Obama and Co’s so-called “Reconciliation” Fast Track Offensive for Borrowing Trillions more for Health Care and Massive Energy Taxation of Americans under Cap & Trade Scheme

Folks… the Obama Socialist Party has branded the word Reconciliation” as the Title of their coming  fast track slash and burn Congressional assault method.  Socialists dubbing it as “Reconciliation” is to put Lipstick on their “Second Hundred Days” Shock and Awe  Offensive Spending Bills to trust their plans down the throat of America.

CNN will assist the Socialists

They can’t do it without CNN

CNN should change it’s name to SNN

If you thought you have seen the full breadth and depth of Obama Socialism, see what Obama & Co has in store for the second 100 days of power.

The Global Warming Taxation Trolling and the coming Health Care  Pigzilla of Trillions more of borrowing are on their way to a bank account with your name on it.

The coming additional Monsterous Financial Assault on wage earning voters by the Socialists will make the Socialist stunts of the first 100 days look like child’s play by comparison.

The GOP is working out the details of re-branding the Democrat Party to correctly call it what it really is… The Socialist Party. And the Socialists don’t like it one bit.

Stop incorrectly calling the liberal party the so-called Democrat Party…

Call it what is really is… the Socialist Party.

While the world needs to develop cleaner energy methods… to turn that into a Socialist Attack on people with withering massive taxation will further cripple an already Socialist Crippled United States.

The path to clean energy is a long one… at least 10 to 20 years to complete… and Both Parties must agree to making it happen in ways that do not ruin our Economy in the process.

But… this Socialist Financial Attack on Americans in the name of Cleaner Energy is a Partisan Tactic.

We will achieve cleaner energy but it will not, can not, happen in a few years and must not by done via a Socialist Partisan Slaughter of our Economy for the power benefiting of the Socialists, hell bent on a power struggle with the GOP.

If ever there should be, could be, must be, a mutually agreeable method and plan to bring the US into the clean energy world… it must be bipartisan and crafted without Partisan Power Plays to kill off the other party and our Economy.

Now let’s see what is coming during the next three months as we move into summer, fellow voters.

And, Moderates who voted for Obama? You need to do some more independent thinking… how long are you going to “give them a chance”?

Obama, Democrats Eye Tactic to Shield Health Care Plan From GOP Opposition

Republicans, who have been complaining furiously about the prospect of health care reform passing under fast-track rules, are not planning to go down without a fight.

President Obama and his Democratic allies in Congress are poised to trample Republican opposition to his health care bill with a controversial legislative tactic known as reconciliation.

The fast-track process would protect Obama’s ambitious plan to overhaul the U.S. health care system from a potential GOP filibuster and limit the Republicans’ ability to get concessions. It also would give Democrats far more control over the specifics of the health care legislation.

Under typical Senate rules, 60 votes are needed to advance a bill, but reconciliation would enable Democrats to enact the health care plan with just a simple majority and only 20 hours of debate.

Democrats hold 56 seats in the Senate, and two independents typically vote with the party. Republicans have 41 seats, and there is one vacancy.

Republicans have complained furiously about the prospect of health care reform passing under fast-track rules. But they’re not planning to go down without a fight.

A GOP Senate committee aide told FOXNews.com that Republican lawmakers are considering offering amendments to the legislation that would be unpalatable to Democrats.

Senate Republicans made a similar move with the D.C. Voting Rights Bill, which would have given the city its first seat in the House, by adding a controversial amendment that would repeal most of the District’s local gun-control regulations. That bill now is waiting for a vote in the House.

For the health care bill, Republicans would try to add amendments that require employers to provide a certain number of dollars for every employee and limit the ability of uninsured Americans to choose health care providers, “specific changes that Democrats have said will not be included in any comprehensive health care plan,” the aide said.

“I would assume this is the only option left,” the aide told FOXNews.com.

But Democrats aren’t stopping at health care. Obama’s plan to cut private banks and other lending institutions out of the market for student loans would also move on a filibuster-free path.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said Friday that most House and Senate negotiators have resolved most of their differences over a congressional budget blueprint designed to advance Obama’s agenda through Congress. The measure will set the rules on how Congress considers Obama’s agenda for the rest of the year.

Lawmakers are rushing to agree on the budget framework in time to give Obama a victory within his first 100 days in office.

The negotiations have centered on the annual congressional budget resolution, which sets the parameters for the legislation that follows. Congressional votes next week would provide a symbolic victory for Obama’s sweeping agenda to enact a universal health care system, invest in education and clean energy and cut the exploding budget deficit to manageable levels.

Obama marks his 100th day in office on Wednesday.

Hoping for a better chance at passing Obama’s health care bill, Democrats have agreed to allow the president’s signature $400 tax cut for most workers to expire after next year.

Obama’s “Making Work Pay” tax cut of $400 for most workers and $800 for couples would expire at the end of 2010 as currently scheduled. The temporary tax cut was part of the economic stimulus plan enacted in February, and Obama is proposing to make it permanent.

The fast-track process could have a downside for Obama, since it’s sure to anger Republicans whose support could help with business, insurers and other key interest groups.

Democrats, including Obama, have said repeatedly that they want the health care debate to be bipartisan and that the filibuster-proof terms would be used only if the GOP obstructs. But Republicans say the move has already poisoned the debate.

“Reconciliation is basically a nuclear weapon to use against the negotiators so what happens is nobody negotiates seriously because they can always go to reconciliation … tilting the playing field unfairly,” said Sen. Judd Gregg of New Hampshire, top Republican on the Budget Committee.

Sen. Max Baucus of Montana, one of the leading Democrats trying to write a health care bill, said Friday that going the fast-track route would only complicate matters, because Republican support is needed to pass legislation that would be broadly accepted.

“When you jam something down somebody’s throat, it’s not sustainable,” Baucus told reporters. “And I want something that will last.”

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Yipiee, hey VF technical question, I have not uploaded video yet but I think I did try once and the format did not work??? Do you upload or Rose you might be able to answer this, to youtube then copy that link to this post, or can you upload right from the blog creation page??

  3. karmahd says:

When I first joined Ireport I mentioned that the win for Obama was not a good thing if you care about checks and balance in our political system! With the current “numbers” in the house and senate as well as the executive branch, you are seeing Carte Blanch on many programs, two things might help return some semblance of actual checks and balance government, one being the group of moderate democrats who have segmented as group, (real reason was to gain more power), and two a conscience of some of these idiots! We are in a Monarchy it appears this first 100 days…

and vf, what happened to you? you come in say gm and you out again? you must be trolling around, eh?

  9. rosehips says:

I think there should be a clear majority to pass such sweeping legislation as health care reform. I just can’t fathom how insurance can be affordable when hc costs are so high. More and more procedures to prolong life create problems and expense and we end up spending scads of money in the last years of life. Somethings wrong with that picture.

I believe we need to focus much more effort on preventing disease than curing it.

limiting emissions from industry and cars is an excellent way to prevent respiratory disease, for a beginning. toxic contamination creates many, many health problems. We can save lots of money in hc by eliminating the causes of hc problems.

  10. rosehips says:

my son just got his financial aid package and things are looking good except for one thing. His aid is contingent on the State maintaining current levels of assistance and the State has been cutting financial aid spending. So the biggest chunk of his package is in jeopardy. I am hoping that he will be able to take out loans to make up the difference.

  11. billalmighty says:

health care costs could be regulated by a board or panel comprised of health care professionals, execs, patient advocates, related businesses, etc.

the idea that govt has any place involved is just wrong. the more we can keep congress out of, the better

even the poor can be offered discount health care through charity

The mom was over 200 lbs and the kids were overweight too. really big. the girl was eating a hot dog and had a mustache of mustard and ketchup and it just really struck me how effin’ fat our society has become. I look at how the government run healthcare is NOT working in Europe and that tells me all I need to know. It does not work.
I liked the idea of what that one Dr was doing where patients paid a monthly payment like $79 and most care was covered regardless of how many times you went per month. NO INSURANCE companies to play middle men or file paperwork. Just patient to doctor.

