama (Soetoro) applied for financial aid and was awarded a fellowship for foreign students from the Fulbright Foundation Scholarship program. To qualify, for the scholarship, a student must claim foreign citizenship.

I initially wrote that I agree with all you said… then looking back asked questions which you quoted.

what you said is you wanted, in part, to make it more “fair.” I think it is fair… I dont want foreign borns in office and Obama is a prime reason not to do so…

  76. samhenry says:

I was not on the run – I was googling for evidence of Obama citizenship. Not a lot out there from sources that are neutral or governmental. Will look further. An interesting site, israelinsider had test run on the birth certificate presented and found it a resounding fake.http://web.israelinsider.com/Articles/Politics/12993.htm. I press on for more evidence.

  81. samhenry says:

VF – wasn’t the thinking behind the declaration that foreign nationals cannot be a president something along the lines of – we had so recently kicked the Brits out of here and that we did not want the “agent” of a foreign government born elsewhere to hold that power. What if we found out that Sarah Palin was born was born on a fishing boat somewhere out in the Bearing Sea? Good morning fellow extremist!

  93. samhenry says:

RH – Many of the founding fathers were foreign born; all had been Brit Cits. But in their minds, they were not dual cits. They were Americans newly minted setting up rules for the President Office with rules based largely on fears a foreigner would come in again with tea not to their liking.

  94. ohiobelle says:

Oh My God! If anybody is watching the big fat ugly liar on tv (Nancy), she is lying her big fat ugly butt off!!!! I can prove it…

Opinions and dialog is fine by me dear.
What is unfair and unjust about the constitutional qualifications for the office of President? I am fine with them as is…

As I’ve said before, my sons could have been born in Canada since the closest hospital to where they were born was in Canada. I do not think this should have precluded them from running for Presdent if they had been born in Canada.

According to law, that would not have mattered if your sons were born in canada because both their parents are natural born citizens and both sons held natural born US citizenship under the law… just as was the case with John McCain, who was born in Panama but of two natural born citizens of the US and his birth was registered legally and correctly according the the law.

There are laws which cover extenuating circumstances which were not written into the constitution and do not violate the intent of the constitution… and that is to preclude foreign influence from occupying the office of president… as is, in my opinion, the case with Obama.

you said you agreed with everything I said but that was regarding your last post about Gov. Palin. I’m not sure what that has to do about this conversation. 😕

glad you are in a good mood. When you start writing in CAPS, it tends to get me on edge. But you know how much I like it on the edge. heehee

I am in a very cheerful mood and nothing you said ruffled my fur dear! promise! I keep getting pinged by the telephone… grrrr and it breaks my continuity.

    Congress and Waterboarding
Nancy Pelosi was an accomplice to ‘torture.By KARL ROVE
Someone important appears not to be telling the truth about her knowledge of the CIA’s use of enhanced interrogation techniques (EITs). That someone is Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. The political persecution of Bush administration officials she has been pushing may now ensnare her.

Here’s what we know. On Sept. 4, 2002, less than a year after 9/11, the CIA briefed Rep. Porter Goss, then House Intelligence Committee chairman, and Mrs. Pelosi, then the committee’s ranking Democrat, on EITs including waterboarding. They were the first members of Congress to be informed.

In December 2007, Mrs. Pelosi admitted that she attended the briefing, but she wouldn’t comment for the record about precisely what she was told. At the time the Washington Post spoke with a “congressional source familiar with Pelosi’s position on the matter” and summarized that person’s comments this way: “The source said Pelosi recalls that techniques described by the CIA were still in the planning stage — they had been designed and cleared with agency lawyers but not yet put in practice — and acknowledged that Pelosi did not raise objections at the time.”

When questions were raised last month about these statements, Mrs. Pelosi insisted at a news conference that “We were not — I repeat — were not told that waterboarding or any of these other enhanced interrogation methods were used.” Mrs. Pelosi also claimed that the CIA “did not tell us they were using that, flat out. And any, any contention to the contrary is simply not true.” She had earlier said on TV, “I can say flat-out, they never told us that these enhanced interrogations were being used.”

The Obama administration’s CIA director, Leon Panetta, and Mr. Goss have both disputed Mrs. Pelosi’s account.

In a report to Congress on May 5, Mr. Panetta described the CIA’s 2002 meeting with Mrs. Pelosi as “Briefing on EITs including use of EITs on Abu Zubaydah, background on [legal] authorities, and a description of the particular EITs that had been employed.” Note the past tense — “had been employed.”

Mr. Goss says he and Mrs. Pelosi were told at the 2002 briefing about the use of the EITs and “on a bipartisan basis, we asked if the CIA needed more support from Congress to carry out its mission.” He is backed by CIA sources who say Mr. Goss and Mrs. Pelosi “questioned whether we were doing enough” to extract information.