  40. VotingFemale says:

One of the elements of the high cost of health care is profiteering by health care professionals and companies.

One possible fix in a segment of that high cost is the wages earned by doctors.

If… instead of passing on the outragious costs charged by the health care industry on to tax payers… why not deal with the root of the problem.

For example… too few doctors causes too high fees. The more doctors, the more competition amongst doctors for patients, thus income.

Tax payer funding of the costs of medical school would unleash a lot more doctors into the profession… thus increase doctor to doctor competition for patients…

it is an application of the Economic Law of Supply vs Demand

Higher the demand on the total capacity of the doctor community, the higher the cost.

Increase the capacity to provide healthcare via increasing the population of doctors, and the costs go down due to competition.

Also quality would go up as competition is survival of the fittest

  41. karmahd says:

    Yesterdays bike fest in Leesburg

  42. VotingFemale says:

Another issue… marketing costs of prescription medications is passed on to the consumer in the price charged them and their health insurance companies…

A new analysis provided by the managed care industry reports that from 1999 to 2000, prescriptions written for the top 50 most heavily advertised drugs rose 24.6 percent, compared to 4.3 percent for all other drugs combined.1 Drug manufacturing is a $122 billion industry, so a small increase in market share can reflect a multimillion-dollar boost for any particular company.

  43. VotingFemale says:

    Cool vid Karma.

I would change the title to something like

    “Leesburg Bikefest 2009, KarmaHD”

people find and watch videos by searching key words that are in the title of a vid

if you now want to embed that vid in your WP blog post…

Go into editor HTML mode ( a tab switch between Visual mode and HTML mode)

    And paste this…

that is all there is to embedding a youtube vid.

The youtube supplied “embed code” will never work at wordpress. it was disabled due to security issues.

then just switch back to post editor Visual mode.

I switch back and forth between Visual and HTML modes all the time… when creating a post.

  46. VotingFemale says:

when we make vids it is important to edit out things like self-identifying license plate numbers and the like…

  47. LisaInTX says:

    VF
Well said regarding supply and demand. I’ll add that If the Insurance companies could be reduced to their prior status like they were YEARS ago, the “sue me happy’s ” that prey upon those that ARE insured would dry up and reduce allot of those high costs that are passed to the patients.

  48. VotingFemale says:

over the top awards for malpractice law suits could be done away with… forever.

    1) revoke the license of a care giver if an offensive meets a to be defined threshhold
    and

    2) get rid of malpractice insurance all togther

    3) put a cap on awards for malpractice suits that exceed the financial ability of a health care giver is capable of paying and still have a roof over their head.
    4) the suit award is the burden of the health care giver/s personally… not corporately unless it is proven that a corporation is directly responsible. And prevent passing on of lawsuit payouts to customers.

  49. VotingFemale says:

in my view, the creation of malpractice insurance has driven up the cost of health care to all consumers in an extraordinary way…

    time to end malpractice insurance

  50. rosehips says:

lisa, I just don’t see how the $79 policy can work without health care reform.

Can you explain what is worse about European country’s health care (ie france and great britain)?

  51. rosehips says:

vf, all very good points. If we provide medical students with free education, it can help to alleviate the high salaries. Isn’t that what they do in Europe?

  52. rosehips says:

I agree that malpractice suits are out of control and need to be controlled.
I don’t know how we can afford all the high-cost procedures that are becoming more and more available. We can’t administer every single person life extending treatments and procedures to prolong their life for a matter of months or a year or two. But where do you draw the line?

  53. rosehips says:

and again, if people choose lifestyles that promote heart disease and diabetes etc, I don’t think we should have to pay for all necessary surgery that will be required to save them from a heart attack. But what do we do?

  54. rosehips says:

    well, I’m talkin’ to meself.

  55. VotingFemale says:

there again is the issue… “high cost” of medical care.

control the root cause here… it is overcharging thus creating a “high cost” of medical procedures.

Break down the spread sheet items on a “high cost”proceedure and one will see “profit” as the highest item.

    rosehips says

I agree that malpractice suits are out of control and need to be controlled.
I don’t know how we can afford all the high-cost procedures that are becoming more and more available.

  56. VotingFemale says:

there is a shell game going on…

and the consumer, as with over the top interest payments on credit card debt, is glossed over by the media.

we are getting raped financially from all sides

  57. highplainsgirl says:

Sorry, VF, I didn’t read the whole thing… but I did read the part about cleaner energy, which is what I’m interested in anyway.

I feel that in an ideal world filled with ideal people, private industry should tackle the climate change issue. But unfortunately, that’s not the world we live in. Private industry and individuals have had decades to do something about it, but have not. And since it has an unimaginable potential to alter everything about society, something Must be done. It should have been done 30 years ago, not today, not twenty years from now.

The Very biggest beef I have with the Conservative Right is their continuing denial that there’s a climate problem. And the insistance that the economy is more important than the climate. It just doesn’t make sense to me. Why ever on earth would climate NOT have a very big and direct impact on economies all over the world?

A whole lot of the Conservative focus has been on abortion, and nearly nothing on this HUGE problem we face as an entire world. I’m not saying the abortion issue isn’t worthwhile, but considering the destructive potential of a 3-5 degree temperature increase globally, it’s small potatoes. Malaria. Floods. Drought. Famine. Tornadoes. Wars. Massive alterations in where food farming is possible.

Something like a BILLION people live close enough to the ocean that a rise of 3 to 5 feet (not to mention the Possibility of a 20 to 30 foot increase) in ocean levels would send them migrating. Imagine that scenario??

  58. LisaInTX says:

    Rose
Because it is the GOVERNMENT that chooses WHO gets healthcare and who DOES NOT. They are in charge, not the individual. That IMO…is VERY scary and very dangerous.

  59. VotingFemale says:

I think the biggest reason that is said by the right is because the Left has Politicized it as a weapon against the right to justify policies which are capitalist killers.

There is an extraordinarily huge capability of money making in cleaner energy. Cleaner energy needs to be DE-POLITICIZED and progress made in a BI-PARTISAN WAY.
Not to kill off Capitalism. So yeah… the right will push back against the left as long as the left attacks capitalism under the cleaner energy banner.

We will use dirty energy to create cleaner energy. Just as we used stone knives and axes on the way to making metal knives and axes… used the wright brother’s Wright Flyer Aeroplane on the way to creating the Space Shuttle.

It is not done over night… but it has to be a goal and an honest non-economy killing plans have to be drawn up and acted upon in a BIPARTISAN WAY.

These two parties are pitting amercian against american… and we americans continue to pay the consequences.

We have an oil based economy and that economy will create a cleaner energy economy that really works… not some pie in the sky potitician’s self-serving BS plan to kill off one party or the other.

IMO…the majority of these folks are doing nothing less than Fear Mongering in order to gain mass wealth from the people by taxing us and raising our utility bills.

ManKind controlling our planet? Now that I find absolutely mind numbing at the very thought and impossible presumption.
This world has been around for billions of years and to think a ‘dot’ in the evolution chain can control it, just makes me shake my head in wonder.
The waters will rise and fall as they have done before—how can MAN stop it anymore than attempting to stop a hurricane, a tornado, lightening striking, a volcano from exploding or an earthquake from happening??
Man CAN’T stop those things—but corrupt and greedy ones can sure gain allot of wealth by using FEAR TACTICS and taking advantage of those that are very concerned for our planet and environment and use that fear to CONTROL them.

Have you been hospitalized in a foreign hospital?

One of the problems with American hospitals, due to costs of operating a hospital, is a poor nurse to patient ratio. A doctor spends very little time with a patient… that burden falls to the nurse. Got any idea what the typical nurse to patient load ratio is in a typical American hospital? I am going to ask you to google for that answer… rather than tell you.

These are just few things that I do everyday to help maintain my environment because I KNOW, a’int no way I can stop the world from following its cycles….It’s not something any MAN can do, no matter how many falsely claim otherwise….No offense, but this is IMO

It’s a fact that if you add CO2 to water, the pH drops. It’s a fact that burning petroleum (i.e. the combustion process) results in a product of CO2 plus H2O plus contaminants (metals that were complexed to the molecules.) It’s also a fact that the ocean’s are becoming more acidic, and that the CO2 concentration in the oceans has risen.

THIS is directly measurable, and directly linked to human activity. It is also having pretty dramatic effects on sealife.

It’s ALSO a fact that CO2 IS a greenhouse gas. All it takes is a gas chamber and an IR spectrometer to observe it. It’s a fact that CH4 is a greenhouse gas. It’s a fact that soot absorbs heat and alters how light (i.e.heat) moves around in the atmosphere (low atm and high atm, as well as at cloud surfaces).

Here is an example of a human caused environmental problem: The killing off of life in the Great Lakes.

That was caused by acid rain, which acidified the water in the Great Lakes, causing fish and fauna die-offs. The only reason life returned to these lakes was that Sulfur and Nitrogen emissions were placed under a cap-and-trade like program, which reduced emissions. Basically, what happened in the clouds was that nitrogen was being converted to nitric acid. Sulfur compounds were being converted to sulfuric acid. And then they dropped to Earth with the rainfall. This was DIRectly linked to human activity. And reducing the emissions from these processes had the direct effect of reducing the acidity of the water. Of course, after pH was returned to normal levels, the lakes had to be re-seeded.

So, why is it not conceivable to you that we are also having OTHER effects on our environment, including climate? The atmosphere is a very, teeny, tiny portion of Earth’s mass by weight. And yet it’s the ONLY thing that allows life on Earth.

I saw a video about healthcare in Europe (England maybe?) they were talking about how the government just didn’t have the money to give certain folks exteneded healthcare coverage. What part of this do American’s NOT see coming? The government has a SAY in WHO they will allow to have coverage? YIPES!!! It might not be a ‘factor’ at first, but later on—watch out people….you might NOT be so happy with this monster plan if it is YOU that needs that care and are denied it.

That is true Lisa, as far as I can see. And that is a problem of runaway Socialism which does not take into account a free market approach to furthering the prosperity of a country as a whole. I should not have used such a generalized statement as “foreign health care.” There are worst ones than ours and better ones than ours.

What is more in my meaning is “some other foreign health care systems which are superior to the US health care system.”

    Hey Foxwood!

The General Electric Socialist arm of the Media World, MSNBC/NBC, are so far to the left many people ridicule them and their virtually non-existent creditability… their ratings are so far in the toilet a piece of tissue paper would cover them up.

They are the laughing stock of the Television.
I focus 75% more on SNN (CNN) as they are still considered to have credibility by a number of Americans… that they are also the MEDIA Arm of the Socialist Party is not yet that well understood… and THAT makes them far more destructive to We the People who see Socialism for what it is.

  78. rosehips says:

lisa, to do nothing about health care is no different than saying who has coverage and who doesn’t. By nature of the present system, many working poor are priced out of the market.

  79. rosehips says:

vf, just because Fox has better ratings, doesn’t mean they ARE better. Free Speech TV has the most unbiased news coverage and has miniscule ratings. Fox News is more entertaining. It presents news in ways that appeal to the average America. Unfortunately, average does not mean discerning.
MSNBC appeals to a smaller demographic, thus lower ratings.

It occured to me that if you add the viewership of CNN and HLN, the numbers aren’t all that much less than Fox, but Fox does still come out on top.
most popular does not mean it is the best or the most unbiased.

  80. Foxwood says:

    Hey, highplainsgirl,

I’m not one to pollute (ex-boy scout), but we can not pollute ourselves into global warming. The earth is in an ll year cycle and is now cooling. If we reduce greenhouse gases, we’ll start a new ice age.

We are full of shit if we think we can affect the temperature of the planet. We might be able to affect the looks of the planet, but that is a whole other story.

Just think about it. almost 7 billion people spewing tons of emissions every minute of every day. Look at our energy use. I don’t see how it is possible that we could not be having a serious impact.

The earth is cooling? according to whom? Glen Beck?

  84. highplainsgirl says:

Foxwood, if you look at the actual trend graph you can see the 11 year sun cycle in the noise. You can also see the El Nino and La Nina pattern which is more of a three year cycle up and down. But the slope of temperature with time is still clearly UP.

Think about this for a minute. Why have you compartmentalized our ability to affect the world in such a way? If we can alter the pH of the ocean, why then is it impossible for you to believe we could alter the atmosphere, which is 100’s of times less dense (and thus easier to alter)? Just asking the question, because it seems like a hole in your logic regarding this issue.

Have you ever met or spoken with these guys? Have you studied chemistry and climate? Do you have a firm grasp of atmospheric dynamics? I’m a chemist and I was enrolled for a while this last semester in a graduate course in atmospheric chemistry.)

Seriously, you should think about the dichotomy in your thought process. We can pollute but we can’t affect climate. If we can, by emitting CO2, cause the pH of the OCEAN (which is over 70% of the Earth’s surface area) to drop, then why do you suppose it’s not also affecting other aspects of the Earth system?

I happen to want to live in a world habitable to humans. Just because Earth will go on, life will go on, does not mean it’s OK to alter our atmosphere like this. I happen to not think it’s OK to be the probable cause of famines and floods and droughts and disease and an aweful lot of hardship for billions of humans.

  97. rosehips says:

and thanks highplainsgirl. it’s a small consolation that science is on our side, since the propaganda machines work relentlessly 24/7 and seem to have limitless reserves of power in their efforts to rationalize a lifestyle of waste and greed and the sense of entitlement that many feel because after all, they earned the money so they should be able to do whatever they want with it.

  98. highplainsgirl says:

Rosehips, I believe even the staunchest doubters (Foxwood) can be convinced, but maybe not by someone like me who already is convinced. Maybe only by their own circle of politicoes. And there are some in the Right who are starting to be convinced now. So that’s improvement.

  99. Foxwood says:

    Rosehips and Highplainsgirl,

You never read me say, “it’s OK to pollute”. It’s not. I’m saying we as a life form can NOT destroy the earth. Name your scientist, I can name mine. We can NOT Destroy the planet.

We CAN destroy ourselves. But if you thin CO2 can destroy the planet, why don’t you stop breathing, because your destroying the planet All you need is common sense to know this., not a collage degree.

I’m trying to maintain my cool and not get pissed, but it’s these kinds of comments that turn normal discussions into grade-school name-calling festivals.

Just because you know how to offend people doesn’t mean you know what you’re talking about. I suggest you pick up a copy of my grad level AChem book and see if your common sense gets you any closer to understanding the first two sentences in the first chapter.

OK, Foxwood, I’m done with you. Not interested in these kinds of “discussions.”

  101. rosehips says:

I hear ya highplains….at least you have the scientific background to help you. There will always be those who refuse the evidence before us, or the logic that is plain, to further their agendas or rationalize their waste.

I just hope they all have a wide buffer around their homes so the wildfires don’t consume them.

  102. rosehips says:

I guess I am willing to concede that the earth will not be destroyed completely before our civilization collapses due to the inability of the earth to sustain us.
Yes, the earth may regenerate over the course of many, many years once the human race is extinct. I believe our actions contribute to climate change and have serious implications for our future survival.
So it’s all been a game of semantics. We can’t destroy the earth but we can destroy ourselves. Well, what good will the earth be to humankind if we can’t survive to inhabit it?