We also know that Michael Sheehy, then Mrs. Pelosi’s top aide on the Intelligence Committee and later her national security adviser, not only attended the September 2002 meeting but was also briefed by the CIA on EITs on Feb. 5, 2003, and told about a videotape of Zubaydah being waterboarded. Mr. Sheehy was almost certain to have told Mrs. Pelosi. He has not commented publicly about the 2002 or the 2003 meetings.

So is the speaker of the House lying about what she knew and when? And, if so, what will Democrats do about it?

If Mrs. Pelosi considers the enhanced interrogation techniques to be torture, didn’t she have a responsibility to complain at the time, introduce legislation to end the practices, or attempt to deny funding for the CIA’s use of them? If she knew what was going on and did nothing, does that make her an accessory to a crime of torture, as many Democrats are calling enhanced interrogation?

Senate Judiciary Chairman Pat Leahy wants an independent investigation of Bush administration officials. House Judiciary Chairman John Conyers feels the Justice Department should investigate and prosecute anyone who violated laws against committing torture. Are these and other similarly minded Democrats willing to have Mrs. Pelosi thrown into their stew of torture conspirators as an accomplice?

It is clear that after the 9/11 attacks Mrs. Pelosi was briefed on enhanced interrogation techniques and the valuable information they produced. She not only agreed with what was being done, she apparently pressed the CIA to do more.

But when political winds shifted, Mrs. Pelosi seems to have decided to use enhanced interrogation as an issue to attack Republicans. It is disgraceful that Democrats who discovered their outrage years after the fact are now braying for disbarment of the government lawyers who justified EITs and the prosecution of Bush administration officials who authorized them. Mrs. Pelosi is hip-deep in dangerous waters, and they are rapidly rising.

Mr. Rove is the former senior adviser and deputy chief of staff to President George W. Bush.

poor Pelosi, As a leading democrat she has a hard time keeping her lies in order. She should use obama’s teleprompter. It seems to help him keep his lies in order.

  232. samhenry says:

I had better sign off and watch Pelosi perkolate. Remember all I was taking bets on “how long” for her. I hate to see a woman with a good makeover cry. I want to write her and ask what brand lipstick she buys – all that shimmer. Do you think it would be an imposition at this time? I can’t imagine she is really following her press conferences. She is probably counting on someone who was there to tell her about them.

  233. samhenry says:

I meant to say bye and f…..ers all! Not meant as a push off with a shitload.

  234. VF this is so great and all the posts are so funny too! you know talking about the sharks circling and pelosi and pants on fire! and future posts! OH MY GOSH! YOu know it was just a matter of time before his facade closed in and completely fell down. Eventhough to some degree this whole event is biblical prophecy being revealed and fulfilled. Look at what that goofball is doing to the middle east? you know what they say? the more you stir it, the more it stinks.

    2nd congressman: Prove eligibility
    Now there are two.
A Virginia congressman, very quietly, has signed onto a measure in Congress that would require presidential candidates to verify their eligibility to hold the highest elected office in the United States.

WND earlier reported when freshman Rep. Bill Posey, R-Fla., filed H.R. 1503, an amendment to the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971.

Read the latest now on WND.com.

  243. LisaInTX says:

Okay when Pelosi is attempting to defend herself, the term is “Enhanced Interrogation Techniques, but when on the political attack, it is termed TORTURE!
    What a hypocritical wind-bag liar!

    From Indy’s comment above.
“Mrs.

  244. karmahd says:

I am probably going to regret this but I am now allowing comments on my blog….

  247. Barack Hussein Obama obviously has something to hide. He obviously knows how to keep a secret when it comes to releasing his Birth Certificate; the one document that could bolster the argument that he is, in fact, eligible under Article 2, Section 1, of the United States Constitution to hold the office of President of the United States.

And yet, Barack Hussein Obama has no problem sharing information that SHOULD remain secret to the entire world and to our enemies.

Case in point! The Obama Administration just released secret memos and photographs that detail the interrogations of terrorists that were being held in American custody.

Obama authorized the release of these photographs and memos in spite of the undeniable fact that releasing these memos and photographs places the lives of our intelligence operatives and their families in imminent danger.

Obama authorized the release of these photographs and memos in spite of the undeniable fact that releasing these memos severely compromises our national security, and endangers each and every one of us.

It’s becoming more and more clear, with each passing day, that the issue surrounding Obama’s refusal to release his Birth Certificate and prove his eligibility to hold the office of President of the United States goes much deeper than initially thought.

The fact that Obama has something to hide when it comes to his Birth Certificate (and some of his college records for that matter) is now more than apparent.

And Obama, through his own obstruction in this matter, has established that contention as valid. It can no longer be reasonably questioned.

But what is now becoming apparent is that Obama’s refusal to release his Birth Certificate hints at an arrogance and disdain of the American people that is unprecedented… an arrogance and disdain that places all of us, our children, our grandchildren and our way of life in extreme jeopardy.