  103. Foxwood says:

    Highplainsgirl and Rosehips,

I’m a collage grad. Just because I don’t agree with Ward Churchill and Bill Ayes, doesn’t mean I’m wrong. I believe other scientists that debunk your facts. Nuff’ said.

PS it’s just a blog. I have lefty friends. We just fight alot.

  104. highplainsgirl says:

OK, I’ll take the bait one more time. WTF does Chirchill or Ayers have to do with chemistry? Churchill is a friggin’ ‘Ethnic Studies’ professor, what would he know about chemistry??

Because when we talk about climate change, we’re talking about chemistry and physics. Not plagierism. Not Leftist agendas. Not terrorist plots. And to be blunt, not Al Gore either.

Chemistry, please, because that’s the kind of discussion I’m open to.

  105. rosehips says:

foxwood, you are right it’s just a blog. You are new around here and you will see that we sometimes disagree vehemently and can get a bit hostile, but at the end of the day if we can’t laugh along with each other, it’s not worth it. We can argue til we’re blue in the face and probably won’t change things one iota.
with that said, I’d love to see some of your collages. Did you do a lot of arts and crafts in school? lol.
and what do ward churchill and bill ayers have to do with science? Any scientist you name, I guarantee I can show you how they are profitting from their position. I’m not saying all scientists who support our position don’t profit, but the overwhelming agreement among scientists support us, so your effort to debunk is nothing but bunk.
let’s just call this discussion a draw and I will find no pleasure in some day saying “i told you so.”

    gotta go…

  106. highplainsgirl says:

rosehips, thanks for adding some levity in! I needed it. I’m having trouble with my programming right now, which isn’t helping my mood.

Foxwood, let’s agree not to get into petty insults, OK?

  107. highplainsgirl says:

And the crafts joke was funny!

  108. Foxwood says:

Nothing to bite one. I just believe the scientist who are right. Scientist like John Coleman, who founded the Weather Channel, who cite that Jupiter, Mars, Venus and the moon are rising in temperature. I guess we are polluting so much that we are affecting the solar system.

As far at the professors I mentioned, if you go to collage, your indoctrinated. You have to un-indoctrinate yourself.

  109. highplainsgirl says:

Jupiter, Mars, Venus… OK, I won’t talk about Jupiter and Venus until I know more about them. But Mars I can talk about. I asked the Mars Lander team about warming on Mars, if you can believe it. I sent them an email, and they answered me. They said that only the northern pole was warming, not the whole planet. They also said they didn’t have enough data to say anything one way or another about any correlations between Earth warming and Mars.

Here’s the body of their email response to me:

Although we do have data from the orbiters about global temperatures on Mars, there really aren’t any graphs showing changes over time. We’ve only been landing spacecraft to Mars since the seventies, so the amount of data we have is still relatively limited. Climate change on Earth is much better documented, because we have access to things like the Vostok ice cores. There is indication that Mars is warming up, but this is unrelated to Earth’s climate. What is happening on Mars is more of a “polar warming” in the northern hemisphere. It is the natural result of Mars’ eccentric orbit and tilt. Earth has an entirely different position in the solar system and a vastly different atmosphere, so the two “warmings” are unconnected. Dr. Robert Strom at the Lunar and Planetary Lab is our resident expert in global warming if you want to learn more; you can find his contact information on our website, http://www.lpl.arizona.edu.

Foxwood I am aware of the heating of planets and excuse me if I did not read every comment in its entirety, but even given the fact that our universe is heating up and does this every I think 52 million years, the byproduct of mans industrial growth has been the catylist of our current global situation.

You speak of chemistry, well freon, has proven to be critical to the thickness of our ozone, that is a fact as facts go. So is the heating up of our planet is reducing the barrier in the tundra to where additional methane gas is being released to un-liveable levels.

    hi rose

common sense caution is always a good idea

at any given time, there are hundreds of thousands of people around the world with flu-like illnesses and symptoms

the media decides which ones are “pandemics” by how much they cover it and how bad they blow it out of proportion

  147. rosehips says:

yeah, i agree that the media manipulates the problem….I haven’t read the news today…

  148. billalmighty says:

you should keep it that way. the news today is all bad anyway. gloom and despair….we’re all doomed, blah blah, etc.

  149. rosehips says:

well I personally believe that we need epidemics to strengthen the gene pool, but that is a very unpopular view. I don’t believe in flu shots, or vacinations. I don’t want to wish death on anyone, but death is inevitable and is survival is not gauranteed. Nature has a way of weeding the weak out. It happens everyday when women miscarry. I am very sad for any woman who loses a baby, but it is probably for the best. We manipulate life too much and now we have too many people who have weakened immune systems and are prone to illness. I have been called out on this before and usually don’t express this view too much. I once contracted hepatitis in Guatemala but thought I had a bad flu. I returned to the states and spread it to my good friends. One friend was hospitalized and would have died had he not been and i of course I am glad that he survived. I’d not want to be responsible for his death because of my own irresponsibility of not seeking medical treatment when I was so doggone sick.

  156. ohiobelle says:

iCry has got to be a ghost town.. alot of blue faces attacked for no reason other than their point of views might appear to be those of a banned ireporter. lol I feel for the newbies…

  157. ohiobelle says:

I am going to work outside. I will check back in a couple of hours.

  158. rosehips says:

yes, it is very, very quiet over there. It’s been quiet here too.
    hey indy, belle!

aneko flatlined herself. I saw her say she was going to de-activate.

highplains, it doesn’t surprise me that you and I are in agreement with my above view. Maybe I’ll do an ireport about it, but prolly not today.

I am going to Spokane to cover the monkey trial sentencing. I am in contact with the defendant and she is pissed at her attorney who did not inform her that the prosecutors are now pushing for the maximum sentence and that she would be allowed to speak in her defense. He also told her he’d take her calls this weekend and he never took any. She is fit to be tied and I hope I can do the story justice. It may make national news, but it’s hard to say. Maybe I can sell the exclusive to some scandal sheet. lol.

  159. ohiobelle says:

Hi rose!! I decided to check back one more time before I walked outside.. Are you still there?

  160. rosehips says:

yeah I’m here. what’s up belle?

  161. rosehips says:

vf disappeared on us after checking in early this morning.

  162. rosehips says:

I just finished my assignment which is due today. I can not get over how easy this class is. It’s supposed to take 9 hours a week, but it’s more like 4-5 hours.

  163. ohiobelle says:

rosehips, I have a scandel for you to cover.. it’s called swine flu.. I swear if I got that flu then I would take a tour of MSNBC news station or better yet CNN but that’s coming from a obstructionist, anti-patriotic, mud slingin’, name callin, no tax payin’, belly achin’, Armageddon predictin’ , FEMA campin’, Limbaugh listenin’, “I’m not a racist, but I can’t explain why I’m hatin”, tea baggin’, don’t know why I’m protestin’, iReport pollutin’, iTroll sclap takin’, garbage postin’, Beck quotin’, no idea havin’, complainin’, just say No poutin’, progressive blockin’, NWO fear-mongerin’, Castro slammin’, North Korea knockin’, Iran bustin’, HAMAS hatin’, UN bashin’, constitution-huggin’, Jefferson quotin’, gun totin’, First Amendment worshipin’, bible quotin’, Obama slammin’, Liberal smearin’, Socialist baitin’, separatist promotin’, CNN slammin’, Marxist hatin’ Republican… lol

  164. ohiobelle says:

Rosehips, what class are you taking? I swear I’ve been thinking about taking a job with the competition just to get back to work. I’ve been offered a great position but wanted to go back to the company I was working for. I honestly work harder at home then I did sitting in an office for 10 hours a day.

  165. rosehips says:

I am taking Fundamentals of Litigation for Paralegals. I’m in my second quarter of the program. This is my only class this quarter and it is a 9 credit course, but is so elementary that I am wondering if I am missing something. Apparently I’m not because so far I have gotten A’s in all the assignments and not admonishments for missed work. I guess maybe I’m smarter than I thought I was. HaHaHa

  166. rosehips says:

check into the competition belle. If you feel they have a better future and better bennies and if they treat their employees well, you should consider it, imo.

  167. ohiobelle says:

Rosehips, Fundamentals of Litigation for Paralegals? Wow.. that sounds great. I am very happy for you. Keep up the good work.

  168. rosehips says:

I am going to go sort out all those vintage clothes I got the other day and find a consignment shop in Spokane to sell them. btw, belle, I loved the name of the website you suggested for us to sell stuff on: http://www.twochickssellingshit.com….that‘s a riot. Did you see that somewhere or did you make it up?

  169. ohiobelle says:

I know I would like the competition but I have in writing that I would go back to my old company and for that they are still paying my healthcare.. That is the worst part. I really want to give them a chance to bring me back but I don’t know how much longer I will last as a stay home mom… this is the hardest job in the world. My hat goes off to anybody that does this.

  170. rosehips says:

belle, I am hoping to get a job in environmental law so I can help prosecute all the people who say humans don’t contribute to climate change. hahahaha… I want all of the naysayers locked up and muzzles so we can giddily go about the work of outlawing cars, cows, and beans. lol.

  171. ohiobelle says:

My sister and I were going to do that website. I already did the research and nobody has that name. I came up with the idea because you know that Craig was probably talking to his friends one day and said he had a list of stuff to sell… lol That’s how easy craigslist could’ve been made.

rose wrote: btw, belle, I loved the name of the website you suggested for us to sell stuff on: http://www.twochickssellingshit.com….that’s a riot. Did you see that somewhere or did you make it up?

  172. ohiobelle says:

    It was actually 2chickssellingshit.com

  173. rosehips says:

hard job? but ms hoff is in school no? How many kids do you have?
the only hard thing is that since you are home, you create a mess that you have to clean up. If you were gone to work that mess wouldn’t happen.
stay at home mothering is a privilege many can’t afford to do . I was lucky that I could do it and work from home. I think putting my kids in daycare and working would have been much more difficult. But full time parenting is not easy and many men especially don’t appreciate it until they have to do it.

  174. ohiobelle says:

rosehips wrote: belle, I am hoping to get a job in environmental law so I can help prosecute all the people who say humans don’t contribute to climate change. hahahaha…

Your search is over.. cuff me! lol

  175. rosehips says:

you will be the first one I go after belle, don’t worry… I’ve got a nice file on all your denials. hehehehehehee

  176. ohiobelle says:

rosehips wrote: But full time parenting is not easy and many men especially don’t appreciate it until they have to do it.

The parenting isn’t too bad (until you hit the teenage years) but being the landscaper, maid, dog watcher, deck stainer, grass grower, chef, and anything else they choose to add to my guilt list.. then it sucks.
    I have 2.. 5 yr and 15 yr.

  177. ohiobelle says:

rosehips wrote: you will be the first one I go after belle, don’t worry… I’ve got a nice file on all your denials. hehehehehehee

I am not in denial.. I am reaching out to you now.. cuff me so I don’t have to finish staining the deck.. Out of 6 gallons needed.. we are only on 2 and mr belle went back to work so I am left to finish.. take me now hahaha

  178. Indycoltsfan says:

    Hi everyone. Where is VF?

  179. ohiobelle says:

alright it is time that I go out and get started… sigh

Roseships, I will catch up with you later.

  180. ohiobelle says:

Hey Indy, rose said vf has been MIA since she checked in this morning. She’s probably out using that new club she got for her bday. lol

  181. rosehips says:

ahhh, a 5 year old? ok, sure that should keep you busy. is he/she in kindergarden?

well, if the long arm of the law could reach you, I’d make it. But I will have to wait until after I finish up the program, so I’m afraid you will need to get back to work. Hey you will feel so good when it’s all finished and think of the parties out on your deck you can have and how impressed your friends will be. 😉

  182. rosehips says:

see you later belle. have a great day!

  183. rosehips says:

yep indy….she is mia. she checked in and then disappeared. I am off too to get ready for the monkey trial. see you all later.

Right.. think of all the friends Ms Hoff can have over.. they love to come over after school and lay out on the deck.. lol I guess we’re doing this to make it more comfortable for her and her friends.. hahaha

5 year old boy it soooo much easier than 15 year old teenage girl. OMG!! So much easier.

Okay now I am going to get started…. sigh It’s so hard trying to find the mojo to get started. lol

  187. samiam60 says:

    hi sami!

    cnn couldn’t care less….
unless there is a large mass of people that no longer grace cnn with their attention… ppl have to become very critical of the news they are being fed.. they have to realize that mainstream news mainly don’t match reality and shift to alternative media, employing solid critical thinking… great initiative though sami!

  194. ohiobelle says:

sosdd, lol Are you talking about that person that tat himself up to look like a cat??

  195. sosdd says:

    yes ohio that’s the one.

  196. ohiobelle says:

That is such a creepy picture!! That person is either totally comfortable with himself or in need of deep therapy.. lol

  197. highplainsgirl says:

Ew, who would do such a thing to themselves?

Rosehips, I was doing great in my programming class until the last couple of assigments when I became thoroughly confused. I HAD a solid A, but now that’s in question. We’ll see how I do on the final, I guess…

  198. ohiobelle says:

    hello highplainsgirl…

  199. highplainsgirl says:

Hi! Have any of you heard of Ali Farka Toure, since there seems to be a lot of talk about music on here? I put a video of him up on my blog, I think Rosehips at least will like him since she liked my String Cheese Incident stuff…

  200. ohiobelle says:

highplainsgirl, I’ve only been focusing on Pakistan.. sorry. It unfortunate that most people are unaware of the danger presented to us. The media basically let the story go because of the swine flu..sigh. I believe the Taliban have taken over Pakistan… 300 suicide bombers are on their way to Islamabad, Pakistan and plan to attack the capital and certain local officials of foreign embassies there. This should be top news but it isn’t.

  201. ohiobelle says:

It would be music to my ears if this was top story like it was… how is that for music lol.

I have to run but I will check back.

  202. bgb02 says:

ohiobelle, Obama is taking advantage of the swine flu to redirect the public I believe, and to sell his national healthcare. And anything to distract from this also: 300 suicide bombers are on their way to Islamabad, Pakistan and plan to attack the capital and certain local officials of foreign embassies there. This should be top news but it isn’t.

  203. karmahd says:

wow no VF all day, whatttzupppp peeps on the way to the gym than you all for stopping by my new post last night.

  204. ohiobelle says:

  205. karmahd says:

Interesting theory Ohio, she could cutting baby wolf paws off for bounty, or sharpening up her Falcon talons?? I am off to eat some rare turtle eggs, check back in later. after I run my 454 Four wheel drive and burn some carbon, just love the smell of carbon in the morning, yeaaaaaaaahhhh

  206. bgb02 says:

    Hi All!

I missed everyone yesterday… we lost cable and internet and it was down all day… barely had 15-20 minutes online yesterday morning before it went out.

    GRRRRRRRR

Lot of catching up to do now.

  222. m2elena says:

    Morning haters!!!

Hey VF, it was probably good to be unplugged for a change though, huh?

  223. rosehips says:

    hey vf! hi m2…

vf, you need a new cable company. what’s up with that? that is unacceptable, imo….

  224. m2elena says:

    OMG guys…

Elena was just on the chair playing on my mousetrack and I was fixing her a banana, and she was like “he heh, banana” and then her fingers scrolled the page up to one of the youtube videos with Obama, and she goes “heh,… heh Obama… heh”

    NOOOOOOOO!

  225. m2elena says:

husband taught her to say Obama with his picture to annoy me, lol.

  226. samiam60 says:

Morning VF, sure did miss you yesterday, I felt scared being all alone to mess up my whole blogg page. LOL

  227. samiam60 says:

  228. m2elena says:

I see John Wayne for you gravatar, Sam! Maybe my cache needs emptying.

  229. LisaInTX says:

    Good morning fellow Conservative extremist.
VF you were missed yesterday. Looks like you just gonna have to get a backup satellite so you will not be prevented from blogging in the future. I recommend launching your own private satellite—VFBLOGGER Deep Space1…..lol;-]

  230. LisaInTX says:

    M2
LOL@ Elana knowing obama photo….NOW you can teach her to ‘run and hide”” if she sees him coming. That would be self-preservation right? ;-}…just kidding…
You could tell her, honey, its nothing but a BAD dream and we all are going to wakeup and we’ll have never heard of the man!.

  231. LisaInTX says:

    M2
    I told you that my grand daughters name is Elayna didn’t I?? :-}

  232. Indycoltsfan says:

Morning everyone, Did you hear about the latest teleprompter gaffe. The potus totus can’t evn speak without one. What a doofusssss!!!!!! LOL!

  233. Indycoltsfan says:

It should show up on utube soon.

  234. LisaInTX says:

    Indy
I saw that on Greta last night! Obama looked VERY angry didn’t he? LMAO…poor guy can’t talk without one…When will he figure out he is IN OVER HIS little POINTED head!!

  235. Indycoltsfan says:

Yea, Lisa he probably chewed out his teleprompter technician afterwards. I wish I could be his teleprompter tech just for a day. I could have sooo mucchhhh funnn! LOL!

  236. Indycoltsfan says:

I still say that eventually the democratic party along with the media are going to eventually get out the long knives and throw that fool to the lions just to save themselves from total destruction.

  237. VotingFemale says:

    Just finished catching up…

well! What does everyone think of the Obama Administration promoting Buzzing NYC with a Jumbo Jet and Fighter planes????

And Obama’s FAA putting a lid on those plans?

DAMN INSENSITIVE IF YOU ASK ME!

I saw the videos of it and in almost all ofthem it looked like a 911 attack about to hit buildings….

    GOD DAMN IT!!!!!

    GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  238. VotingFemale says:

And yup Sam.. your new Gravatar is showing.

The delay of it showing up when the Gravatar is changed is not something new… and experience has shown it eventually does show up in a few days… or a week after swapping it out. Probably has something to do with wordpress server doing a weekly gravatar update to scan for changed Gravatars.

oh well… SH as they say… but it is is fixed now as I expected it would be given time.

  239. LisaInTX says:

    Vf
Are you talking about the ‘Photo shoot’ regarding the planes? The one that cost the snot outta tax payers so THEY could then receive propaganda photos from the obama camp in the future?

  240. VotingFemale says:

Yes Lisa… I saw videos of Air Force One low flying over NYC and the videos were CREEPY!!!!!!!!!!!

    HOW DARE THEY DO THAT!!!!!!

Thousands fled buildings in NYC afraid for their lives…

And Obama is “angry about it?????”

Excuse the hell out of me but the buck stops with Obama. He should apologize to NYC.

  241. LisaInTX says:

LMAO@ Indy running the obama telepromter…THAT I’d LOVE to see…Heheheee;-} Can you even imagine ….you could throw in a few choice sentences in the middle of the paragraphs like, “Yes America. I’m a Marxist and asking for your first born to serve me in my quest for world domination.”

  242. LisaInTX says:

I must have missed all that???
I haven’t seen the video, only heard it mentioned last night on Greta. DAMN? Whatever was Obama thinking???? Does the man NOT have ANY DAMNED SENSE at all???

  243. VotingFemale says:

I’ll go scout Youtube for the videos…

it is insane what they did

  244. Indycoltsfan says:

Here ya go guys. Obama’s latest teleprompter malfunction. LOL!

  245. LisaInTX says:

I had to laugh hysterically at the month of July budget. Seems Our FAT CAT adminstration in DC will not have the money to support themselves to the tune of 360 billion dollars?? I think was the amount—Billions regardless, but are asking for a LOAN–from China, Arabia, Japan, etc…just chaps my butt….I’m hoping the Monopoly money machine at the fed breaks down and maybe THEN they will get a grip on this spending without having assets to back it up.

  246. LisaInTX says:

Oh HELL. You could hear a guy yelling in the background saying “Oh My GOD”!
I bet those people WERE SCARED!!….

  247. Indycoltsfan says:

Yea VF, Wasn’t that great!! What irresponsibility. The poor people in NY thought they were going through another 9-11. I wonder if anyone had a heart attack as a result of it. I hope if anyone got hurt as a result of this their families sue the government.

  248. billalmighty says:

    hey all…..

    vf,
that new york incident angered me too. i’m wondering how many people suffering from ptsd are right back where they were on 9-11 and have another period of recovery to get through now

  249. LisaInTX says:

Thanks VF for the video links.
Looks like Obama NOW wants to reorganize FAA as they are being made out to be the ‘fall guys’ on this boondoggle of a stupid idea.

  250. rosehips says:

that was an incredibly callous act. What were they thinking? What was the rationale for not informing NY about the mission? Not even the MAYOR knew! That’s insane.

I feel bad for all the people who were tramatized by the incident.

With that said, I’d be thinking it was pretty exciting, in retrospect, if I had been in NY to see it.

  251. VotingFemale says:

Many Bill… and anyone watching these videos and more are sure to follow will feel what I felt…

    a re-triggering of 911 fears…

Obama stuck a scape goat out to the public to apologize but did not apologize for it as head of the Obama administration.

In my opinion, the damn jerk is more concerned about his personal poll numbers than about people and his ultimate responsibility for the actions of his administration.

  252. VotingFemale says:

    From FOXNews…

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg blasted the photo opportunity for being insensitive and showing “poor judgment.”

In a brief statement after the flight, the New York Police Department acknowledged it was aware the flight was happening, but claimed the Federal Aviation Administration told them not to talk about it.

“The flight of a VC-25 aircraft and F-16 fighters this morning was authorized by the FAA for the vicinity of the Statue of Liberty with directives to local authorities not to disclose information about it but to direct any inquiries to the FAA Air Traffic Security Coordinator,” the statement said.

The aircraft involved in this morning’s mission, a VC-25, is the military’s version of a Boeing 747, with state-of-the-art communication and electronic equipment. It is a backup plane that is sometimes used as Air Force One to carry the President of the United States.

  253. Indycoltsfan says:

How many thousands of dollars of wasted tax payer money was used in thsi stunt? That should be the question asked.

  254. rosehips says:

“The FAA is a Sphinx” Shumer said. He sure did vilify the former FAA political appointee. Boy, this is becoming a partisan issue once again. It seems like it’s the Bush admin’s fault. The spin never stops, eh?

  255. rosehips says:

and Shumer said that there is no current director of the FAA. So who is at the helm? Time for a dept. scrubbing, it seems.

  256. billalmighty says:

it’s hard for me to believe this happened by mistake

knowing how politicians think and operate……

hell, it’s sad that i’m even wondering about that

  257. VotingFemale says:

That there is no FAA director lies at the feet of Obama. What the FAA does is his responsibility regardless of who is running it.

  258. VotingFemale says:

There is no Obama director for HHS, CDC, and other agencies… and he has been tasked with filling these spots since early November 2008.

  259. VotingFemale says:

I can understand wanting an Air Force One low fly over NYC not to be announced for fear of a shoot down…

What I can not understand is the very idea of such a fly over.

  260. m2elena says:

right there is no surgeon general….

Obama is truly bad at “business” … truly.
to bad he’s the ‘effective’ CEO of the United States.

    Ahhh hell.

  261. m2elena says:

let’s see, Gibbs told the media to call the white house regarding the “fly over” and the media told him, WH would refer to him.

We have a word-wide Flu scare and no surgeon general.

Do we still not have the Treasury department filled out? Last I heard, it was just Tax Evader Geithner and no one else.

    PATHETIC.

  262. VotingFemale says:

And CNN aka SNN keeps kissing his ass… like the SOCIALIST PRAVDA IT IS…

  263. rosehips says:

I think blaming Obama is a bit unfair. I mean is he supposed to micromanage everything and is he expected to vet every appointee within his first 100 days? He has done extremely well, imo, as far as his pace goes. I don’t think there has ever been such sweeping changes, so fast. I’m not saying speed is the best thing though, in every case. I think haste can be very risky and expensive. But we can’t continue on with the snail’s pace of the past. Important legislation is needed that will lead to needed reforms. I am an advocate of reform in many of our agencies. It looks like the FAA can be added to this list.
EPA, BLM, Energy Dept. Bureau of Prisons, FDA, Federal Reserve, etc etc

  264. ohiobelle says:

I am so mad right now.. I spent the last hour writing an article but I don’t think I should upload it. It is my true feelings about our government.. The plane flying over New York did me in… I am so very pissed off!! What the hell is wrong with our government????? I don’t recall I time I’ve been this pissed off..

  265. rosehips says:

yes, maybe he has been slow in finding appointees. It is getting very difficult to find ANYONE who can pass muster. And those that can, have every good reason not to want to enter the lion’s den. sigh.

  266. m2elena says:

blah, he’s a community organizer – which basically means an agitator class-envy divider. And nothing else. A lawyer- so he lies. And he has 100 days Federal Senate “experience” which probably means about 35 days since the Congress only averages 1.5 work days per week.

    Why should anything be surprising?

  267. samiam60 says:

Obama has attacked all we hold dear so why not test out New York?? What an ego maniac.

  268. m2elena says:

well rosehips what was all that hulla-baloo about their “most effective transition” team ever in January, and getting head start?

It’s not that difficult to employ people. They are just plain ol’ bad managers.

  269. VotingFemale says:

He is not supposed to micro manage anything, Rose. He is supposed to put managers and sub-managers in place to do the managing.

And just like Bush took it on the chin for the screw-ups of Brown the director of FEMA RE: Katrina aftermath, Obama as the supreme manager of his administration has to step up to the plate as being ultimately responsible for both the good and the bad behaviors of his Administration. He is the Captain of his Administration… that is how that goes.

  270. m2elena says:

all that “transition” garbage was just more “good propaganda” with no results espoused by the corporate democrat policy-advocating owned media…

  271. m2elena says:

got to go for a bit!!!

  272. ohiobelle says:

rosehips wrote: I think blaming Obama is a bit unfair..

His pre 9/11 mentality is going to kill us all!! Barack Obama is a very stupid person!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  273. rosehips says:

it was the incompetence of the FAA belle.

I think everyone needs to calm the hell down. There is real danger here that people are going to boil over. Yes it was stupid. Yes it was insensitive. But humans do stupid things and whoever is responsible for the decision to not let the public know about the mission should be looking for a job, hopefully in an entirely different field, very shortly, I would think.

Obama claims credit for killing Somalis
    14 April 2009

The killing of three Somali pirates by US Navy snipers Sunday has been celebrated by the US media as a “daring rescue” and an act of heroism. With all of its usual stupidity and brutality, the media has reveled in the outcome precisely for its violence, giving barely a thought to the long-term consequences.

More importantly, the bloody end of the five-day hostage drama in the Indian Ocean is being treated as a pivotal moment for President Barack Obama. He has been tested by a crisis, the media argues, and proven that he is prepared to kill without flinching.

The target was a hapless band of Somali hijackers, aged 16 to 19, who failed in their attempt to seize the American-flagged cargo ship Maersk Alabama and then took the ship’s captain, Richard Phillips, hostage in the ship’s lifeboat.

No matter the scale of the episode, as the New York Times noted, this was “the first known order by the new president authorizing deadly force in a specific situation.”

The political character of Obama’s decision was made abundantly clear in the aftermath of the incident as White House aides stressed the American president’s hands-on role in the military response to the hijacking, reporting that he had been briefed 17 times on the situation and had twice provided authorization for the military to kill.

The media echoed this version of events, treating the violent end of the hijacking as a political coup for the White House.

The Associated Press commented, “Obama’s handling of the crisis showed a president who was comfortable in relying on the US military, much as his predecessor, George W. Bush, did.”

US News & World Report called the episode “a defining moment” for Obama, showing that “the new commander in chief will apply American muscle in a crunch.”

And the Washington Post commented that the incident had “left Obama with an early victory that could help build confidence in his ability to direct military actions abroad.” The bloodletting, the Post argued, “may help to quell criticism leveled at Obama that he came to office as a Democratic antiwar candidate who could prove unwilling or unable to harness military might when necessary.”

The most brutally frank of these reactions came from the right-wing editorial page of the Wall Street Journal, which stated: “With all the world watching, the US Navy couldn’t afford to be long stymied by sea-faring kidnappers. No doubt Mr. Obama would have been criticized in some quarters—though not by us—had Captain Phillips been killed once the order was given to shoot the pirates.”

In other words, the life of the captain was an entirely secondary consideration in the calculations of the White House and the Pentagon, which centered on the political imperative of violent retribution against any challenge to US interests.

In the end, the decision to end the standoff with sniper fire reflected not just Obama’s callousness, but more importantly, his subordination to the most reactionary forces around him, above all the military.

There is no doubt that this reckless decision will only set into motion greater tragedies. Until now, no one had been killed by the Somali pirates, who were interested only in extracting ransom for the ships they seized. As the pirates themselves have threatened, that may soon change, and the crew of the next American ship to be boarded may not be as lucky as Captain Phillips.

Moreover, there are some 250 seamen being held hostage by the pirates, most of them from the Philippines and South Asia. What will be the impact of the “decisive action” ordered by Obama on their fate? The inevitable result of Sunday’s operation will be the deaths of many more people.

In a statement Monday, Obama indicated that the White House is prepared to escalate military operations in response to Somali piracy. “I want to be very clear that we are resolved to halt the rise of piracy in that region and to achieve that goal. … We have to continue to be prepared to confront them when they arise.”

According to press reports, there are already multiple plans for intervention in Somalia. Citing Pentagon officials, Bloomberg news reported Monday that “The US military is considering attacks on pirate bases on land” and is “drawing up proposals to aid the fledgling Somalia government to train security forces and develop its own coast guard.”

Another intervention plan was revealed by the Washington Post on Saturday. Just before the seizure of the Alabama, the White House held discussions on military strikes against camps of the al-Shabab organization, an Islamist militia that played a prominent role in battling Ethiopian troops which occupied the country since 2006, until they were recently forced to withdraw.

The Ethiopian invasion and the subsequent brutal occupation were backed by the US, with American special operations troops participating in what was portrayed as part of the “global war on terrorism.”

This invasion, like the present proposals for direct American intervention, was an indication of the longstanding and intense US interest in Somalia.

In December 1992, the administration of George H.W. Bush dispatched nearly 30,000 US troops to Somalia on the pretext of a “humanitarian intervention.”

Before that, Washington had backed the corrupt dictatorship of General Mohammed Siad Barre in the late 1970s and 1980s, turning Somalia into a Cold War client state and a base for the American military.

With the end of the Cold War, Barre lost his usefulness for Washington and his regime was allowed to collapse and the country to slide into a social catastrophe prepared by the previous US policy. The result was the desperate impoverishment of the Somali people. Meanwhile, foreign corporations exploited the country’s coastline—and lack of a functioning state—to turn Somalia’s coastal waters into a dump for toxic and radioactive waste, while foreign fishing fleets poached in its waters. These are the conditions that allowed piracy to flourish.

Somalia’s strategic importance is obvious. The country has the longest coastline on the African continent, commanding sea lanes through which some 12 percent of the world’s seaborne oil passes. US military control over these waters would provide US capitalism with a powerful weapon against its major rivals.

Moreover, Somalia itself is seen as a potential source of new oil reserves. Under Barre, US oil giants had signed contracts granting them huge concessions in the country. They now face competition from China, which is seeking to meet its own burgeoning energy needs with African oil.

Underlying the hostage drama is the threat of another US imperialist war. And what is being hailed as a political triumph for Obama is, in reality, part of a violent shift to the right that will ultimately unleash new death and destruction.

The way I see this fly over crap…Obama orders the flight there of, tells the FAA to tell NYC officials about it, then instructs the FAA to tell NYC officials NOT to tell certain folks about it in order to further HIS personal agenda. 292. LisaInTX says:

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is an agency of the United States Department of Transportation with authority to regulate and oversee all aspects of civil aviation in the U.S. The Federal Aviation Act of 1958 created the group under the name “Federal Aviation Agency”, and adopted its current name in 1967 when it became a part of the United States Department of Transportation.

The Federal Aviation Administration’s major roles include:

    * Regulating U.S. commercial space transportation
    * Encouraging and developing civil aeronautics, including new aviation technology
    * Issuing, suspending, or revoking pilot certificates
    * Regulating civil aviation to promote safety, especially through local offices called Flight Standards District Offices
    * Developing and operating a system of air traffic control and navigation for both civil and military aircraft
    * Researching and developing the National Airspace System and civil aeronautics
    * Developing and carrying out programs to control aircraft noise and other environmental effects of civil aviation

Because he is always trying to be the popular guy, not the ‘leader’… He is to blame for all the policies that his administration has hoisted on us, because he is a ideologue to the core Leftist. Not a moderate like Bill Clinton.

But in terms of the fly-over, I say it was just a retarded plan cooked up by his team of handlers… He doesn’t have the confidence that comes with leadership to make solid decisions, case in point flip-flopping on Torture Trials, etc. Caving to leftist groups, while saying the day before he wouldn’t, etc. Taking a exacerbated amount of time to act on the pirate situation b/c it was boggled down with middlemen, Canada knowing about Swine-Flu before us.

he needs to pick up the riegns of leadership before everything spirals out of control. His first mistakes were his cabinet, his next mistakes were Pelosi/Stimulus…

No party is Godsent. While I refrain from critizising the Right for the most part is due to the weakened state of the right and the tremendous strength of the Left. Thus I focus on the Left 99% of the time.

It is IMPERATIVE that the Republican take back the Congress… to stop this one sided march into a Socialist Sea of Woe.

the thing about reducing emissions, is that it will save us in the long run. Reducing energy use will SAVE money. Being more efficient will SAVE money. Reducing asthma, learning disabilities, cancer etc, will SAVE money.
Of course we need to protect the elderly. Look how many old people live alone in big, inefficient housing and are lonely and ill-cared for. Why is it so expensive to put them in nursing homes? There must be better ways. Why not have co-housing for the elderly with home health care on a regular basis. Why should so many single old people be shacked up alone and cold and hungry and with inadequate health care?

Sam, you crack me up! LOL….please play nice with those poor “defenseless” and “victimized” Lib’s…..

and in case that came out wrong, I’m not saying we should put the elderly in nursing homes. They are expensive and the care is often inadequate.

I do not foresee a need for a civil war in this country. And talking about it only strengthens the left in their smearing of the right painting everyone on the right as militant extremists for propaganda purposes.

This one sided shift of government to socialism will be stopped with votes by voters who have clear heads.

A civil war would destroy this country for good. And I think the less time spent thinking that as an alternative and the more time thinking about getting Republican congressmen elected is the only way to shift the slide of the government into a Socialist Sea of Woe.

Want to fight in a war???? Go join the Army and do it in Afghanistan. Don’t anyone DARE turn our country side into a fu*king battle ground.

One Civil War was one too many…

Why should our elderly be placed in nursing homes? One thing I will give the Hispanic people that I have known. They CHERISH their patriarchs and matriarch, and bring them into their homes as productive parts of their families, not DISPOSE of them callously in nursing homes when they get too old to care for themselves.
As to healthcare—seems we have a program called Medi-care that they use??
As to costing more now in the cap and trade, yet saving money in the long run, WHO is gonna pay for all that GREEN updates to cut costs in the long run?
People on fixed incomes can not afford such things and many own their homes and do NOT want to be placed in a cold sterile nursing home environment.
IMO…people have become more selfish when it comes down to caring and really truly LOVING their families and their well being.

VF, I am not encouraging civil war or any kind of insurrection. I am just saying that if things keep going the way they are everthing will eventually evolve into violence and turmoil.

  363. LisaInTX says:

    Thanks for that link Indy…I posted my opinion…LOL ;-}

  364. rosehips says:

lisa, I agree with you on the nursing homes. I was asking why it costs so much, when they cram people in there and give them inadequate care in many cases. I don’t think that is the best place for the elderly, but families often aren’t equipped to take care of their parents. My parents built an apt into their home for my grandmother, who lived there for I think 5 years before she died at 94.
My mom is worried sick that she won’t be able to continue taking care of my dad. I am beginning to realize that none of my siblings is really willing or able to step in to help, so I guess I will go to PA and do it.
My suggestion was for co-housing because I think it is too expensive for the elderly to live alone in big houses. We need to rethink how we live and change, or risk tragedy. I am not sure I have the energy to fight the resistence. It’s draining. I just might resign myself to our demise, sit back, drink beer, go swimming and watch my grass grow.
I think families, churches and communities need to step up and help the needy, especially our elderly. I’m willing to do that, but so many people aren’t, or aren’t able to. I think that needs to change.

  365. LisaInTX says:

I agree with VF. One civil war was enough for any nation, so don’t ANYONE even consider starting such a thing!!

  366. rosehips says:

it depends what you consider civil war. Civil unrest is already happening. It will continue to happen and I believe it will happen more often. I will be very, very surprised if in the heat of this coming summer, we don’t have some rioting. Our world is a ticking timebomb. I don’t see liberals and conservatives standing off against each other with grenades and semis. ha. that would be a sight!

I agree about communities helping out. THAT is something we can ALL do to help those in need on a personal level.
I have two little elderly women, one I just mentioned above, that I help out at their homes pretty regularly. Yesterday, my other friend (who I’ve known since the age of 6 yrs old) needed some work down at her house. So, I installed a new kitchen faucet, fixed a leaking drain pipe under a bathroom sink and tightened down her toilet to the floor. Pulled a 10″ diameter tree off a dang barbwire fence, which tried to get the last word in by slamming me in the neck and jaw with a limb, before I kicked its butt!!
I also pick her up every Sunday afternoon and we go to the grocery store together. I also take her during the week to run errands when asked too.
If we could all take just a few hours every week to help someone else in need, imagine the possibilities that would open up?

  369. Indycoltsfan says:

It won’t be a conservative / liberal thing. It will be a survival kind of war.

  370. LisaInTX says:

    Indy
I hear ya. War is always a possibility when civil unrest gets heated beyond logic. The way I see it is this. I think that is EXACTLY what the LEFTISTS want and I refuse to give them the satisfaction until THEY force it on us by firing the first shots! Even then, I would hope that someone out there with some COMMON SENSE would be able to quell the insanity of such misguided actions.
This day will come one day as it is predicted in the Bible. I just hope that something will be done to change those horrible events.
